Poems from Tang and Song dynasties (朝代), operas from Yuan dynasty, and novels from Ming and Qing dynasties are very famous in China’s history. Song of Autumn, one of the poems by Liu Yuxi (772-842), a famous poet and writer in the mid Tang dynasty is always praised by people.
Most ancient (古代的) poets liked to describe autumn as a sad time, but in this poem the season appears differently. In Liu’s eyes, autumn, full of life and hope, is even better than spring morning. He describes the bright scene of a crane (鹤) riding the clouds and flying into the clear sky. With his poems paying special attention to expressing personal feelings, as well as the daily life of common people, Liu wrote poems with beautiful music-like words. You may feel it in this poem.
Here is another example. In Liu’s essay An Epigraph in Praise of my Humble Cell (《陋室铭》), with less than 100 words, he shows a lively picture of his humble cell. However, it also shows how he was pleased with the poor and simple life. People may find it strange that one can feel happy living in such a humble cell. Learning from his famous sentence “be fragrant because of my virtues (斯是陋室,惟吾德馨)”, I think to be a respectable man is more important than to live in big houses, to wear beautiful clothes, to enjoy delicious food, and even to gain knowledge.
29. How was autumn in Liu’s eyes at that time?
A. He thought it was a sad time.
B. He thought that autumn was rather cloudy.
C. He thought spring was better.
D. He thought autumn was a hopeful season.

A. Sad. B. Strange. C. Happy. D. Hopeless.
31. Influenced by Liu Yuxi, which of the following does the writer think is the most important?
A. To live in a big house. B. To be a respectable man.
C. To wear beautiful clothes. D. To gain more knowledge.

China has tried hard to improve the environment all these years. Now a piece of good news makes everyone excited. China has built a national park in Jilin and Heilongjiang. The park is especially for two kinds of animals—the Amur leopard and the Siberian tiger (远东豹和西伯利亚虎).
This park is part of China’s whole national parks plan. It covers 5,600 square miles—much larger than Yellowstone National Park in the USA. China finished the whole plan in 2020. The park is one of the largest big cat parks in the world.
In fact, the two big cats have already been in big danger. In 2007, there were only fewer than 30 Amur leopards living in the wild. What’s worse, the Siberian tiger’s situation was no better than that. If we don’t do something to protect them, we may not see any of them one day.
In order to save the animals, China came up with the idea of a national park. What’s more, China has become the world’s biggest investor (投资者) in green technology. The country is trying its best to protect the environment.
32. Where is the new national park?
A. In Hangzhou and Suzhou. B. In Beijing and Zhangjiakou.
C. In Jilin and Heilongjiang. D. In Hong Kong and Taiwan.
33. From Paragraph 2, we can learn that ________.
A. China will build only one national park in the world in the future
B. the Yellowstone National Park covers 5,600 square miles
C. the Yellowstone National Park is bigger than the new one
D. there is China’s whole national parks plan
34. Who is the world’s biggest investor in green technology now?
A. China. B. America. C. Russia. D. England.
35. What is the passage mainly about?
A. The government hopes that more people will visit the national park.
B. China has tried to improve the environment all these years.
C. The Amur leopards and the Siberian tigers are in danger.
D. China’s national park is much larger than the Yellowstone National Park.

What do you get when you mix garlic (大蒜) and a robot? You get “Xiaosuan” (meaning “Little Garlic”)—a cute robot guide dog now working at Shenzhen Metro (地铁)!
On December 13, 2025, Shenzhen Metro started trying something new at Huangmugang Station. A robot guide dog named “Xiaosuan” began helping blind passengers get around. It is the first robot guide dog ever used in a subway system anywhere in the world.
Why “Garlic”? Well, “suan” in Chinese also means “computing power”. And just like garlic adds taste to food, this robot adds convenience to travel!
Xiaosuan may look small, but it’s full of cool technology. Blind passengers can simply say, “Take me to the lift,” and Xiaosuan will plan the best route (路线), avoid people and things in its way, and follow special paths for the blind. It can even notice things that real dogs might miss, like glass doors. One user named Mo said after trying it, “Unlike real guide dogs, it doesn’t lose focus. That makes me feel more confident while walking.”
Right now, Xiaosuan waits near the lifts at Exits 13 and 14. During this test, a metro worker stays nearby to make sure everything goes well. If the test is successful, more such robots will appear at other stations in the future. Many people online love this idea. One person wrote, “Technology makes life better. Shenzhen is truly a city of dreams.”
36. Who is “Xiaosuan”?
A. A piece of garlic. B. A real dog.
C. A blind man. D. A smart robot.
37. How can Xiaosuan help blind passengers?
A. It can communicate with them happily.
B. It can help them buy metro tickets.
C. It can lead them to find the right place.
D. It can wait for them right at the lift.
38. What does the underlined word “That” mean in Paragraph 4?
A. Noticing glass doors. B. Never losing attention.
C. Leading a way to the lift. D. Speaking to blind passengers.
39. What can be learned about Xiaosuan from Paragraph 5?
A. It will be used in more places if it works well in this test.
B. It may replace all human workers at the metro station soon.
C. It has already been put into use at every station in Shenzhen.
D. It will soon be taken out of service because it costs too much.
40. In which part of a newspaper can we probably find the passage?
A. Art. B. Sports. C. Nature. D. Technology.
第二节 阅读表达(共5题;每题2分,满分10分)
阅读下面短文,简略回答问题。
When I was in junior high school, what my friends thought of me was really important to me. During those years I grew much taller than most of my classmates. Being so tall made me feel uncomfortable.
In order to keep the focus off my unusual height, I went along with the group who would play jokes on other kids at school. This gave me a chance to make sure that the jokes were directed at others, and not at me.
I thought it was funny to make fun of others, but it ended when my father knew that. “You are doing a wrong thing. You shouldn’t transfer your pain into someone else.” My father reminded me about the Golden Rule: to treat others as you would like to be treated (以你希望别人待你的方式待人).
I told my father that I was afraid that others would laugh at my height. “But that makes you special. You should see the good in yourself and not hurt others,” my father said. I realized what I did was wrong.
I found that I was talented in playing basketball because of my height. With my efforts, I joined the school basketball team. What was more, I found that no one cared about my height, and they just thought I was an excellent basketball player.

30. How did Liu feel about living in a humble cell in the writer’s opinion?
A. Sad. B. Strange. C. Happy. D. Hopeless.

China has tried hard to improve the environment all these years. Now a piece of good news makes everyone excited. China has built a national park in Jilin and Heilongjiang. The park is especially for two kinds of animals—the Amur leopard and the Siberian tiger (远东豹和西伯利亚虎).
