In some sense, he is virtually a beacon of hope, encouraging us never to give up. On top of that, it is his rich experience and devotion to teaching that not only give us easy access to professional knowledge but most importantly shape our character.

1.比赛时间和地点; 2.推荐话题。
Dear George,
Hope this email finds you well. I'm writing with exciting news: our school is hosting a Chinese Speech Contest for international students, and the theme is "My Favorite Chinese Figure." It's scheduled for next Friday at 3 PM in the school auditorium.
I immediately thought of you and would like to highly recommend that you consider presenting about Confucius. As the foremost philosopher in Chinese history, his teachings on education, moral ethics, and social harmony have profoundly shaped Chinese culture for over two millennia. Phrases like "Do not impose upon others what you yourself do not desire" are still widely quoted today. I believe his philosophy aligns with global values and would be very relatable for the audience.
This contest is a perfect platform to hone your Chinese skills and delve deeper into our culture. I'm more than happy to help you gather materials and practice your delivery. Let me know if you're interested! We'd all love to see you there.
Warmly,
Li Hua

Dear Jim,
Your letter came to me this morning. I'm delighted that you have developed an interest in Chinese history.
When it comes to my favourite figure in Chinese history, it must be Confucius, China's most famous teacher, philosopher, and political theorist. Many of his words of wisdom that have been passed down from generation to generation have made a profound impact on the Chinese. In fact, he inspires me to become a teacher in the future for the purpose of cultivating talents.

假如你是李华,近日你校将举办英语演讲活动,题目“The Person I Admire Most”,请你用英语写一封演讲稿。
注意:
1.人物:钟南山、袁隆平、屠呦呦选其中一位;
2.词数100词左右(开头和结尾已给出,但不计入总词数)
The Person I Admire Most
I am very glad to share my topic with you. The person I admire the most is Yuan Longping, an agricultural pioneer of China. It's known that there exists hunger in many countries. To help more people to get enough food, Yuan Longping devoted himself to improving the output of hybrid rice. Thanks to his research, the output of hybrid has been doubled. More importantly, Yuan Longping was willing to share his achievement with others, which contributes to ridding the world of hunger.
As for me, Yuan Longping was the greatest person in the world. It is his devotion that made him successful and his commitment inspired me a lot. Actually, I have some difficulty in learning English. However, where there is devotion, there is a way. I really believe that my devotion can make me expert in English.
I sincerely hope that everyone can learn from the person you admire and thus make great contributions to the whole world.
Thank you for your listening. That's all.
Dear Peter.
I'm writing to ask whether you are able to do me a favor.
I want to have a pen friend, hopefully a girl in her early twenties, and with interests similar to mine. In my mind, she is someone who is interested in travelling, swimming, and playing table tennis. Beside, it would be better for her to have a pet dog as I have kept one at home for some time. With such a pen friend, I hope I can share with her our experiences in travelling, taking care of pets, or whatever we have in common. And I believe I will improve my English by doing so and learn more about her country.
Yours,
Li Hua

The Person Who Shapes Me: My English Teacher
Good morning, everyone.
Today, I stand here to talk about the person who has profoundly shaped me—my English teacher, Ms. Liu.
Before entering high school, I was a timid girl who dreaded speaking English in public. In my first English class, Ms. Liu told us, "Mistakes are the portals of discovery." She created a supportive environment where every attempt was celebrated. I still remember the day she encouraged me to join the debate team. I was full of self-doubt, but she spent hours after school practicing with me, not just on language, but on logic and confidence.
Her faith ignited a spark within me. Gradually, my stuttering speeches turned into fluent expressions. More importantly, her philosophy towards mistakes taught me resilience. Now, I no longer see challenges as threats, but as opportunities for growth. This shift in mindset is the most valuable gift I've received from her.
Ms. Liu is more than a teacher; she is a guide who helped me discover a braver and better self. Thank you.
