文中规定“A group of four or more people will get 20% off”(四人及以上团体享受八折优惠),计算方式为50×(1-20%)=40美元。
【3题详解】
根据“On Sundays from April to May, 2pm-5pm”可知,活动时间为下午2点到5点,持续3小时,A项正确;地址是“173 New Street”而非“Sunshine Street”,B项错误;报名方式是电话而非邮件,C项错误;文中提到“Paper and scissors are ready for you”,无需自备材料,D项错误。
【4题详解】
根据文章最后一句“If your children are big fans of Chinese culture, please give them a chance...”(如果你的孩子是……请给他们一个机会),这种语气表明海报是写给孩子的父母看的,呼吁家长给孩子报名。虽然内容是给孩子的,但决策者和付费者通常是家长,且语气是建议家长行动。因此,海报最可能是设计给家长看的。

Before I was in Grade Eight, I didn’t like to help others. I would get irritated when someone asked me for help. Then things changed.
One cloudy day, when I was walking to school, I met a tall man. Carrying a long thin stick and wearing sunglasses, he stood at the crossing. I found this a little strange as it was early in the morning and yet he was wearing sunglasses. But I didn’t think much about it and crossed the road.
When I reached the other side, suddenly I heard cars sounding their horns (喇叭). I turned around and saw that the man was in the middle of the road. It seemed that he was too scared to move. Just then, I knew that the man wasn’t able to see. I ran quickly back to him and helped him cross the road. The man turned his head to me and said, “Thank you very much for your kind help.”
It made me feel good to hear those words. In fact, I felt so good that I asked him where he was going and if he needed more help. He told me that he was going to a supermarket, which was not far from my school. I walked with him to the supermarket and then went to school.
From that day on, I often tried to help people in need. And now, I volunteer to help out at the old people’s home in front of my home every Sunday afternoon. Being helpful makes me happy and I no longer find it irritating.

Do you have your dream job? What job do you want to have when you grow up? When I was a little girl, I always dreamed of being different kinds of people. At first, I wanted to be a teacher because I thought it was cool to teach students new knowledge. I could see the sweet smiles on their faces when they understood something new. It felt like I was lighting up their minds. But later, after watching many exciting medical dramas on TV, I changed my mind. I hoped to become a doctor. I was deeply drawn by how doctors worked under pressure, using their skills to pull patients back from the edge of death. It seemed so amazing to me.

I know that the path to becoming a scientist is long and full of difficulties. But I’m ready. To make my dream come true, I am working hard at all subjects, especially math and science. No “I” in “Team”
At noon on 24 May 1960, four climbers stood alone on the “roof of the world”. They were near the top of a thirty-meter-high wall of rock. It was called the Second Step. The top of Mount Qomolangma seemed right within reach. But no one had ever climbed the last few meters of the Second Step before.
Liu Lianman led the way. He tried four times. Each time, he fell back into the snow. The thin air took his strength away. “I’m not strong enough to try again,” he thought. So he chose to be a “human ladder” for his teammates! He lowered his body and let Qu Yinhua stand on his shoulders. Slowly, bit by bit, Liu stood up and helped Qu climb to the top. Every second was painful, but Liu stood still. And he did the same for Gong Bu. Then he and Wang Fuzhou climbed up with a rope.
But Liu was too tired to keep going. The team were worried, but they had to carry on. They gave Liu all their oxygen. It was dangerous to climb without oxygen, but they knew Liu needed it. They made every effort through the cold and dark. Hours later, they reached the top of the towering mountain at 4:20 am on 25 May. They were the first Chinese to do so! They were also the first people to climb the difficult North Ridge. What’s more, no one had done so without using oxygen!
When they returned to base camp, they were welcomed as heroes. People cheered for Liu, too. He did not reach the top, but he shouldered his team into China’s mountaineering history.
13. What happened to the team at first?
A. They ran out of oxygen and had to return to base camp.
B. They got lost in the snow and couldn’t find the way back.
C. They reached the top of Mount Qomolangma successfully at noon.
D. They had difficulty climbing the last few meters of the Second Step.
14. What is the meaning of “human ladder” in paragraph 2?
A. A person who is good at repairing the ladder.
B. A ladder made of wood for mountain climbing.
C. A ladder built by climbers with rocks and ropes.
D. A person who gives up his own chance to help others succeed.
15. Which of the following is NOT an achievement of the team?
A. They were the first people to climb the difficult North Ridge.
B. They were the first to build a base camp on Mount Qomolangma.
C. They were the first to climb Mount Qomolangma without oxygen.
D. They were the first Chinese to reach the top of Mount Qomolangma.
