Language Focus
01. Past Tense
02. Shared Action
03. Exclamations
Last summer, I went to Sydney with my parents.
This is a past tense sentence. The verb 'go' changes to its irregular past form 'went' to show the action that happened before now.
My sister and I built sandcastles on the beach.
Even with two subjects ('sister and I'), the verb still uses the past tense form 'built' to describe a completed shared activity.
What a wonderful time we had!
Structure: What a/an + adjective + noun + subject + verb! Use this to express strong positive feelings about an experience.
💡 Tip: Always check the verb form for past events. Irregular verbs like 'go', 'build', and 'have' change spelling in the past tense!
Think and share.
Your Travel Story
1. Where did you go?
2. Who did you go with?
3. What did you do there?
4. How did you feel?
Think about the place you visited. It could be a city, a park, or a beach. Example: I went to Beijing.
Did you travel alone, with family, or friends?
Example: I went there with my family.
Describe the fun activities or interesting places you saw. Example: We visited the Great Wall and took many photos.
Share your emotions about the trip. Were you excited, happy, or surprised? Example: I felt very happy. I had a wonderful time.
