After returning home, Roberta wanted to know if (是否) the old gentleman could help the Russian find his family. So the children wrote to the old gentleman. The children took the letter to the station master and asked him to give it to the old gentleman.
The next day, they went to the station. When the train came, the old gentleman got off. The children ran up to him.
“Thank you for coming to talk to us,” Roberta said.

“What’s his name?” the old gentleman asked.

He wrote down the Russian’s name on a piece of paper. It was Mr. Szczepansky.
“I know that name,” the old gentleman said. “I’ve read his book. I know many Russians in London, and they will know this man. But now, tell me all about yourselves. You’re such good children, and your mother is so kind to help a poor refugee (避难者). I want to know everything about you.”
The children began to talk about themselves, their mother, and their father. Phyllis left the waiting room for a short time and then came back carrying a pot of tea and some bread and butter.
“Perks, the porter, gave this to me,” she said. The children had a delightful tea party with the old man. Then, he got on the next train and went on his way to London.
Ten days later, the children were sitting above the station when the 5:15 train came in. They saw the old gentleman get off. The children ran down to the station. The old gentleman was waiting for them.
“I have good news for you,” he said. “l have found the Russian’s wife and child. May I come with you to your cottage (村舍) and tell him the good news?”
The children led the old gentleman to their cottage.
