Gathering all his courage, Adam stepped up, looked directly at Mr. Smith and said, “Sir, I really love football and I’ve got tired of hearing people say I’m too small to play. Actually I could do as well as the big boys and even better!” Hearing Adam’s words, Mr. Smith raised his eyebrows and thought for a while. Seeing Mr. Smith hesitate slightly, Adam begged him sincerely for a chance. Finally, Mr. Smith nodded and told him to come the next day. The next day Adam came to the tryout. The players were divided into two groups and Adam ran actively through the field, seeking a chance to goal. Soon, Harold passed him the ball! Adam positioned himself, jumped as high as he could and kicked the ball with his head down. The ball flew directly into the net! A perfect bicycle kick! When Mr. Smith announced the qualified players, Adam’s heart pounded fiercely. But do you know one of the most-visited European cities is also a part of Asia? I’m talking about Istanbul in northwest Turkey, one of the only cities on two continents. I’m publishing this video to share facts about my home city. So, let’s get started. The first things many people notice are ancient buildings, roads, and markets. Indeed, history books and articles explain this because Istanbul has been a major city for over 2500 years. Throughout this time, the city has gained influence from many groups, cultures, and religions (宗教). Today, Istanbul features some of the world’s oldest markets and towers. But it is most well known for the temples. Plus, there are few more beautiful sights than Istanbul’s leaves changing color and then falling off in autumn. That makes this the best time of year to visit. But no matter when people visit, I’m sure guests will love my hometown! Finally, if you like the video, please give it a thumbs-up and share it with your friends. I’ll choose several lucky fans and mail some postcards of Istanbul to you. 1 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $听力考试正式开始。Gina, you are going to start your job on monday. Let's go shopping this weekend. I'd love to. B I have long realized that people who have grown up on a farm have a leg up on so many future job prospects. Exposed to the very true saying that necessity is the mother of invention, farm kids witnessed parents who could perform a master class on figuring out a solution to any number of breakdowns on the fly. We all knew the names of hand tools before we started first grade. Much of this education transferred without a word uttered, and no praise or reward was expected. People who visited my parents were always astonished that we kids got our barn boots and headed out the door for milking time without a word said. There was no complaining. We knew that the sooner we got started, the sooner we would be done. What we didn’t realize is that we were learning life skills and mastering simple strategies to deal with challenges that inevitably landed in our path. We could draw on dozens of previous experiences we had helped our parents through. Not too long ago, I heard a friend of mine saying that hiring a young person who was raised on a farm is a dream find and getting harder to come by as our landscape changes. This fact is worrisome in nearly every career lane. If a young nursing student has assisted with animals, there is sympathy and attention to detail already in the makeup of that student. Judgment has been developed, helping to determine a minor issue versus a major one. A young truck driver who grew up working on tractors (拖拉机) already has an eye for safety. If a tire is low, it will be checked and addressed before taking to the open road. A young person starting just about any job starts at a disadvantage if they’ve done nothing but play throughout their life. Most of my classmates, even if their own parents were not farmers, had the opportunity to be hired by a farmer, even if just for summer work. However, that fact has changed greatly over the years, even in my rural community. I truly miss those simple, golden days. 24.What does the author think of farm life? A.It is tiring and demanding. B.It is practical and educational. C.It is filled with job opportunities. D.It is full of unexpected challenges. 25.Which of the following would the author’s friend approve of? A.The job market is increasingly competitive. B.It’s getting harder to hire qualified employees. C.Farm experiences bring out fine qualities in people. D.People raised on a farm are disadvantaged in most careers. 26.What is the author’s attitude toward the change mentioned in the last paragraph? A.Disapproving. B.Tolerant. C.Favorable. D.Doubtful. 27.What can be a suitable title for the text? A.Why Practical Skills matter B.How to Get Better Job Prospects C.The Gift of Growing up on a Farm D.The Simple Pleasures of Farm Life C As advancements in AI continue to unfold, robots are emerging as a transformative force in the elderly care industry across China. With innovations ranging from feeding robots to those designed for recovery and hygiene (卫生) assistance, an increasing range of age-friendly tech products is being introduced to support seniors. These cutting-edge solutions are making up for traditional family-based care models, announcing a new era in the way we approach elder care. Recently, cities such as Shanghai and Xi’an, have launched innovative smart elderly care initiatives aimed at enhancing the combined development of elderly care services and related industries. This move came in response to the rising interest in smart elderly care. Many nursing homes in Chinese cities are now integrating intelligent care robots into their operations. For example, at a home care center in Fuzhou, a group of seniors averaging 86 years old are enjoying a more convenient and dynamic lifestyle thanks to the introduction of “smart nannies.” Among the cutting-edge technologies being employed to assist seniors with disabilities are robotic “caregivers,” multifunctional transfer bed-chairs, and fall-detection alarms. In 2024, a resident from Shenzhen, Guangdong, surnamed Xia, invested nearly 30,000 yuan in a toileting care robot for his 80-year-old bedridden grandfather, which can help him stand and walk for toileting. It can automatically sense needs and perform fully automated processes. Since its introduction, this toileting care robot has greatly eased the caregiving burden on family members. “It’s much less exhausting now. When the drain water tank is full, we just empty the wastewater and refill it with clean water,” Xia said. He expressed hope for more walking-assist robots, noting that the high cost of current models remains a barrier for many families. Chen Zhengxiang, an AI model trainer based in Suzhou, East China’s Jiangsu Province, has conducted research in many nursing homes across the country. He told the Global Times that current robots on the market still have shortcomings in human-robot interaction. For instance, they struggle to recognize commands spoken in local dialects, and their emotional interactions remain at a programmed response level. 28.What is mainly talked about in the first paragraph? A.Robots are transforming Chinese industry. B.Tech products help the elderly live longer. C.Elderly care robots see growing popularity. D.AI speeds up the production of care robots. 29.What can robots at a home care center in Fuzhou do? A.Help doctors operate on the sick elderly. B.Pick seniors up who fall to the ground. C.Make nursing homes easily accessible. D.Move seniors in a more convenient way. 30.What does the underlined word “bedridden” in paragraph 5 mean? A.Having limited mobility. B.Abandoned to diseases. C.Lack of consciousness. D.Unable to express oneself. 31.What does the author want to stress about elderly car robots in the last paragraph? A.Extensive market prospects. B.The room for improvement. C.The difficulty in training them. D.Potential application in nursing. D A team of Chinese scientists recently invented a micro-motion sensor that allows people to control devices and type text by blinking (眨眼睛). The sensor is fixed to special eyeglasses and applied through two real-time human-machine interfaces — a smart home control system and a wireless hands-free typing system. It makes direct contact with the wearer’s skin around the eyes and responds to changes in pressure when the wearer blinks intentionally to trigger (触发) a computer response. “It is like a third hand,” said Professor Hu, who led the research. She said the sensor can help people control devices when both hands are occupied, or help people with disabilities to communicate and perform daily tasks. In the new study, Hu and her colleagues designed the sensor based on what’s called a triboelectric nanogenerator — or TENG — to detect the motion of the skin around the corners of eyes, which has never been considered as a good trigger signal source. When the TENG sensor is attached to the glasses, the minute muscle movement of a closing eye momentarily pushes the sensor’s layers together, generating an electrical signal that can be reliably measured. It is super-sensitive, stable, easy and cheap. The team is now applying for a patent in China and overseas. In the near future, they expect to see it on the market. The sensor can initiate tasks such as turning a light on or off. When the glasses are connected to a computer screen, the wearer can blink as a cursor (光标) passes over different keys, typing out words. “This TENG-based micro-motion sensor is distinct and unique in its fundamental mechanism, which provides a novel design concept for intelligent sensor techniques and shows great potential for application in human-machine interfaces,” said Hu. “For our next step, we would like to explore the great potential of TENG sensors in intelligent robots.” 32.Which aspect of the sensor is paragraph 2 mainly about? A.Its operation process. B.Its working principles. C.Its practical applications. D.Its theoretical foundation. 33.Who can benefit from the sensor according to Professor Hu? A.A blind teenager desiring to see the light. B.A boy wanting to chat with friends overseas. C.A secretary incapable of typing words rapidly. D.A lady unable to open the door with full hands. 34.What does the author say about the TENG sensor? A.It is responsive and affordable. B.It keeps track of eye movements. C.It is bound to be commercialized. D.It appears to be the best of its kind. 35.What’s the future research direction for Professor Hu’s team? A.Creating novel human machine interfaces. B.Enhancing wireless communication systems. C.Applying their sensors to smart machines. D.Equipping glasses with micro-motion sensors. 第二节 (共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 When tiredness sets in during the day, most of us reach for a “pick-me-up” in the form of sugar or caffeine. Sure, both of these improve energy levels fast. But they also lack staying power and aren’t good for our overall health. 36 . Once you know what high-energy foods to eat and a few best practices on how to eat them, you’ll be on your way to feeling better in no time. Start your high-energy diet with these four quick tips from dietitian (营养学家) Anna Kippen. ● 37 Research shows that people who eat breakfast perform better at tasks, eat fewer overall calories and miss fewer days of work and school than those who don’t. People who don’t eat breakfast are more likely to be less active in the morning. ● Avoid refined carbs Carbohydrates (碳水化合物) provide much-needed energy for your body. But highly refined (精制的) carbs, such as white bread, candy and sweet baked goods lead to a carb crash, making you feel sleepy. 38 . Try oatmeal, brown rice, blueberries, or oranges, for starters. ● Add lean protein to meals and snacks Protein takes longer to digest. When you eat it with a carbohydrate, it slows the release of sugar into your bloodstream. You get continuous energy without the crash. For example, try adding a serving of nuts, nut butter (no sugar added), or yogurt to your meals or snacks. ● Choose small, frequent meals to power your day For some of us, when we skip meals or eat too infrequently, our energy levels can fall so low that we may overeat at the next meal. 39 . For example, pair a lean protein, such as fish or chicken, with an unrefined carbohydrate, such as brown rice and the most important part, the vegetables! 40 . By making healthy choices in your diet and daily habits, you can enjoy steady vitality. Follow these tips regularly to better manage your daily tasks. A.Always have breakfast B.Plan delicious breakfasts C.Luckily, you have better choices for staying awake D.Combine the tips above for success, and do them regularly E.For lasting energy, eat unrefined carbs and fiber-rich foods F.Staying energized throughout the day is vital for productivity and focus G.Choosing the right snacks can be difficult when you are leading a busy life 第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。 If I had to name one thing that unbelievably made me closer to my community, reduce my waste, lower my household spending and get cool stuff, it’s Buy Nothing. He loved the smell of the grass as he slid across it. And he loved the excitement when he shot the ball into the net. There was nothing in this world that could weigh the same as football in his heart. He dreamed of growing up to be a professional footballer. Every day Adam would go to the field and practise with his friends. He still remembered when he asked to join the older boys, they teased (取笑) him, “You’re too small. Football is for big, tough players, not for someone your size.” Then when they saw he could run, kick, and shoot as well as they could, the teasing stopped. Adam played hard and really had a gift. He even became the only one in the group who could do the bicycle kick (倒挂金钩)! One day after school, Adam went to the playground to practise as usual. The boys were talking quietly, casting excited glances at a man who was watching the field. As Adam joined the group, Captain Harold told him the man, called Mr. Smith, was looking for players for his football camp and there would be a tryout match the next day. Adam could hardly contain his excitement. The camp meant there would be professional coaches to train him! He would do anything to join it. After the practice, Mr. Smith approached and Adam crowded close so he could see him. “Who wants to come to my football camp and really learn to play this game?” Mr. Smith asked. Excited hands shot up. Mr. Smith shook them all and shook Adam’s hand last. “Little man, I saw you run fast,” he said. “But you are far too thin and short for my camp. You’ll get knocked down in a second.” Adam looked down so no one would see his disappointment. “It’s not fair! Adam’s been practising with us and he’s the only one who ever did the bicycle kick!” Harold argued. 注意: 1.续写词数应为150左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Inspired, Adam decided to seize the opportunity. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The next day Adam came to the tryout. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 1 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
