指代前文的“this habit”,应用it。

(Patricia and her brothers Stewart, Winston wanted to buy a hat for their grandma. When they arrived at Mr Kodinski’s shop, some boys threw eggs at its back door: Mr Kodinski thought Patricia and her brothers did it and became very angry.)
In my kitchen, the next day, we thought and thought.
“How can we win him over when he thinks that we threw those eggs?” Stewart asked.
“He doesn’t even like us,” Winston shouted.
“Eggs.” I said quietly.
“Eggs?” Stewart asked.
“Eggs!” I called out.
I went to the kitchen and took out something useful. Mom helped me show the boys how to decorate (装饰) eggs the way my grandma had taught us. The way they did it in the old country. We prepared some hot wax, then painted the eggs and finally melted the wax off.
We put the eggs in a basket. Although we were afraid, we walked into Mr Kodinski’s shop and put them on the table.
He raised his eyes and looked angrily at us. Then he noticed the basket. “Spasibo,” he said softly. That means “thank you” in Russian. “Pysanky eggs!” He said as he looked carefully. “I haven’t seen these since I left my hometown.”
“We didn’t throw those eggs at your door, Mr Kodinski,” we told him.
He looked at us for a minute. “Well, then, you are brave enough to be here!” Then his eyes shone and his face wore a warm smile. “Children, come and have some hot tea with me.”
24. What gift did the children prepare for Mr Kodinski?
A. Broken eggs. B. Decorated eggs. C. An old basket. D. Some hot tea.
25. What is the right order to make the gift?
a. paint the eggs
b. prepare some hot wax
c. melt the wax off
A. a-b-c B. b-c-a C. b-a-c D. c-b-a
26. How did Mr Kodinski feel after seeing the gift?
A. Angry. B. Afraid. C. Brave. D. Glad.
27. What can we infer (推断) from the passage?
A. Patricia seems to know Mr Kodinski very well.
B. No one likes the old way of decorating eggs.
C. The two brothers didn’t throw eggs at the shop.
D. The children often have tea with Mr Kodinski.
B 25. C 26. D 27. C
根据文中“Mom helped me show the boys how to decorate eggs”以及Mr.
根据文中“We prepared some hot wax, then painted the eggs and finally melted the wax off.”
Kodinski看到礼物后的反应:“eyes shone and his face wore a warm smile”(眼睛发亮,脸上带着温暖的微笑)并邀请孩子们喝茶,可以看出他感到很高兴(Glad)。
文章开头提到“some boys threw eggs”,Mr. Kodinski误以为是Patricia和她的兄弟们做的,但孩子们后来解释“We didn’t throw those eggs”,且Mr.
C
Why do different seasons come one after another on the earth? It’s mainly because our planet moves around the sun—the light from the Sun falls on it from different directions. More sunlight means longer days and warmer weather, while less sunlight means shorter days and colder weather.
The seasons fall at different times of year around the world. For example, China lies north of the equator (赤道), so we experience spring from March to May. However, on the other side of the equator, it’s autumn in Australia during these months. For places close to the equator, there are only hot summers.
As Chinese people, we not only know about the four seasons but also use the four main solar terms (节气) to guide our daily life, especially farming. They are the Spring Equinox, Summer Solstice, Autumn Equinox and Winter Solstice.
On equinox days, day and night are almost equal in length, cutting spring or autumn into two parts—they last about 12 hours each. The weather around Spring Equinox is usually warm and sunny, and it sometimes rains. Farmers start planting at this time of year. Temperatures get cooler after Autumn Equinox. Farmers are happy because it’s the harvest (丰收) time for their hard work. During solstices, they mark the longest or shortest daytime in a year. The weather is usually very cold on Winter Solstice, so there isn’t much farming. But it’s also a happy time for all Chinese people—people in northern China eat dumplings, while people in southern China eat mutton.
28. Why do seasons change on our planet?
A. Because the earth turns itself all around the year.
B. Because sunlight always comes from the same direction.
C. Because the Earth moves around the Sun, the light from the Sun falls on it from different directions.
D. Because days become longer when the weather gets cold.
29. Which number shows the season in Australia from March to May?
A. ① B. ② C. ③ D. ④
30. Which sentence uses “equal” with the same meaning as the underlined word in Paragraph 4?
equal /’i:kwəl/ adj.
A. The boy is not equal to this heavy work.
B. Men and women are equal in every way.
C. The two teams are equal in the ball game.
D. The teacher gives equal grades to two girls.
31. What is the main idea of the passage?
A. It introduces four seasons and main solar terms.
B. It shows weather differences all over the world.
C. It explains how solar terms help farmers with farming.
D. It tells different eating habits in northern and southern China.
C 29. C 30. D 31. A
第一段指出:“It’s mainly because our planet moves around the sun—the light from the Sun falls on it from different directions”,直接说明四季更替是因为地球绕太阳转动,太阳光照射方向不同。
第二段指出:“China lies north of the equator, so we experience spring from March to May. However, on the other side of the equator, it’s autumn in Australia during these months”,说明澳大利亚在赤道南侧,3—5月是秋季,③对应秋分,属于秋季。
第四段指出:“On equinox days, day and night are almost equal in length”,结合题干提供的equal的含义可知,此处equal表示“相同的”。选项D“The teacher gives equal grades to two girls.”
D
①Imagine you’re walking along the street with your friends. You trip and fall, but don’t get hurt. How do you react (反应)? Does your face turn red? Do you laugh at yourself? A new study shows your reaction may affect what other people think of you. And if you want to seem warm and real, laughing is the best thing to do!
②Scientists from the UK and the US did six different experiments (实验) to find out how people’s reactions to small mistakes changed others’ thoughts of them. They called these mistakes “faux pas”—awkward (尴尬的) moments like falling or forgetting someone’s name: They aren’t serious and don’t hurt anyone.
③More than 3,200 people took part in the experiments. They read different situations and saw photos of people reacting to their mistakes. Scientists asked about their feelings about the people’s reactions. The results showed that people who laughed at their mistakes seemed to be more positive (乐观的).
④“Laughing at yourself shows self-acceptance (自我接受), and we love people who accept themselves,” said one of the scientists. He found that people who can’t accept their mistakes seemed more worried about themselves. “It’s almost like you overly focus on what others think of you,” he said.
⑤However, one of the experiments looked at a situation where a mistake became something bigger, and someone else got hurt because of it. That is to say, if your mistake hurts someone else, laughing is not a good way to react. It makes a person seem uncaring and hard to like.
32. What does the underlined word “They” in Paragraph 2 refer to?
A. Small mistakes. B. The experiments.
C. People’s reactions. D. Someone’s name.
33. Which of the following can be put into No.2?
A. Advice B. Introduction C. Questions D. Summary
34. Which of the following can be put into No.3?
A. list reasons for the same situation
B. show more examples of “faux pas”
C. share feelings to different reactions
D. suggest new ideas about self-acceptance
35. Which of the following situations is NOT a “faux pas”?
A. Yaming trips and falls when walking with his friend Peter, but doesn’t get hurt.
B. Anne meets her new classmate in the museum, but she can’t remember his name.
C. Jane is having an English class in the classroom. Suddenly, she calls Ms Gao “Mom”.
D. Sam is getting his drink in a coffee shop. Unluckily, he pours the whole cup on a tourist.
A 33. B 34. C 35. D
根据第二段划线词所在句“They aren’t serious and don’t hurt anyone.”(它们不严重,也不会伤害任何人)可知,这里的“They”指代的是前文提到的“these mistakes”或“awkward moments”,即无伤大雅的小错误(Small mistakes)。
(Scientists asked about their feelings about the people’s reactions),选项C“share feelings to different reactions(分享对不同反应的感受)”准确概括了该段的实验过程与核心内容。
(They aren’t serious and don’t hurt anyone)。

故用C项“It was amazing.”
故用D项“What animals did you see?”
A项“Lucky you!”
F项“Did you see anything interesting?”
G项“You should go there sometime.”

A lot of people play sports, but very few people become sports professionals If sports aren’t going to be your future, then why should you play them? Why should you practise every day? Wouldn’t it be better to only focus on your lessons? Well, here are the reasons to play sports.

Many studies say if a young person plays sports, he or she may have fewer problems. This is because sports teach them about rules and their hard work may bring them success.
Another benefit (益处) of sports is that they make people leave their houses. These days, a lot of people spend too much time watching short videos and playing games online. When you play sports, you go outside and exercise in the sun. You take in clean and fresh air. All of these things are important.

When exams are coming, all you can think about for days is studying, preparing, and trying to get the best grades. Even after the exams, some new worries (焦虑) seem to come into your mind. You may ask yourself, “Did I write that correctly? Why did I even waste time on that question?”
But do you know these exams that worry you a lot also do more than just test (测试) yourself? Let’s look on the bright side of them and find out what you can learn.
The first life lesson is how to make good use of time. Before exams, you carefully plan hours for each subject and sometimes even give up fun activities to study. This helps you learn not only how to use time wisely but also how to keep your timetable.
Resilience is also a gift exams give you. There are moments you want to give up when you prepare for your exams, but you push through and keep trying. That’s resilience. You are strong enough to work out problems instead of giving up, even when things are quite difficult.
Finally, exams help you know yourself better. You have to stay calm when surprises happen—like hard questions or bad grades you didn’t hope for. Exams build self-awareness—how you study and what encourages you. The awareness is the first step to growing up.
So next time exams get you down, remember: you can improve yourself by learning from them. If you want to get better results, you should plan your time well before exams. Stay calm and positive in the process. After exams, learn from your mistakes and move on:
You may feel worried about exams. However, they can __________61__________. First, you can learn __________62__________. Besides, exams build your resilience. That means although there are difficulties, ___________63___________. What’s more, exams, let you have a better understanding of yourself.

A lot of people play sports, but very few people become sports professionals If sports aren’t going to be your future, then why should you play them? Why should you practise every day? Wouldn’t it be better to only focus on your lessons? Well, here are the reasons to play sports.
First of all, sports are a great way to exercise. Exercising always keeps you healthy and strong. When you exercise, your body makes endorphin (内啡肽). It gives you more energy and makes you feel happier.
Also, sports teach young people how to work as a team. They teach them to respect their coaches (教练), teammates and players from the other team.
Maybe you’re not going to become a sports professional, but that doesn’t matter. Sports will help you become a better and happier person.

In the end, the writer gives you _________64_________ to help you get better grades.
