William used to be a kid who never dared to express his true thoughts. He always agreed with everything his friends said.
One day, he and his friends were discussing whether middle school students should bring their phones to school. His friends all thought they should, but William didn’t agree. However, because he didn’t have the courage to speak out his mind, he chose to agree with them. “It means gentlemen achieve harmony (和谐), but they don’t just blindly agree with others. They have their own ideas, and they can tell the truth bravely. Flunkies agree easily, but they don’t really work together,” his mom explained.
Suddenly, William was inspired and realized that having different ideas was not a bad thing at all. He was very thankful for the book. He decided to be brave enough to express his own thoughts. Last night, my grandma asked me, “Honey, how can I book plane tickets online?” I taught her how to do that after I came back home. It made me think about a question: how many other old people would have the same problem? Modern technology has made our daily lives easier. However, some old people can not get anything out of it because they are not familiar with the new things. They need someone who can teach them and answer their questions.
Thankfully, a teenager from Fort Myers named Aaron Smolyar thought of a way to solve the problem. A lot of teenagers he knows shared the same stories-some inventions were still a big problem for their grandparents. It’s a common problem that no one is willing to join in and address. So Aaron and his classmate Christian Laquis set up a group called CLEO to help elderly people understand technology.
Aaron and his classmates have truly started a great service for the elderly people. For example, they had weekly visits to have one-on-one talks with elderly people to answer each question, from phone calls to filling out online forms.

At the very start of this term, I chose just two simple but very useful actions: reading English aloud for ten minutes and memorizing five new words every morning.
But keeping them every day was quite hard. At first, I often forgot and felt lazy. To solve this, I set an alarm and made a checklist. After each task, I gave myself a small reward.
Now, after three months, I have already learned many new words and read much faster. I feel more confident in class. These small steps have brought big changes. I realize that daily habits really work.
