When my family moved to America in 2010 from a small village in Guangdong, China, we brought with us not only our luggage, but also our village rules, customs and culture. One of the rules is that young people should always respect old people. Unluckily, this rule led to my very first embarrassment (难堪) in the United States.
I had a part-time job as a waiter in a Chinese restaurant. One day, when I was serving food to a middle-aged couple, the wife asked me why the food was served so quickly. I told her that I had made sure they got their food quickly because I always respect old people. As soon as I said that, they showed great displeasure. My manager, who happened to hear what I said, took me aside and gave me a long lecture about how sensitive (敏感的) Americans are and how they dislike the description of being “old”. I then walked back to the table and apologized to the couple. After the couple heard my explanation and realized that the problem was caused by cultural differences, they laughed.
In my village in China, people are proud of being old because old age means having rich knowledge and experience. Young people always respect old people because they can learn from them. However, in the United States, people think “growing old” is a problem since it shows that a person is going to retire or that his health is failing. So many people try to keep themselves from aging by doing exercises or jogging, and some women put on makeup, hoping to look young.
When I told the couple in the restaurant that I respect old people, they got angry because I made them feel they were old. Clearly, I had said something they didn’t want to hear. After that, I changed the way I had been with old people. It is not that I don’t respect them but that I no longer express it the Chinese way.
66.The writer served the couple their food so quickly because ________.
A.the manager asked him to do so B.he respected old people
C.the couple wanted him to do so D.he wanted more pay
67.When the writer treated the couple as old people, they became ________.
A.nervous B.sensitive C.unhappy D.excited
68.In the writer’s hometown, ________.
A.people are proud of being old
B.people dislike being treated as the old
C.many people have been to America
D.old people are interested in doing exercises
69.After this experience, the writer ________.
A.lost his job in the restaurant B.made friends with the couple
C.no longer respected the old D.learned more about American culture
70.According to the passage, which of the following is TRUE?
A.The more the writer explained, the angrier the couple got.
B.The writer began to dislike the old after this experience.
C.The manager went to the table and apologized to the couple.
D.Americans and Chinese have different ideas about “being old”.

You may have a house robot that can do housework for you. But is it so smart? Meet Laura, a robot in the National Library in Madrid, Spain, copying out the old books and writings in its collection. See Aurora, a headless dog-sized robot used to keep birds and other animals away at an Alaskan airport. Watch another 1.8 meter-tall legless robot called EveR6, waving its arms to guide musicians through a performance.
Those robots above require artificial intelligence (AI). AI is a computer system that can understand languages, make decisions and solve problems. AI can be taught skills by using a process called machine learning. Humans give AI information such as books, photos or videos to train it.
AI has become part of daily life. For example, when you watch TV, AI is watching you. It’ll know what your favorite is and suggest similar ones. In hospitals, AI is very good at suggesting treatments and can even invent new medicines. In cities, AI is used to watch out for cars that make black smoke. It works together with the police and transportation teams to stop them and keep the air clean. AI can help us fight climate change by finding clever ways to reduce energy use.
Some people worry that AI will take away a large number of jobs and also fear that AI could develop out of our control and bring danger to humans. However, AI is expected to be a more powerful production tool that will help humans achieve more in less time. It is believed that AI might even find a way to solve the problems of our energy needs completely. Anyway, there is still a long journey for humans and AI.

Yang Jun’ao, a 16-year-old student from Nanxian County, Hunan Province, invented a “lotus root harvesting robot (采藕机器人)”.
“I got the idea when I saw my grandmother harvesting lotus roots,” Yang said. His grandmother needed to work very hard under the hot sun and sometimes would badly hurt her fingers when using her harvesting tools.
To make things easier for his grandmother, Yang thought of creating a machine that could automatically (自动地) harvest lotus roots. With the help of his teacher, Yang spent nearly a year building the model of the robot.
The robot moves on its own through the muddy field. It uses image recognition (图像识别) to find roots by looking at the color of the lotus leaves. The machine’s arm then cuts the mature (成熟的) lotus roots.
When Yang showed the machine to his grandmother, she was happy and gave some useful suggestions for improvement. She suggested using the audio player to show the robot’s location in dense (稠密的) lotus leaves. “My grandmother’s suggestion reminded me that any invention must have true value.” said Yang.
Although Yang thought he still needed to make improvements, like finding cheaper ways to make the machines, his spirit was praised by many people.

71.What can Laura do according to the passage?
A.Suggest treatments in hospitals. B.Keep birds away at an airport.
C.Guide musicians through a performance. D.Copy out old books and writings in the library.
72.How does AI learn skills?
A.By watching humans do tasks. B.By learning human-given information.
C.By communicating with other robots. D.By itself without any outside help.
73.What is the main idea of Paragraph 3?
A.AI will be developed rapidly. B.Humans depend too much on AI.
C.Humans wonder if AI could think. D.AI has made its way into daily life.
74.In the future, AI is expected to be able to ________.
A.suggest TV programs B.cut down food waste
C.invent new medicines D.help produce enough energy
75.What’s the author’s attitude towards AI?
A.Totally positive. B.Totally negative.
C.Objective. D.Unconcerned.

Earlier this year, students from a school in Zhejiang Province won many prizes at the 12th BeiDou-Cup China Adolescents Science and Technology Invention Contest (BD-CASTIC “北斗杯”中国青少年科技创新大赛).
BD-CASTIC was started in 2010 by the Chinese government. The competition is held to encourage students to learn more about navigation (导航) technology. Students from Shaoxing No. 1 High School took home nine awards, including two first-place prizes, four second-place prizes and three third-place prizes.
One of the first-place prizes went to a smart system for safe driving built by Qian Weicheng and his team. “As more cars run on the road, the number of accidents has increased. Things will be worse if more driverless cars are allowed on the road in the future,” Qian said, “So we wanted to develop a system to lower the risks.” It can check real-time safety distance, watch over the temperature inside the car and look for other problems such as drunk driving.
Zhang Yantao and his team invented a smart robot to help stop the spread of flu. The robot can carry out tasks such as taking people’s temperature and giving out medicine so that doctors and patients can avoid face-to-face communication. The team won the second prize for their invention.
Both of their inventions are based on BeiDou Navigation System (BDS). To complete their inventions, they needed to learn the knowledge of BDS, which they got from their “BeiDou class”. Right now, the class is the only one set up in the middle school around the country to get more talents for the future development of BeiDou science and technology. Over 170 students have joined the program. “We hope the program will develop students’ creative spirit by pointing out and solving problems,” said Zhou Wenlong, the program leader.

请根据以下短文内容,回答短文后面的问题,答题回答词数不得超过10个单词。
His teacher once spoke highly of Yang, “He is a boy who always thinks creatively. Whenever he comes across problems in life, he always works hard to solve them.”
