Honesty is one of the most important 35 for everyone. It means telling the truth and not lying or cheating. Being honest helps us build good 36 with family, friends and teachers. It also makes us feel peaceful and happy inside.
Many people think honesty is easy, but sometimes it is really 37 . When we make a mistake, we may be afraid of being blamed or punished. So we want to 38 a lie to hide the truth. For example, if you break a(n) 39 vase at home, you might blame your pet or your little brother instead of telling your parents the truth. If you fail an exam, you might hide the paper from your teacher. However, these lies will only bring you more 40 .
I still remember a story I read before. A boy found a wallet with a lot of money on the street. He was very poor and needed money badly. But he did not 41 the money. Instead, he waited for the owner for a long time, and finally 42 the wallet. The owner thanked him a lot and praised him for his honesty. The boy felt much happier than if he had kept the money.
Being honest is not always easy, but it is always 43 . When you tell the truth, even if you get into trouble at first, people will 44 you more in the future. Honesty helps you become a better person. It teaches you to be responsible for your actions.
We should always remember that honesty is the best policy. We should tell the truth in our daily lives, whether big or small. Never tell lies to avoid mistakes. True happiness and trust can only come from being honest. After all, an honest heart is the most precious thing in the world.

Imagine you’re sitting around with a few friends, playing video games, when someone mentions a game that happens to be one of your favorites. “Oh, that game is way too easy. It’s not worth (值得) the time,” one of your friends remarks. The others nod in agreement. Even though you truly enjoy the game, you choose not to argue. Instead, you go along with the crowd.
What you’ve just experienced is commonly known as peer pressure—or peer influence. It means you change your behavior, dress, or attitude just to fit in with a group of people your age. As a teenager, you have likely faced peer pressure in many different areas of your life, whether at school, among friends, or even online.
People of all ages are influenced by those around them. However, for teenagers, school and other activities often take you away from home, so you may end up spending more time with friends than with family. As you grow more independent (独立的), your peers naturally begin to play a larger role in your daily life.
According to Dr. Casey from Cornell University, teens are quite quick and accurate (准确的) when making decisions on their own—especially when they have enough time to think things through. However, when they make decisions in the heat of the moment or in social situations, their choices are often shaped by friends or other people around them. In one recent study, teenage volunteers were asked to play a video driving game. Some played alone, while others played with friends watching. The results were surprising: teens took more than twice as many risks when their friends were watching than when they played alone. This finding suggests that teens may find it much harder to control risky behavior when their friends are nearby or when they are feeling strong emotions, like anger.
Still, peer pressure is not always a bad thing. Just as peers can push us toward unwise choices, they can also encourage us to make good ones. For example, a teen might join a volunteer project simply because his or her friends are doing it, or work harder in school because friends believe good grades count. In fact, friends often encourage one another to study, try out for sports, or develop new skills.
In the end, although we are usually influenced by those around us, the final decision—whether to act or not—is always our own. So when it comes to making choices, the choice is finally yours.
52.According to the passage, Dr. Casey probably agrees that teens ________.
A.enjoy playing driving games with friends
B.prefer to have time to think before deciding
C.find it easy to make decisions when they are alone
D.are more likely (可能的) to take risks when friends are around
53.The words “in the heat of the moment” in Paragraph 4 probably mean “________”.
A.when teens try to avoid dangers B.when teens believe their own opinion
C.when teens feel very angry or excited D.when teens think carefully about the situation
54.What can we learn from the passage?
A.Teens want to be different from their peers. B.Peer pressure influences both teens and grown people.
C.Peer pressure is always bad for teens. D.Teens find it hard to get good grades at school.
55.Which of the following would be the best title for the passage?
A.Peer Pressure: Do We Need to Deal with It? B.Peer Pressure: Can We Really Stay Away from It?
C.Peer Pressure: How It Helps Teens Make Friends D.Peer Pressure: How It Affects Teens and Their Choices

Joy Journal
Feeling joy is good for you. It doesn’t just make you happy at the moment. You can also save it and use it again.
When you feel joyful, you are in a good mood (情绪). This helps you deal with problems and find answers. An expert says that feeling joy is good for your health. It can protect you from getting sick. It also helps reduce pain, worry, and stress. Joy can spread (传播) quickly. It helps not only you but also people around you.
A joy journal is a special place to write down anything that makes you happy. It is your own journal, so you can put whatever you like in it. When you take time to write down what brings you joy, you can feel even more happiness from that moment.
The expert also says that a joy journal can help you remember happy times when you feel sad, lonely, or worried. When you turn the pages, those happy feelings can come back. This can make you feel better. It can also tell you that sad feelings will pass, and joy will come again soon.
How do you keep a joy journal? First, choose a notebook and decorate (装饰) the cover. You can decide how often to write in it — every day after school or only on weekends. You can put all your joyful things together or divide your journal into parts like family, friends, school, and hobbies. To best express yourself, you can write, draw, use colorful pens, or stick things in. In your joy journal, you can make lists of your favorite things, such as your favorite food, TV shows, or animals, and why you like them. You can write down a happy moment from each day: who was there, what happened, and what you could see, hear, or smell. This will help you feel that joy again and remember it more easily. You can even make a joy journal with your family to record what makes all of you happy.
Maybe you are very busy so you can’t write in a joy journal every day. Maybe you have other ways to keep happy moments, like posting on social media or making video diaries. These are also good ways. But, if possible, try to write down the things that make you smile in your joy journal.
65.How does feeling joy help your health?

If you fail an exam, you might hide the paper from your teacher. However, these lies will only bring you more 40 .
I still remember a story I read before. A boy found a wallet with a lot of money on the street. He was very poor and needed money badly. But he did not 41 the money. Instead, he waited for the owner for a long time, and finally 42 the wallet. The owner thanked him a lot and praised him for his honesty. The boy felt much happier than if he had kept the money.

Hua Weiguang is a teacher from Tongliao, Inner Mongolia. He loves to take photos. He likes taking photos of tree planters in his hometown. His photos show the hard work they do.
In Hua’s hometown, there is sand everywhere. The sand can go with the wind to many places in China. This is why the tree planters do their best to plant trees there. From Hua’s photos, we can see the tree planters’life. Hats, scarves (围巾) and glasses are the only things to help them in the wind and sand. In hot summer, the tree planters have no place to stay. They have to sleep on the floor or sit behind their cars to cool off. There’s sand everywhere. They have to eat their food with sand in it.
“You don’t fool (愚弄) the tree;it doesn’t fool you. You work hard to make it live; the tree lives well and gives you a good life,” Hua says.
Tree after tree, planters are building a Green Great Wall. Little by little, the yellow sandy land (沙地) is becoming the green land. Thanks to Hua’s photos, we know what a great thing the tree planters are doing.

根据第二段内容“From Hua’s photos, we can see the tree planters’ life. Hats, scarves and glasses are the only things to help them... They have to sleep on the floor or sit behind their cars to cool off. They have to eat their food with sand in it.”
49.文中第二段“Hats, scarves and glasses are the only things to help them in the wind and sand. In hot summer, the tree planters have no place to stay. They have to sleep on the floor or sit behind their cars to cool off. There’s sand everywhere. They have to eat their food with sand in it.”
50.根据文章最后一句“Thanks to Hua’s photos, we know what a great thing the tree planters are doing.” 故选A。
C

54.第三段“People of all ages are influenced by those around them.”

These old things often ________ ________ our sweet memories.

70.She takes the subway to get to school?
________ ________ she get to school?
How does
71.A post office is in my neighborhood.
________ ________ a post office in my neighborhood.
There is
There be句型的be动词由离它最近的名词决定,本句中最近的是单数名词a post office,因此be动词用is。
72.They grew some apple trees last year.
________ they ________ any apple trees last year?
Did grow
73.have thank to animals Humans a lot for.
___________________________________________________
Humans have a lot to thank animals for.
常用结构“have a lot to do”意为“有很多事要做……”,后接动词原形thank。“thank sb. for sth.” Humans have a lot to thank animals for.
