Availa Johnson, 9, started the The EcoCreators Design Club in 2024, as a solution to the plastic pollution problem. Kids learn about ocean protection and other science topics. And they get wildly inventive, turning an unlikely material — plastic waste — into one-of-a-kind clothes.
Oceans cover more than 70% of Earth’s surface. They’re home to sea animals, from 100-foot-long blue whales to inch-long seahorses. But oceans are littered with plastic rubbish, some of which are too small to be seen. Availa has seen plastic waste on Florida beaches. “It hurts my heart,” she says. “Usually, I just pick up all the trash.” But sometimes, she adds, “I think the plastic bags are jellyfish (水母).” Mistaken for food, plastic bags can make sea animals sick or even kill them.
Kids in the EcoCreators club learn how to reduce plastic waste, such as reusing water bottles and shopping bags. “I just want to teach people that we save materials,” Availa says. “We can make them into something new.”
In 2025, Action for Nature honored Availa as an International Young Eco-Hero Award winner. The nonprofit group called her “a true inventor with a talent for fashion and a heart for the planet.”
Availa now wants to expand her ocean protection effort. “I am starting an art class soon and planning on promoting my plastic fashion idea,” the fourth grader says. “I’m gonna tell them, right when I get there.” “She’s bold,” says Availa’s mom, Rachel Cimmino. “When she sees a need, she takes action without fear, and makes it her duty.” “I just like helping the world,” Availa says. By combining (结合) her talent for art and fashion with her love for ocean animals, she’s doing her part to protect the planet.
24. What is The EcoCreators Design Club’s solution to plastic pollution?
A. Fashion. B. Education. C. Technology. D. Entertainment.
25. What inspired Availa Johnson to start the club?
A.Her pity for the poor. B. Her desire for knowledge.
C. Her talent for designing. D. Her concern for ocean life.
26. Why did Action for Nature give Availa the award?
A. She teaches people to save materials.
B. She started the club at the age of nine.
C. She expands her ocean protection effort.
D. She helps protect nature with creativity.
27. What does the underlined word “bold” in the last paragraph mean?
A. Gifted and skilled. B. Brave and responsible.
C. Generous and helpful. D. Selfless and supportive.

As the UK government starts dealing with the need for a social media ban (禁令) for under-16s, it is clear we may act too late on chatbots (聊天机器人). AI, like social media before, will greatly affect health and society, such as how young people learn and make friends, yet the government is taking a “wait and see” approach.
At a meeting with social media leaders last week, the authority said current rules for children using social media platforms “can’t continue”. It’s high time to act. Australia started a social media ban for under-16s, with France, Spain and others following. Meta and Google were fined $6 million for promoting habit-forming apps harmful to young users’ mental health. Research clearly connects these apps with some mental problems and self-harm, and many doctors and parents have also spoken out in support of the ban.
Even if acting on social media, the government will fall behind on AI chatbots. These bots take advantage of people’s mental weaknesses quickly and badly, causing wrong ideas or great sadness. For example, they can keep chatting with users all day, making it hard to stop using them. Some say controlling AI limits business, but clear rules are needed. Currently, no one in government is responsible for these rules, which must change.
The UK’s Online Safety Act doesn’t include AI, as it only controls human interactions. The government can fix this by making companies take responsibility for bots’ harm. Big companies will fight against it, but Australia’s example shows they will follow clear, fair laws.
The authority must name who is in charge of AI rules. A team with government and industry experts should issue safety rules regularly. These rules can help stop bots from spreading false information or hurting users. Otherwise, digital managers could control bots’ power over millions like pressing a button, risking our mental health. AI is changing how we learn, think, interact, work and spend free time faster than we know. It is important to act now before it is too late, so it must not hurt national governments or personal health.
28. What problem does the author point out in the first paragraph?
A. AI control may fall behind. B. AI’s value is underestimated.
C. Teens’ mental health worsens. D. Social media are harming teens.
29. Why does the author mention countries like Australia?
A. To suggest the ban is ineffective. B. To illustrate they manage AI well.
C. To prove online apps are harmful. D. To show the ban is widely accepted.
30. What do we learn about the UK’s Online Safety Act?
A. It catches up with AI growth. B. It lacks sufficient control over AI.
C. It follows Australia’s example. D. It fails to protect children online.
31. What does the author suggest on AI management?
A. Security guidelines should be required. B. False information should be limited.
C. Public health should be emphasized. D. Chatbots’ power should be ignored.

Poetry and nature writings can be powerful ways for people to connect with the natural world. A new poetry collection coming out this month, titled Dawn Songs: A Birdwatcher’s Field Guide to the Poetics of Migration, features reflections on our relationships with birds. The book happened to come out on the 30th anniversary (周年) of International Migratory Bird Day, which was co-founded in 1993 by Reaser.
“Dawn Songs is more than a book,” said Reaser. “It is a calling together of birds and bird watchers across different habitats and indefinite identities. It is a celebration of what unites us at the edges of nature and human nature. It is, in part, Emily Dickinson’s ‘Hope is the thing with feathers.’”
The poetry collection contains works from 60 writers. Some are well-established in their field, while others “have had fewer opportunities to voice their stories,” Reaser said. “One of our intentions was to make such voices heard, to invite the lesser-known authors onto a stage where they could be better heard.”
The book is divided into four sections: “To Know,” “To Wonder,” “To Lament,” and “To Celebrate.” Each explores the connection between nature and human nature from a different point of view. In “To Know,” poets write about their personal relationships with birds, expressing joy at watching swallows fly or herons hunt. “To Wonder” contains works expressing questions that birds inspire. “To Lament” allows space to mourn species reduction and the deaths of individual birds. The poetry collection ends on an exciting note with “To Celebrate,” which contains joyous odes (颂歌) to the gifts birds give us.
Profits from the book will support ABC’s Fellowship Program, which supports the next generation of bird protectors through scientific research, community activities, and storytelling. Applications are actively sought from individuals from different backgrounds, including those historically without a voice in environmental protections. “We are honored that the editors have chosen to support our program,” said Naamal De Silva from ABC. “Their choice will bring more attention to the program and to current fellows.”
32.What’s the main idea of Reaser’s words in paragraph 2?
A. The book emphasizes harm done to birds.
B. The book honours nature-human connection.
C.The book mainly teaches how to watch birds.
D. The book collects different poems about hope.
33. What is one of the reasons for publishing Dawn Songs?
A. To replace traditional bird-watching guides.
B. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of a festival.
C. To call on bird-watchers to write more poetry.
D. To help unnoticed writers gain more attention.
34. In which section can we feel regret for species loss?
A. “To Know” . B.“ To Wonder”.
C. “ To Lament” D. “To Celebrate”
35. How will the profits from Dawn Songs be used ?
A. To publish more books about birds’ life.
B. To support a program for bird protectors.
C. To build new research centers for bird study.
D. To plan bird-watching events for residents.

A Plan of Action for Success
A good long-term plan is like a clear guide on the way to success. 36 High school and college students can make such a plan to realize their school dreams, which keeps them moving forward in daily school life.
First, write down your core (核心) aim in a short note. 37 You can keep it simple at first and try to develop your full ability later. Besides, your core aim should show your personality and special gifts, so that you can always remember what you really hope to do.
38 These targets act as important marks to help you complete your main plan. You should face your weak points and deal with possible difficulties ahead. You can set active targets, such as planning fixed time for study. At the same time, you need proper rules to cut down useless activities and save time.
Once you have set your targets, you need simple and clear methods to achieve them.
39 You should look at your daily life honestly. If some hobbies or online entertainment waste your time, you need to make proper changes. Small time-wasting things in daily life may slowly stop you from making progress.
Lastly, set small clear tasks and check your progress from time to time. Easy daily tasks are simple to follow, quite different from general long-term targets. Also, your plan should not stay the same all the time. 40 Changing your plan in time can make it more useful and help you keep improving day by day.
A. Setting targets comes right after your core aim.
B. This kind of plan is good for common students.
C. It is not necessary to check your progress regularly.
D. A good plan helps you make full use of your study time.
E. You can change and improve your plan anytime you need.
F. Such methods can help you reach your targets more easily.
G. It is a short written passage about your long-term learning aims.

Let's Build Healthy Drinking Habits
Dear fellow students,
Nowadays, sugary drinks particularly milk tea have gained popularity among us.In fact, excessive
consumption of such beverages poses a potential threat to our health.Rich in sugar and calories, they may
lead to weight gain and even long-term illnesses like diabetes.
Therefore, let's make a change and build healthy drinking habits. We should have sugary drinks in
moderation, rather than relying on them every day.Water or plain milk is always a good choice. If you
want something tasty, try fresh fruit instead.
A healthy body starts with healthy drinks.Join me and say yes to health!
Sincerely yours,
Li Hua

A篇
21.A。 根据文章“Best parts include'部分的第一条“A small group Pregame Tour of Dodger
A项A tour before the game'”是原文的同义转
述。B项错误,因为文中明确说“While Autographs and/.or photos are possible,.they are not ensured'(签
The VIP Tour is not a ticket to the game..Game and
parking tickets must be bought in advance. Each visitor must have a game ticket AND VIP Tour ticket."
VIP Tour
A项错误,文中明确说明“All tours are wheelchair accessible''(轮
24.A。 根据第一段最后一句“And they get wildly inventive, turning an unlikely material
plastic waste一into one-ofa-kind clothes.”
It hurts my heart',
根据第四段,Action for Nature称阿瓦伊拉为a true inventor with a talent for
fashion and a heart for the planet'',即她既有时尚天赋,又有爱护地球的心。
根据最后一段阿瓦伊拉妈妈的话:“When she sees a need,.she takes action without
fear,and makes it her duty.”其中“without fear”对应“brave'”(勇敢的),“makes it her duty”对应

28.答案:A
AL,like social media before, will greatly affect health and society.yet the
government is taking a 'wait and see'approach'”,明确指出政府对AI监管采取观望态度,可能会像之
Australia started a social media ban for under-l6s,with France,Spain and others
The UK's Online Safety Act doesn't include AI,as it only controls human
31.答案:A
A team with government and industry experts should issue safety rules regularly',
32.答案:B
解析:第二段中Reaser说:“It is a celebration of what unites us at the edges of nature and human
nature..”
One of our intentions was to make such voices heard,to invite the
lesser-known authors onto a stage where they could be better heard.”
To Lament'allows space to mourn species reduction and the deaths of individual
Profits from the book will support ABC's Fellowship Program, which supports
the next generation of bird protectors...”

This kind of plan is good for common students'”(这类计划对普通学生很有帮助)是
High
前文提到write down your core aim in a short note”(在便签上写下核心目标),后文补充“You can
keep it simple at first”(一开始可以简单些)。G选项It is a short written passage about your long-tem
learning aims''(它是一段简短的文字,阐述了您的长期学习目标)是对前文core aim in a short note'
38题:答案A
These targets act as important marks'”(这些目标是重
A选项Setting targets comes right after your core aim”(设定目标紧跟核心目标之后)
前文提出you need simple and clear methods to achieve them'(你需要简单清晰的方法来实现目
You should look at your daily life honestly”(你应该诚实地审视日常生活)。F选项
“Such methods can help you reach your targets more easily''(这些方法能帮你更轻松地达成目标)是论
点强化句,用“Such methods''呼应前文的simple and clear methods'”,用“reach your targets more easily'
前文提到your plan should not stay the same all the time”(你的计划不应一成不变),后文强调
“Changing your plan in time can make it more useful''(及时调整计划能让它更有效)。E选项You can
change and improve your plan anytime you need''(你可以随时根据需要调整和完善计划)是承上启下
承接前文:用“change and improve''直接呼应not stay the same all the time'”,强化“计划需动态调
整的观点;
Changing your plan in time提供合理性支撑,说明调整
