A variety of wonderful activities were held during the festival, which began at 9 a.m., lasting about 3 hours. We first enjoyed inspiring speeches delivered by excellent teachers, who offered practical advice on how to read efficiently. Later, some students shared their favorite books and unique thoughts, and gave brilliant recitations. Most importantly, we decided to hold regular gatherings to exchange reading ideas and share good books. The activity was a huge success. It greatly aroused students’ interest in reading and built a strong scholarly atmosphere across our campus, contributing greatly to our long-term personal growth. 第二节(满分25分) One possible version: After several productive hours of work, I could smell something cooking. The delicious scent of garlic and tomatoes drifted up to my room, making my stomach rumble. Curious, I saved my project and quietly went downstairs to investigate. I found my three children working together in the kitchen, a scene I had rarely witnessed. Jordan was carefully stirring a large pot of spaghetti sauce while Nathan set the table with surprising focus. Julia, their confident leader, smiled at me and announced, “Lunch will be ready in five minutes, Mom.” We were about to have lunch when my husband came back. Eric walked in with a suitcase, his eyes lighting up at the scene. “Wow, what a feast!” he laughed, putting down his bag. With visible pride on their faces, the kids rushed to tell him about their “ATF plan,” and I explained how they’d taken over all food tasks. Over lunch, we chatted and laughed. I felt the stress from my project melt away, replaced by overwhelming love for my thoughtful family. As I bit into the tasty soup, I realized that family isn’t just about taking care of others, but letting them take care of you too. A Do you want to challenge yourself and show your work? Our adventures started on a sunny morning when we got off from our boat in Santarém after a three and a half day boat trip on the Amazon. Our guide Gil, whom we contacted weeks earlier, was waiting for us in the port. We were worried, as the boat trip took a day more than expected, and we didn’t have any chance to communicate with Gil, but fortunately he was prepared for our late arrival. Gil was brought up in the thick forest, so he knows all secrets of this incredibly rich environment. With no tracks, we had to cut through the jungle to search for a place to spend the night. After a couple of hours, we found a big tree ideal to attach the hammocks (吊床) to. We cleared ground and hung up our hammocks. It was dark when we made fire for dinner. Gil stuck some branches of a tree to pieces of chicken and we cooked them in the fire. It tasted great with special cooking spice. When the fire was out, complete darkness came upon us, and this was the moment when the jungle around woke up. We started to hear louder and louder the noise of crickets, scorpions, small birds and monkeys which were jumping from tree to tree just above our heads. Many times we woke up during the night, when small branches or leaves fell into our hammocks. We could not sleep deeply, but we enjoyed listening to the music of the rainforest, which was an unbelievable experience. We got up at 4 AM to see the sunrise from a very special place. We listened again to the sound of the roaring monkeys, and we were left breathless seeing the sunrise over the jungle. On the way out of the jungle, we saw a deer crossing the road. 4. Why did the author feel worried in the first paragraph? A. They failed to find the port in time. B. Their boat arrived later than planned. C. They lost contact with Gil on the way. D. They met bad weather on the journey. 5. Which of the following best describes Gil? A. Shy and well-organized. B. Experienced and reliable. C. Knowledgeable and smart. D. Adventurous and humorous. 6. What does the author try to illustrate by mentioning “the music of the rainforest” in paragraph 3? A. Their sleepless night. B. The fear of the jungle. C. The noisy environment. D. The unique charm of the jungle. 7. Where does the passage probably come from? A. A news report. B. A travel guide. C. A travel journal. D. A geography textbook. C Tree-planting has become a go-to tool for taking carbon out of the atmosphere and repairing deforested habitats. And indeed, reforestation — planting trees in historically forested area — is the most beneficial option, providing habitat for wildlife while storing carbon. But if done incorrectly, planting trees can come with a significant cost to biodiversity. “Right tree, right place, right way,” said Susan Cook-Patton, senior forest restoration scientist for The Nature Conservancy, repeating a slogan the organization uses to encourage sustainable reforestation. Sustainable projects should prioritize native trees in places that historically had them. This misconception that planting trees automatically creates habitat for species has often led to environmental changes that hurt both wildlife and people, Cook-Patton said. Habitat connectivity, animals’ population sizes and changing weather patterns ultimately drive whether wildlife will make use of newly forested areas, she said. As countries use land-based strategies to meet climate goals, Jeffrey Smith noted that changing habitats — removing, replacing or adding trees — has a much bigger effect on vertebrate (脊椎) species than climate change itself so far. “It’s not to say that addressing climate change isn’t good for biodiversity, but we have to be really aware of what it means for habitats,” he said. Another unintended effect of planting trees in historically unforested areas is albedo (反射率): the amount of sunlight reflected off of a surface. Lighter landscapes, such as a desert, reflect more solar energy, which keeps temperatures cooler. But darker landscapes, such as thick forests, absorb solar energy, increasing temperatures. The number-one option, however, is protecting existing forests. It stores more carbon, protects more biodiversity, and is 7-9 times more cost-effective than tearing them down and regrowing them later, according to a study in Nature Climate Change. “Given the urgency of climate action, preserving what’s left is crucial and properly restoring natural habitats with native species can go a long way for countries with limited resources.” Cook-Patton added, “We have to be very careful about how we communicate the complexities more broadly.” 8. Why does the author quote Susan Cook-Patton’s words “Right tree, right place, right way”? A. To criticize improper tree-planting. B. To popularize traditional tree-planting. C. To show the benefits of large-scale reforestation. D. To introduce a principle for sustainable reforestation. 9. What does the underlined word “drive” in paragraph 3 mean? A. Determine. B. Prevent. C. Weaken. D. Force. 10. What can be inferred about albedo from paragraph 4? A. Forests cool the air better than deserts. B. Low albedo creates cooler conditions. C. Dark surfaces can reflect large amounts of sunlight. D. Tree planting may warm historically treeless regions. 11. What is the best title for the text? A. More Forest, Less Carbon? B. More Trees, Better Planet? C. Native Trees: Key to Smart Reforestation D. Forest Conservation: A Solution to Biodiversity Loss D While traditional smart windows are often associated with protecting indoors from heat and unwanted sunlight, their reflective impact on outdoor environments is frequently overlooked. A research team led by Professor Hong Chul Moon from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology has developed a smart window technology that allows users to adjust incoming light and heat according to their needs, while also reducing strong light for pedestrians (行人). Unlike traditional smart windows, which passively respond to changes in temperature or light, these Korean smart windows allow real-time control via electrical signals. Their next-generation system, known as RECM, uses a electrical device to actively regulate the passing of both visible and near-infrared (近红线的) light that is invisible but produces heat. The RECM system works in three distinct modes, each activated by voltage (电压) control. In Mode I, ideal for winter months, this mode allows both sunlight and heat to pass through, much like a traditional window, to warm up indoor spaces naturally. In Mode Ⅱ, the window takes on a deep blue thanks to a chemical reaction forming two elements, providing privacy and a heat-blocking effect. In Mode Ⅲ, small metal bits attach to the surface and create a reflective layer that blocks both light and heat. Meanwhile, the colored layer absorbs reflected light, reducing external strong light and protecting pedestrians from being blinded. The research team also demonstrated the technology’s practical heat-blocking effect in an experiment using a small model house. While the indoor temperature of a model with regular glass rose to 58.7℃ in 45 minutes, the model equipped with the RECM technology in Mode Ⅲ only saw a rise to 31.5℃. “This research introduces a smart window platform that goes beyond current technology, which is limited to controlling indoor light, by also providing practical heat reduction and decreasing strong light for pedestrians,” said Professor Moon. “In the future, it could be used in various industries, including not only architecture but also in vehicles, trains, and more.” 12. What is a common problem with traditional smart windows? A. Inability to adjust indoor heat. B. Poor control over indoor sunlight. C. Lack of indoor privacy protection. D. Ignorance of external reflection effects. 13. What makes Mode Ⅲ different from the other two modes? A. Letting in sunlight directly. B. Changing into a blue state. C. Relying on outdoor temperatures. D. Benefiting indoor and outdoor environments. 14. What can be concluded from the experiment in paragraph 4? A. Regular glass fails to block outdoor heat. B. Mode Ⅲ consumes more electrical power. C. The system performs well in blocking heat. D. Indoor temperature depends on window sizes. 15. What is Professor Moon’s attitude towards the RECM technology? A. Positive. B. Neutral. C. Doubtful. D. Conservative. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 The term “Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (注意缺陷多动障碍)” was formalized in 1987, and it has been a source of confusion ever since. The name implies two things: that people with ADHD cannot pay attention, and that they are physically hyperactive. 16 People with ADHD can pay attention. In many cases, they can pay extraordinary attention, sometimes to the point of losing track of time. This capacity for deep focus, often called hyperfocus, is not a contradiction of the diagnosis. 17 The real issue isn’t the amount of attention, but the ability to consistently direct it toward important yet uninteresting tasks. Dr. William Dodson, a specialist in ADHD, describes their nervous system as “interest-based” rather than “priority-based.” 18 While some children with ADHD are visibly restless, many girls are not hyperactive at all in the physical sense. In adults, hyperactivity often transforms into internal restlessness: a mind that will not quiet down, difficulty sitting through meetings or relaxing without a screen. A comprehensive review of 31 behavioral studies found that ADHD is associated with genuine creative strengths, particularly in generating novel ideas and overcoming conventional thinking patterns. 19 Part of effective ADHD treatment is building the system that allows these creative strengths to actually produce results in the real world. Experts put forward the term VAST to redefine ADHD, regarding it as a different brain rather than a broken one. 20 Although ADHD brings real troubles in daily life, it also comes with unique strengths. We should treat ADHD as a different way of thinking, not a mental defect. A. In fact, both of these are incomplete descriptions. B. The hyperactivity component is similarly misunderstood. C. It is a core feature of how the ADHD brain regulates attention. D. This suggests that regulating attention is not a challenge for them. E. So improving creative thinking is the key to helping people with ADHD. F. This new definition helps correct the long-standing public misunderstanding. G. But creativity alone does not pay the bills if they have barriers to follow-through. 第二部分 语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 Most 10-year-olds spend their free time playing video games, but Ernesto is different. It is one of the 38 (tough) ancient trade roads in the world, which has carried and spread civilization and culture for centuries. The Tea Horse Road developed from the tea-horse trade between the Han and Tibetan peoples in the Tang Dynasty, when Tibetan people gradually developed 39 strong interest in tea. Sichuan-Tibet Tea Horse Road was 40 (official) recognized in the Ming Dynasty, 41 helped the commercial towns and cities along the road expand, and promoted communication between inland areas and Tibet. At that time, the biggest trading transfer station was Kangding in Sichuan, where traders from the West needed to change their means of transport or where they just traded with 42 (local). Through Kangding, domestic goods, such as silk and tea, 43 (sell) to the West and, in return, goods from Southern Asia, Europe, and America flowed to inland areas of China. My husband Eric was on business trip, so after picking up my 11-year-old son Nathan from school, I’d popped into the grocery store to buy a roast chicken for dinner. I figured that would buy me an extra hour to work on my project, since I wouldn’t have to cook that night. Now, it was 6:00 p.m., and I was typing away, making good progress. My kids were downstairs watching TV. My eleven-year-old son, Nathan, came into the room and said, “Mom, I’m getting hungry. Can you warm up the chicken now?” “In a little bit,” I answered without looking up from the computer. Ten minutes later, my older son Jordan came in to tell me he was hungry too. Fifteen minutes after that, my eighteen-year-old daughter Julia made the same request. I exploded: “Every one of you is old enough to put a roast chicken in the microwave. I have to finish the project before 3:00 tomorrow. I would think you would realize that I’m busy and just take some responsibility.” Twenty minutes later, a paper plate filled with chicken appeared on the desk next to my computer. I smiled sheepishly at the kids. “Sorry I yelled at you guys. I’m just so tired of being ATF around here.” “ATF?” “All Things Food. It’s my responsibility to plan the meals, shop for the food, cook the food, and then clean up the dishes afterward. If it’s food-related, it automatically falls to me.” Julia looked at her brothers, “In the following day, the three of us are ATF. Let’s leave Mom alone and go make a plan.” The next morning, Julia came home, carrying multiple bags of food with her brothers. An hour later, Nathan literally tiptoed into the room to deliver my breakfast to me and smiled, “I hope your work is going well,” he whispered and then tiptoed back downstairs. 注意: 1.续写词数应为150左右 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 After several productive hours of work, I could smell something cooking. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ We were about to have lunch when my husband came back. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
