Artificial intelligence has become an essential tool for creators, saving time and boosting creativity. Below are four widely used AI services, each excelling in a distinct field.
Midjourney — Image Generation
Midjourney turns words into pictures. It makes detailed and artistic images, great for posters or ideas. New updates help it understand instructions better and create both real-looking and stylish pictures, making it a go-to choice for concept art, marketing graphics, and personal projects.
RunwayML — Video Creation
RunwayML helps make videos. With simple words or clips, it creates full animations. Tools like “Gen-3 Alpha Turbo” speed up short videos, which also removes backgrounds easily, helping beginners edit faster.
ElevenLabs — Voice Synthesis
ElevenLabs changes text into speech. Its voices sound natural and show subtle emotions. It supports dozens of languages, making them ideal for audio-books, e-learning narration, and character dubbing (配音). The platform also offers voice cloning, allowing users to generate consistent vocal identities across projects, so characters will sound the same.
ChatGPT — Novel Writing
OpenAI’s ChatGPT is good at long-form text generation and writing stories. In 2025 it added native image generation and improved contextual awareness, helping writers draft long texts, maintain character consistency, and keep plots clear. Writers use it to plan stories and polish writing, though they still need to check details.
These tools cover pictures, videos, voices, and stories. Using them together helps creators work smarter and dream bigger. If you want to learn more about the usage experiences of the tools, please click HERE.

Hidden beside the crowded Western Market food hall, a brightly-lit vending machine (自动售货机) is turning heads. Instead of snacks or drinks, this one sells something more enriching: books.
Inspired by a European book vending machine and troubled by the struggles of her fellow prize-winning authors, Lauren Woods, an award-winning fiction author herself, launched LitBox. The vending machine serves works by Washington, D.C.-area authors, including those from small presses or ignored by traditional bookstores. For Woods, LitBox is more than a novel idea; it's a passion project designed to make local literature more available and the publishing world more inclusive.
By offering literature from outside the usual commercial pattern, LitBox stands as a living challenge to an industry centering on major publishers. Woods holds that quality doesn't always match mass-market standards, and the sales back her up—readers now choose small-press titles at rates nearly equal to those from major ones. This reader support is especially significant for a city facing cuts in art funding, as LitBox has proven itself an essential grass-roots literary lifeline.“Everyone is telling you that your words and your voice don't matter,” Woods said.“LitBox is my way of saying: Actually, they do.”
LitBox features a variety of selections from poetry and fiction to children's books, all by D.C.-area writers. Noticing passers-by captured by the vending machine throughout the day, Western Market's manager Danielle Fisher says that LitBox fits right into the community-first atmosphere of the space.“The idea that LitBox showcases local authors is really a special touch.”
Woods collected nearly $7,000 to launch the project and is now working to expand it across D.C., especially in neighborhoods without access to small-press books.“I'm so proud to live in this city,” Woods said.“LitBox is my way of sharing my pride in the people I live with and talk to every day.”
With one simple but powerful idea, Woods is helping rewrite the rules of access and visibility in publishing.
24.Why is LitBox a passion project to Woods?
A.It possesses commercial potential.
B.It promotes local literary works.
C.It will help local literature win prizes.
D.It will replace traditional bookstores.
25.What might Woods agree with?
A.Readers avoid major publishers.
B.Market standards define readership.
C.Art funding favors local literature.
D.Small presses have big impacts.
26.What can be inferred about LitBox in paragraph 4?
A.It reflects community services. B.It attracts business investment.
C.It features authors nationwide. D.It receives public recognition.
27.How will Woods develop LitBox in the future?
A.By cooperating with more publishers.
B.By extending its distribution.
C.By raising funds for more authors.
D.By diversifying its book selection.

Two months into my Ph.D., I was on the verge of quitting. My broken English made it hard to keep up with colleagues. At lab meetings, the conversation progressed so quickly that by the time I understood a question, the discussion had already moved on. I once ruined an experiment due to misunderstanding instructions. In a presentation, I embarrassed myself by confusing “gene dilution” with “gene deletion”. I felt out of place, uncertain about my future in science.
I had moved to Hong Kong from the Chinese mainland, excited to become a scientist, but quickly felt overwhelmed. The lab was full of complex instruments I had only ever seen in textbooks, and I had no idea how to use them. Most of all, the language barrier made everything harder. Classes were taught in English, and I struggled to follow the discussions.
After a particularly embarrassing presentation, a senior lab member pulled me aside and said, “You are not here because of your English. You are here because you can think.” His words gave me the strength to continue. I began recording every class and replaying the discussions at night. Slowly, my English improved, and I grew more confident in expressing my ideas.
Years later, after training in Hong Kong, Canada, and the United States, I returned to my hometown to run my own lab. My students all spoke Mandarin, and I assumed they wouldn’t struggle as much as I had because they didn’t face the same language barrier. But I soon realized they too battled doubts about their careers and abilities. I realized my job was to teach them to think critically and solve problems creatively, just as I had been taught. When I saw a student struggling with an experiment, I told her, “You are not here because your experiments always work. You are here because you can think.” Her smile told me she was encouraged by these words.
Today, what I value most in my job is the transformation I see in the students who arrive uncertain, but who leave with enough confidence to challenge me, their professor. For me, helping others cross the bridge is the true reward of scientific life.
28.Why did the author almost quit her Ph.D.according to paragraph 1?
A.She disliked lab discussions. B.She lacked future plans in science.
C.She messed up her presentation. D.She struggled with language barriers.
29.What was the turning point for the author during her Ph.D.studies?
A.Her embarrassing presentation.
B.Returning to her hometown to run a lab.
C.The senior lab member’s supportive remark.
D.Moving to Hong Kong from the Chinese mainland.
30.Which word would best describe the author as a teacher?
A.Inspirational. B.Strict. C.Humorous. D.Authoritative.
31.What does the underlined phrase “cross the bridge” in the last paragraph refer to?
A.Travel between countries for education. B.Change from a student to a professor.
C.Grow from uncertainty to confidence. D.Build bonds between professors and students.
D
There comes a point in many a parent’s life when their sweet child begins to fire back with cutting remarks and sarcastic (嘲讽的) behaviour that’s enough to make parents want to go into hiding for the foreseeable future.
Why are teens mean sometimes? According to Counselling Directory member Ana Hristov, teens still lack emotional control, and the part of the brain that deals with reasoning and planning is still developing. That can result in poor filtering (过滤) and general directness that may come across as rude, touchy and sometimes even mean. On top of all, their nervous system is maturing, meaning teens can experience a heightened sensitivity to stress, which can make them overreact to the situations, with small triggers (诱因) leading to big reactions.
Another factor for the big change around this time has to do with the normal process of slowly distancing from family in favour of peers (同龄人), where they go through great efforts to fit in and avoid being viewed by their peers negatively. Social media and study pressure add an extra layer of complexity to the mix.
It’s OK to let this kind of behaviour slide occasionally to avoid not getting into a constant cycle of negative interactions. But Hristov cautioned that if the rude behaviour is directed at siblings (兄弟姐妹), for instance, parents need to pull up on it immediately as your other children need a visible demonstration of you taking a firm stand, and it must be made clear that such behaviour will not be tolerated in your home.
However, immediate punishment can sometimes make the situation even worse. Similarly, responses rooted in further shaming or sarcasm will increase defensiveness rather than encourage reflection. Hristov’s advice for parents in this position is to respond, rather than react. Try to remain calm, reflecting on what might be underneath the comment. Revisit the conversation when everything’s calm. Lastly, parenting teens is hard work so it’s vital that you take time out to recharge your batteries.
32.What does Ana Hristov say about teenagers’ rude behaviour?
A.It reflects their desire for independence.
B.It is mainly affected by social media.
C.It is a reminder of improper parenting.
D.It results from their immature brain.
33.What can be inferred about teens’ distancing from family?
A.It results from negative peer judgement.
B.It potentially brings about study pressure.
C.It is a natural part of their development.
D.It leads to long-term family breakdown.
34.What is Ana Hristov’s view about teenagers being mean to their siblings?
A.They need to be stopped by their parents immediately.
B.They will eventually grow out of it naturally.
C.They may be trying to fit in with their peers.
D.They are likely to stick to their firm stand.
35.What is Ana Hristov’s advice about parenting teenagers?
A.It ought to be strictly disciplined.
B.It requires empathy and self-care.
C.It involves always maintaining distance.
D.It demands constant negative interactions.

When you spend time with close friends, how do you feel? You may feel like you belong. According to the Oxford dictionary, belonging is defined as a “deep sense of acceptance, inclusion, and identification within a group, place, or context.” 36
Since the beginning of human evolution, people have connected with others in order to survive. This desire to form and grow relationships is rooted in the human brain. 37 In 1943, Abraham Maslow was the first psychologist to write about belonging as a human need. His theory, the Hierarchy (等级) of Needs, states that humans must acquire their basic needs, such as physiological (生理上的) needs and needs related to safety, before they can begin fulfilling other higher, more complex needs, like belonging or developing self-esteem.
Another groundbreaking research about belonging emerged in 1995. Mark Leary and Roy Baumeister found that humans have a universal drive to belong, which motivates their thoughts and actions. In fact, this drive is so important that they argued it was a fundamental human need-not a secondary need in a hierarchy. Their later research explored the connection between self-esteem and belonging. According to their research, self-esteem is not just about how people feel about themselves internally. 38
Although feeling connected to people is important in many settings, it becomes especially critical in schools. A 2020 research analysis found that students who do not feel a sense of belonging at school are often searching for threats in their environment that signal whether they are welcome or not. 39 This, in turn, can cause poorer academic performance. It can also discourage students from forming deeper relationships. So, a student’s feeling of belonging is vital for their learning.
40 Researchers will continue to analyze how personality, culture, and even social media shape how connected we feel to others. With this knowledge, people can create schools and communities where more people feel included. That way, we can develop a society that is overall healthier, happier, and more connected.
A.They may do things to increase their self-esteem.
B.This stress can use up cognitive resources needed for learning.
C.Belonging is a complex thing because it is influenced by many factors.
D.Over the years, researchers have been exploring this subjective feeling.
E.Feeling like you belong can actually improve many aspects of your life.
F.It actually serves as a warning signal that measures how much people feel accepted.
G.When you see yourself well suited to a specific environment, you feel valued and respected.

第二节(满分25分)
67.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
“What is your name? ” is a question most frequently asked when people meet for the first time. But for me, it was the first challenge I encountered as an international student in Ireland.
The pronunciation system of the Chinese language is quite different from that of English. For native speakers of English, some Chinese words are rather difficult to pronounce. My given name Qiuyu (秋雨), for instance, happened to be a great challenge for many of them. Every time I gave a self-introduction, I had to explain how to pronounce my name at least five times, yet they still could not say it the way I did.
Once in a lecture, the professor tried repeating my name after me over and over in front of thirty classmates. I really did not know whether I should continue correcting him or simply drop the matter. I feared that my classmates might grow tired of my efforts or even lose patience with me. After all, I did care about how others would think of me. I realized that if I didn’t stop, the entire lecture would be ruined. “It’s okay, professor,” I shrugged (耸肩). The awkward moment ended with the class erupting into laughter. I forced a smile, unsure how to respond further.
After that incident, I stopped acting as a “Chinese teacher.” Instead of correcting others when they were struggling to pronounce my name, I just smiled and nodded approvingly. This approach spared me the discomfort of having to over-explain. However, I soon found that by doing so, I might be losing something more important: the opportunity to share a small part of my cultural identity.
注意:

M: Let’s see ... Sameera Kapoor? Welcome. As a new patient, you just need to fill out this form.
W: Actually, I filled that out last week. I’m here today for a follow-up appointment. Do I need to fill out another one?
M: Oh, I see it in your file now. Sorry about that. You can go ahead and wait in Room Two. The doctor will be with you shortly.

W: That was an amazing play.
M: It was. Over half the people watching were school students like us.
W: I guess that’s not so unusual for an afternoon performance. Most adults are working then.
M: I wonder what it’s like being an actor. They must have to practice so hard.
W: The ones in this play certainly had. I found it difficult to believe how realistic they managed to make all of the characters.
M: Yes, and I couldn’t predict what would happen at the end.
W: I studied this play in literature classes last year, so I already knew what was going to happen.
Text 8
W: Hi Jason. Sorry to bother you. I’ve been having a problem with my computer. I thought you might be able to help me.

W: I have a file that I can’t access for some reason. I have to hand it in tomorrow.
M: Were you able to open it before, on the computer you’re using now?
W: Yes, I was working on it last night and everything was fine, but this morning I couldn’t open it.
M: Do you think your computer might have a virus?
W: No, I checked and there weren’t any.
M: I’m not sure what’s wrong. If it’s possible, email the file to me and I’ll see if I can get it to open.
W: OK, I’ll do that when I get home.
M: I’ll be home after 8 p.m. Send it to me when you get a chance and I’ll call you later.
Text 9
W: Hey Eric, what are you doing here?
M: Hi, Amy, I’m waiting for a friend.
W: I heard you’re going to graduate this summer. Is that true?
M: Yes. If everything goes alright, I’ll be getting my bachelor’s degree in August. Then I need to start looking for a job.
W: I had to do that last year. It wasn’t easy. Do you have any job offers?
M: No, not yet. I sent out a lot of applications, but I didn’t receive many responses. It’s pretty hard to find a job right now.
W: What’s your major?
M: Psychology.
W: That was my major when I started college, but I switched to engineering after the first year. And it took me about 3 months to find a job. I finally was able to get a job that matched my educational background on a job website.
M: Anyway, it really doesn’t matter. If I can’t find a job, I’ll probably go back to school to get my master’s degree.
Text 10
M: South Africa is really diverse. You can travel in one day and find many different spots and different places. If you move towards the southern part of the country close to Cape Town, you’d find they grow a lot of fruit and a lot of people live there because the climate is so mild and really has no extreme temperatures.
Traveling from Cape Town to the eastern seaboard, you’ll get to the Garden Route in South Africa and the name comes from the fact that it looks almost like a garden. Beautiful plants and trees, forests, everything grows due to relatively high rainfall. It’s really beautiful and it never gets too hot in summer and never too cold in winter. But recently perhaps because of global warming we have seen quite a lot of changes in South Africa. The hot areas have recorded even higher temperatures.
Oh, by the way, I forgot to mention there’s a really beautiful place that you can visit close to Cape Town. I think they call it the Floral Kingdom and it’s a natural heritage site that you can visit because of all the different species of plant life. Tourists from all over the world come to see it.

【详解】32.细节理解题。根据第二段“According to Counselling Directory member Ana Hristov, teens still lack emotional control, and the part of the brain that deals with reasoning and planning is still developing. That can result in poor filtering (过滤) and general directness that may come across as rude, touchy and sometimes even mean.(据咨询名录成员安娜·赫里斯托夫称,青少年仍然缺乏情绪控制能力,他们大脑中负责推理和规划的部分仍在发育。这可能导致他们过滤能力差,过于直接,表现得粗鲁、敏感,有时甚至刻薄)”可知,安娜·赫里斯托夫认为青少年的粗鲁行为源于他们不成熟的大脑。

34.细节理解题。根据第四段“But Hristov cautioned that if the rude behaviour is directed at siblings (兄弟姐妹), for instance, parents need to pull up on it immediately as your other children need a visible demonstration of you taking a firm stand, and it must be made clear that such behaviour will not be tolerated in your home.(但赫里斯托夫警告说,例如,如果这种粗鲁行为针对的是兄弟姐妹,父母需要立即制止,因为你的其他孩子需要看到你坚定的立场,而且必须明确这种行为在家里是不能容忍的)”可知,安娜·赫里斯托夫认为青少年对兄弟姐妹刻薄时,父母应立即制止。
35.推理判断题。根据最后一段“Hristov’s advice for parents in this position is to respond, rather than react. Try to remain calm, reflecting on what might be underneath the comment. Revisit the conversation when everything’s calm. Lastly, parenting teens is hard work so it’s vital that you take time out to recharge your batteries.(赫里斯托夫给处于这种情况的父母的建议是做出回应,而不是反应过激。尽量保持冷静,思考孩子话语背后的原因。等一切平静下来后再重新讨论这个问题。最后,养育青少年是一项艰巨的工作,所以抽出时间给自己充电至关重要)”可知,安娜·赫里斯托夫建议家长在养育青少年时要有同理心,理解孩子行为背后的原因,同时也要照顾好自己。

66.【答案】Possible Version 1
Dear Chris,
Glad to hear you’re participating in the World Earth Day poster contest! Between the two versions, I highly recommend the first one, “There is no Planet B.”
I prefer this design for two main reasons. Visually, the poster features a crying and sweating Earth, with factory chimneys emitting toxic smoke on its top. It vividly highlights the severe environmental crises we are facing, such as global warming and air pollution. More importantly, the slogan itself is brilliant. By cleverly playing on the phrase “Plan B”, it sends a powerful warning to the public: our planet is irreplaceable, and we have no backup home to escape to. Therefore, we must stop the destruction before it’s too late.
I believe this thought-provoking poster will surely leave a lasting impression on the judges. Best of luck!
Yours,
Li HuaPossible Version 2
Dear Chris,
Glad to hear you’re participating in the World Earth Day poster contest! Both versions are fantastic, but I favor the second one, “OUR ACTIONS, OUR FUTURE.”
What makes this poster stand out is the perfect combination of its image and slogan. In terms of the image, it presents a hopeful scene where a pair of hands gently holds the Earth. On top of the globe, leafy trees and a bright sun vividly symbolize a green, sustainable future. Moreover, the slogan perfectly matches the drawing. Written entirely in bold capitals, the words create a strong impact, conveying a highly positive message that the destiny of our planet literally lies in our own hands.
I’m sure this inspiring design will shine in the contest and motivate more people to take concrete eco-friendly actions. Good luck!
Yours,
Li Hua

67.【答案】One possible version:
In a class discussion, I was invited to explain the meaning of my name. Standing up, I felt a mix of nervousness and excitement. “My name, Qiuyu, combines the characters for autumn and rain in Chinese,” I began, my voice steady. “Autumn represents harvest and maturity, while rain symbolizes nourishment and growth. Together, they embody a time of abundance and renewal.” As I spoke, I noticed the rapt attention of my classmates, their eyes reflecting curiosity and respect. It was a moment of connection, a bridge built between cultures through the simple act of sharing my name.
Many of my classmates got interested and came up to me after class. They surrounded me, their questions pouring out like a stream. “What other names have beautiful meanings in Chinese?” “Can you teach us how to write our names in Chinese characters?” I smiled, feeling a warmth spread through me. I took out a piece of paper and began to sketch out characters, explaining each stroke and its significance. Through this interaction, I realized that by embracing my cultural identity, I was not only preserving my heritage but also enriching the lives of those around me. It was a small yet meaningful step towards fostering cultural understanding and appreciation.
