Passage A(荷兰埃因霍温理工大学学生团队发明的ZEM电动汽车)
A team of 32 students at the Eindhoven University of Technology has created an electric car that can remove CO2 from the air while it drives down the road.
The two-seater sports car was designed and built in less than a year. It is called “ZEM”. According to the team, 10 ZEM cars on the road for a year can remove as much CO2 as a tree does in that time. There are over 1 billion passenger cars around the world now. If they could be replaced by ZEM, the result would be huge.

Passage B(讲述18岁高中生Zach开发卡路里识别APP Cal AI )
Have you ever wondered how many calories (卡路里) are in your lunch? A new app called Cal AI can help. All you have to do is take a photo of your food, and the app will tell you how many calories it has. It can also show you what nutrients (营养物) are in your dish.
Cal AI was created by Zach Yadegari, an 18-year-old student. In 2023, Zach tried using another calorie-counting app called MyFitnessPal to record his meals. But typing in everything he ate took too much time. “It was very boring and hard to use,” Zach said. After just three days, he gave up.
Zach wanted something faster and smarter. So, he teamed up with his high school friends to make a better app. Together, they trained Cal AI using pictures from three different AI models. The app can know both simple and complex (复杂的) foods, like sandwiches and packaged snacks. It has also learned to guess how much food is on the plate by matching photos to the standard servings.
Today, Cal AI is 90% correct, and it keeps improving with help from users. Since it came out in May 2024, it has been downloaded over five million times. In February 2025 alone, the app earned over $2 million!
One big reason for its success is social media. Zach gets in touch with fitness influencers and asks them to talk about Cal AI. Their followers see the posts, try the app and share it with others. As a result, it has become very popular among young users aged 15-25.
Zach finished high school this summer with top grades. Even though he has been accepted by several universities, he plans to take a gap year. He wants to make Cal AI even more correct and help people of all ages eat more healthily. This young coder (程序员) isn’t slowing down — he’s just getting started.

(2026·天津·中考真题)Scientists are creating robots that can be used in many different areas of life. Recently a new kind of robot which looks like a penguin has been developed. The penguin robot helps scientists get closer to emperor penguins (帝企鹅) to know more about their behaviour (行为).
Emperor penguins are famous as shy animals. They usually feel nervous and run away when scientists go towards them. This will cause problems to their hearts. To solve it, a team of scientists created a remote control vehicle (遥控车). This vehicle allowed the scientists to study the penguins from over 200 metres away. It could move up to the penguins slowly and quietly without making them run away. It was also used to help make the documentary (纪录片) March of the Penguins.
The scientists still wanted to watch emperor penguins much closer. After trying many times, they developed their latest robot which was like a little grey penguin. It had four black wheels, two black arms and a black-and-white painted face. The wheels were prepared for the robot to walk on the thick snow easily. This new robot didn’t scare (惊吓) the penguins. They even sang songs to welcome the robot and listened for a response. But the penguins were very unhappy when there was no answer. Passage2
Researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have estimated (估计) that the world may need about 1 billion new homes by 2050. According to a researcher from MIT, if people use wood to make so many homes, more than three times the size of the Amazon rainforest may be cut. The MIT researchers tried to find other materials to take the place of wood to make house parts. And they found recycled plastic could play a role.
The MIT team discovered that recycled plastic mixed with bits of glass could be used as a new material to make trusses (桁架)—supports put under floors to make sure that the floors can carry the weight of everything on them.
The MIT team wanted to know how much weight the trusses could carry. In a test, they 3D printed four trusses with the new material. Each truss weighed only about 6 kg—lighter than a comparable wooden truss. The team put the four trusses under a wooden floor model and slowly added heavy weights on the floor. Through the test, the team found the four trusses could sustain objects weighing more than 1,800 kg—about the weight of a car. This showed trusses made from the new material were strong enough to be used in house building in America.
The finding may benefit house building a lot. It will be much easier to send house parts made from this new material to different places. What’s more, the researchers say it is possible to bring down the cost of making house parts. The researchers hope that one day they can 3D print more house parts with the new material, so that more used plastic could be turned into something useful.

Passage 2
The 14th China Airshow was held from November 8th to 13th, 2024 in Zhuhai. Over 42 countries joined the show, such as America, Australia, the UK and many other countries. Among the different models of airplanes, the J-20 surprised many people.
Drones (无人机) are one of the best inventions in recent years. They are light and easy to carry, so they are popular. Small drones are often used for taking photos and light shows. Larger ones can smartly carry things to far places—for example, Meituan Takeout uses them to deliver food or packages (包裹) to offices in big cities like Shenzhen and Shanghai. Drones also help farmers: they check crops’ growth at different times a day, letting farmers look after five times more land than before. Scientists use underwater drones to get ocean CO2 information, a new way to study and protect the ocean.
Besides these uses, drones are also becoming heroes in our society. They can help search for lost people in the mountains or deliver important medical things to hospitals quickly. Sometimes, they can even save lives during natural disasters (灾害).
However, some experts are worried that drones may cause some problems. They think that some people may use the drones to do some bad things. For example, there are probably some robberies (抢劫) caused by the drones. Maybe some people use drones to steal (偷) some secret documents. Some people may even use them to hurt people. So the government should do something to guide people to use the drones in a right way.

Passage 3
In a small town, a new kind of “postman” has started to send letters and small packages. But this postman isn’t a person-it’s a drone (无人机). The drone, called “Sky Carrier”, was developed by a group of high school students led by 16-year-old Leo.
Before Sky Carrier, the town’s mail was slow. The post office was far, and bad weather often made the deliveries (递送) late. Leo’s grandmother, who lives alone, sometimes waited for weeks for her medicine. This gave Leo the idea to create a faster delivery method.
The drone can carry items up to 2 kilograms and fly to places within 10 kilometers. It uses GPS to find the exact address. To receive a package, people just need to put a special colored mat (垫子) in their yard. The drone detects the mat and lands safely.
Not everyone was happy at first. Some people worried about safety and noise. Leo and his team listened carefully. They added a quieter motor and made sure the drone always flew at a safe height. They also gave a report at the town meeting to explain how it worked. Slowly, people started to trust the drone. Now, many elderly people and busy families depend on it for important deliveries.
“Technology should serve people,” Leo says. “Seeing our drone help my grandmother and neighbors is the best reward.”
1.What is the main purpose of the drone “Sky Carrier” ?

B.They stopped using the drone.
C.They asked the post office for help.
D.They made the drone quieter and safer.
4.Which of the following is the best title for the passage?
A.How to Use a Drone Safely. B.Problems of Small Town Life.
C.A New Invention for Delivery. D.The History of the Post Office.
Passage 4
A robotic dog runs around a power station to check on it. The robotic dog has two cameras. 1 It is just one example of the wide use of high technology.
The robotic dog needs to check a 1,100 kilometer-long power line. The long power line totally runs 3,284 kilometers from northwest China’s Xinjiang to the eastern province of Anhui. 2
There are not enough workers at the power station. 3 But now robots have begun to change the condition. In Xinhe, a town in Chizhou, Anhui, which is surrounded (环绕) by mountains, a white drone (无人机) began its task in the mountains. Within half an hour, it has completed its 80-kilometer checking task. The high mountains make work quite difficult and dangerous. 4 Firefighters at another power station also use a robot. The robot can help them find fires as soon as possible.
5 They can take the place of humans to do many dangerous jobs. They will certainly have more uses in the future. And we expect that human beings will invent more robots and make better use of them.
A.In a word, robots have been used in many different fields.
B.They can clearly find out what’s wrong with the power station.
C.The drone can fly higher than any other machine.
D.So it is difficult to keep the power station running well.
E.Drones provide an effective (有效的) way, thanks to their high speed.
F.The “electric highway” is longer than any other power line in the world.

1.文中第1段提到“a new kind of ‘postman’ has started to send letters and small packages. But this postman isn’t a person—it’s a drone (无人机). The drone, called ‘Sky Carrier’”,说明“Sky Carrier”的主要用途是递送信件和小包裹。
2.文中第2段提到“Leo’s grandmother, who lives alone, sometimes waited for weeks for her medicine. This gave Leo the idea to create a faster delivery method”,说明是祖母因邮递缓慢而长时间等不到药品的经历,让Leo产生了发明更快递送方式的想法。
3.文中第4段提到“They added a quieter motor and made sure the drone always flew at a safe height”,说明Leo和团队通过让无人机更安静、更安全来解决人们的担忧。
C“A New Invention for Delivery”最能概括文章主旨。
【答案】1.B 2.F 3.D 4.E 5.A
1.上文提到“The robotic dog has two cameras.”,空格需要承接上文,说明机器狗设备的实际功能。选项B“They can clearly find out what’s wrong with the power station.”
F“The ‘electric highway’ is longer than any other power line in the world.”
3.上文提出“There are not enough workers at the power station.”,下文指出“But now robots have begun to change the condition.”,空格需要说明“工人不足”带来的结果,引出后文机器人解决问题的内容。选项D“So it is difficult to keep the power station running well.”
选项E“Drones provide an effective (有效的) way, thanks to their high speed.”
5.下文总结机器人的作用“They can take the place of humans to do many dangerous jobs.”,是全文的总结段落。 A“In a word, robots have been used in many different fields.”
