Unit 1 Laugh out loud! Healthcare clowns help patients laugh and recover An English adage says, "laughter is the best medicine". In these troubling times, good humour is in need more than ever. Doctors and medical staff are taking heed of this and incorporating it into their care treatments. One product of this is the emergence of clown doctors and healthcare clowns in hospitals around the globe. There is even an organisation that sets standards. The European Federation of Healthcare Clowns Organisations was established in 2011. It says: "Healthcare clowns bring moments of happiness and distraction to children who are ill or who have special needs.... Clowns also bring smiles to vulnerable adults, including seniors and people with dementia who are in hospital care." Healthcare clowns are becoming especially popular in Israel, which is considered a world leader in the field. The first university ever to offer a Bachelor's degree in medical clowning was Haifa University, in 2007. One healthcare clown in Jerusalem, Leah Weiss, decided to divert her inner clown to help patients after a COVID-19 ward opened in March. She said she knew the clown in her would have therapeutic benefits for her patients. She wants to reduce their anxiety and improve their wellbeing. She enjoys working alongside doctors and said: "Obviously, the doctors, they take care of the body. And we come in and take care of the soul. And it integrates together - the doctors understand this." 【词汇延伸】 take heed of 注意,留意 in need 需要帮助的 incorporate into 融入,并入 in the field 在某个领域里 around the globe 全球范围内 take care of 照顾,照料 have therapeutic benefits for 对…… Ways to Teach Kids Work Ethic Early Ever watched your child try to get out of doing housework by making excuses? If only the effort they put into avoiding responsibility could be redirected into, well, actual responsibility. In fact, building work ethic (道德) in kids doesn’t require military-style drills. Here are four simple and practical ways. ● Make housework part of the family routine. Involve your child in the daily running of the house: tidying toys, feeding the dog, watering the plants. ____36____ When the tasks become as routine as brushing teeth, kids internalise that helping with housework is simply part of life. ● ____37____ You can’t expect your child to tackle their tasks with enthusiasm while you’re complaining about loading the dishwasher. If your child sees you enjoying your work and taking pride in a job well done, they’re far more likely to do the same. ● Build determination through goals. ____38____ Sometimes you have to help them find their “thing.” Set small, achievable goals together with them and celebrate progress, not perfection. The trick is to let them struggle a bit — resist the urge to help fix things the moment they experience a setback. ● Treat mistakes as opportunities. Few things strike fear into a child’s heart like the prospect of failing. The best way is to normalise mistakes as a natural part of learning. When kids mess up, don’t jump in with a rescue mission. ____39____ Teaching kids work ethic is to gently and consistently push them toward responsibility, determination, and pride in their efforts. ____40____ No worry. Those habits you’re building now are setting your child up for a lifetime of resilience (韧性) and satisfaction. A. The key is consistency. B. Help kids develop analytical skills. C. Model the work ethic you want to see. D. Instead, encourage them to do differently next time. E. Sometimes, a cleaner living room is the best reward. F. Progress can be slow, and you’ll wonder if it’s all sinking in. G. Not every child is born with the willpower of a marathon runner. ( 1. For years she felt she’d simply lacked (缺乏) a focus, a drive. Approaching fifty, each year felt the same. She needed to shake things up. Then, one day. Claire had a sudden idea after learning about the feats (壮举) of others. “I mentioned to friends that I was looking for a challenge, and then came across Elise Downing, who ran the UK’s coast in ten months, and a guy called Christian Lewis, who did it over a number of years,” Claire says. “ It seemed like fate (命运)—— and it made sense. ” Claire decided then that she, too, would walk the UK’s coast. And she set off on her journey last summer. The journey did present a few challenges. For Claire, the struggles seemed small compared to what she got. “Having to find a place to sleep made me choose a cause to raise money for Shelter and Only A Pavement Away, two amazing homeless charities. When it was cold and wet, I could find shelter in free and warm libraries or railway waiting rooms, providing a safe space for a single woman. I’d meet homeless people there and talk to them about their lives, and then buy them a cup of tea or something to eat.” Finally, on Sunday, July 28— after over 4,000 miles, 50 weeks, and the UK’s three highest places — she was back at John O'Groats where she’d started. Claire says she is now sure that she will do another big mission (任务) soon, but more hopes that her story can inspire others to step out of their comfort zone(舒适区). “Hopefully I’ve made the world a better place and inspired at least one other person to head out and take on a big challenge, to make them feel alive again.” Claire adds. 1. What can we infer about Claire in the first paragraph? A. She found her life was full of challenges. B. She wished to make a change in her life. C. She was tired of living with her family. D. Ask her friends and family for help. C. Raise money for homeless charities. D. Mark the hotels along the way on a map. 4. What does Claire hope to do by sharing her experience? A. Inspire people to get close to nature. B. Encourage people to challenge themselves. C. Show the importance of providing care to others. D. Raise awareness about the struggles of the homeless. Passage 2 (2025-2026学年高二上·湖南·期末)Spending time outdoors has long been linked (联系) to better health. Gardening goes beyond just beautifying outdoor spaces—it can have a deep effect on our physical and mental (身心上的) health. Gardening involves physical activity that works all the main muscle (肌肉) groups, which is helpful for overall health. “Activities such as digging, planting, weeding and harvesting require movement and can help to improve strength,” said Clayton, CEO of an online lawn care company. “Performing these activities regularly can help burn calories, and keep a healthy weight.” Beyond burning calories and building muscle, lots of studies have shown that gardening can improve the immune system The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that people get at least 150 minutes of exercise each week, and gardening is listed as a suitable activity. Doing garden work for that time each week can reduce the risk of obesity, high blood pressure and heart disease. Additionally, spending time outdoors makes us get close to natural sunlight, which is important for vitamin D synth. Gardening provides a chance for social connection, too. It can be a shared activity among family members, friends or neighbors, building relationships and a sense of belonging. Gardening also offers cognitive (认知的) benefits. It excites the senses, improves focus and encourages problem-solving and creativity. It provides a chance to learn about plants, ecosystems and the environment, developing a deeper understanding and appreciation for nature. 1. What is Clayton’s attitude towards gardening? A.Supportive. B.Doubtful. C.Unclear D.Uncaring. 2. What does paragraph 3 mainly tell us about gardening? A.It improves focus. B.It is a waste of time. C.It can keep a body in shape. D.It helps to reduce the risk of diseases. 3. How does gardening affect social connection according to the text? A.It contributes to creativity. B.It encourages problem-solving. C.It builds relationships between people. D.It improves people’s awareness of safety. 4. What is the best title for the text? A.How to Start a Garden B.Choose a Garden or Not C.What Plants Grow Best in a Garden D.Start Gardening and Get the Health Benefits Passage 3 (2025-2026学年高二下·湖北武汉·月考)The paddle (桨) cuts through the water as Paralympian athlete Curtis McGrath pushes his canoe (皮划艇) forward. With each strong move, a quick flash of green-and-yellow Aboriginal art can be seen on the paddle — the special design for Australia’s Paralympic team. For McGrath, this pattern, called “The Journey”, carries deep meaning. It matches his own story, as he found strength in sports after losing his legs. It seems symbolic of the idea that talking can support recovering. Many people find it difficult to talk about serious illness or injury. Serious injuries, like McGrath’s, come with a complex range of emotions including anger, denial, and depression. But sharing such emotions and talking about injuries can help people to manage them. “For me, to have a good support network around me helped me get through those tough times,” McGrath said during an interview in 2018. Understandably, many people with serious injuries find it easier to talk with others going through the same or a similar experience. This can bring a fuller level of understanding that helps people live with their injury on practical and emotional levels. “Six months after I got hurt, I got to see people who’d been injured doing things that I didn’t think were possible,” says McGrath. Inspired, he tried a few sports before finding his passion for paracanoe that he took to the Invictus Games in London, 2014. His achievements in sports have seen him win multiple gold medals at the Paralympic Games and World Championships. McGrath has become a champion for people with a disability, and a motivational speaker. And he’s not afraid to openly discuss his suffering. “It’s important to remember that the hard times never last forever,” advises McGrath, “There’s someone out there that’s going through something similar. It’s your responsibility to reach out to talk and to see what you could be.” 1. Why does the author mention “The Journey” on McGrath’s paddle? A. To present his personal recovery story. B. To express his honor as a disabled athlete. C. To explain the special design for the team. D. To highlight the importance of team spirit. 2. How can sharing emotions about serious injuries benefit people? A. It reduces their dependence on others. B. It saves them the cost of medical care. C. It increases their tolerance of injuries. D. It helps them get professional guidance. 3. What does McGrath advise disabled people to do? A. Contain emotions. B. Take responsibility. C. Develop hobbies. D. Seek connection. 4. Which of the following can best describe McGrath? A. Curious and devoted. B. Strict and influential. C. Strong and independent. D. Open-hearted and inspiring. Passage 4 (25-26高二下·湖南·入学考)When I signed up for a triathlon (铁人三项) years ago, I had one goal. It wasn’t to win the race or even to place in the top half. My goal was simple: not to finish in the last place. Second to last? OK. So long as I was not the last. I wanted to avoid the shame and mockery (嘲笑) of a participation trophy (奖). After all, my son, Zane, would join it. I didn’t want him to perceive his dad as a loser. I’m not much of an athlete. I find lung-burning aerobic exercise deeply unpleasant. But that summer my son came up with a intense proposal: Let's do a triathlon together! I felt I couldn’t say no. When we got to the base camp, I found these folks were well-prepared with sharply defined muscles. Don’t panic, I told myself, there must be a few even less prepared than I was. We lined up by the shore and dived into the bay. The icy water made me breathless. Zane pulled away with strong freestyle strokes. I used the breaststroke. Eventually I made it back to land. I ran to my bike and started pedaling along the hilly course. After 12 miles, there were several racers behind me. I wasn’t in last place. When I glanced back, I saw a woman maybe in her 70s. I can take her, I told myself. In the final mile, her sneaker-steps got louder and faster. I watched her pull away and disappear. There I was. Alone. I refused to walk although walking would probably have been faster than my foot dragging running. Worse, I was joined by a four-wheeled symbol of shame: the official ambulance behind me. Finally, I crossed the finish line, 121st out of 121 racers. Zane hugged and congratulated me. I was embarrassed. I thought of an impressive number of excuses. But on our way back, the embarrassment faded. My embarrassment was gradually replaced by pride. I had reframed my last-place finish as a victory. I’m not a loser. I’m a triathlete and a role model for my son! Persistence and resilience (韧性), that’s what I displayed. I was racing against myself instead of others. Plus, my son did great, placing somewhere in the middle. I love that. Also, there is something glorious about last place. I may not be a great athlete, but I am a champion at changing the narrative, which might be more useful than athletic ability. 1. Why did the author mention his goal at the beginning of the article? A. To explain his motivation of avoiding personal shame. B. To show his strong desire to win the competition. C. To criticize the concept of participation trophies. D. To emphasize the significance of winning. 2. How did the author feel when he arrived at the base camp? A. Excited and cautious. B. Nervous and unsure. C. Prepared and overconfident. D. Indifferent and uninterested. 3. Why did the author say that he “reframed my last-place finish as a victory” in para.6? A. To pretend to win despite actually losing. B. To emphasize his son’s good performance. C. To avoid embarrassment and mockery. D. To show his change and personal growth. 4. What is the main message conveyed through the author’s experience? A. The shame of finishing in last place. B. The importance of family’s encouragement. C. The value of perseverance and determination. D. The joy of participating in athletic events with family. Passage 5 (25-26高二上·江苏镇江·期末)When someone sets out to improve their health, they usually take a familiar path: starting a healthy diet, adopting a new workout plan, getting better sleep, or drinking more water. Each of these behaviors is important, of course, but they all focus on physical health — and a growing body of research suggests that social health is just as, if not more, important to overall well-being. A recent study found that the strength of a person’s social circle — as measured by cell phone activity — was a better predictor of self-reported stress, happiness and well-being levels than fitness tracker data on physical activity, heart rate and sleep. That finding suggests that the “quantified self” presented by endless amounts of health data doesn’t tell the whole story, says study co-author Nitesh Chawla. “There’s a qualified self, which is who I am, what my activities, my social network, my lifestyle, and my enjoyment are. All of these aspects are not reflected in any of these measurements,” Chawla says. “And they are strong determinants of my well-being.” A 2019 study set out to determine what’s driving those high rates of loneliness and found that social media, when used so much that it occupied face-to-face quality time, was tied to greater loneliness. Gender and income didn’t seem to have a strong effect, but loneliness tended to decrease with age, perhaps because of the wisdom and perspective afforded by years of life lived, says Dr. Stuart Lustig, one of the report’s authors. Lustig emphasizes that we should use technology “to seek out meaningful connections and people that you are able to keep in your social sphere (范围). It’s easy enough to find groups such as Meetups, which regularly organize offline gatherings, providing members with opportunities to interact, share, and participate in various activities in real life. Or through social media, you can find places to go where you’ll find folks doing what you want to do.” That advice is particularly important for young people, he says, for whom heavy social media use is common. Finally, Lustig stresses that even small social changes can have a large impact.Striking up post-meeting conversations with co-workers, or even engaging in micro-interactions with strangers, can make your social life feel more rewarding. 1. What is the author’s purpose in writing paragraph 1? A. To show social health is ignored by some people. B. To show social people like to do workouts with others. C. To prove many people tend to follow suit to improve their health. D. To prove more and more people have benefited from physical exercise. 2. What do we learn about fitness tracker data according to paragraph 2? A. They are out of date. B. They are more scientific. C. They can help realize the “qualified self”. D. They cannot reflect one’s overall health. 3. What did the 2019 study find? A. The overuse of social media could lead to loneliness. B. Old people felt lonelier than young people. C. Females feel happy more easily than males. D. Income had a great influence on people’s well-being. 4. What advice does Dr. Stuart Lustig give? A. Avoiding talking to strangers. B. Using social media as little as possible. C. Using technology for meaningful face-to-face interactions. D. Spending more time with like-minded young people. If you find yourself thinking, “I am a failure,” it’s important to know that there are things you can do to feel better. Knowing how to cope (应对) with failure in a healthy way takes some of the fear out of it. ___1___ First of all, it’s important to acknowledge that everybody fails at one time or another, but that doesn’t make us failures—it just means we are human, and that things didn’t work out this time. If you do feel like a failure, calling a friend, going for a walk, or playing with your pet are just a few examples of healthy ways to deal with your pain. ___2___ So you should try to find out what does for you. Failure can be a great teacher if you’re open to learning. Did you make a whole series of mistakes? Think about what you could do differently next time. ___3___ Instead of seeing a failure as a burden weighing you down, look at it as a stepping stone toward your goals. Once you’ve identified your mistakes and where you can learn from them, you’ll be ready to make a plan for moving forward. ___4___ Stop thinking, “I am a failure.” and focus on thinking. “I am capable of trying again.” Create a plan that will help you put the information you gained into practice. If you’ve spent most of your life avoiding failure, it can feel really scary when it finally happens. Facing your fears, however, can be the key to reducing the discomfort. ___5___ Do things that might get you rejected or try new things where you could fail. Over time, you’ll learn that failure isn’t as bad as you might imagine. A. Practice stepping outside your comfort zone. B. Not every coping skill works for everyone, though. C. These will provide you with some temporary relief. D. Then you can ensure your failure will become a life lesson. E. And it helps reduce the pain so you can bounce back better. F. Remember that focusing on your problems will keep you stuck. G. There are many reasons why you might be feeling like a failure. Facing hard things is, well, hard. Sometimes we are forced to simply shift, such as with a loss or failure; however, much of the time, we may recognize the difficulties underneath that need attention but feel too overwhelmed to address them. ____1____. Humans are masters of avoidance and denial. Some individuals fool themselves into thinking there really is not a problem. It’s like someone trying to hold active mice under a blanket by holding down the edges of the moving blanket. Pulling back the blanket to let the mice out is needed, despite being terrifying. Once the mice are released, there may be further challenges to get them out of the house. ____2____. Without this initial acknowledgment, we remain trapped in our own denial, unable to move forward. People often encounter similar problems. Avoiding or leaving the situation appears to fix the problem but fails to tackle the underlying cause. Rather than repeatedly cutting weeds, getting down on the ground and pulling the roots is more effective. Facing issues is like uncovering roots for new beginnings to blossom. ____3____ . Making changes in one’s life is hard and complicated. ____4____. Pulling hard at only one wire actually tightens the knot. We have to take a calmer look and pull apart each wire one at a time. We can’t expect the wires to loosen or unwind themselves. ____5____. Nevertheless, once they have been freed, they can sometimes be separated, put aside, and used as needed. A. It feels like a balled-up mess of wires. B. They are just there and part of the knotted chaos. C. The overall benefits from tough work enable growth. D. Sadly, it often worsens when we approach it with anger. E. However, problems cannot be faced if they are not first recognized. F. Quick fixes might provide relief in the short term but often not in the long term. G. These might include an outdated habit, a troubling memory or a long-ignored conflict. Passage 8 (24-25高一下·河北衡水·开学考)Life is a road full of minor inconveniences and major setbacks, which everyone faces regardless of wealth or social rank. That is why optimism, the ability to see the ____1____ side of every negative situation, is key to success. What made optimism (乐观) so meaningful to me was when I ____2____ the A team of the basketball club for the upcoming season. I had always been the starting point guard, and my ____3____ on the A team was something I took for granted. However, I only made the B team, ____4____ I worked my hardest. I didn’t understand why until I saw the new A team, crowded with players that all ____5____ me. I had to give the B team a chance. But to my ____6____, the play level was much lower than what I was used to. I lost the drive I’d had before and gradually became ____7____. One day I came across a social media post of another basketball team, whose point guard was much more ____8____ than her teammates. When her teammates made multiple mistakes ____9____ which cost them several points, I expected her to be upset, but ____10____, she patted her teammates on the back and comforted them. As I watched her more, I noticed that she led her team, always ____11____ and uplifting her teammates. The realization hit me like lightning. What I thought was a ____12____ turned out to be a valuable opportunity, presenting a rare chance to develop ____13____. So, I started using my ____14____ to be a leader for my team. My effort paid off as I ____15____ remarkably not just as a player, but as a person—something I could have never achieved on the A team. 1. A. ordinary B. creative C. difficult D. positive 2. A 37. C 38. G 39. D 40. 36.根据空前“Involve your child in the daily running of the house: tidying toys, feeding the dog, watering the plants.(让孩子参与家庭日常事务:整理玩具、喂狗、浇花。)”以及空后“When the tasks become as routine as brushing teeth, kids internalise that helping with housework is simply part of life.(当做家务变得像刷牙一样常规化,孩子就会从内心认同做家务是生活的一部分。)” A选项“The key is consistency.(关键在于持之以恒。)” 37.分析文章结构,该空为本段小标题,其余小标题均为简洁祈使句;根据本段后文“You can’t expect your child to tackle their tasks with enthusiasm while you’re complaining about loading the dishwasher. If your child sees you enjoying your work and taking pride in a job well done, they’re far more likely to do the same.(你不能指望孩子满怀热情地处理自己的任务,而你自己却在抱怨把洗碗机里的碗碟摆好。如果你的孩子看到你享受工作、并为自己出色完成的事情感到自豪,他们就更有可能也这样做。)”可知,整段核心是家长自身行为会被孩子模仿,家长要做好榜样。C选项“Model the work ethic you want to see.(树立你希望孩子拥有的劳动榜样。)” ;根据空后“Sometimes you have to help them find their “thing.” Set small, achievable goals together with them and celebrate progress, not perfection. The trick is to let them struggle a bit — resist the urge to help fix things the moment they experience a setback.(有时你需要帮孩子找到适合自己的事。和他们一起设定容易达成的小目标,看重进步而非完美。诀窍是让他们适当经历磨砺,不要一遇到挫折就立刻帮忙解决问题。)”可知,后文提出需要借助外力、设定小目标来锻炼意志力,反向说明孩子天生意志力参差不齐,不是所有人天生意志力都很强。G选项“Not every child is born with the willpower of a marathon runner.(并非每个孩子生来都拥有马拉松运动员那般强大的意志力。)” 39.根据空前“When kids mess up, don’t jump in with a rescue mission.(孩子搞砸事情时,不要立刻出手包揽补救。)” D选项“Instead, encourage them to do differently next time.(取而代之,鼓励他们下次换一种方式处理。)” Those habits you’re building now are setting your child up for a lifetime of resilience (韧性) and satisfaction.(不必担心。你当下正在培养的这些习惯,会让孩子终身拥有抗挫折能力与成就感。)”可知,No worry是安慰语气,说明空格处必然是家长会产生的顾虑。F选项“Progress can be slow, and you’ll wonder if it’s all sinking in.(进步速度可能很慢,你会疑惑孩子究竟有没有真正听进去、学进去。)” ( 1. 1. A 2. C 3. D 4. 根据第一段内容“For McGrath, this pattern, called ‘The Journey’, carries deep meaning. It matches his own story, as he found strength in sports after losing his legs.(对McGrath来说,这个名为‘旅程’的图案有着深刻的意义。它与他自己的经历相契合,他在失去双腿后从运动中找到了力量。)”可知,作者提到McGrath桨上的“The Journey”是为了呈现他个人的康复故事。故选A。 2. 根据第二段内容“But sharing such emotions and talking about injuries can help people to manage them.(但分享这些情绪、谈论伤病可以帮助人们应对它们。)”以及第三段内容“This can bring a fuller level of understanding that helps people live with their injury on practical and emotional levels.(这能带来更全面的理解,帮助人们在现实和情感层面接受伤病。)” 根据最后一段内容“There’s someone out there that’s going through something similar. It’s your responsibility to reach out to talk and to see what you could be.(总有人正在经历相似的事情。主动去交流,看看自己能成为什么样的人,这是你的责任。)”可知,McGrath建议残疾人主动寻求沟通与联结。故选D。 4.推理判断题。通读全文,根据最后一段“McGrath has become a champion for people with a disability, and a motivational speaker. And he’s not afraid to openly discuss his suffering.(McGrath已经成为残疾人的拥护者和励志演说家。他不怕公开谈论自己的痛苦。)”可知,McGrath勇敢面对残疾、坚持运动并获得成功,同时他乐于公开谈论自己的痛苦,用自身经历激励他人。由此可知,他心胸开阔、鼓舞人心。故选D。 Passage 4 (25-26高二下·湖南·入学考)When I signed up for a triathlon (铁人三项) years ago, I had one goal. A 2. B 3. D 4. 根据第一段“My goal was simple: not to finish in the last place.(我的目标很简单:不要排在最后一名)”和第二段“Second to last? OK. So long as I was not the last. I wanted to avoid the shame and mockery (嘲笑) of a participation trophy (奖). After all, my son, Zane, would join it. I didn’t want him to perceive his dad as a loser.(倒数第二名呢?好的。只要我不是最后一个参赛者,我就想避免获得那种所谓的“参与奖”的耻辱和嘲笑。毕竟,我的儿子Zane也会和我一起参赛。我不想让他觉得自己的爸爸是个失败者)”可知,作者开头提及目标是为了解释自己不想丢脸的参赛动机。故选A项。 2. 根据第三段“When we got to the base camp, I found these folks were well-prepared with sharply defined muscles. Don’t panic, I told myself, there must be a few even less prepared than I was.(当我们到达营地时,我发现这些人训练有素,肌肉线条分明。别慌,我对自己说,肯定还有人比我准备得更差)”可知,作者看到其他参赛者状态良好时自我安慰,体现出他紧张又不确定的心情。故选B项。 3.推理判断题。根据第六段“But on our way back, the embarrassment faded. My embarrassment was gradually replaced by pride. I had reframed my last-place finish as a victory.(但在我们返回的路上,这种尴尬感渐渐消失了。我的尴尬感逐渐被自豪感所取代。我把最后一名的成绩重新定义为胜利)”和最后一段“I’m not a loser. I’m a triathlete and a role model for my son! Persistence and resilience (韧性), that’s what I displayed. I was racing against myself instead of others.(我不是失败者。我是铁人三项运动员,也是我儿子的榜样!我展现出了坚持不懈和坚韧不拔的精神。我是在和自己赛跑,而不是和其他人比赛)”可知,作者将最后一名的结果重新定义为胜利,是为了体现自己的转变和个人成长。故选D项。 4.主旨大意题。根据全文内容,尤其是最后一段“Persistence and resilience (韧性), that’s what I displayed. I was racing against myself instead of others. Plus, my son did great, placing somewhere in the middle. I love that. Also, there is something glorious about last place. I may not be a great athlete, but I am a champion at changing the narrative, which might be more useful than athletic ability.(我展现出了坚持不懈和坚韧不拔的精神。我是在和自己赛跑,而不是和其他人比赛。而且,我的儿子表现得也很出色,处于中等位置。我很喜欢这一点。此外,最后一名的成绩也有其光荣之处。我也许不是一位出色的运动员,但我是在改变叙事方面的大赢家,这可能比运动能力更有价值)”可知,作者虽然拿了最后一名,但他展示了坚持和韧性,这种精神比运动能力更有价值,因此核心主旨是坚持和决心的意义。故选C项。 Passage 5 (25-26高二上·江苏镇江·期末)When someone sets out to improve their health, they usually take a familiar path: starting a healthy diet, adopting a new workout plan, getting better sleep, or drinking more water. A 2. D 3. A 4. 根据第一段“When someone sets out to improve their health, they usually take a familiar path: starting a healthy diet, adopting a new workout plan, getting better sleep, or drinking more water. It’s easy enough to find groups such as Meetups, which regularly organize offline gatherings, providing members with opportunities to interact, share, and participate in various activities in real life. Or through social media, you can find places to go where you’ll find folks doing what you want to do.” If you find yourself thinking, “I am a failure,” it’s important to know that there are things you can do to feel better. 1. E 2. B 3. D 4. F 5.
