It was two years before this means of running brought out multiple physical discomforts in me.Then a major injury-my broken ankle-sidelined me for three months, forcing me to switch to long, unhurried walks in the nearby park-no watch,no headphones and just the rhythm of my footsteps. It came as a revelation:I noticed the golden color of dusk filtering through oak leaves, the laughter of children echoing from the playground and the smell of freshly baked bread floating from a nearby bakery. When I returned to running,I resolved to abandon the addiction to PBs,cheosing for a pace gentle enough to allow off-key singing without breathing heavily.I joined a social running group, where we paused to pet dogs and share weekly stories. Then trail running )where roots and rocks demand full attention to footing rather than speed, became my new pursuit.Initially,it felt odd, like I was cheating, casting me into a mild state of disquiet with this unaccustomed pace.Soon, this shift brought clarity. One Saturday dawn,an aimless run led me to a reservoir As I watched the sunlight sparkling on the water,I realized I hadn't checked my electronic watch even once-no thoughts of pace or distance, just pure pleasure in running. That's when it hit me:The importance of running doesn't lie in pursuing data but in fully living in the present, embracing surrounding delights and connecting with my body, nature and the world. That, indeed,is the greatest personal best of all. Now,I run to relax after a long workday,to bond with friends and to witness sunrises.Occasionally I race at full speed, only when it feels fulfilling, not driven by a device and letting go of the need to prove myself. 24.What can we learn about the author in paragraph 1? A.He felt tired of daily training. B.He ran to compete with others. C.He used GPS to explore routes. D.He cared too much about his records. 25.What does the underlined word "revelation"in paragraph 2 probably refer to? A.A temporary relief. B.A deep regret. C.A refreshing realization D.A painful recovery 26.What is the author's current attitude towards his GPS watch? A.Highly dependent. B.Less concerned. C.Strongly critical. D.Deeply confused. 27.What does the author's experience convey? A.Physical injuries often lead to mental growth B.Setting practical goals is important for athletes. C.True pleasure in sports lies beyond tracking data. D.Social connection is the ultimate goal of running. 第4页共10页 ▣▣ Q夸克扫描王 极速扫描,就是高效 ▣ If you've ever played on a sports team or been to gym class, you probably know the practice.First, you do some warm-ups.Then you stretch ()Exercises and activities follow. At the end of the exercise, you do more stretches. For years, coaches and gym teachers have believed that stretching helps athletes perform better, and suffer fewer injuries. From the health club to the football field, everywhere you look, people stretch. Now research suggests that stretching may not do your body as much good as people thought. After reviewing more than 350 scientific studies, researchers from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC)found that stretching may not cut the chance of injury. "There is not enough evidence to show that stretching is effective,"says Stephen Thacker, director of the CDC's epidemiology(流行病学)program in Atlanta.“Certain athletes stretch all the time, but they're the ones who are more likely to get hurt."Thacker points to professional baseball players as an example. They all do stretches before a game.Yet baseball players have one of the highest rates of injury in any sport. To understand why stretching may be a bad idea,it helps to know how muscles work.It all starts with orders from the brain.Special cells called neurons (carry electrical messages from the brain through the nervous system to the muscles you want to activate. As soon as the messages get to their targets, the muscles react. When you stretch, you lengthen muscle fibers. It then takes longer for messages from the brain to travel through them. Stretching before you exercise is particularly risky, experts say.Instead of stretching before an activity, they recommend warming up by starting slowly to get blood and oxygen flowing to your muscles. 28.What is the common belief about stretching among coaches and gym teachers? A.It improves performance. B.It should be avoided in matches. C.It is only useful for athletes. D.It may increase the risk of injuries. 29.What does Thacker want to explain by mentioning professional baseball players? A.The downside of stretching. B.The purpose of the CDC's study. C.The value of the group game D.The necessity of doing warm-ups. 30.What happens to muscle fibers when you stretch? A.They receive more electrical messages. B.They become shorter and tighter. C.They lengthen and slow signal transmission. D.They send signals directly to the brain. 31.What do experts recommend for warming up before exercise? A.Focusing on your thoughts. B.Stretching as much as possible. C.Following the coach's order. D.Starting with slow movements. 第5页共10页 ▣▣ Q夸克扫描王 极速扫描,就是高效 ▣1 D Global sea levels continue to rise despite efforts that cities around the world are making to reduce the effects of climate change and their carbon emissions. One firm, however,is hoping to battle the effects of climate change.Driven by alarming estimates that 36.6 million people in Asian coastal cities like Mumbai could face flooding by 2070,Luca Curci Architects, based in Venice,Italy, has released Floating City-a design that would allow urban areas to rise with the waters while making use of renewable energies to reduce their own carbon emissions. Each 25-acre unit houses 50,000 residents on interconnected platforms, with potential expansion for 200,000 and buildings are capped at 90 meters tall for stability."Structures must be flexible like bamboo in wind to resist waves,"explains architect Curci. To achieve this, seawater resistant materials are given priority to,while hollow sections in platforms help them float.Meanwhile, movable bridges are constructed to link these "water neighborhoods"to mainland transport systems. The project team also envisions a mix of renewable energy sources extracting power from wind, water, and the sun to power the city.During extreme weather, platforms automatically separate and regroup using intelligence algorithms inspired by how fish schools avoid hunters. Compared to building artificial islands, this method preserves 68%more marine ( life and uses surfaces that absorb rainwater to reduce flooding risks. However, challenges persist.Seawater slowly harms materials, requiring repair every four months, and emergency plans for extreme weather are still under way."This isn't about abandoning coasts but evolving with them,"notes designer Tim Fu. While some question long-term possibility, the design redefines urban resilience.Unlike rigid sea walls, these dynamic structures harmonize with oceanic rhythms, offering a blueprint for climate solutions."Cities must learn to dance with the waves,"Curci says. This philosophy could transform humanity's relationship with rising seas, turning threats into sustainable opportunities. 32.What drove Luca Curci Architects to come up with a new design? A.Energy crisis. B.Potential disasters. C.Tourism expansion. D.Overcrowded cities. 33.Which of the following best describes Luca Curci's design? A.Fictional and renewable B.Adaptable and innovative. C.Eco-friendly and immovable. D.Wave-resistant and conventional. 34.What's a limitation of Luca Curci's design? A.It threatens marine life. B.It lacks clean energy options. C.It requires regular maintenance. D.It ignores coastal water changes. 35.Which of the following can be a suitable title for the text? As a child in London, she stayed connected to nature:eating blackberries from a fence and making wishes on dandelions. She truly believes humans and nature are closely linked.I highly recommend this book.Copies are available in our school library-go check one out if you're interested. This is in the heart of the site where the hot water comes from the ground at a temperature of 46C.The water is rich in minerals and it's said that it would cure various illnesses.Next,we will pass through the site of the temple. Here,we are. This temple is one of the only two known classical Roman temples in Britain. The other is the temple of Claudius at Colchester. This temple is said to have been built for centuries, and over time, due to serious damage caused by human activities, what you can see here are just bits of the original temple.Okay, let's move on. 4 ▣▣ Q夸克扫描王 极速扫描,就是高效 ▣
