Last month, Class 3 prepared an advertisement for world cultural spots. At first, many students only wanted to put beautiful pictures on the poster. Their English teacher, Ms. Zhao, reminded them that a good travel ad should not simply say that a place is famous. It should tell visitors where the place is, what they can see, what history it has and why it should be protected.
The group leader, Chen Hao, chose the Palace Museum as the first example. He wrote that it is located in the centre of Beijing and dates back to the Ming Dynasty. Wang Yue added that it has thousands of precious treasures, but she did not copy long paragraphs from the Internet. Instead, she used clear sentences to explain that professional workers maintain the treasures with outstanding skills. Another student introduced souvenirs in the style of the treasures because they make museum art closer to daily life.
The class also added a small part about the Silk Road. They explained that the ancient trade road connected China and Europe and worked as a cultural bridge. To make the ad useful, they included a map, a short slogan and three travel tips: respect local rules, protect cultural artifacts and learn before travelling. When the posters were shown in the hallway, many students stopped to read them. Ms. Zhao said the best ad was not the most colourful one, but the one that helped people understand culture and responsibility.
21. Why does Ms. Zhao remind students before they design the ad?
A. She wants them to use only pictures. B. She believes famous places need no introduction.
C. She asks them to sell more souvenirs. D. She thinks an ad should include meaningful information about the spot.
22. Which information about the Palace Museum is included in Chen Hao's part?
A. It is located in the centre of Beijing. B. It is in Suzhou and has gardens.
C. It starts from Guangzhou to Europe. D. It is the first bridge over the Yellow River.
23. Why does Wang Yue mention professional workers?
A. To show tourists can touch every treasure. B. To explain how treasures are protected and maintained.
C. To prove souvenirs are more precious than treasures. D. To ask students to copy online paragraphs.
24. What can we infer from the three travel tips?
A. Local rules are important only in museums abroad. B. Students should avoid learning before travelling.
C. Cultural artifacts can be replaced by colourful maps. D. Travelling should be connected with respect and protection.
25. What does Ms. Zhao value most in a travel ad?
A. Expensive printing. B. Many Internet paragraphs.
C. Cultural understanding and responsibility. D. A large number of bright pictures.

When Lin Wei first became a volunteer guide in the city museum, he thought the job would be simple. He only needed to remember several dates and lead visitors from one hall to another. On the first training day, however, the old guide Mr. Sun told him, 'A museum is not a quiet warehouse. Every artifact has a story, and every visitor may need a different way to understand it.'
Lin Wei's first task was to introduce a small model of an ancient bridge. He could say its name and dynasty, but he could not explain why people still cared about it. Mr. Sun asked him to look at the model again. The bridge connected two busy towns, helped trade grow and allowed families to visit each other during festivals. Suddenly, Lin Wei realized that an old structure could show the life of real people.
One Sunday, a group of primary school children visited the museum. They were noisy at first and kept asking whether there was a gift shop. Lin Wei did not become angry. He asked them to imagine crossing the bridge with fruit, cloth and letters hundreds of years ago. The children became quiet and began to ask better questions. After the visit, a boy said he wanted to protect old bridges because they carried memories. Lin Wei felt proud, not because he had remembered every fact, but because he had helped someone see the value of heritage.
Later, Lin Wei wrote in his volunteer diary that protecting cultural heritage was not only the work of masters and professional workers. Students could also help by learning carefully, speaking politely and telling true stories to others.
26. What does Lin Wei think of the volunteer guide job at first?
A. It will be simple work. B. It will require building a bridge.
C. It will be impossible for students. D. It will focus only on selling souvenirs.
27. What does Mr. Sun want Lin Wei to understand about museum artifacts?
A. They should be kept away from all visitors. B. They have stories and need suitable explanation.
C. They are valuable only because they are expensive. D. They are easier to explain than modern pictures.
28. Why does Lin Wei ask children to imagine crossing the bridge long ago?
A. To make them forget the museum rules. B. To lead them quickly to the gift shop.
C. To help them connect the bridge with people's lives. D. To test whether they know the dynasty.
29. How does Lin Wei's feeling change in the passage?
A. From bored to angry and careless. B. From confident to afraid without growth.
C. From proud to unwilling to speak. D. From thinking the job simple to feeling proud of meaningful guiding.
30. What does Lin Wei learn from the experience?
A. Students can help protect heritage through learning and sharing. B. Only professional masters can protect heritage.
C. Visitors should never ask questions in museums. D. Old bridges should be replaced by new buildings.
【答案】26.A 27.B 28.C 29.D 30.A

World cultural spots are popular because they are beautiful, ancient or famous. However, their real value is deeper than a photo. A palace, a river, a garden or an old trade road can show how people lived, worked and exchanged ideas. When students visit such places, they do not simply collect souvenirs; they learn to connect the past with the present.
First, cultural spots help people understand history in a concrete way. A textbook may tell students that the Palace Museum dates back to the Ming Dynasty, but standing near its ancient structures can make that fact easier to feel. A guide's story about professional workers maintaining treasures also shows that history needs care, not just memory.
Second, cultural spots encourage cross-cultural understanding. The Silk Road, for example, was not only a road for goods. It contributed to exchanges between China and the West. Ideas, inventions and arts travelled along it, so it is often described as a cultural bridge. This kind of understanding can make young people more open-minded when they meet different cultures.
Finally, cultural spots need wise tourism. If visitors write on walls, climb statues or ignore rules, the damage may last for years. Wise tourism means learning basic information before the visit, following local rules and sharing correct knowledge afterwards. In this way, a trip can become a lesson in responsibility. Cultural heritage is like a long conversation between generations; we should listen carefully before we speak loudly.
31. According to Paragraph 1, what is the deeper value of world cultural spots?
A. They help people connect past life and present understanding. B. They make every visitor take the same photo.
C. They only provide cheap souvenirs. D. They replace all classroom learning.
32. What can we infer from Paragraph 2?
A. Textbooks are useless for learning history. B. History becomes more concrete when people see real structures and hear stories.
C. The Palace Museum needs no professional workers. D. Ancient structures are valuable only in photos.
33. What does the underlined word “concrete” in Paragraph 2 most nearly mean?
A. Quick and noisy B. Cheap and common
C. Private and secret D. Clear and real
34. What is the purpose of mentioning the Silk Road in Paragraph 3?
A. To show cultural spots can promote exchanges between different civilisations. B. To prove goods are more important than ideas.
C. To explain why roads should be wider. D. To ask students to travel only to Europe.
35. Which is the best title for the passage?
A. Why Souvenirs Are Popular B. Cultural Spots: Beauty, Memory and Responsibility
C. How to Take Photos at Museums D. The Fastest Way to Visit a Palace
【答案】31.A 32.B 33.D 34.A 35.B

32. 段落推理题。第2段通过故宫建筑和讲解故事说明,真实结构和故事能让历史更具体可感。
33. 词义猜测题。根据后句“standing near its ancient structures can make that fact easier to feel”可知,concrete 意为“清楚真实、具体可感”。
34. 段落作用题。第3段用 Silk Road 说明文化景点可促进中西文明交流,与 cultural bridge 呼应。

D
