The three astronauts of China’s Shenzhou XXI task returned to Earth safely on Friday evening aboard the Shenzhou XXII manned spaceship, finishing a 210-day space stay that set a new record for China’s space station’s longest single-crew mission.
Zhang Lu, Wu Fei and Zhang Hongzhang are all in fine condition, said the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA), adding that the Shenzhou XXI space flight is a total success.
Ahead of May 30’s National Science and Technology Workers Day, Zhang Lu brought a carefully kept apple back to honor all sci-tech workers. “On our launch day, the ground team gave us an apple for a safe journey,” he said. “So we purposely brought one back to thank them for their endless hard work.”
During the mission, the crew did three space walks and finished tasks like checking the Shenzhou XX spaceship’s return capsule window, taking photos of it and installing space junk protective devices on the station. They also did many cargo transport jobs. The team made new progress in scientific experiments and technology tests, including basic physics in weightless space, space material science, life sciences, space medicine and new space technologies.
They completed special research on space-used lithium-ion batteries and related life science, fluid and combustion tests. For the first time on China’s space station, they raised mice in a closed environment, building a technical base for future space animal experiments.
In space medicine, the crew checked astronauts’ physical conditions without touching them by using smart technology to recognize small facial movements. They also grew cherry tomatoes and wheat without soil for the first time, proving key technologies. Additionally, they successfully lit a new liquid fuel in space, collecting light information on its ignition and continuous burning.
24. Why was the Shenzhou XXI mission special?
A. First mission with three astronauts.
B. Longest single-crew stay on China’s space station.
C. First mission lasting over 200 days in space.
D. Fastest return from space.
25. What was Zhang Lu’s aim by bringing back an apple?
A. To test how space affects fruits.
B. To show the space-preserved apple to the public.
C. To thank his science and technology colleagues.
D. To celebrate the mission success with sci-tech workers.
26. Which task did the crew NOT complete?
A. Took three spacewalks.
B. Grew wheat without soil.
C. Grew rice in a closed environment.
D. Installed space junk protection devices.
27. What can best describe the mission?
A. Successful but challenging.
B. Innovative but tiring.
C. Long-lasting and dangerous.
D. Successful and groundbreaking.
B 25. C 26. C 27. D
根据第一段中“The three astronauts of China’s Shenzhou XXI task returned to Earth safely on Friday evening aboard the Shenzhou XXII manned spaceship, finishing a 210-day space stay that set a new record for China’s space station’s longest single-crew mission.(中国神舟二十一号任务的三名航天员于周五晚间搭乘神舟二十二号载人飞船安全返回地球,结束了为期210天的太空驻留,刷新了中国空间站单次乘组在轨时间最长纪录)”可知,神舟二十一号任务的特别之处在于刷新了中国空间站单次乘组驻留时长纪录。
根据第三段中“Ahead of May 30’s National Science and Technology Workers Day, Zhang Lu brought a carefully kept apple back to honor all sci-tech workers. “On our launch day, the ground team gave us an apple for a safe journey,” he said. “So we purposely brought one back to thank them for their endless hard work.”(在5月30日全国科技工作者日来临之际,张陆特意带回一枚精心保存的苹果,向全体科技工作者致敬。他说:“发射当天,地面团队送了我们一个苹果,寓意一路平安。所以我们特意带回一个,感谢他们日复一日的辛勤付出。”)”可知,张陆带回苹果的目的是感谢科技战线的同事们。
【26题详解】
细节理解题。根据第五段中“For the first time on China’s space station, they raised mice in a closed environment, building a technical base for future space animal experiments.(在中国空间站,科研人员首次在封闭环境中成功饲养小鼠,为未来开展空间动物实验奠定了技术基础)”及第六段中“They also grew cherry tomatoes and wheat without soil for the first time, proving key technologies.(他们还首次在没有土壤的情况下种植了樱桃番茄和小麦,证明了关键技术)”可知,乘组在封闭环境中饲养的是小鼠,种植的是小麦,并未提及种植水稻。

Music has long been known for its ability to help people feel better, and when combined with artificial intelligence (AI), this healing effect becomes more accurate. This is shown by the new AI music therapy machine displayed at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai. Developed by the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, this machine offers personalized healing experiences for users.
Inside the machine, users wear special devices that check their brain activity and heart rate while sitting in comfortable chairs that feel like zero gravity. They relax to soft background music with natural sounds, such as birds singing or water flowing, and watch real-time information about their brain and body on a screen. Before the therapy starts, users fill out a form about their health and birth date. AI combines this information with real-time body data to create personalized music and matching pictures. After the session, they get a report on their therapy and a customized music plan.
The machine works by turning each person’s unique brain signals into sound waves through special computer programs. AI quickly studies personal characteristics and real-time body signs to make suitable sound environments, meeting both general and individual needs for healing through sound. It brings technology and art together, based on years of research by the conservatory’s lab.
This creative tool has many uses: it can help with sleep problems, low mood, and support babies born too early, children with special needs, and elderly people’s health care. It is already working with hospitals like Shanghai Huashan Hospital to help children with special needs, reduce pain, and ease exam stress for students.
Experts say AI is playing a bigger role in mental health care. Besides music therapy, AI can find emotional changes from social media posts or talks to spot risks of low mood. It also guides patients through mental health exercises and helps train children with special needs using virtual reality systems. As AI and music work together, they bring new hope for better mental and physical health.

D
In an era filled with short videos, 15-second social media posts, and endless phone notifications, deep reading — the slow, focused practice of engaging with long texts — is often seen as an outdated habit. However, growing research in brain science and education warns that the decline of deep reading is quietly harming young people’s intellectual and emotional growth.
According to a 2025 study by the American Psychological Association, teenagers’ average attention span has dropped from 12 seconds in 2010 to just 8 seconds in 2025 — even shorter than a goldfish’s. Researchers link this directly to the rise of “skimming culture,” where people scan digital content for key words instead of reading carefully. While skimming is useful for processing large amounts of information fast, it cannot replace the cognitive benefits of deep reading.
Unlike skimming, deep reading requires continuous focus and critical thinking. When reading long, complex texts, our brains connect ideas, follow logical arguments, and imagine described scenes. This strengthens the prefrontal cortex (前额叶皮层) — the brain area controlling decision-making, problem-solving, and emotional regulation. A 2024 Stanford University study found that students who did regular deep reading scored 23% higher on critical thinking tests than those who only read short digital content.
Beyond cognitive gains, deep reading fosters empathy. Reading literary stories lets us step into characters’ lives, share their feelings, and see the world through their eyes. This helps young people understand others — a vital skill in an increasingly divided world.
Critics argue deep reading is inefficient in the digital age, where information is abundant and time limited. But this misses the point: deep reading is not just about learning facts. It builds the ability to understand, analyze, and care about the world. As leading brain scientist Maryanne Wolf said: “We read not only to know others’ experiences, but to become people who think deeply, feel deeply, and act wisely.”
32. What is the purpose of mentioning goldfish in the text?
A. To show goldfish have short attention spans.
B. To compare human and fish brain structures.
C. To criticize teenagers’ screen addiction.
D. To highlight teens’ even shorter attention span.
33. What is directly supported by the 2024 Stanford study?
A. Deep reading strengthens the prefrontal cortex.
B. Skimming helps process information quickly.
C. Deep reading improves critical thinking test scores.
D. Attention spans have dropped since 2010.
34. What is the author’s attitude toward the critics’ view?
A. He thinks it ignores something.
B. He finds it completely wrong.
C. He agrees with their concern.
D. He is unsure about the truth.
35. What is the main idea of the text?
A. Skimming works better than deep reading now.
B. Less deep reading hurts young people’s growth.
C. Short videos and social media lengthen people’s attention.
D. Young people think deep reading is old-fashioned.
D 33. C 34. A 35. B

根据第二段中的“According to a 2025 study by the American Psychological Association, teenagers’ average attention span has dropped from 12 seconds in 2010 to just 8 seconds in 2025 — even shorter than a goldfish’s. (根据一份美国心理学会2025年的研究,青少年的平均注意力时长已经从2010年的12秒下降到2025年仅8秒——甚至比一条金鱼的(注意力时长)更短。)”可知,文中提及金鱼是为突出青少年注意力时长变得更短。
【33题详解】
细节理解题。根据第三段中的“A 2024 Stanford University study found that students who did regular deep reading scored 23% higher on critical thinking tests than those who only read short digital content. (斯坦福大学2024年的一项研究发现,经常进行深度阅读的学生,其批判性思维测试分数比只阅读简短数字内容的学生高出23%。)”可知,该研究直接佐证深度阅读能提升批判性思维测试成绩。
【34题详解】
推理判断题。根据第五段中的“Critics argue deep reading is inefficient in the digital age, where information is abundant and time limited. But this misses the point: deep reading is not just about learning facts. (批评者称在信息海量、时间有限的数字时代,深度阅读效率低下。但这种观点忽略了重点:深度阅读不只是为了获取事实。)”可知,作者认为批评者的观点遗漏了关键层面。
【35题详解】
主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是第一段中的“However, growing research in brain science and education warns that the decline of deep reading is quietly harming young people’s intellectual and emotional growth.
The Power of Starting Small
Why is it that we often set big goals but end up giving up halfway? As a high school student, you may have experienced this with study plans or personal projects. The problem is not a lack of motivation; it’s that we tend to aim too high too soon. ____36____
Here’s a simple truth: small, consistent steps lead to remarkable results. ____37____ For example, if you want to improve your vocabulary, memorizing just five words a day adds up to over 1,800 words in a year. That’s the power of accumulation.
To put this into practice, start by picking one tiny habit. Make it so easy that you can’t say no. ____38____ If your goal is to exercise more, commit to just five minutes a day. This low barrier makes it easier to begin.
Another key is to track your progress. There’s something motivating about seeing a chain of successes. ____39____ You could use a simple checklist or a calendar. Each tick reinforces your commitment.
Finally, don’t underestimate the importance of celebrating small wins. Give yourself credit for showing up. ____40____ It helps you associate the habit with positive feelings, making you more likely to stick with it.
Remember, you don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great. Embrace the power of small beginnings.
A. This approach transforms a vague intention into a concrete action.
B. As a result, we often feel overwhelmed and quit.
C. It’s a visual reminder of how far you’ve come.
D. That sense of accomplishment, however tiny, fuels your motivation.
E. Before you know it, these small efforts grow into something significant.
F. The key is to keep the initial commitment extremely modest.
G. They might seem insignificant at first glance.
B 37. E 38. F 39. C 40. D
空前提出问题“Why is it that we often set big goals but end up giving up halfway?(为什么我们设定了大目标却半途而废)”,并给出诊断——“The problem is not a lack of motivation; it’s that we tend to aim too high too soon.(问题不是缺动力,而是我们往往一开始目标定得太高)”。 B项“As a result, we often feel overwhelmed and quit.(因此,我们常常感到心力交瘁,最终选择放弃。)”符合语境,其中“As a result”与上文“aim too high too soon”构成明确的因果关系。
空前提出核心观点“small, consistent steps lead to remarkable results.(小而持续的步骤带来显著成果)”,空后紧接着“For example, if you want to improve your vocabulary, memorizing just five words a day adds up to over 1,800 words in a year. That’s the power of accumulation.(举个例子,如果你想提升词汇量,每天只背 5 个单词,一年积累下来就能掌握 1800 多个单词。这就是积累的力量。)”用词汇积累的数据例证。空格应起到承上启下的过渡作用,将抽象观点与具体例证连接起来。正确选项需要强调小努力“累积后的显著变化”,才能自然引出“一年1800词”这一数据。E项“Before you know it, these small efforts grow into something significant.(不知不觉间,这些点滴努力终将汇聚成了不起的成果。)” “Before you know it”带有时间累积感,与后文“一年后1800词”呼应。
空前提出“To put this into practice, start by picking one tiny habit. Make it so easy that you can’t say no. (想要将这个道理付诸实践,先从养成一个微小的习惯开始。把这件事设置得足够简单,简单到你无法推脱。)”选择一个微小习惯,让它容易到你无法拒绝,空后“If your goal is to exercise more, commit to just five minutes a day. (如果你的目标是多运动,那就只要求自己每天锻炼五分钟。)”以“每天只锻炼五分钟”作为具体例子。空格处应对“Make it so easy”这一策略做出进一步解释。F项“The key is to keep the initial commitment extremely modest. (关键在于,最初给自己定下的目标要尽可能微小。)”符合,其中“keep the initial commitment extremely modest”与上文“make it so easy”完全对应,“the key is to…”
空前说“Another key is to track your progress. There’s something motivating about seeing a chain of successes(另一个关键是记录自己的进展。看着一连串持续达成的成果,会让人充满动力。)”记录进度,看到一连串的成功会带来激励感,空后“You could use a simple checklist or a calendar. Each tick reinforces your commitment.(你可以用简易清单或是日历来记录。每一次打勾,都会更加坚定你的坚持。)”具体举例“用清单或日历,每个勾号强化承诺”。空格需要解释为什么记录成功链会带来激励,同时要与后文的“打勾”“清单”“日历”等视觉化工具形成语义连接。C项“It’s a visual reminder of how far you’ve come.(它直观地提醒你,你已经取得了不小的进步。)” Each tick,“how far you’ve come”解释了记录为何激励人心——因为它让你看到自己已经走过了多远。
空前说“Give yourself credit for showing up(只要你愿意行动,就值得肯定自己。)”给自己点赞,空后说“It helps you associate the habit with positive feelings, making you more likely to stick with it.(这能帮你把这个习惯和积极的感受联系起来,让你更有可能长期坚持下去。)” It 指代空格内容,且此内容必须能被“associate the habit with positive feelings”合理解释。D项“That sense of accomplishment, however tiny, fuels your motivation.(无论多么微不足道,那份成就感都会为你注入源源不断的动力。)”

Yours,
Li Hua
Dear Eric,
Thank you for sharing your view. While I acknowledge the value of talent, I believe effort matters most, followed by method, then talent.
First and foremost, nothing can replace persistent hard work, which can lay a solid foundation for our dreams. Meanwhile, effective methods can make our efforts more productive and help us avoid detours. Last but not least, talent is merely an initial advantage, which is bound to fade away without diligence and proper ways. Only when we combine devotion and smart ways with it can we make steady progress and finally achieve our goals.
Looking forward to your thoughts.
Yours,
Li Hua

When Chris entered high school, he described himself as “a thin kid... really shy and socially awkward” with little faith in his own abilities. He loved playing baseball but always doubted his skills. He would often stand at the back during team tryouts, hoping nobody would notice him. When his teammates talked about their achievements, Chris just listened in silence, believing he had nothing worth sharing. After hearing about Joe Yager’s gym — a small training space where players can only enter by invitation — Chris and his father showed up nervously, hoping for a chance.
“We’re here for training,” they said cautiously, standing at the doorway. At first, Joe Yager had to refuse: the gym was already full, and he stuck strictly to his rule. Chris felt his heart sink. He lowered his head and turned away without a word. But as the pair walked out, their heads low with clear disappointment, Yager felt a sudden pull at his heart. He saw something in the boy — a quiet hunger for change that reminded him of his younger self. He called out, “Hey, wait a minute.” That quick decision would go on to change Chris’s life completely.
Chris was overjoyed yet still shy. He was very quiet, not the type to walk up to someone and ask for help. During the first few training sessions, he would stand in the corner, afraid of doing something wrong. Yager, however, saw hidden talent beneath the nervousness and chose to help him when no one else would. “He was the one who reached out his hand and said, ‘Hey, I can help you,’” Chris later recalled with deep thankfulness. Those simple words planted a seed of hope in the boy’s heart — a seed that, with time and care, would grow into a strong desire to pass on that same kindness.

Under Yager’s patient guidance, Chris began his training with new-found determination. He turned up at the gym earlier than every other trainee each dawn and lingered long after closing hours, repeating the assigned drills tirelessly. Whenever exhaustion or self-doubt crept in, Yager’s steady, uplifting words pulled him back on track: “You’re far stronger than you believe.” As weeks rolled by, his batting swings grew precise and his movements fluid. Though he still made errors from time to time, Chris learned to view missteps as stepping stones to progress instead of proof of inadequacy. The gym, which once filled him with anxiety, gradually turned into his second home, where constant effort and perspiration reshaped his body and mindset entirely.
Paragraph 2:
Gradually, Chris not only excelled in sports, but also transformed himself into a confident and inspiring young man. He secured a permanent position on the school baseball team as a starting player. More remarkably, his newly gained confidence spilled over into every part of his life. He dared to voice his opinions in class and built close friendships with classmates. Most touching of all, he took the initiative to comfort and assist timid teammates trapped in the same awkwardness he once suffered from. After each practice, Chris would spare extra time coaching them with the same endless patience Yager had offered him. Through this experience, he fully realized that the warmth and support he had been blessed with were never meant to stop with him—kindness was a precious gift meant to be passed on.

C. Grew rice in a closed environment.
D. Installed space junk protection devices.
27. What can best describe the mission?
A. Successful but challenging.
B. Innovative but tiring.
C. Long-lasting and dangerous.
D. Successful and groundbreaking.

28. Why is AI music therapy more effective?
A. Creating relaxing music with AI and natural sounds.
B. Achieving better targeting and effects with AI.
C. Being developed by well-known music schools.
D. Bringing more comfort with zero-gravity chairs.
29. What does the underlined word “customized” mean?
A. Suitable for a specific person.
B. Designed for customers.
C. Easy to understand and follow.
D. Created by professional musicians
30. How does the machine make personalized sound environments?
A. By creating sound waves and analyzing personal features.
B. By using VR to simulate natural environments.
C. By meeting different healing needs.
D. By picking the user’s favourite sounds and music.
31. What can we infer from the text?
A. AI-plus-music will be the top health care tool.
B. Traditional music therapy works poorly without AI.
C. This music therapy tool may have various values.
D. Personalized music therapy is a must for people.
