My Views on AI for Homework
Hi, everyone. Today, I’d like to share my views on using AI tools for homework. There’s no doubt that AI offers great convenience—it can quickly find information and help us save time. However, I am concerned that many of us are becoming too dependent on it. If we simply copy AI’s answers, we will lose the chance to think and learn for ourselves.
In my opinion, AI should be our tool, not our brain. I suggest we use it wisely: let AI guide us, but always do the thinking ourselves. Only in this way can technology help us grow, not limit us.
Thank you.
Antrik followed his dad into the kitchen. The warm light and the smell of sizzling onions instantly eased his tight nerves. Dad handed him an apron and asked him to wash the vegetables, chatting casually about his first bumpy flight training decades ago. He described how he had crashed three practice pods before finally mastering the parking skill, and how every failure had taught him more than any perfect score ever could. Antrik listened, his hands pausing over the running water, surprised to find that his hero had ever been just as clumsy as he was now.
From this sincere talk, Antrik gained precious courage and confidence. He realized that failure was not a label of incompetence, but a necessary step on the path to growth. The next morning, he rebooked his test without hesitation, practicing the narrow-space parking over and over again with his dad’s patient guidance. When the result finally popped up on his smartwatch, it read “PASS” in bright letters. He ran home to share the good news, knowing that no matter how far his father was in space, his support would always be the strongest power to push him forward.

IZERVAY is a prescription eye injection given by an eye care professional." (Do not receive treatment with IZERVAY if you...),C项表述不完整。
根据Most Common Side Effects部分,常见副作用包括:"blood in the white of the eye"(眼白出血)、"blurred vision"(视力模糊)、"increase in eye pressure"(眼压升高)、"eye pain"(眼痛)。A项"Higher eye pressure"(眼压升高)对应"increase in eye pressure",是列出的常见副作用之一。
This information is not comprehensive. For more information, visit www.izervay.com or talk with your eye care professional."

17-year-old Teenager Blessing Fasina from London has developed a free smartphone app to help young people manage their mental health." Mental health is something many young people struggle with, but they don't always know where to turn."
What makes MindMate different, Blessing explains, is that it was built specifically for teenagers. 'I asked my friends what they would want in an app like this,' she said." Blessing had no formal training in coding"矛盾;C项(她患有心理疾病)文章未提及;D项(她有编程经验)与"had no formal training"不符,她是自学的。
Sarah Williams, a child psychologist, praised the app. 'What Blessing has created is impressive,' she said. 'It's rare to see something developed by a teenager that is both technically sound and genuinely useful for mental health support.'" MindMate launched earlier this year"矛盾;C项(专业人士在使用)文章未提及;D项(花费多年开发)与"After two years of development"不符,是两年不是很多年。
It's rare to see something developed by a teenager that is both technically sound and genuinely useful for mental health support."

Scientists have found a way to recreate a natural substance that protects fish eggs and the babies growing inside them from the Sun's rays. The researchers believe that if the substance, called gadusol, is safe for humans, it could be a planet-friendly alternative to sun cream."
Salmon, zebrafish and sturgeon eggs contain gadusol, and so does coral." 选项A(一种细菌)、B(斑马鱼基因)、C(鱼卵中的化学物质)、D(一种海洋生物)。
However, he says there is still some way to go before gadusol can be used as sun cream on humans."

Plan your day before it unfolds. Do it in the morning or even better, the night before you sleep."B项"以计划开始每一天"能够统领全段,是这段的主题句。

(1)与所给短文及段落开头语的衔接程度;
(2)内容的丰富性;
(3)应用语法结构和词汇的丰富性和准确性;

M: Hello. International Friends Club. Can I help you?
W: Oh, hello. I read about your club in the paper today and I thought I’d phone to find out a bit more.
M: Yes, certainly. Well, we’re a sort of social club for people from different countries. It’s quite a
new club—we have about 50 members at the moment, but we’re growing all the time.
W: That sounds interesting. I’m British actually, and I came to Washington about three months
ago. I’m looking for ways to meet people. Er… what kinds of events do you organize?
M: Well, we have social get-togethers, and sports events, and we also have language evenings.
W: Could you tell me something about the language evenings?
M: Yes. Every day except Thursday we have a language evening. People can come and practice their languages—you know, over a drink or something. We have different languages on different evenings. Monday—Spanish; Tuesday—Italian; Wednesday—German; and Friday— French. On Thursday we usually have a meal in a restaurant for anyone who wants to come.
W: Well, that sounds great. I really need to practice my French.
M: OK. Well, if you can just give me your name and address, I’ll send you the form and some more information. If you join now you can have the first month free.

M: Hello. I’m interested in gardens and have visited famous ones in Britain. Can you recommend any overseas?
W: Well, gardening tours are very popular at the moment and so there’s plenty of choice. If you want to stay in Europe, then you could try Adderley Garden Tours, as they’ve got a significant number of good packages. For example, there are tours around Italian Renaissance-style gardens where the tour guide is a famous writer on gardens.
M: OK, and where could I go if I wanted to travel outside Europe?
W: Then you might like to try destinations such as Australia, New Zealand, Canada or Japan. In that case there’s an organisation called Delightful Garden Tours that will be able to help you. They’ve got a website and the name is just one word: delightfulgardentours.com.

M: Today I’m going to tell you about a race that I’ve decided to take part in next year. It’s organized by a group called Wings for Life, which raises money for research to help who’ve damaged their spine—that’s the bones in your back.
They host an event called a world run, which takes place in several different places around the world at exactly the same time. This race isn’t like other races though –in that there isn’t finish line. After 30 minutes of running, a vehicle sets off. It’s driven slowly. As it overtakes each person, they have to stop running. That’s why it’s called the catcher car! And the final runner is the winner.
The organisation has a really good website and it gives you all sorts of information, including a map of each race and ways to enter the race. They need plenty of people at each race to make sure they can pass smoothly, for example to put up signs, provide the information to the pubic, and indicate the route to runners. The website also tells you how much entry fees are—and the great thing is that the charity gets 100% of this, because the administration costs are covered by another company.

17-year-old Teenager Blessing Fasina from London has developed a free smartphone app to help young people manage their mental health. She taught herself to code (编码) and has now launched an app called MindMate.
“I wanted to create something that could genuinely help people,” Blessing told The Week Junior. “Mental health is something many young people struggle with, but they don’t always know where to turn.”
The app offers features including mood tracking, guided breathing exercises, and a journal function. Users can also access a directory of mental health resources. What makes MindMate different, Blessing explains, is that it was built specifically for teenagers. “I asked my friends what they would want in an app like this,” she said. “Everything is designed with young people in mind.”
Blessing had no formal training in coding. She learned everything from free online tutorials and YouTube videos. “I was bored at home and decided to try something new,” she recalled. “It started as a hobby, but I became fascinated with it.”
After two years of development in her spare time, MindMate launched earlier this year. It has already been downloaded more than 50,000 times and has received positive reviews from users and mental health professionals alike.
Dr. Sarah Williams, a child psychologist, praised the app. “What Blessing has created is impressive,” she said. “It’s rare to see something developed by a teenager that is both technically sound and genuinely useful for mental health support.”
Blessing is now working on adding new features, including a peer support chat function. She plans to study computer science at university and hopes to continue developing technology that makes a positive impact.
24. What is the main purpose of MindMate?
A. To track people’s moods.
B. To teach teenagers coding.
C. To help with mental health.
D. To direct breathing practice.
25. What can be inferred about Blessing?
A. She majored in coding.
B. She valued peer opinions.
C. She suffered mental illness.
D. She had programming experience.
26. What do we learn about MindMate from paragraph 5?
A. It is well received.
B. It was launched last year.
C. It is used by professionals.
D. It took many years to develop.
27. What does Dr. Williams’ comment suggest?
A. Coding should be taught earlier.
B. Teen apps are usually unreliable.
C. Most teens need mental health help.
D. The app reaches professional standards.

A man from New York, has become the first person in the world to receive a full-length, 3D-printed bionic arm. Bionic means a human-made object or system that is inspired by biological, or natural, processes. 3D printers are devices that can turn digital designs into physical objects, building them up layer-by-layer. The arm was made by Open Bionics, a company that is based in Bristol, England.
Praveen Gowtham, a 43-year-old scientist, had his right arm amputated when he was just eight days old after developing a problem that affected the blood supply in his arm. After spending nearly all his life with one arm, Gowtham started looking for devices that could make his daily life easier. When he contacted Open Bionics, they were still working on the technology and he had to wait a year before his new bionic arm could finally be fitted.
Within an hour of the new arm being attached, Gowtham was trying out tasks he had never been able to manage. He was able to walk his dog while holding a takeaway coffee at the same time.
The lightweight bionic limb was designed for the disabled. The 3D-printing technology means it can be designed to fit the user’s body. The arm gets connected to the muscles in the user’s shoulder so it can respond to their movements. Gowtham said one of the most impressive things about the arm was how quickly it responded whenever he wanted to move it.
The bionic arm has different attachments that can be replaced, depending on what you want to do. Users can clip on special tools for hobbies or chores such as gardening, and switch back to a bionic hand for other activities.
The full-length arm is a new product from Open Bionics, which mainly makes artificial limbs for people who are missing arms below the elbow. Experts hope that advances such as 3D printing can help make bionic limbs more affordable and available to the people needed around the world.
28. What does the underlined word “amputated” mean in paragraph 2?
A. Recovered. B. Removed. C. Replaced. D. Repaired.
29. Why is Gowtham able to use the bionic arm flexibly?
A. It is easy to switch back.
B. It is tailored to his body.
C. It is handmade for the injured.
D. It is equipped with special tools.
30. How do experts look at 3D printing?
A. Demanding. B. Amusing. C. Promising. D. Misleading.
31. What is the main idea of the text?
A. The influence of a 3D-printed bionic arm.
B. The promotion of Open Bionics products.
C. A call for affordable devices for the disabled.
D. The first application of a 3D-printed bionic arm.

Scientists have found a way to recreate a natural substance that protects fish eggs and the babies growing inside them from the Sun’s rays. The researchers believe that if the substance, called gadusol (鱼卵素), is safe for humans, it could be a planet-friendly alternative to sun cream.
Salmon, zebrafish and sturgeon eggs contain gadusol, and so does coral (珊瑚). However, they only contain small amounts. To get enough of it to make sun cream for humans, scientists needed to make the chemical in a laboratory.
To do this, a team at Jiangnan University, China, inserted (植入) zebrafish genes into E. coli, a type of bacteria. Genes are short sections of a chemical called DNA. They contain instructions for how a creature will develop. The genes allowed the E. coli to produce gadusol. Then, by making small changes, including altering the conditions in which the bacteria grow, the scientists drastically increased the amount of gadusol the E. coli could produce.
James Gagnon, from the University of Utah in the US, told New Scientist magazine that gadusol is likely to be safe for humans and the environment because it is already found in nature. Gagnon was part of the team that found out fish eggs use gadusol for protection from the Sun’s rays.
A lot of sun cream is harmful to ocean life. When it washes off into the sea, the chemicals in it can be absorbed by animals. This is particularly bad for coral reefs – hard structures built by thousands of tiny animals called coral polyps. Research suggests that chemicals in the cream called oxybenzone and octinoxate harm coral’s ability to reproduce and grow.
Gagnon says that as gadusol is clear, it might not leave traces on the skin like cream does now. However, he says there is still some way to go before gadusol can be used as sun cream on humans.
32. What was the purpose of using zebrafish genes in the lab?
A. To study more genes. B. To produce more gadusol.
C. To alter the conditions. D. To grow the bacteria.
33. What is one advantage of gadusol over current sun cream?
A. It is cheaper. B. It is sun-proof.
C. It is washable. D. It is eco-friendly.
34. Which is a better alternative to sun cream?
A. A kind of bacteria. B. A gene from zebrafish.
C. A chemical from fish eggs. D. A type of ocean creature.
35. What will Gagnon’s team do next?
A. Sell sun creams.
B. Study human skin.
C. Find more gadusol.
D. Further the research.
Yet there are some of us who complain about the lack of time, while there are many others who go on to achieve impossible feats, juggling multiple jobs, and still accomplishing their life goals. 36
Set clear goals. Know what your short-term and long-term goals are. For example, a short-term goal could be that you want to finish your studies at least a month before your exams. Your long-term goal could be cracking the SAT test with a perfect score. 37 Everything else is a potential time-waste activity.
Prioritize. It’s important to list the tasks you have and to sort these in order of priority, and then to devote most time to the most important tasks. 38 For instance, sending a quick reply to your boss may be ‘urgent’ but choosing the right career path is ‘important.’ If you train your eyes on the important and the urgent, you will be able to tackle most of your problems on time.
Avoid procrastination (拖延) and distraction. This one is hard because most people are guilty of either procrastination or distraction. 39 Whether it’s Facebook, gaming, or chatting with friends, we have enough bad habits that take away the precious little time. The only way to break a habit of procrastination is to consistently act in other ways – so stop putting things off and just do it.
40 A common bad habit people have is that they get into the workday without a clear idea about what needs to get done. If you spend your time thinking ahead and planning your activities, you will save the traumatic and annoying need to move from task to task without achieving anything. Plan your day before it unfolds. Do it in the morning or even better, the night before you sleep.
A. So what is their secret?
B. Start each day with a plan.
C. Many things can pull us away.
D. Focus only on what serves your goals.
E. Learn to tell the urgent from the important.
F. Write down everything you do and review it regularly.
G. Most successful people share one quality: they plan ahead.

It was the year 3012, an era of advanced space exploration and widespread personal aerial flight on Earth. On September 20, legendary astronaut Willis Everson was set to return after a five-year expedition (探险) to Europa, Jupiter’s moon. Having devoted two decades to space missions and Mars colony construction, he finally returned to reunite with his family.
His son Antrik scheduled his official flying license test on the very day of his father’s homecoming. Refusing Mom’s advice to reschedule, he knew another appointment would not be available for six months. For years, Antrik barely kept in touch with his father. Long interplanetary distance and frequent equipment glitches (故障) made their conversations rare, leaving him unfamiliar with his heroic dad.
Antrik was nervous about the upcoming test, especially the aero parking, which he found most challenging. His worry only grew when his friend Laron told him a story about a teenager who had once crashed a test pod during parking and injured his examiner.
After school, Antrik headed for the test center. He performed well in most flight operations but accidentally hit his pod during narrow-space parking. Soon, his smartwatch delivered the cruel result: FAIL. LICENSE DENIED.
Overwhelmed with shame, Antrik dragged his feet home. He was extremely afraid of disappointing his world-famous father. After arriving home, he was greeted with a warm hug from his dad. When asked about the test, Antrik admitted his failure in a low voice.
To his great surprise, Dad did not blame him. Instead, he asked calmly what had gone wrong. Antrik explained about the scratch and hesitantly, mentioned the story Laron had told him—about a clumsy teenager who once crashed a test pod. Dad laughed and revealed that the teenager was exactly himself at twelve. Patting Antrik’s shoulder, Dad offered to cook him a meal and share his own youthful experience.

1. 续写词数应为150个左右;
Paragraph 1:
Antrik followed his dad into the kitchen.
