In Britain you may often hear “Drop in any time” or “Come to see me soon”, but you can’t really do that. People just say those things to make you feel welcome. It is better to telephone before visiting someone at home. If you receive a written invitation to an event that says “RSVP”, you should reply to let the person who sent the invitation know whether you plan to go or not.
You should never accept an invitation unless you really plan to go. You may refuse by saying, “Thank you for inviting me, but I will not be able to come.” If after accepting, you are unable to go, be sure to tell those who are expecting you as soon as possible that you will not be there.
Though it is not necessarily (必要地) expected that you give a gift to your host, it is considered polite to do so, especially if you have been invited for a meal. Flowers, chocolate, or a small gift are all appropriate (合适的). A thank-you note or telephone call after the visit is also considered polite and is an appropriate way to express your appreciation for the invitation.
( ) 25. What can you do when a British friend says “Drop in any time”?
A. Visit him or her at any time. B. Say no time to him or her seriously.
C. Visit him or her soon. D. Telephone him or her before visiting.

Do you want to be a kind man? But what can you do if you want? The ten-year-old boy, Orion Jean, often practised it by volunteering with his family.
Last year, after entering the National Kindness Speech Competition (比赛), he became mad about it. Now he works to spread (传播) kindness everywhere through projects that help others. He calls his campaign (活动) the Race to Kindness.
When a teacher told him about the competition, Orion had only 24 hours to write, memorize, and record his speech. In it, he talked about the importance of kindness. “______” Orion said. He encouraged listeners to join him in doing small and kind acts for others.
Orion’s speech won the competition. He used his $500 in prize money to support (支持) his first Race to Kindness project, a toy drive for a local children’s hospital. He collected 619 toys. After that, Orion wanted to make an even bigger difference. Working with others, he packed meal bags for people in need with a kind message in each bag. Orion also organized several events in his community. In all, he collected more than 100,000 meals!

Recently, I asked a seeing friend who had just walked in the woods what she had noticed. “Nothing special!” she replied.
How was it possible, I asked myself, to walk through the woods and see nothing worthy of note? I who cannot see find hundreds of things to interest me only through touch. If I can get so much pleasure from touch, how much more beauty must be found by sight? And I have imagined what I should most like to see if I were given the use of my eyes for just three days.
On the first day, I should want to see the people who have made my life worth living and the books which have been read to me. In the afternoon, I should take a walk in the woods (树林) and enjoy the beauties of nature. That night, I should not be able to sleep.
On my second day, I should go to the museums to see man’s progress. I should try to explore the spirit of man through his art. In the evening, I should spend at the movies.
The following day, I should spend in the world of common people going about the business of life. At midnight permanent (永久的) night would close in on me again, and I should realize how much I had left unseen.
I who am blind can give one suggestion to those who see: Use your eyes as if tomorrow you would be blind. The same is true of other senses. Hear the songs of birds, as if you would be deaf tomorrow. Smell the flowers, as if tomorrow you could never smell again… But of all the senses, I’m sure that sight must be the most pleasant.
(Adapted from Three Days to See by Helen Keller)

( ) 35. What does the last paragraph mainly talk about?
A. A description of different senses. B. A way of living a pleasant life.
C. Encouragement to the blind people. D. Advice to people without disabilities.
( ) 36. Which is the best structure (结构) of the passage? (①=Paragraph 1 ②=Paragraph 2, …)

Adolescence (青春期) is a difficult time for teenagers. It takes place when you’re aged between thirteen and nineteen. 37 For example, you used to be happy to be with your parents, but now you need your own space. In fact, these changes are perfectly normal. But it’s important to remember that they’ll influence your relationship with your parents. 38
First, let your parents know you love them all the time. In their eyes, they have forever lost the little child you used to be. They may not say so, but they’ll probably feel a sense of loss.
Second, follow your family rules. You may feel these are unnecessary, but your parents’ main worry is just to keep you safe. 39 It may feel like a trouble to always remember to phone them and let them know where you’re, but make the effort anyway (不管怎样).
40 Keep talking to your parents. Tell them what you did today and let them know where you’re going. Besides, ask for advice if you need. All in all, the more you communicate with them, the more they’ll trust you.
A. So try your best to follow the rules and stick to them.
