Dear Leon,
How is everything going?
You asked about my hometown food. Let me tell you — my favorite traditional food is noodles.
In Henan, we have many kinds of noodles. My favorite is handmade noodles. They are long, white and soft. Sometimes they are put in a bowl with some green vegetables and an egg.
Why do I like them so much? First, they taste very nice. Second, eating noodles at home with my family makes me feel warm and happy. Also, in our culture, long noodles stand for long life.
I hope you can come to Henan and try them one day.

Li Wei was a 14-year-old student from a small town in Henan. Every morning, he walked 20 minutes to school to save the 2-yuan bus fare (交通费). He quietly put the money into a bottle on his desk. When his mother asked why, he just smiled and said, “A little surprise.” In his heart, he dreamed of using the money to help someone in need one day.
Li Wei’s classmate, Xiao Yu, had a sick grandmother; she needed medicine every month. Xiao Yu’s parents worked far away in a big city, and the family was very short of money. They could hardly pay for the daily meals. One rainy day, Xiao Yu didn’t come to school. The teacher told the class in a low voice, “Xiao Yu may have to leave school. He can’t afford the fees.”
That afternoon, Li Wei walked to the teacher’s office with the bottle in his hand. His heart beat fast, but he said firmly (坚定地), “There is 240 yuan here. It’s not much, but please give it to Xiao Yu.” His voice was soft, but his eyes were bright and sure.
The teacher was deeply moved. Her eyes got wet. She shared Li Wei’s story with the whole school. Soon, students began to bring their pocket money — some coins, some notes. One shy girl brought only one yuan, but she said, “Every coin helps.” Another boy emptied his piggy bank with a smile. Within a week, the school raised over 5,000 yuan. Xiao Yu returned to class with tears in his eyes. He hugged Li Wei and said, “Thank you, my friend.”
Later, the school set up a “Little Helpers Fund” to help students in need. Li Wei became the first student helper. At the school meeting, he said, “A single coin can’t do much, but together we can change a life.”

Heavy rain can come suddenly and bring great danger. Sometimes, it causes floods or destroys roads. However, if you know what to do, you can keep yourself safe both outside and at home.
When you are outside during heavy rain:
First, stay away from low-lying places. Floodwater can rise very quickly there. If you see water on the road, do not walk into it — a small amount of moving water can knock you off your feet. Second, never stand under a tree or near a power line. Rain often comes with lightning, which is quite dangerous. Third, find a strong building to take cover. If there is no building around, try to get to higher ground immediately.
When you are at home during heavy rain:
Close all doors and windows tightly (紧紧地) so that rainwater cannot come inside. If the rain is too heavy and water starts to come into your house, move to a higher floor or a safe shelter. Remember to male your phone work well and listen to the local news or weather reports. Following the advice of officials can help you avoid serious danger.
Most importantly, do not go outside unless you have to. Heavy rain is not only uncomfortable — it can be deadly. But if you stay calm and follow these rules, you will get ready. A little knowledge and careful action may save your life one day. Stay safe, and remember: it is always better to be ready before the storm comes.

The Internet is a great place to learn and have fun. 36 Here are some important tips to help you stay safe online.
37 Never share your real name, home address, phone number, or school name with people you meet online. Also, do not tell anyone your password except your parents. A strong password — with letters, numbers, and symbols — can keep your accounts safe.
Be careful about what you share. 38 Before you post a picture or a message, ask yourself: Am I okay with everyone seeing this? Once something is online, it is very hard to take it back.
39 Just like in real life, be careful when someone you do not know tries to talk to you online. If a stranger sends you a message, do not reply. Tell your parents or a teacher about it.
Check before you believe. Not everything online is true. 40 Before you share something, make sure it comes from a good website.
Take breaks. Spending too much time online is bad for your eyes and your health. Remember to take a break every hour.
The Internet is a useful tool, but you must use it wisely. If you follow these rules, you can enjoy all the good things it brings — and stay away from the trouble.
