Accidents often happen around us, so learning to protect ourselves is necessary for every student. Here is some useful advice on how teenagers can keep safe in different situations.
First, kitchen safety is very important. Never leave hot oil on the stove when you go away, because it can easily catch fire. If the pan catches fire, don’t pour water on it. You should cover the pan with a lid to put out the fire. If you get burnt, cool the burn under running cold water first, then go to see a doctor.
Second, learn simple first-aid skills for small injuries. When someone has a nosebleed, don’t let them lie back. Ask them to sit up straight and press the sides of their nose for several minutes. If your classmates fall down and hurt their knees, help them clean the wound and put a bandage on it.
Third, road safety can never be ignored. Don’t ride bikes too fast, and never use mobile phones while riding. When crossing the road, we must look both ways and walk on the zebra crossing. We shouldn’t put ourselves in dangerous situations.
Last but not least, stay away from strangers online. Never tell strangers your home address or phone number. If you meet something terrible, call your parents or the police at once.
If we follow these rules, we can take good care of ourselves and stay safe every day.
4. What should we do first if the cooking pan is on fire?
A. Cover the pan with a lid. B. Call the doctor right away. C. Pour plenty of water into the pan.
5. What should we never share with online strangers?

Eight-year-old Fern one day saved the weakest little pig Wilbur. She fed him warm milk every day and took good care of him like her little brother. But when Wilbur grew bigger, Fern’s father had to sell him to her uncle’s Zuckerman farm. Although Fern visited him every weekend, Wilbur still felt very lonely.
One day, an old sheep told Wilbur a terrible thing: the farmer was making him grow bigger and stronger just to kill him for Christmas dinner. Wilbur cried sadly and fell into great despair. Just at that moment, a spider named Charlotte spoke gently to him from the top of the doorway. She made a promise that she would try her best to save Wilbur’s life, though she had no clear plan at first. Wilbur doubted her at first, but Charlotte truly kept her word.
With the help of a rat, Charlotte came up with a plan. Every quiet midnight, she wove (织) warm praise words such as Some Pig, Terrific and Humble on her spider web (蜘蛛网) above Wilbur’s pigpen (猪圈). When the farm worker found the magical words early one morning, he was completely shocked. Soon the news traveled to every corner of the whole town, and villagers traveled a long way to see this amazing miracle and the special pig.
Later, the Zuckermans even took him to a big show. Charlotte followed Wilbur there and finished her final web work there. Wilbur won a special prize, and no one would ever think of killing him anymore. However, Charlotte spent all her strength and became very tired and weak. She laid her egg sac and then died.
Before she left, she told Wilbur the true meaning of friendship. Later, Wilbur guarded Charlotte’s eggs carefully year after year. When baby spiders came out, they wove new webs above Wilbur’s pigpen, just as their mother did. Wilbur finally understood: true friendship means giving everything for the one you care about.
8. Why did Wilbur fall into great despair on the farm?
A. Fern could not visit him on weekends anymore.
B. No animals wanted to make friends with him.
C. He knew the farmer would kill him for Christmas dinner.
9. What does the underlined phrase kept her word in Paragraph 2 mean?
A. 信守诺言 B. 忘记承诺 C. 重复话语
10. What can we infer (推断) from the last two paragraphs?
A. Charlotte finished her web works easily.
B. The baby spiders left the farm and never came back again.
C. Wilbur carried on (延续) Charlotte’s love and friendship all his life.
11. What is the main idea of the passage?
A. How Fern fed a little pig.
B. A moving story about true friendship.
C. How villagers found amazing words on a spider’s web.

The Patch (补丁) of Life
One day, my daughter’s white blouse had a big opening on the back. My wife looked it over carefully and said, “Let me take it home and mend (缝补) it.”
Three days later, when I saw the blouse again, I felt really shocked. All the cracks and openings were mended with thin white thread (线). The lines looked like branches covered with ice in winter. To make this special look stronger, she cut some pieces of soft white cotton cloth, and some flowery cloth, then stuck them on the shirt.
“It looks just as beautiful as a piece of art,” I praised it.
“People may feel regretful (遗憾) about broken things,” my wife answered. “But a good craftsman can turn them into something perfect.”
Her words gave me a deeper thought! Like the blouse, we all have breaks and wounds(伤), and it’s impossible for everything to be perfect. Since we cannot make wounds disappear, we can use patches to turn them into art. These “patches” are something we cannot avoid. They may come as hurts, physical problems or illnesses, and they are just like the difficult parts in our life. Don’t hide your wounds or breaks! Don’t be ashamed (羞愧) of the patch of life! It is a special kind of beauty and makes us different from others.
36. How did the writer feel when he saw the mended blouse three days later?
________________________________________
37. According to the wife, what can a good craftsman do with broken things?
________________________________________
38. What does the “patches” in our life?
________________________________________
39. What do you learn from the passage?
________________________________________
40. 将短文中画线部分翻译成中文。
________________________________________
【答案】36.
He felt really shocked.
37.
Turn them into something perfect.
38.
The difficult parts in our life.
39.
We should not be ashamed of our wounds and turn them into beauty.
40.

第二段第一句“Three days later, when I saw the blouse again, I felt really shocked.”,直接提取人物感受作答,为原文直接信息。
【37题详解】
第四段第二句妻子的原话“But a good craftsman can turn them into something perfect.”,摘抄对应内容即可。
【38题详解】
第五段第五句写明“They may come as hurts, physical problems or illnesses, and they are just like the difficult parts in our life.”,整合句子信息得出答案。
【39题详解】
本题为开放性感悟题,答案不唯一,需结合文章末尾“Don’t hide your wounds or breaks! Don’t be ashamed of the patch of life! It is a special kind of beauty and makes us different from others.”提炼核心观点,表意通顺即可。
【40题详解】
“we all have breaks and wounds, and it’s impossible for everything to be perfect”译为“我们都有裂痕和伤口,所有事物都不可能做到完美”。we all“我们所有人”;have“拥有”;breaks此处本义“破损、裂痕”,文中指代人生的缺憾、挫折;wounds“伤口、伤痛”,既指身体伤痕,也指心灵创伤;“It is+形容词+for sb./sth. to do sth.”意为“做某事对……来说是……的”,it是形式主语,真正主语是后面不定式to be perfect, impossible“不可能的”;everything“所有事物”;perfect“完美的”。

C. Wilbur carried on (延续) Charlotte’s love and friendship all his life.
11. What is the main idea of the passage?
A. How Fern fed a little pig.

37. According to the wife, what can a good craftsman do with broken things?
