A friend’s firm recommendation inspired me to book my first session. I chose Ora, a clinic I had visited during its grand opening in 2020, drawn to its environment and knowledgeable staff. Though the cost — $ 130 for an initial 65-minute session — was high, I viewed it as an investment in my well-being. Before the appointment, I researched how to prepare: eating a meal to stabilize blood sugar and avoiding medicine to ensure relaxation. Upon arriving at Ora, I was struck by the calming atmosphere. After a brief consultation with my acupuncturist, Sian James, who evaluated my lifestyle and health concerns, I changed into a towel and lay down. James checked my tongue, noting its red tip as a sign of stress, and explained how it guided her needle placement. She inserted 10-13 thin needles into my forehead, wrists, chest, knees, and feet. The slight pain was tolerable, and she explained that the selected points were targeted to stimulate my nervous system and release biochemicals to address stress. Once the needles were in place, I rested for 20-25 minutes in a dimly lit room with calming music. Initially tense, I eventually relaxed, drifting into a quiet state—deeply calm yet aware of my surroundings. When James removed the needles, I felt a profound sense of quiet that lasted the entire day. She advised avoiding tiring activities to maintain the effects. While the calmness faded by Monday morning, the experience was impactful. Acupuncture forced me to pause, breathe, and disconnect from life’s pressures. Though not a cure-all, acupuncture is a valuable tool for managing stress. As a person who struggled to unwind, I found it incredibly effective, and now, I plan to incorporate it into my routine. It’s a reminder to prioritize self-care. Otherwise, I couldn’t handle my busy work and daily life. 24. Why did the author decide to explore acupuncture? A. Because of a sports injury. B. Because of emotional anxiety. C. Because of financial investment. D. Because of a firm’s recommendation. 25. What can be inferred about the acupuncturist’s treatment approach? A. It relied on surroundings over needles. B. It used finger pressure instead of needles. C. It combined examination with assessment. D. It prioritized observation over communication. 26. How did the author feel after having acupuncture? A. Tired. B. Pressured. C. Cautious. D. Peaceful. 27. What does the author learn from her experience? A. Rome wasn’t built in a day. B. Busy hands make a happy heart. C. You can’t pour from an empty cup. D. A calm sea does not make a skilled sailor. B 25. C 26. D 27. 根据第一段中的“At 27, as a new mother, I had been wrestling with stress and worry, which led me to explore acupuncture.(27岁时,作为一名新手妈妈,我一直饱受压力和焦虑的困扰,这促使我尝试针灸疗法)”可知,作者选择尝试针灸是因为情绪焦虑、身心压力大。 根据第二段中的“After a brief consultation with my acupuncturist, Sian James, who evaluated my lifestyle and health concerns, I changed into a towel and lay down. James checked my tongue, noting its red tip as a sign of stress, and explained how it guided her needle placement.(我和针灸师简短沟通后,她评估了我的生活习惯和健康问题。随后查看我的舌苔,舌尖发红判定为压力大,以此为依据安排针灸点位)”可知,针灸师结合问诊评估和身体检查,综合制定治疗方案。 【26题详解】 细节理解题。根据第四段中的“When James removed the needles, I felt a profound sense of quiet that lasted the entire day.(当针灸师取下银针后,我内心感到无比平静,这种舒适的状态持续了一整天)”可知,做完针灸后,作者内心十分平静、放松。 根据最后一段中的“It’s a reminder to prioritize self-care. Otherwise, I couldn’t handle my busy work and daily life.(这次经历提醒我要重视自我休养,不然无法兼顾繁忙工作与日常生活)”可知,作者明白要先照顾好自己,才有精力应对生活,对应谚语“人需自爱,方能爱人处事”。 C The world’s top climate scientists of the IPCC have just released a landmark report, warning about the future of the planet. The headline—burning fossil fuels is already heating up the planet faster than anything the world has seen in 2,000 years. The IPCC is a U. N. body of 195 member states that assesses the science related to the climate crisis on behalf of governments every few years. This is the group that defines the scientific consensus. Hundreds of scientists work on a series of reports, which take years to produce. Governments have to sign off on them. And this one is just the latest big reassessment of the climate that the IPCC has done, but it’s the first one that is done in eight years. It also has the clearest, most confident conclusions that have ever been seen in an IPCC report. According to the report, the greenhouse gases that we have already put into the air have warmed up the planet so far by almost 2 °F compared to the pre-industrial times. This warming trend appears to be accelerating as the greenhouse gases accumulate in the atmosphere. And if we keep burning fossil fuels, by 2100—so within the lifetime of a child that’s born today—the planet could be 5 to 7°F hotter. And one new thing in this report is that it tries to put numbers on what that means. So, for instance, they say heat waves so extreme used to only happen once every 50 years. Now they’re happening almost five times more often. Extreme droughts could double or four times in frequency. In some cases, extreme storms could become three times more frequent and drop 30% more rainfall in a day. The scientists say preventing the worst effects will demand a U-turn away from use of fossil fuels. And it depends on us collectively. If every country, every business shifts away from burning gas, coal and oil over the next 30 years or so, we could probably limit this warming trend to a total of less than 3.5°F. 28. What’s the author’s probable purpose of introducing the IPCC in Paragraph 2? A. To make its work better known. B. To respect the scientists’ commitment. C. To make the report more convincing. D. To appreciate its great achievements. 29. What do you think of the current warming according to the report? A. It results from extreme weather. B. It is running out of fossil fuels. C. It is badly speeding up. D. There is no way to slow it down. 30. How do the scientists support their conclusion in the report? A. By defining scientific consensus. B. By using statistics and inference. C. By quoting authority figures. D. By modeling climate change. 31. What do the scientists expect people to do? A. Make joint efforts to stop the use of fossil fuels. B. Take positive attitudes to our planet`s future. C. Follow the global warming trend collectively. D. Develop new approaches to using fossil fuels. C 29. C 30. B 31. 根据第二段“The IPCC is a U. N. body of 195 member states that assesses the science related to the climate crisis on behalf of governments every few years. 根据第三段第二句“This warming trend appears to be accelerating as the greenhouse gases accumulate in the atmosphere. (随着温室气体在大气中积聚,这种变暖趋势似乎正在加速。)”可知,目前的气候变暖趋势因为温室气体而正在加速。故选C项。 【30题详解】 推理判断题。根据第四段“And one new thing in this report is that it tries to put numbers on what that means. So, for instance, they say heat waves so extreme used to only happen once every 50 years. Now they’re happening almost five times more often. Extreme droughts could double or four times in frequency. In some cases, extreme storms could become three times more frequent and drop 30% more rainfall in a day. 最后一段“The scientists say preventing the worst effects will demand a U-turn away from use of fossil fuels. And it depends on us collectively. (科学家们表示,为了防止最坏的影响,需要彻底放弃使用化石燃料。这取决于我们所有人。)”可知,科学家们希望人们共同努力,彻底放弃使用化石燃料。故选A项。 D About 50 residents of a community outside Chile's capital spent Saturday trying their best to power an entirely human-operated artificial intelligence (AI) website that could answer questions and make silly pictures on command, in a message to highlight the environmental toll of AI data centers in the region. The organizers say the 12-hour project fielded more than 25,000 requests from around the world. Asking the AI website to generate an image of a sloth (树懒)playing in the snow didn't instantly produce an output, as other AI websites would. Instead, someone responded in Spanish to wait a few moments and reminded the user that a human was responding. Then came a drawing about 10 minutes later: a penciled sketch of a cute sloth in a pile of snowballs, with its claws catching one and about to throw it. “The goal is to highlight the hidden water footprint behind AI prompting (提示) and encourage more responsible use,” said a statement from organizer Lorena Antiman of the environmental group Corporación NGEN. The answers came from the volunteers working on laptops in a community center in Quilicura, a district at the urban edge of Santiago that has become a data center hub. The website responded quickly to questions that drew on residents' cultural knowledge, like how to make Chilean sopaipillas, a fried pastry. When they didn't know the answer, they walked around the room to see if someone else did. “The AI website isn't about always having an instant answer. It's about recognizing that not every question needs one,” Antiman said. When residents don't know something, they can say so, share perspectives, or respond with curiosity rather than certainty. She said it was not designed to reject the valuable uses of AI but to think more about the impacts of so much “casual prompting” on water-stressed places like Quilicura. The backdrop behind the campaign is a debate, in Chile and elsewhere, about the heavy costs of AI usage. Data center computer chips running AI systems require huge amounts of electricity and some also use large volumes of water for cooling, with usage varying depending on locations and types of equipment. 32. Which can explain the underlined word “toll” in paragraph 1? A. Bad effect. B. Great value. C. Complex condition. D. Rapid development. 33. What is the aim of the campaign? A. To draw pictures for fun. B. To develop a new chatbot. C. To offer help to the locals. D. To call for the green use of AI. 34. What does Antiman think is the important part of the campaign? A. Drawing pictures for users. B. Thinking about AI's impacts. C. Rejecting AI's valuable uses. D. Answering questions instantly. 35. What may be the best title for the text? A. The Development of AI in Chile B. A New Application of AI in Chile C. An AI Website Powered by Humans D. The Contribution of Volunteers to AI 【答案】32. A 33. D 34. B 35. 根据第一段中“in a message to highlight the environmental toll of AI data centers in the region (旨在揭示该地区AI数据中心的环境toll)”以及最后一段中“The backdrop behind the campaign is a debate, in Chile and elsewhere, about the heavy costs of AI usage. Data center computer chips running AI systems require huge amounts of electricity and some also use large volumes of water for cooling, with usage varying depending on locations and types of equipment. (这场运动背后的背景是智利及其他地区围绕人工智能应用高昂成本所引发的争论。运行人工智能系统的数据中心计算机芯片需要消耗大量电力,部分芯片还需使用大量水进行冷却,具体耗电量因地理位置和设备类型而异。)”可知,toll指的是AI数据中心带来的负面环境影响。 【33题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段中“The goal is to highlight the hidden water footprint behind AI prompting and encourage more responsible use (目标是揭示AI提示词背后隐藏的水足迹,并鼓励更负责任的使用)”可知,活动旨在呼吁人们以更环保的方式使用AI。 根据第五段中“It's about recognizing that not every question needs one,” Antiman said. When residents don't know something, they can say so, share perspectives, or respond with curiosity rather than certainty. She said it was not designed to reject the valuable uses of AI but to think more about the impacts of so much “casual prompting” on water-stressed places like Quilicura. 根据第一段“About 50 residents of a community outside Chile's capital spent Saturday trying their best to power an entirely human-operated artificial intelligence (AI) website that could answer questions and make silly pictures on command, in a message to highlight the environmental toll of AI data centers in the region.(智利首都郊外某社区约 50 名居民,在周六合力运转一个完全依靠人力驱动的人工智能网站。 C项“An AI Website Powered by Humans”最能概括全文主旨,适合作标题。 To keep gratitude in my daily life, I started playing a game called “three things”. ____36____ For example, a project finished early, a sunny day for running and my Dad cooking his famously mouthwatering hamburgers that night. You’re supposed to be the happy one, remember?” His words immediately pulled me back into a better frame of mind. With that reminder, I knew I was going to jog alone. I would appreciate the fresh air, the cold, clear sky, and my ability to take each step through the neighborhood. ____40____. And so I went jogging. And for that moment, I was exactly where I needed to be. A. I used to ignore the current moment. B. There are three things that interest me a lot. C. Instead, I’m busy taking action or having fun. D. Last Friday, our school held the Upcycling Creativity Competition to carry forward the traditional virtue of diligence and thrift. I gladly took part in it. I reused an empty glass bottle and some leftover cloth to make a delicate flower vase. After careful cutting and decoration, the plain waste turned into a lovely artwork, which drew lots of attention. This experience made me deeply understand the meaning of diligence and thrift. Many so-called wastes can be reused with a little creativity. We should never take things for granted or waste resources. Here I’d like to suggest everyone develop a thrifty habit. Let’s try to repurpose old items in daily life. Small efforts will surely help build a greener and more economical world. Every day was a mountain safari: A spotted cat rested in a tree. Deer thundered past the window at night. A bald eagle flew in the clouds. It was all just heavenly! Until I planted a garden. The tulips (郁金香) never stood a chance. After planting, I began searching for signs of them in April. I waited impatiently until the last snow storm finished in May — late May. Still no tulips. Curious, I decided to dig them up. Had they frozen? No, they were gone. In their place was a network of tunnels. Apparently, the seeds had provided a fancy rodent (啮齿动物) dinner. I decided to get serious. I consulted experts at the local garden center. Then I dug down 12 inches to seat the wire nets underground, blocking the digging invaders. Full of hope, I congratulated myself on a job well done. My children even put a little sign to remind the tiny robbers not to eat these plants. But they were useless for the chipmunks (花栗鼠). They dashed in and out of the tiny holes in the nets, totally ignoring the hopeless barrier. Off they carried their delicious food. Tulips would never recover! But it’s a good thing chipmunks are so adorable. I spotted one drinking from a recently watered leaf. Awww! But at the thought of my dream garden, I grew more determined. At the advice of one friend, I laid out piles of chicken feathers. At the suggestion of my children, I spread out masses of fur from our dog after her summer shave. The chipmunks didn’t care. In a flood of desperation, I returned to the garden center. “The wildlife!” I complained. I was lost in the sorrow of defeat. The other day, while we did laundry, I was still wondering about another round of tulip survival dream and thinking hard to drive away my unpleasant plant eating neighbours. I passed our sliding glass doors with my children and saw a touching scene. A mommy chipmunk was nursing her five babies. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ We were brainstorming ways to help the chipmunks. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】范文 A mommy chipmunk was nursing her five babies. The second I saw the tiny mouths begging for food, my mother instinct struck a chord with hers. How could I just put the blame on a busy mother whose deep desire was simply to feed her starving babies? My constant garden dream gave way to the fluffy mom’s equal love. Beside me stood my children, their eyes misty with the moving scene. They stared up at me, saying, “Mom, chipmunk babies just need something to eat.” We reached a conclusion that we’d better set aside our chipmunk-unfriendly garden dream to aid our fragile furry neighbours. We were brainstorming ways to help the chipmunks. Various ideas popped into our head. Then we accessed the Internet and consulted from diverse sources. Eventually, a chipmunk’s favourite mini pet garden made its debut. Eager and hopeful, we peeked at the family. Cautious and curious, they danced forward, sniffed and explored the newly built playground gradually. Weeks later, they were totally used to the new feeder, running wheel, chew toys and climbing frames, marking a pleasant start of a whole new fun garden. Through a slight adjustment, we could enjoy the company of these adorable neighbours peacefully and witness the blossom of harmonious flowers! 词汇激活 行为类 ①帮助:aid/assist ②出现:pop into/appear 情绪类 ①动人的:moving/touching ②好奇的:curious/inquisitive 【点睛】[高分句型1] How could I just put the blame on a busy mother whose deep desire was simply to feed her starving babies?(运用了whose引导定语从句) [高分句型2] Weeks later, they were totally used to the new feeder, running wheel, chew toys and climbing frames, marking a pleasant start of a whole new fun garden.(运用了现在分词作状语) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 河南省信阳高级中学新校(贤岭校区)、老校(文化街校区) 2025-2026学年高一下期06月测试(二) 英语试题 考生注意: 1. How much is the shirt? B At 27, as a new mother, I had been wrestling with stress and worry, which led me to explore acupuncture. C The world’s top climate scientists of the IPCC have just released a landmark report, warning about the future of the planet. D About 50 residents of a community outside Chile's capital spent Saturday trying their best to power an entirely human-operated artificial intelligence (AI) website that could answer questions and make silly pictures on command, in a message to highlight the environmental toll of AI data centers in the region. The Contribution of Volunteers to AI To keep gratitude in my daily life, I started playing a game called “three things”. ____36____ For example, a project finished early, a sunny day for running and my Dad cooking his famously mouthwatering hamburgers that night. Playing “three things” works well with its companion attitude — presence. ____37____ I spent so much time worrying over past actions or about future events. It was only when I tried to live in the moment that I realized this. If I’m truly in the moment, I’m not worrying. ____38____ When worry taps on my shoulder, I’ve learned to handle it. Once that time is up, I let it go. And if there’s nothing I can do? I skip straight to letting it go. No hesitation, no guilt. ____39____ Sometimes I need reminders. Recently I was feeling upset, knowing I should exercise but feeling uninspired. “Will you go jogging with me?” I asked my Dad. “I can’t,” he said. “My foot’s been acting up again. I really need to stay off it.” I must have let my disappointment show, because he glanced over and said, “Hey, don’t look so sad! D.
