(A)
Chemical reactions (化学反应) make for some great experiments. You can make use of the CO₂ (carbon dioxide) given off by a baking soda and lemon juice reaction to blow up your balloon!
What you’ll need:
*A balloon.
*About 40 ml of water.
*A soft drink bottle.
* Juice from a lemon.
*1 teaspoon of baking soda.
Instructions:
* Before you begin, make sure that you pull the balloon long to make it as easy as possible to blow up.
* Put the 40 ml of water into the soft drink bottle.
* Add the baking soda and mix it with water.
* Put the lemon juice in and quickly put the balloon over the mouth of the bottle.
What’s happening?
If all goes well, then your balloon should inflate (膨胀)! Adding the lemon juice to the baking soda creates a chemical reaction and produces CO₂. The gas rises up and escapes through the soft drink bottle. It doesn’t, however, escape the balloon, pushing it outwards and blowing it up.
1. Which of the following do you need for the experiment?
A. Two cups B. Apple juice

One day, Tom’s neighbour, Alice, saw him from her yard. She hadn’t seen him outside for several days! She wanted to help Tom. Then she had an idea.
Alice said to Tom, “Hello, Tom! Just look at this fence between our houses. It is falling apart. You are a strong man. Can you help me fix this fence?”
After hearing Alice’s words, Tom was a little angry. He didn’t want to help her. He thought he was the one who needed help. He thought Alice was kind of rude. However, he agreed to help Alice because Alice was too old to fix the fence herself.
Tom spent a few days fixing the fence. When he finished, Alice thanked him. Tom gave her a smile. It was his first time to smile after his wife passed away.
“What a wonderful job! Could you please paint it for me?” Alice said to him.
Tom thought for a while and agreed. Then he began to paint the fence in the hot sun. As their neighbours passed by and saw Tom, they all praised Tom for what he did. Tom felt happy and proud. He felt like his life was not pointless any more. Alice wanted Tom to know that staying busy could help him forget his sorrow(悲伤).

Can you imagine a sea of sand three times bigger than India? This is the Sahara Desert (撒哈拉沙漠), the largest hot desert in the world. It covers 10 countries in North Africa and is over 9 million square kilometers. That’s more than 25% of Africa.
The Sahara has a hot and dry climate, with very little rainfall. The average (平均的) temperature during the day is around 38°C. The daytime temperature can reach over 50°C during the summer months. At night, temperatures can drop down to as low as -3°C. The Sahara is also known for its strong winds, which can cause sandstorms.
How can you stay alive in the Sahara? Marco Rivera, our survival (生存) expert, has some advice.
First, during the day, cover your body, head, face and eyes to protect you from the sun. You will also need warm clothes and a blanket (毛毯) at night. It can get cold very quickly. Second, try to drink some water at least once every hour. You need your water to last as long as possible. Third, talk as little as possible. When you talk, you lose water from your body. Last, eat as little as you can, because if you eat, you will get thirsty and drink all of your water more quickly. You can live for three weeks with no food, but you can only live for three days without water.

根据固定搭配make a+名词,后文that they would share the harvest equally是约定的具体内容,为同位语从句修饰空格名词。
At the same time, David could not sleep, either,此处体现布鲁斯睡不着的状态。
根据后文quietly went to the field,是夜里起身出门的动作。
They piled their harvest in the field,两人的粮食都是成堆堆放。
agreed with同意某人观点,语境无关;woke up醒来,不能直接体现内心牵挂;worked for为……
根据后文had no one to help him with the work,体现布鲁斯独自一人的处境。
应选用same,the same size为常用搭配,意为同样的尺寸、大小一致。

Laozi is a great man in China. He tells us that the character is just like water. All life in the world cannot live without ____46____, but water never asks for anything in return. It just keeps giving quietly. ____47____ seems that we have always taken qualities like bravery and toughness (坚韧) as goodness, but we should not forget what water has taught us.
In dealing with people, we can act like water. Do our best ____48____ help others without trying to get praise or money. At ____49____ same time, stay humble (谦虚的). It is unwise to always talk about the help you gave to others. Remember water will not choose ____50____ to go; it just flows to the place where it is needed.

* Juice from a lemon.
