China is a great country with many colourful traditional cultures. Some festivals are very famous, while others are known only to local people. The Hundred-Bird Dress Festival is one special and less-known tradition. It is celebrated by the Miao people who live in the mountains of Guangxi.
The festival takes place during the Chinese New Year. On that day, the Miao people dress in their best traditional clothes. Women wear beautiful clothes with shiny silver headdresses (头饰). Men play the lusheng, a traditional bamboo instrument. People sing and dance together in colourful costumes (服饰) to celebrate their culture.

The Miao people believe the dress can bring them good luck, happiness and peace with nature. It stands for their history and culture.
The festival is more than a celebration. It also helps pass on Miao traditions to the young. Children learn from the old how to make the clothes, play the lusheng and dance. In this way, their culture is handed down (被传承) from generation (一代人) to generation.

A mother duck sat on her eggs by the river. One by one, the eggs broke open, and yellow ducklings came out. But one big egg did not break. Finally, it broke open, and out came a large, grey bird. He did not look like his brothers and sisters. The other farm animals laughed at him and called him ugly.
Scene One
The ugly duckling tried to play with his brothers, but they pushed him away. “Go away,” they said. Even the farmer’s wife kicked him. He looked at himself in the water and saw a big, grey bird with a long neck. He did not look like any duck he had ever seen. So he decided to leave. He walked through the tall grass and did not look back.
Scene Two
Winter came. The duckling was cold and hungry. He found a hole in an old tree and lived there alone. One day, he saw a group of beautiful white birds flying high in the sky. They had long, beautiful necks and wide wings (翅膀). The duckling watched them with wonder. “Who are they?” he thought. He cried out to them, but they flew away. He wished he could be like them.
Scene Three
Spring arrived. The ice on the river melted. The duckling spread his wings and found they were strong. He flew up into the air for the first time. He landed on a beautiful lake where some white birds were swimming. He swam closer, and he was afraid they would push him away. But when he looked down at the water, he saw something surprising. His grey feathers (羽毛) had turned white. He was not a duck at all. He was one of those beautiful white birds—a swan. The other swans welcomed him.
Scene Four
Some children came to the lake and shouted, “Look! There is a new one!” The duckling felt his heart fill with joy. He thought to himself, “When I was called ugly, I was just a baby swan. Now I am grown up, and I am happy to be myself.”

① In the digital age, the internet makes our life more convenient and helps people in many fields. It is not only used for searching information or taking online courses, but also a lifesaving tool for doctors through tele-medicine. This technology allows medical experts to treat patients thousands of kilometers away.
② A touching story took place between Xizang and Shanghai. A patient in Xizang had a serious heart condition and needed an emergency operation. However, there were no expert doctors who could perform the difficult operation locally. The local doctors sent the patient’s medical reports and scans through the internet within minutes.
③ Through a high-speed internet connection, a heart expert in Shanghai guided the doctors in Xizang. He sat in front of a large screen, watching the patient and talking to the local doctors in real time. He used robotic arms to perform the operation from thousands of miles away. Every move he made was sent to the robotic arms in Xizang. After several hours of hard work, the operation was finally successful.
④ This remote operation shows how powerful the internet is. It helps doctors save lives even when they are far away from patients. With modern technology, distance is no longer a problem.
⑤ ________ In fact, similar stories are happening around the world. In rural Africa, doctors use the internet to get advice from specialists in Europe. In small islands of Southeast Asia, patients receive remote (远程的) surgery guidance. In South America, remote diagnosis (诊断) helps poor villages get medical care. The internet is turning the world into a connected community where medical help is always within reach.
⑥ In the future, more and more hospitals will use the internet to connect with one another. Patients in the most remote villages will get the same quality of care as people in big cities. The internet is truly a lifesaving tool. As technology improves, even more lives will be saved through tele-medicine.
32. What does Paragraph 3 tell us?
A. The local doctors worked hard for patients.
B. The internet makes it possible to do operations far away.
C. Doctors in Shanghai are better than those in Xizang.
D. Robotic arms are more important than human doctors.
33. Which sentence can be put in the ________?
A. But this is not the end of the story.
B. And Chinese students give us a good example.
C. So many patients would like to try this kind of operation.
D. However, doctors in Shanghai were too busy to help.

Lu Xun (1881-1936) was one of the most important writers in modern China. His real name was Zhou Shuren, and he was born in Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province.
When Lu Xun was young, his father was ill for a long time. They went to many traditional Chinese doctors, but none could save his life. In 1896, his father passed away. This made Lu Xun believe that Chinese medicine was not effective, so he decided to go to Japan to study Western medicine. He wanted to become a doctor and save more patients like his father. However, during his time in Japan, he saw something that changed his life forever. He realized that the Chinese people’s spirit was weak, as well as their bodies. He believed that writing could wake (唤醒) people up and change their thoughts. So, he made a life-changing decision: he gave up medicine and became a writer.
Lu Xun’s works are full of truth and courage. His most famous works include Diary of a Madman, The True Story of Ah Q, and Kong Yiji. In these stories, he criticized (批判) the old society and showed deep love for his country and people. His writing style is simple but powerful. Even today, his words still encourage readers.
Lu Xun spent his whole life helping his country with his pen. Reading his works helps us understand China’s history and learn to be brave and responsible. His stories remind (提醒) us to think deeply and care for our country. Lu Xun’s spirit lives on in every page of his works.

Have you ever imagined your lunch flying through the sky to reach you? It might sound like science fiction (科幻小说), but in Shenzhen, this is already a reality! Drone delivery (无人机送外卖) is becoming more and more popular in this high-tech city.
When you order food on an app, you can now choose “drone delivery” as a special option (选择). First, a delivery person takes your food to a nearby pickup point. Then, a drone carries it to a “delivery station” near you. The drone flies automatically, following a safe path in the sky. When it arrives, you just scan a QR code with your phone to open a special locker (带锁的柜子) and get your food. The whole trip is amazingly fast—it can take only 15 minutes to travel 3 kilometers!
This new service has many advantages. First, it is much faster than traditional delivery, especially during rush hours when streets are crowded with cars. Your food stays hot and fresh because there are no traffic problems in the sky. Besides, drones are environmentally friendly. They run on electricity and don’t burn gas like cars or motorcycles do. This helps reduce air pollution in the city.
However, drone delivery also has some disadvantages. Drones cannot fly safely in very strong winds, heavy rain, or thick fog. What’s more, they can only carry small orders under 2 to 3 kilograms. They also have to follow strict safety rules and cannot fly directly over crowded areas like schools or markets.
Even with these challenges, drone delivery is growing fast in Shenzhen. Soon, having your lunch delivered by a flying robot might become a normal part of everyday life!
Drone delivery is becoming popular in Shenzhen. When you order food, a drone carries it from a special point to a delivery station near you. The trip is very fast—it takes only 15 minutes to travel 3 kilometers.
There are many advantages. Drones are fast because they aren’t ______54______ heavy traffic. Besides, drones ______55______ because they don’t burn gas.
However, ______56______. Drones cannot fly safely ______57______. They have a weight limit, so they can only carry small orders. They also must follow safety rules.
Even with these challenges, drone delivery is growing fast in Shenzhen.

28. Why did the ugly duckling leave his home in Scene One?
A. He wanted to find food.
B. He was pushed away by others.
C. He wanted to meet the white birds.
D. His mother asked him to leave.
29. How did the other swans treat the duckling in Scene Three?
A. They pushed him away. B. They stayed with him.
C. They laughed at him. D. They flew away.
30. What can we infer from the text?
A. The duckling knew he was a swan from the beginning.
B. The other swans were unfriendly to him.
C. The duckling’s feelings changed over time.
D. The duckling went back to the farm at last.
31. Each picture above matches one scene. Which scene is missing?
A. Scene One B. Scene Two C. Scene Three D. Scene Four
B 29. B 30. C 31. A

根据Scene One的内容“The ugly duckling tried to play with his brothers, but they pushed him away…Even the farmer’s wife kicked him…So he decided to leave.”
根据Scene Three最后一句“The other swans welcomed him”可知,其他天鹅接纳了丑小鸭、和他共处。
根据Scene One可知,丑小鸭一开始被排挤孤独难过;根据Scene Two中“One day, he saw a group of beautiful white birds flying high in the sky…He wished he could be like them.”可知,丑小鸭看到天鹅心生向往;根据Scene Three中“But when he looked down at the water, he saw something surprising…He was one of those beautiful white birds—a swan.”
图1冬天丑小鸭躲在树洞旁对应Scene Two中“The duckling was cold and hungry. He found a hole in an old tree and lived there alone.”;图2丑小鸭在空中飞翔对应Scene Three中“The duckling spread his wings and found they were strong. He flew up into the air for the first time.”;图3孩子们在湖边看天鹅对应Scene Four中“Some children came to the lake and shouted…”;因此缺少的是Scene One。

He sat in front of a large screen, watching the patient and talking to the local doctors in real time. He used robotic arms to perform the operation from thousands of miles away.”
空白处位于第⑤段开头,其后一句“In fact, similar stories are happening around the world.” A“But this is not the end of the story.”

When Lu Xun was young, his father was ill for a long time. They went to many traditional Chinese doctors, but none could save his life. In 1896, his father passed away.
原句“Confucius never stopped learning from others.”
在将原句“Confucius never stopped learning from others.”

Learn to Protect Ourselves in a Flood
