B I teach biology at the University of Washington, and I've lost count of how many times students come to me with textbooks highlighted in four different colors. "I can tell you've done a lot of work," I say. "You really want to succeed." Then I have to tell them the hard truth: any more time spent on this after the first time was a waste. They're shocked. "How is that possible?" Students have been trained for years to keep reading and rereading, to mark every page until it glows But research on the testing effect shows that people learn more by testing themselves than by rereading. The idea is simple: read a little, then test yourself. The problem is that many students don't know how to study this way. So I model it in class. Every five minutes I throw out a question on the material we have just talked about, and I can see them start to look through their notes. I say, "Stop. Do not look at your notes. Take a minute to think about it yourself." I tell them our brains are like a forest, and your memory is in there somewhere. You're here, and the memory is over there. The more times you make a path to that memory, the better the path is, so that the next time you need the memory, it's going to be easier to find it. But as soon as you get your notes out, you have short-circuited the path. You are not exploring for the path anymore, someone has told you the way. At other times, I pose a question and have students write three possible answers on the board. They vote by raising fingers, then find someone with a different answer and figure out who is correct. This transforms how they see their own learning. When students trip over an exam question, they'll commonly accuse the test of containing trick questions. But now they come to me after a disappointing exam and say, "I have the illusion (错觉) of knowing. How do I get better?" 24.Why are the students shocked by the author's comment on their textbooks? A. They consider the teacher too critical. B. They find their study method questioned. C. They regard reading as effective learning. D. They view highlighting as a waste of time. 25.What problem do many students face? A. They depend on frequent tests. B. They lack self-testing skills. C. They spend little time in reading. D. They object to page marking. 26.What does the author mean by comparing the brain to a forest? A. Memory disappears without regular use. B. Memories exist in fixed locations. C. Memory training means making paths. D. Note consultation helps recall. 27.What do students' words imply in paragraph 4? A. They are disappointed at the exam result. B. They regret not testing themselves earlier. C. They prefer solving problems independently. D. They are ready to improve their learning methods. C People in the US throw away at least 17 million tons of textiles (纺织品) every year—about 100 pounds of clothing per person. At the same time, unsold blouses, jackets, and other fashion- industry leftovers end up in landfills (垃圾填埋场) such as the one in Chile's Atacama Desert, so vast as to be visible from space. Many of these items are fast fashion—made quickly, sold cheaply, and in style for too short a time because the industry relies on novelty to keep consumers buying. Every year the global fashion industry gives off up to 10 percent of the world's greenhouse gas. Growing cotton involves large quantities of harmful chemicals, and coloring clothes pollutes rivers with dangerous waste. Man-made materials like nylon are made with fossil (化石) fuels and release microfibers with every wash. To address these problems, it's time to build a recycling system in fashion — one that reuses clothes, cloth and threads, recycles whenever possible and encourages producers and sellers to choose textiles and processes that minimize the use of raw resources such as cotton. As awareness increases, many people are donating to or buying from second-hand stores or, when they shop new, looking for "certified organic" labels. Consumers should be aware that they can authorities and brands to take action by deciding which brands to support. Under such pressure, many companies are trying to figure out how to remain profitable while producing less and ensuring that what they do make does less harm to people and the planet. Consumers and companies alone can't solve such a vast ecological and climate problem, however. Last year California rolled out an extended producer responsibility (EPR) law for textiles, which requires brands with more than $ 1 million in global sales to pay for reuse, repair or recycling of their products. "We are watching closely," says Rachel Van Metre Kibbe, founder and CEO of advisory firm Circular Services Group. "What I have in mind is a recycling economy, which begins with designing products for lasting use rather than quick replacement." 28.Why do people throw away so many clothes each year? A. Many items are cheaply sold. B. Fashion trends change quickly. C. Most clothes are poorly made. D. People tend to follow the crowd. 29.What does the fashion recycling system advocate doing? A. Cutting the share of fast fashion. B. Making better use of existing resources. C. Lowering prices for used clothes. D. Limiting the need for processed products. 30.What does the underlined word "prod" in paragraph 4 mean? A. Urge. B. Support. C. Follow. D. Accept. 31.What does Rachel value in products? A. Low costs. B. Attractive designs. C. Long-term use. D. Regular replacement. D People's views are becoming increasingly polarized, with social bubbles (茧房) deepening existing beliefs and widening opinion gaps. This polarization doesn't just apply to political opinions; it also touches on factual topics, from climate change to disease prevention. According to a recent study, people use search engines in ways that confirm their existing beliefs, potentially expanding polarization. A simple adjustment to search algorithms (算法), the researchers propose, could help deliver a broader range of perspectives. Online participants were asked to rate their beliefs on six topics, such as nuclear energy and the health effects of caffeine. They then chose search terms to learn more about each topic. The researchers rated the terms' scope (范围) and found that between 9 and 34 percent were "narrow". For example, when researching the health effects of caffeine, one participant used "caffeine negative effects" while others used "benefits of caffeine". These narrow terms tended to match participants' existing beliefs, and generally fewer than 10 percent did this knowingly. "Search algorithms are designed to give the most relevant answers for whatever we type, which ends up strengthening what we already thought," says Eugina Leung from Tulane University, who led the study. Similar results appeared when participants used ChatGPT. When researchers randomly assigned participants to view different results, they found that the results affected people's opinions and even behavior. For example, participants who saw results about "caffeine (咖啡因) health benefits", rather than "risks", were more likely to choose a caffeinated drink afterward. Pointing out biases in the search terms had only a small effect on people's final opinions. However, changing the search algorithm to provide broader results helped reduce the effects of narrow searches. "People are able to bring in different perspectives when they're exposed to them, which is encouraging," Leung says. The researchers recommend applying such strategies, possibly as "search broadly" buttons. "This would be really helpful," Leung says, but whether it will ever happen "is hard to predict." 32.What phenomenon does the author point out in paragraph 1? A. Search engines create social bubbles. B. Public debates on factual topics become heated. C. Opinions are increasingly divided on political issues. D. Search habits are unknowingly expanding opinion gaps. 33.What is the feature of "narrow" search terms? A. They involve broader ideas. B. They follow social trends. C. They match popular beliefs. D. They strengthen established views. 34.What can we learn from the example given in paragraph 3? A. Caffeine benefits people's health. B. ChatGPT provides objective information. C. Search results may influence users' choices. D. Online searches reflect personal interests. 35.What is the researchers' suggestion about? A. Approaches to broadening search results. B. Choice of new research methods. C. Techniques for identifying search biases. D. Necessity to involve more participants. Steinway & Sons is widely regarded as the king of pianos across the world. Many famous pianists claim that playing a Steinway is just like talking with a living soul. That is why its pianos always carry warmth and touching human feelings that machine-made ones can never match. Founded in New York in 1853, Steinway has long been viewed as the world's top piano maker. It runs two major factories in Astoria, New York and Hamburg, Germany. 37 More than 250 skilled craftspeople work at its New York factory. It takes nearly a whole year to finish one piano, which is made up of over 12,000 parts in total. 38 They devote themselves to their work with great passion and patience. Most of them have a deep understanding of music and art, instead of simply finishing a daily job. It is common for Steinway workers to stay in the company for 25, 40 or even 50 years. Steinway pianos are not only musical instruments but also bring comfort to people in hard times. During World War, around 3,000 specially designed upright pianos were parachuted (空投) to soldiers abroad. 39 The music reminded them of home, united them and greatly lifted their spirits in the war. Music is much more than a simple entertainment or a luxury. It is a basic need of human survival. It allows people to express inner feelings when words fail them. 40 With steady craftsmanship and deep human care, Steinway has perfectly interpreted the true meaning of music. A. It appeals to top pianists of many styles. B. Modern technology has changed piano production. C. Its lasting charm lies in sticking to hand-made craftsmanship. D. The two factories strictly follow traditional making standards. E. They would gather around the pianos, singing familiar folk songs. F. He loved exploring the woods around the village more than anything, always looking for new paths, interesting stones, or hidden spots. Thomas met Sebastian one day during his exploration. He was walking through the woods when he saw a boy sitting on a fallen tree by the stream. It was Sebastian, who was deeply absorbed in a book—he loved reading so much that he often borrowed books from the village library and lost himself in the wonderful stories inside. Thomas greeted him warmly, and they soon got to know each other. The stream side became their favorite meeting place, where Thomas would take Sebastian to explore new parts of the woods, and Sebastian would sometimes read interesting stories to Thomas. Day by day, their friendship grew, and they even built a secret hideout in a tree trunk, making it their little adventure base. QQ:771515126 However, before the annual village fair, a serious situation arose when Sebastian was informed by the kind village librarian who had always encouraged his reading that the library's rare and valuable books would be sold unless enough money could be raised during the fair. Hearing this, Sebastian felt extremely worried, because those books had accompanied him through many happy days. Thomas had been excitedly preparing for the kite-flying competition for months. He had made his kite carefully and dreamed of winning first prize, which meant a lot to him. As it happened, the village was alive with excitement on the big day. Colourful stands lined the streets, music filled the air, and everyone was in high spirits. Thomas watched the beautiful kites flying high in the blue sky, but he also saw Sebastian working hard at the donation stand, enthusiastically asking for support for the library. His eyes moved between the colorful kites floating in the skies and the modest donation stand where Sebastian obviously needed help. Thomas was torn, caught between his personal desire and the support for his friend. ______ _______________________________________▲________________________________________ _______________________________________________▲_________________________________________________ _______________________________________________▲______________________________________ When the day ended, the librarian announced that they had saved the books. _____ _______________________________________▲________________________________________ _______________________________________________▲_________________________________________________ _______________________________________________▲______________________________________ 高二英语参考答案 第一部分 听力(共20小题;每小题1.5分,满分30分) 1-5 CBABA 6-10 CBABB 11-15 ABACC 16-20 CAABC 第二部分 阅读(共两节,满分50分) 第一节(共15小题;每小题2.5分,满分37.5分) 21-23 CDA 24-27 BBCD 28-31 BBAC 32-35 DDCA 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 36-40 CDFEG 第三部分 语言知识运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 41-45 BBBDC 46-50 ACBDC 51-55 DDACA 第二节(共10小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 56.a 57. to transform 58. lying 59. were drawn/had been drawn 60. equipped 57.was 62. seasonal 63. that 64. and 65. industries 第四部分 写作(共两节,满分40分) 第一节(满分15分) Possible version: Dear Tom, Learning that you are a passionate rope skipper, I'm writing to invite you to participate in the "One-Minute Rope Skipping Challenge" being held for Senior Two students in our school. Yours, Li Hua 第二节(满分25分) Possible version: Thomas was torn, caught between his personal desire and the support for his friend. The kite string bit into his palms as his eyes kept drifting back to Sebastian's tired face at the donation stand. He thought of their secret hideout, the stories that had opened worlds to him, and the laughter echoing in the woods. Letting the string slip, Thomas walked over and joined Sebastian's group. With his usual energy, he rallied the villagers, telling them how important the library's books were to Sebastian and the whole village. The stand grew alive, coins clinking into the box. When the day ended, the librarian announced that they had saved the books. Sebastian turned to Thomas, grateful tears brimming, and grasped his hand in silence. Thomas smiled, looking past the empty sky where his kite would have soared. They stood arm in arm, watching the last ray of sunset paint the sky golden. The prize Thomas had abandoned was nothing compared to what they had preserved. The books they saved were treasures that outlasted time and carried their friendship forward. Text 1 W: The biology test is around the corner, but I haven't remembered all the terms yet. M: Me neither. Shall we go to the library this afternoon and work on it together? W: Sounds good. I'll bring my math homework too, in case we finish early. M: Alright. See you then. Text 2 M: The meeting was scheduled for 2 p.m., but it's got moved to 3 p.m. W: OK. Would you get there right on time? M: I'll arrive fifteen minutes ahead to get prepared. W: OK. Text 3 W: The traffic outside is heavy all day long. It's really hard to stand the noise. M: I feel the same. And the building is too old. W: I've checked several flats in the suburbs. They are quiet and with plenty of sunshine. M: Great! We can go to see them this weekend. Text 4 M: It's unbearably hot today with strong sunlight. I wish it could be windy tomorrow. W: I hope so. But that's typical during this time. The weather report says it would be the same tomorrow. Text 5 W: You've been sitting there for hours. Are you bored yet? M: No. I love this show. And I'm sitting far enough, Mom. W: That's not the point. It's not good for your eyes if you watch TV for too long. Text 6 M: Hi, I'd like two tickets for the 7 p.m. show of "Ocean Adventure". W: Let me check. The 7 p.m. is almost sold out. I only have seats in the front row left. M: Oh, that's too close to the screen. What about the 9 p.m. show? W: Plenty of seats for that one. Regular tickets are $12 each, or if you're a student, it's $9 with an ID. M: I'm a student. Here's my ID. So that's $18 total? W: Actually, there's a weekend extra fee of $2 per ticket. So it'll be $11 each for you, $22 total. M: Okay, that's fine. I'll take two for the 9 p.m. Text 7 M: Good evening, Mrs. Jones. I'm from room service. The manager sends you roses and wishes for your wedding anniversary. W: Thank you! It's so considerate of him to take care of these details. We are pleased with our room and service. M: Glad to hear that. Can I help you with anything else? W: Yes. We'd like to order breakfast in our room tomorrow morning. M: We have Chinese, French and American breakfasts. Which do you prefer? W: The American one, please. Please send it at 8 o'clock. M: No problem. I'll note it down and forward the order to the kitchen. W: Thanks a lot. M: You're welcome. Text 8 W: Hi, Jack! Do you know our school has opened a mental health station recently? M: Really? I didn't notice that. What's it for? W: It's to help us handle pressure from exams and relationships—many of us are actually stressed out lately. M: That's a good idea! Do they have professional teachers there? W: Sure, and they offer one-to-one talk. Sometimes, they will invite experts to give lectures on stress management. For students with serious troubles, they will help them contact doctors at the school hospital. M: That's great. How can we get help? W: You can either walk in directly or call them at 63529871 to make an appointment. It's open from 4:00 to 6:00 every weekday afternoon. M: Thank you for telling me so much. I think it will be a warm place for all of us. W: I hope so. I just want it to really help us, not just be for show. Text 9 M: I see more new energy cars around our city now. W: Definitely! But they are not very common in some foreign countries because people there still have doubts on the technology and charging stations are hard to find. M: That makes sense. New energy vehicles need time to be accepted. W: Luckily, our country has set up charging stations everywhere early. M: I hope more countries can follow suit. We need a world with less pollution from vehicles. W: Me too. I take the subway or walk to work every day; it's convenient and eco-friendly. M: That's nice. I usually drive here myself, so I often get stuck in busy traffic. W: Maybe you can try public transport too. Well, I have to type these meeting notes right now. M: See you later. QQ:771515126 Text 10 Good morning, everyone. Today I'm going to talk about a simple but effective skill to make your campus life more organized. As you may find, building good habits is often harder than breaking bad ones. Many of you may fail because you depend too much on motivation, which does not last long. However, some successful people use a useful way called "habit stacking", which means connecting a new habit you want to build with a previous one. The rule is easy: "After I finish my usual habit, I will try the new." For example, if you want to read more but have no time, you can read during your morning coffee routine. In time, the two activities will become one simple plan. "Habit stacking" works because our brains like easy patterns. It makes starting new actions easier. You do not need strong willpower, and you will not forget to do it. To make it work, remember to start very small. Do not try big changes at first. Then, be patient with yourself. If you miss a day, just get back on track. The goal is progress, not being perfect. 定位到“Industry Leadership”部分,描述包括“shows thousands of new products, technologies and business ideas, many of which will make their first appearance in China or even the world”,即展示大量首发的新产品、新技术和新理念。 A项“To introduce an industry event”(介绍一个行业活动)正确。 文章开头,学生们带着用四种颜色划满重点的课本来见作者,期待认可,但作者却说“any more time spent on this after the first time was a waste”。 定位到第二段最后两句:“research on the testing effect shows that people learn more by testing themselves than by rereading... The problem is that many students don't know how to study this way.” 学生在考试失利后不再像以前那样指责题目有陷阱,而是对作者说:“I have the illusion of knowing. How do I get better?”(我有‘知道’的错觉。 D项“They are ready to improve their learning methods”(他们准备好改进学习方法了)是合理的推断。 定位到第一段最后一句:“Many of these items are fast fashion — made quickly, sold cheaply, and in style for too short a time because the industry relies on novelty to keep consumers buying.” 定位到第三段:“it's time to build a recycling system in fashion — one that reuses clothes, cloth and threads, recycles whenever possible and encourages producers and sellers to choose textiles and processes that minimize the use of raw resources such as cotton.” 划线句为:“Consumers should be aware that they can ______ authorities and brands to take action by deciding which brands to support.”结合后文“Under such pressure, many companies are trying to figure out how to remain profitable while producing less...”,可知消费者的选择行为对企业和当局产生了“压力”,促使他们采取行动。 定位到最后一段Rachel的话:“What I have in mind is a recycling economy, which begins with designing products for lasting use rather than quick replacement.” D项“Search habits are unknowingly expanding opinion gaps”准确概括了这一现象。 定位到第二段:“These narrow terms tended to match participants' existing beliefs...” 这个例子是为了证明前一句的观点:“the results affected people's opinions and even behavior”。 研究者发现“changing the search algorithm to provide broader results helped reduce the effects of narrow searches”,并建议应用此类策略,比如设置“search broadly”按钮。 A项“Approaches to broadening search results”(拓宽搜索结果的方法)正确。 36. C 因果 空前说“playing a Steinway is just like talking with a living soul”,空后说“That is why its pianos always carry warmth and touching human feelings that machine-made ones can never match”。 C项“Its lasting charm lies in sticking to hand-made craftsmanship”(其持久的魅力在于坚持手工制作工艺)给出了核心原因(手工 vs 机器),与后文构成完美的因果逻辑。 37. D项“The two factories strictly follow traditional making standards”(两家工厂严格遵守传统制作标准)既承接了“two factories”,又用“traditional making standards”引出后文关于工匠数量、制作时长等细节,逻辑连贯。 38. F项“Craftsmen at Steinway are the secret behind its long-term success”(施坦威的工匠是其长期成功的秘诀)是完美的主题句,统领全段。 39. E项“They would gather around the pianos, singing familiar folk songs”(他们会围在钢琴旁,唱着熟悉的民歌)生动地描绘了场景,且“singing familiar folk songs”与后文“reminded them of home”直接呼应。 G项“It also serves as a special way for humans to understand life and the world”(它也是人类理解生活和世界的一种特殊方式)在层次上比“表达情感”更进一步,与前后文共同构成“表达情感→理解世界→诠释真谛”的递进逻辑,完美收尾。 forgive(原谅)、avoid(避免)、resist(抵抗)均不符合此处语义。 criticize(批评)、laugh(笑)、whisper(低语)均不符合情绪强度。 43. declined(婉拒)符合上下文。bothered(打扰)、managed(设法)、decided(决定)均不符合。 44. happy(高兴)、guilty(内疚的)、frightened(害怕的)均不符合。 45. grabbed(一把抓起)带有冲动、愤怒的意味,符合当时的气氛。wrapped(包裹)、weighed(称重)、collected(收集)均不合适。 46. rested(休息)、bounced(弹跳)、remained(留下)均不如sat地道。 47. 的固定搭配是“a note that read...”。conveyed(传达)、printed(打印)、showed(显示)均不符合此惯用表达。 48. expressing(表达)最贴切。sharing(分享)、creating(创造)、pursuing(追求)均不够准确。 49. heart(心)指情感的核心。soul(灵魂)、mind(思想、意志)、brain(大脑)中,heart最符合“用心去爱”的语境。 label(标签)、note(便条)、letter(信)均与后文描述不符。 51. carefully(精心地)与后文“She looked pretty, lively and completely carefree”形成对照,突显母亲年轻时与现在的反差。simply(简单地)、quickly(快速地)、roughly(粗糙地)均不符合。 52. different from(与…… free from(免于)、distant from(远离)、separate from(分离)均不符合。 53. departed(离开)、hurried(匆忙)、shifted(转移)均不如rose准确。 54. routine(日常事务、常规)最合适。success(成功)、honour(荣誉)、business(生意/事情)均不够贴切。 55. turn down(拒绝)、bring out(使显现)、beat down(打倒)均不符合。 56. a;57. to transform;58. lying;59. were drawn / had been drawn;60. Equipped 61. was;62. seasonal;63. that/which;64. and;65. industries 56. a冠词。 固定搭配set out to do sth. a large area of waste与lie(位于)之间是主动关系,且作后置定语修饰waste,故用现在分词lying。 59. were drawn / had been drawn时态与语态。 根据“As the environment improved, tourists... began to arrive”,主句用一般过去时,从句动作发生在主句之前,可用一般过去时的被动were drawn,也可用过去完成时的被动had been drawn强调“先被吸引然后才开始到来”。 修饰名词moves(迁徙),需用形容词seasonal(季节性的),意为“季节性迁徙”。 63. that/which定语从句关系词。 Hello. international friends club, can I help you? As you may find, building good habits is often harder than breaking bad ones. Many of you may fail because you depend too much on motivation, which does not last long. However, some successful people use a useful way called habit stacking, which means connecting a new habit you want to build with a previous one. The rule is easy. After I finished my usual habit, I will try the new, for example, if you want to read more, but have no time, you can read during your morning coffee routine. In time, the two activities will become one simple plan. Habit stacking works because our brains like easy patterns. IT makes starting new actions easier. You do not need strong willpower, and you will not forget to do IT to make IT work, remember to start very small, do not try big changes at first, then be patient with yourself. If you miss a day, just get back on track. The goal is progress, not being perfect. Good morning, everyone.
