The history of the pen is very long. A long time ago，people used sharp stones to make marks on things. Then，the ancient Egyptians made reed (芦苇) pens. They cut reeds and used them to write. Later，in China，people invented the writing brush. It feels soft and can write beautiful characters. In the Middle Ages in Europe，it was popular to use feathers (羽毛) of birds to write. ①Chinese scientists have made a very cool robot—GEAIR. It’s the first robot in the world that can help grow plants all by itself. This robot shows how smart technology and plant science can work together to make farming better.

②GEAIR works in greenhouses. Imagine a robot walking among plants，looking at flowers with its “eyes”，which are really cameras. When it sees a flower，it uses its robot arms to do something called pollination (授粉)—that’s like helping plants have “babies” to make new crops.
