八、阅读理解
A Dog Called Money is an interesting story about a girl named Kira and her dog Money. Money can talk and gives Kira advice on how to manage her pocket money.
One of the best ways to get money, according to Money, is with a dream tin. You simply take a spare tin and turn it into a piggy bank. Then write your dream on the tin. You will need one tin for each of your dreams. When the tin is ready, put all the money that you have into it.
At first, Kira wants to double her pocket money. She thinks that would be amazing. But Money tells her that ten times more money means ten times more problems. Because the more we get, the more we spend. This does not make any sense to Kira at first.
Money then asks Kira to look at her parents. They have over 100 times her pocket money. But still they cannot manage. It is not the number that matters; it is what you do with it. First, we need to learn how to deal with the money we already have. Then we will be able to have more.
Kira takes another look at her list. Her first wish is to go on a trip abroad. The second is to buy a laptop. The third is to help her parents budget their money. She could make dream tins for the first two and start saving. However, the third one seems a bit difficult to do by herself.
Money read her thoughts. "So, you will only need two dream tins. Think you can manage that?" Kira promised, "Okay, I will give it a try... No, I mean, I will do it."
( ) 1. What is a dream tin according to Money?
A. A tin for saving food.
B. A piggy bank for saving money for dreams.
C. A tin for keeping toys.

A. Because Kira does not like Money.
B. Because Kira thinks more money is always better.
C. Because Kira has no pocket money.
D. Because Kira does not want to save money.
( ) 3. What does Money mean by It is not the number that matters?
A. The amount of money is not important.
B. We should not count our money.
C. Numbers are difficult to understand.
D. We should have a lot of money.

九、书面表达参考范文
Dear Tom,
I am sorry to hear that you always run out of your pocket money before the month ends. Do not worry. I have some advice for you.
First, you can try using a dream tin. When you have a dream, write it on a tin and put your money into it. This will help you save money for things you really want.
Second, learn to tell the difference between "want" and "need". When you want to buy something, think twice. Do you really need it? If not, save the money.
Third, start saving now. When you begin to enjoy saving, you will understand its true value. I believe you can manage your money well.
Best wishes!
Yours,
Li Hua
