Vocational Education in Germany
Germany has one of the best vocational education systems in the world. About half of German students choose vocational education after finishing secondary school. Here’s how it works:
First, students choose an occupation (职业) they want to learn. Then, they apply to a company that offers training for that occupation. If the company accepts them, they sign a training contract (合同) with the company.
During the training, students split (分配) their time between school and the company. They spend about 30% of their time in a vocational school, learning basic and special knowledge related to their occupation. The other 70% of their time is spent at the company, learning skills and work steps in real work environments.
