The idea began when Martin Jenkins, who works at Mooch Coffee, attended his son’s sports day at the school. He bought some cakes from a stall (摊位) run by the students. He loved them so much that he asked if they could sell their cakes to his coffee shop.
Now, every Thursday, the students bake all kinds of cakes and bread after school. They work in the school kitchen and follow strict rules to keep everything clean and safe. On Friday morning, the coffee shop picks up the food.
Chloe, 14, said, “Baking for Mooch Coffee is my favorite part of the week. I enjoy the experience of working in the school kitchen!”
Precious, 15, said, “I love visiting the coffee shop at weekends and seeing our cakes being sold to the local community.”
Asi, 14, said, “I would love to own a bakery when I am older, so this is the perfect experience.”
Mr. Dunkley from the coffee shop said, “It is just amazing. We treat the students like any other supplier (供应商). I’m proud of the partnership (合作). Many of us love using fridge magnets (冰箱贴) to hold notes or decorate our fridges. Have you noticed a light mark after removing a fridge magnet that has stayed in one place for a long time? It happens for several reasons.
First, dust (灰尘) easily collects around magnets. This creates a light line on the fridge. Luckily, cleaning the line with a wet cloth (布) can usually make it disappear. Second, sunlight and air can change the fridge’s color over time. The paint under the magnet stays new, but the paint around it becomes lighter. Third, water in the air can be a problem. In places like kitchens, water can go between the magnet and the fridge. If there is a small scratch (划痕) on the magnet or the fridge, it might get rusty (生锈的). Rust can leave an ugly brown mark. Fourth, moving magnets the wrong way can scratch the fridge. If you move a magnet by pushing it across the surface, tiny pieces of dust under it can scratch the paint.
So, how can we keep our fridge looking good? It helps to move the magnets often. This helps keep the color the same everywhere and stops rust. Always remember to ▲ , and don’t push them across the surface. Finally, clean your fridge and magnets with a soft cloth often. This removes dust and keeps your fridge looking clean.
If you remember these easy tips, you can keep using your magnets while still having a clean, nice-looking fridge.
根据材料内容选择最佳答案。
11. How does the writer introduce the topic?
A. By giving a tip. B. By telling a story.
C. By asking a question. D. By sharing a study result.
12. What causes a light line on the fridge?
A. Air. B. Dust. C. Rust. D. Sunlight.
13. What can we learn about rust under a magnet?
A. It only happens to old fridges. B. It’s easy to clean with a wet cloth.
C. It needs water and a scratch to happen. D. It’s the most common reason for marks.
14. The best part for “ ▲ ” is “_________”.
A. push magnets slowly B. clean your fridge first
C. pull the magnets straight off D. cover your fridge with a soft cloth
15. How is the text developed?
A. Examples—Differences—Solution B. Problem—Causes—Suggestions
C. Examples—Question—Answer D. Problem—Research—Results
【答案】11. C 12. B 13. C 14. C 15. B
【解析】
【导语】本文是一篇说明文,主要解释了冰箱贴长时间贴在冰箱上会留下痕迹的四个原因(灰尘、光照变色、湿气生锈、错误移动划伤),并给出了相应的预防建议。
【11题详解】
由第一段“Have you noticed a light mark after removing a fridge magnet that has stayed in one place for a long time?”可知,作者通过提问的方式引入话题。
【12题详解】
由第二段“dust easily collects around magnets. This creates a light line on the fridge”可知,灰尘会导致冰箱上的浅色痕迹。
【13题详解】
由第二段“water can go between the magnet and the fridge. If there is a small scratch on the magnet or the fridge, it might get rusty”可知,生锈需要水和划痕两个条件同时存在。

Today, many people are spending more time on screens and reading less. This makes it harder for people to focus and think carefully.
I believe reading is still very important. Books not only help us focus and think deeply, but also let us use our imagination. They provide rich knowledge and meaningful ideas instead of just simple fun from videos or online games.
To achieve a balance, we can set a daily “reading hour” and keep all screens away during that time. In this way, we can enjoy both the convenience of screens and the benefits of reading.

12. What causes a light line on the fridge?
A. Air. B. Dust. C. Rust. D. Sunlight.
13. What can we learn about rust under a magnet?
A. It only happens to old fridges. B. It’s easy to clean with a wet cloth.
C. It needs water and a scratch to happen. D. It’s the most common reason for marks.
14. The best part for “ ▲ ” is “_________”.
A. push magnets slowly B. clean your fridge first
C. pull the magnets straight off D. cover your fridge with a soft cloth
15. How is the text developed?
A. Examples—Differences—Solution B. Problem—Causes—Suggestions
C. Examples—Question—Answer D. Problem—Research—Results
