I first fell in love with acupuncture (针灸) when I realized that it could be a cure for a migraine, a very bad headache that often makes you unable to bear strong light. Before I discovered acupuncture, I tried everything for migraines. Eventually, my battle with migraines started to affect my studies and my relationships with my husband and friends. I couldn’t focus or get my work done. Nothing worked permanently. That was when I decided to give acupuncture a shot.
It took a few acupuncture sessions for me to start to notice gradual differences. In time, after following my treatment plan strictly, I went from having migraines more than half the days out of the month to just one or two migraines a month. I noticed I was having improvement with other symptoms as well.
As I started to see improvement in my own health, I realized there was so much more to this approach to health and curing than just acupuncture. I started to learn about the Chinese Medicine ideas behind the acupuncture treatments and became attracted to the idea of Qi, or energy, and how it is affected by the seasons, diet, and more. It was my own health journey that eventually led me to my pursuit of my master’s degree in Chinese Medicine in 2014.
When my patients come in for their first consultation, many are not aware of all of the potential benefits available to them beyond a simple acupuncture treatment. As a practitioner (执业者) in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), it is my job to listen, determine the range of the problem, educate and create a treatment plan for my patients. What I love about my career is that I have the opportunity to share a number of treatment options including acupuncture, cupping, and dietary recommendations, as well as little at-home tips that make a world of difference.
24.Why did the author try acupuncture?
A.Her quality of life declined. B.Her husband and friends advised her to try it.
C.She was unable to bear bright light. D.She had known its benefits before migraines.
25.What do we know about the acupuncture treatment?
A.It erased the author’s migraines. B.It involved complex treatment plans.
C.It worked gradually but effectively. D.It was closely based on the idea of Qi.
26.What did acupuncture bring to the author?
A.A higher academic degree. B.A firm decision to study medicine.
C.A reputation for treating migraines. D.An interest in Chinese medicine.
27.Which of the following best describes the author as a TCM practitioner?
A.Caring but cautious. B.Attentive and considerate.
C.Strict but encouraging. D.Knowledgeable and experienced.

According to a new study, AI chatbots tend to agree with their users so much that they often give bad advice, encouraging harmful behaviors and damaging personal relationships. The study tested 11 leading AI systems and found they all showed varying degrees of sycophancy — behavior that was overly agreeable and supportive.
Lead researcher Myra Cheng explained that the team launched the study after noticing more and more people were using AI for relationship advice and sometimes being misled by how it tends to take their side, no matter what. Her team compared the responses of popular AI assistants with the shared wisdom of humans on an advice website. It turned out that AI backed users’ improper actions 49% more often than humans did.
The team also conducted experiments observing about 2,400 subjects, and they found those who shared their interpersonal dilemmas with an AI chatbot became more certain they were right and less willing to repair relationships. Co-author Cinoo Lee pointed out that it meant they weren’t apologizing or changing their behavior, and he added the findings were especially significant for teenagers developing social and emotional skills through real-life interactions.
Moreover, the harm doesn’t stop there — it is widespread. In medical care, researchers say sycophantic AI could lead doctors to confirm their first judgment rather than encourage them to explore further. In politics, it could strengthen more extreme positions by supporting people’s fixed opinions.
Addressing sycophancy, however, is challenging. Sycophancy is so deeply embedded (嵌入) that tech companies may need to retrain their AI systems, said Cheng. A simpler fix could be instructing chatbots to challenge users more — for example, by starting with “Wait a minute.” Lee also put forward the idea of a better AI: it could recognize users’ feelings and remind them to consider others’ emotions, or even encourage face-to-face communication instead of online chatting. That matters because the quality of social relationships is a key marker of health and well-being. Above all, we need AI that broadens people’s views rather than narrows them.
28.Why did Myra Cheng’s team start the study?
A.AI assistants were often misled.
B.Tech companies trained AI improperly.
C.Advice websites worked poorly.
D.People were blinded by AI’s sweet talk.
29.What harm may AI sycophancy bring about?
A.Block relationship repairs. B.Chang people’s fixed minds.
C.Weaken original judgments. D.Mislead public medical opinions.
30.What is a possible solution to AI sycophancy?
A.Recognize the limit of chatbots.
B.Program AI to widen users’ views.
C.Instruct chatbots to please users.
D.Replace AI with face-to-face chats.
31.What is the main idea of the passage?
A.Advice from AI needs a second thought.
B.People depend heavily on AI for advice.
C.Tech companies are improving AI systems.
D.AI chatbots are challenging users’ opinions.
【答案】28.D 29.A 30.B 31.A

根据第二段中的“Lead researcher Myra Cheng explained that the team launched the study after noticing more and more people were using AI for relationship advice and sometimes being misled by how it tends to take their side, no matter what. (首席研究员迈拉・程解释说,该团队开展这项研究,是因为注意到越来越多人向人工智能寻求情感建议,且有时会被人工智能一味偏袒自己的话术误导。)”可知,团队开展研究是因为人们被人工智能的甜言蜜语蒙蔽、误导。
29.细节理解题。根据第三段中的“The team also conducted experiments observing about 2,400 subjects, and they found those who shared their interpersonal dilemmas with an AI chatbot became more certain they were right and less willing to repair relationships. (该团队还对约2400名研究对象开展实验,发现那些向人工智能聊天机器人倾诉人际困境的人会更加笃定自己没错,且更不愿意修复关系。)”可知,人工智能的谄媚特性会阻碍人们修复人际关系。
30.细节理解题。根据最后一段中的“Above all, we need AI that broadens people’s views rather than narrows them. (最重要的是,我们需要能够拓宽人们视野而非局限人们眼界的人工智能。)”可知,解决人工智能谄媚问题的可行方案是编程优化人工智能,使其拓宽用户视野。
31.主旨大意题。根据第一段中的“According to a new study, AI chatbots tend to agree with their users so much that they often give bad advice, encouraging harmful behaviors and damaging personal relationships. (根据一项新研究,人工智能聊天机器人往往过度认同用户,以至于经常给出糟糕的建议,助长不良行为、破坏人际关系。)”以及后文介绍的AI谄媚的各类危害、改良方向可知,全文围绕AI给出的建议存在弊端展开,提醒人们需审慎看待AI建议。

In modern daily life, people fill almost every spare moment with endless short videos and quick online news. Such easy access to fast entertainment has quietly changed people’s reading habits, leaving traditional literary works far less favored than they once were.
Many ordinary people have formed a fixed belief that novels and poems serve little practical purpose, unable to solve real-life troubles or bring immediate benefits, so they choose to stay away from serious reading completely. However, this view is one-sided. Literature is actually an irreplaceable treasure that benefits people greatly in the long run.
When one spends time staying with literary works, they are no longer limited to their own life experience. Between the lines, they can quietly experience the joy and sorrow of characters living in different surroundings and times.
This light emotional experience gradually shapes one’s inner sensitivity, allowing individuals to view life events from more than one angle instead of sticking to their own narrow understanding alone. Such inner growth can hardly be gained from those fast-paced online contents designed only for instant amusement.
People are easily influenced by popular online views which are usually simple and one-sided, leaving little space for personal thought. Literary creation behaves quite differently. It seldom provides definite answers to complex life problems, nor does it force readers to accept fixed opinions. Instead, it presents complicated life situations and inner conflicts, pushing readers to sort out hidden relations, observe human nature, and form their own judgments independently.
Some old literary works have survived hundreds of years and still attract modern readers. Behind their lasting attraction lie the shared human feelings and life puzzles that never change with time. Modern readers may find their own confusion and expectation reflected in those classic lines, feeling closely connected with strangers from distant generations.

32.What is the author’s major concern?
A.Fast entertainment is changing people’s spare time.
B.People ignore the long-term value of literary reading.

D.They carry everlasting human feelings and puzzles.
35.What is the author’s attitude towards people’s wrong idea against literature?

【答案】32.B 33.A 34.D 35.B
根据第一段的描述“In modern daily life, people fill almost every spare moment with endless short videos and quick online news. Such easy access to fast entertainment has quietly changed people’s reading habits, leaving traditional literary works far less favored than they once were. (在现代日常生活中,人们几乎将每一刻空闲时间都用来观看无穷无尽的短视频和快速浏览网络新闻。这种便捷的即时娱乐方式悄然改变了人们的阅读习惯,使得传统文学作品远不如以往受欢迎。)”以及第二段的“Many ordinary people have formed a fixed belief that novels and poems serve little practical purpose, unable to solve real-life troubles or bring immediate benefits, so they choose to stay away from serious reading completely. However, this view is one-sided. Literature is actually an irreplaceable treasure that benefits people greatly in the long run. (许多普通人认为小说和诗歌几乎没有实际用途,无法解决现实生活中的问题,也无法带来即时利益,因此完全选择远离严肃阅读。然而,这种观点是片面的。文学实际上是一种不可替代的宝贵财富,从长远来看能给人带来巨大益处。)”可知,作者主要担忧的是人们忽视了文学阅读的长期价值。
33.细节理解题。根据第四段的句子“This light emotional experience gradually shapes one's inner sensitivity, allowing individuals to view life events from more than one angle instead of sticking to their own narrow understanding alone. (这种轻微的情感体验逐渐塑造一个人内心的敏感性,使个人能够从多个角度看待生活事件,而不是只坚持自己狭隘的理解。)”可知,文学阅读通过提升人们的内心感受和对生活的看法来促进内在成长。
34.细节理解题。根据第六段的句子“Behind their lasting attraction lie the shared human feelings and life puzzles that never change with time. (它们持久吸引力的背后是不随时间变化的共同人类情感和生活谜题。)”可知,经典文学作品能吸引现代读者是因为它们承载着永恒的人类情感和谜题。
35.推理判断题。根据第二段的句子“However, this view is one-sided. Literature is actually an irreplaceable treasure that benefits people greatly in the long run. (然而,这种观点是片面的。文学实际上是一种不可替代的财富,从长远来看,它给人们带来了巨大的好处。)”以及最后一段的句子“It is improper to regard literature as nothing more than a way to kill time. (将文学仅仅视为消磨时间的方式是不恰当的。)”可知,作者对人们否定文学价值的错误观点持强烈的反对态度。
第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)
We can all relate to being criticized (批评) and then feeling terrible. There is not a single one of us who feels happy from being criticized. 36 Next time you are communicating with someone who is criticizing you, here are some ways to try.
Stay calm. I know that your heart may be beating rapidly and your palms (手心) may become sweaty but you must breathe deeply and appear calm. 37 You will get to the next several steps only if you can achieve it. Keep breathing deeply.
Listen. Before you start responding, let the person finish saying what they need to say. 38 Remain quiet until you finish listening. It is only when you have heard the person out that you can think about what they have said. Take a moment to prepare your response.
Buy yourself some time. Tell the person who has just criticized you that you need time to think about what they have said. If the person offering the criticism to you is important to you and you are not sure how to respond, then give yourself some time. Tell them that you will get back to them because you need 24 hours to think about this. 39 Don’t we?
40 Think about whether there are any positive messages in the communication. Perhaps the person who is telling the thoughts cares so deeply about you that they truly want you to be the best kind of yourself. Keep in mind that there may be something good going on here and try to find what that may be and see what you can learn.
A.Think positively.
B.Find out the purpose.
C.If you don’t, you will just make things worse.
D.Staying calm is always better than getting upset.
E.This gives you something to work with and think about.
F.But we can learn to deal with criticism effectively with the right way.
G.This is very helpful because we often feel differently about communication later on.
【答案】36.F 37.D 38.C 39.G 40.A

37.上文“I know that your heart may be beating rapidly and your palms (手心) may become sweaty but you must breathe deeply and appear calm.(我知道你的心跳可能很快,手掌可能会出汗,但你必须深呼吸,表现镇定。)”点明要强迫自己保持冷静,后文“You will get to the next several steps only if you can achieve it.(只有你能够做到镇定,才能进入接下来的几个步骤。)” D“Staying calm is always better than getting upset.(保持镇定永远比心烦意乱更好。)”
38.上文“Before you start responding, let the person finish saying what they need to say.(开口回应前,先让对方把话说完。)” C“If you don’t, you will just make things worse.(如果你不这样做,只会让事态恶化。)”
39.上文“Tell them that you will get back to them because you need 24 hours to think about this.(告诉对方你需要二十四小时思考,之后再和对方沟通。)” G“This is very helpful because we often feel differently about communication later on.(这样做十分有用,因为我们事后对沟通的感受常会发生改变。)”
40.后文“Think about whether there are any positive messages in the communication. Perhaps the person who is telling the thoughts cares so deeply about you that they truly want you to be the best kind of yourself.(想想沟通中是否有任何积极的信息。也许说出这些想法的人非常关心你,他们真的希望你成为最好的自己。)”整段围绕思考批评的积极意义展开论述,选项A“Think positively.(积极思考。)”为本段主旨句,统领下文全部内容。

第二节 (共10小题;每小题1.5分,满分15分)
阅读下面材料,在空白处填入适当的内容(1个单词)或所给单词的正确形式。
The original French musical hit Cyrano de Bergerac, one of the most moving love stories ever created, first came to China on May 14 in Shanghai, 56 (impress) audiences with lively, new changes and special new songs for the Chinese tour.
The musical is derived from the classic five-act poetic drama of the same name, 57 (write) in the 19th century by French poet and playwright Edmond Rostand. People call it “ 58 best 19th-century French drama.” This famous work 59 (win) the hearts of audiences for many years with its lasting beautiful language and strong feelings.
As a musical, the people 60 made it kept the romantic essence of the original while giving it a new meaning with modern ideas. It makes old characters like Cyrano, Roxane and Christian more easy to like for today’s audiences.
The touring musical 61 (use) a new way of telling the story. It does not keep the story in the 1600s. This new form cleverly moves it to a more modern, artistic world. Cyrano is now a talented but shy songwriter who works 62 the scenes; Roxane is a young woman who wants to be a ballet dancer. Cyrano hides his love for Roxane not because of his big nose, 63 because they are almost 30 years apart in age.
Stephane Brunello, one of the musical’s songwriters, says that creating the music was 64 (true) challenging as they explored ways to blend the original story with poetic French words and richer musical elements such as jazz, pop, rock, and more.“You will be 65 (emotion), surprised, amazed, and moved by this musical,” says Brunello.
56.impressing 57.written 58.the 59.has won 60.who/that 61.uses 62.behind 63.but 64.truly 65.emotional
“not...but...”

My mother once told me, “You sang before you could speak.” I don’t know if that’s true, but for as long as I can remember, I’ve loved lifting my voice in high melodies (旋律). I joined my first choir when I was five and immediately fell in love with music. As a shy child, second row in the choir was perfect for me. I could experience the excitement of singing for an audience without having to be the center of attention.
When I entered junior high, I eagerly joined the choir. Our choir director, Mrs. McKee, was incredibly supportive of me, musically and personally. She knew I liked hiding in the group, so her question caught me off guard. “Allison, how would you like to sing a solo (独唱) in the Christmas concert?” My stomach tightened into a knot. “Um, do you mean a verse (节) with the choir?” “No, I’d love for you to sing a whole song by yourself. You can pick the song. I’ll play the piano for you.”
My mind started to swim. Unknown to anyone, I had long dreamed of singing a solo! I fantasized about a version of me who was brave enough to sing for crowds of people, sharing my song around the world. But I wasn’t that person yet. I was still the person who wanted to hide in the second row.
I mentioned Mrs. McKee’s offer to my parents. They were thrilled! They loved music and would do anything to encourage my self-confidence. With their support, I accepted Mrs. McKee’s offer. I started to prepare: learning the song, memorizing the words, and practicing with Mrs. McKee on the piano.

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The big day finally arrived. My hands shook violently as I stepped onto the stage. Staring at the dark crowd below, my mind went blank for a few seconds. Suddenly I spotted my parents’ encouraging smiles, and Mrs. McKee’s gentle piano notes began. I took a deep breath and slowly started to sing, losing myself in the song I had practiced hundreds of times.
As the audience cheered for my solo, I glanced at Mrs. McKee at the piano. She wore a bright proud smile and nodded gently at me. Warm excitement flooded through me instead of the old nervousness. When I walked off the stage, I knew I had stepped out of my comfort zone. This solo not only won me applause, but also gave me the courage to show my true self to the world.

A.A higher academic degree. B.A firm decision to study medicine.
C.A reputation for treating migraines. D.An interest in Chinese medicine.
27.Which of the following best describes the author as a TCM practitioner?
A.Caring but cautious. B.Attentive and considerate.

It is improper to regard literature as nothing more than a way to kill time. Its value lies in polishing people’s inner world, shaping their way of thinking, and helping them keep a clear mind in the chaos of the noisy flow of modern information.
32.What is the author’s major concern?
A.Fast entertainment is changing people’s spare time.
B.People ignore the long-term value of literary reading.
C.Online opinions limit people’s independent thinking.
D.Modern readers lose interest in short online entertainment.
33.How does literary reading promote people’s inner growth?
A.By improving people’s inner feelings and views of life.
B.By helping readers form independent judgments quickly.
C.By freeing people from various real-life limitations.
D.By offering different new ways to solve personal troubles.
34.Why can classic literary works attract modern readers?
A.They exactly record real historical events.
B.They provide fixed views on human nature.
C.They completely set people free from modern noise.
D.They carry everlasting human feelings and puzzles.
35.What is the author’s attitude towards people’s wrong idea against literature?
A.Fully understanding.
B.Strongly disapproving.
C.Completely confused.
D.Slightly doubtful.
