Is living on the moon a good idea? We asked some kids for their thoughts on the question. Here are some of their opinions. Kate I like admiring the moon at night. Building on the moon could take away its beauty and would also be very expensive. Sending food and water to the moon costs a lot too. Leo I think people should live on the moon. It would be fun to go to space in a rocket. You could float around and see more stars and planets. You could even lift heavy things, because the moon has much weaker gravity (重力). Betty The moon lacks the water, food, air and shelter needed to survive. Also, if you wanted to go for a swim, you’d be out of luck, because there are no swimming pools or oceans! Living on the moon would be very difficult. Mike Living on the moon would have advantages. It would allow humans to depend less on the earth. I gave her a bunch (束) of pink flowers and then Mom put them in a big glass by the window. I sat next to Grandma’s bed and held her hand. It felt very thin. “How are you feeling?” I asked. “Much better now that you’re here.” she said, patting my head. I told her about my school day-how my friend-Lily shared her lunch, and how I drew a picture of my family. Grandma listened carefully. Mom gave her a cup of water. Then I remembered Grandma’s favorite storybook. “Shall I read to you?” I asked. She nodded happily. C篇 Every year, from March to May, some spotted seals (斑海豹) return to Changdao Island in Shandong. They are fond of resting on the warm rocks and sunbathing. People often call them the “pandas of the sea” because they are cute but rare (稀有的). Changdao is now a “5-star hotel” for spotted seals. The sea is becoming cleaner, with more seagrass, fish, and other sea life. This year, 41 spotted seals have been found there. Scientists have built a photo database. Since each seal has unique spots on its face, just like human fingerprints, they can be recognized easily. In other places of China, scientists are also doing everything to protect seals and help those in danger. A young seal called Nana was found in Beihai, Guangxi, with wounds on its body. After more than a year of care, Nana grew from a thin and weak pup (幼兽) into a healthy big body weighing 76.8 kilos! Nana is now ready to return to the sea. New research has found that people can actually feel unexpected free time, like when a meeting is canceled, longer than planned free time. This means that two people with the same amount of free time may have very different feelings about it and even use that time in different ways, which depends on whether it is planned or unexpected. The researchers tested this idea in several experiments. Across all of them, the results were the same: people felt unexpected free time lasted longer than planned free time. In one experiment, 243 students attended a lesson that was supposed to last 30 minutes. Half were told the lesson would finish early. The others were told it would last the full time, but were told after 20 minutes that the lesson had finished. Then, the students walked down a hall with boxes of presents. At the same time, the researchers observed (观察) the students’ behavior and found the students who had unexpected free time spent about 13% longer looking at the presents along the hall, suggesting they felt that they had more time. The researchers said this is because people compare unexpected free time to the idea of having no free time at all, making each minute feel like a bonus (意外收获). 57. How do people probably feel unexpected free time according to the text? A. Longer. B. Busier. C. More boring. D. More disappointing. 58. How did the researchers test this idea according to Paragraph 3? A. By having meetings. B. By offering suggestions. C. By carrying out experiments. D. By holding competitions. 59. Why did the lesson end early in the experiment in Paragraph 4? A. To let students clean the hall. B. To hand out presents. C. To give students time to discuss. D. To observe students’ behavior. 60. What is the text? A. A report. B. A diary. C. A novel. D. A story. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)根据对话内容,从对话后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。 Linda: Hi, David! How’s your summer holiday?
