Introduction:
Ants are small insects. They live in groups and work together. In this experiment, we want to find out what kind of food ants prefer. Do they like sweet food or salty food more?

Steps:
● Place the ants in a big box.

● Write down what we see for three days.
Results:
Day 1: The ants go to the sugar first, then the bread. They do not go near the salt.
Day 2: The ants go to the sugar first, then the bread. They still stay away from the salt.

In many dry mountain areas around the world, getting clean drinking water is a big problem for local people. But a simple way called fog collecting systems can help solve this problem. It allows people to collect clean water directly from fog in the air.
Fog has many small water drops. Fog collecting systems usually use large nets with special cloth to catch these water drops. People put the nets on mountain tops and fog often passes through there. When fog goes through the nets, the water drops stick to the nets’ surface. Then the drops come together, become heavier, and finally flow down along the nets into a place to collect water.
▲ . After people set up the nets, they can work for many years with only a little repair work. It is also good for the environment because it uses no electricity and causes no pollution.
In some villages in the Andes Mountains, local people have used fog collecting systems for many years. Each large net can collect around 200 liters (升) of water a day and this is enough for several families to use. The collected water is clean and people can drink directly after simple filtration (过滤).
Scientists are now improving the cloth of the nets to collect more water. They believe fog collecting systems will help more people in dry areas solve their water problems in the future.

Last summer, my family and I went on a road trip across the west of our country. My father rented (租) a small car, and we only took some basic food and a paper map. He turned his phone and said, “Let’s just depend on the map and see where to go.”

I started to worry at the , but my mother kept calm. She looked at the map carefully and a sign of a small village.
We walked for nearly three hours in the hot sun. I felt less than ever before, and my legs were shaking. we saw smoke rising from the top of the houses. An old man invited us into his home and passed us water and food. He also helped to repair our car with his basic . When I tried to give some money to him, he shook his head and said, “Money can’t buy everything. We are travellers on this earth.”
Before out for home, we accepted a meaningful gift from the old man. That gift meant a lot to me. I realize that the best part of travel is not the places we see, the kind people we meet along the way. I’ll never forget the help from that kind old man.
