B At 60, mother-of-five Liz Earle is energised, clear-headed, and understands that the way she lives her life will give her the best chance of longevity. Earle, who sold her beauty company in 2010, isn’t one for standing still. She went on to found the Liz Earle Wellbeing magazine, continues with TV appearances, launched the charity LiveTwice, hosts a weekly podcast, and has written 36 books, including her latest, A Better Second Half, a manifesto (宣言) for midlife women. She was in denial about ageing for a while. She says: “I turned 60 last year and I didn’t want to acknowledge it. In my mother’s generation, 60 was grey hair, twinset and pearls, and slippers. I feel so far removed from that stereotype (刻板印象).” Earle, though, has defied the numbers. When she was in her mid-50s, she had her biological markers of age tested, which showed her biological age to be 39. It’s now 45, but in the next few years she intends on getting that marker down. In her late 50s, Earle experienced a lot of upheavals in her personal life, divorcing her second husband and failing in investment.“Starting again in my mid-50s was challenging but also energising, because it was an opportunity for a fresh start,”she reflects. “I felt like I was being given a second chance. And I want to encourage other women who feel that they are washed up, too.” The wellness advice she offers in the book is backed by scientific data, and it’s clear that Earle has done a lot of research in the three years it took to write it; she offers all manner of ways to maintain good health. She is concerned that midlife women don’t prioritise themselves. “Society marginalises (使微不足道) midlife women — we become invisible, we become irrelevant, whether that’s because we’re losing our looks, or we’re losing our relevance in society. And, actually, that shouldn’t be the case. We’re the clever, wise ones who have lived through it,” she explains.“ Ageing is a gift,”Earle continues,“Even when I was running the beauty company, we never used the term anti-ageing well — keeping cognitive function, keeping mobility, having a purpose.” Now, Earle is embracing all the good things that age has brought her, recently welcoming her first grandchild into the world, and she says she is looking forward to the next decade. 4. Which of the following statements is TRUE about Earle? A. She used to work as an employee in a beauty company. B. She steps out of the comfort zone and embraces changes. C. She believes she fits the stereotype of the 60- year- olds. D. She offered wellness advice without any scientific proof. 5. What does the underlined word “upheavals” in paragraph 5 mean? A. Unfair treatments. B. Heavy burdens. C. Sharp criticisms. D. Unpleasant changes. 6. According to paragraph 7, what does Earle encourage midlife women to do? A. To fight against ageing. B. To regain their wisdom. C. To put themselves first. D. To accept plastic surgery. 7. What’s Earle’s attitude towards ageing? A. Grateful. B. Fearful. C. Doubtful. D. Pitiful. C For a long time, psychologists believed in “catharsis theory,” or the idea that it’s better to release negative emotions than hold onto them. But back in 2002, Brad Bushman, a professor of communication at the Ohio State University, published a study that questioned that logic, saying that venting (发泄) “is the worst thing you can do” when you’ re mad and it’s “adding more fuel to the fire.” Focusing on a frustrating conversation can blow out of proportion relatively minor annoyances, which is unhealthy, says Jesse Cougle, a psychology professor studying anger at Florida State University. The problem is that when you’re furious (愤怒的), it feels better to shout angrily than it does to take some centering deep breaths. Bushman has seen that in his research. Even though activities like hitting a punching bag don’t actually lessen anger, “75% of people report feeling better” after they do it, he says. The same is often true for venting to a friend. It feels great to have someone support your perspective. Can something that feels so good really be so wrong? Bushman says it’s not always a bad thing to get something off your chest. Talking through a negative feeling with the goal of understanding why something bothered you and how to better respond in the future, such as with a therapist, can be beneficial, he says. But venting becomes less helpful, Cougle says, when it’s mean-spirited—when you repeat the same thing you’ve done many times, keeping yourself stuck in that past anger without trying to move past it. When you feel yourself getting stuck in the trap of venting, look for healthier coping strategies. If yoga and meditation aren’t your thing, try a quick shift in perspective. Bushman’s research supports the “fly-on-the-wall” technique, which challenges angry people to imagine themselves as a third party observing the situation that made them angry. And finally, don’t underestimate the impact of anger — that is, getting angry when you’re hungry. Science suggests it’s a real phenomenon. So next time you feel yourself gearing up for a venting session, think of grabbing a snack and taking a few deep breaths instead. 8. What is the traditional belief of venting? A. Nothing can be worse than venting. B. Venting may lead to worse emotions. C. Letting anger out always works well. D. Releasing negative feelings is logical. 9. What does the underlined word “that” in paragraph 3 refer to? A. The problem of venting while angry. B. The benefit of taking some deep breaths. C. The temporary relief from venting anger. D. The lessened anger after hitting something. 10. Why is the “fly-on-the-wall” technique mentioned in paragraph 5? A. To challenge angry people. B. To replace yoga and meditation. C. To illustrate change in perspective. D. To observe the situation as a third party. 11. What is the passage mainly about? A. The psychological risk of venting and its influence. B. The harm of venting anger and its coping techniques. C. The science of hunger-related anger and its solutions. D. The development of catharsis theory and its modern debates. D We often think of our environment in terms of what we see, but the sounds that surround us — the soundscape — hold profound power over our emotions and physical health. This sonic environment includes everything from the calming, rhythmic crash of ocean waves to the chaotic, stressful roar of city traffic and the hum of office electronics. Each of these sonic elements can trigger powerful, immediate biological and emotional responses, influencing our state of mind without our conscious awareness. A growing body of research confirms that natural sounds are particularly restorative. Listening to birdsong or a stream can lower heart rates and reduce stress hormones, aiding mental recovery. In contrast, chronic exposure to noise pollution, like traffic rumble, is linked to increased risks of heart disease, sleep problems, and difficulty concentrating. However, the impact of a soundscape isn’t purely physical or universal; it is also deeply psychological and cultural. As Dr. Eleanor Vance, an acoustic ecologist, explains, the perception of sound is highly subjective. A sound that is annoying to one person might be comforting to another. For instance, the distant whistle of a train might evoke feelings of loneliness or disruption for some, yet it could trigger fond childhood memories of travel or home for others. This personal and cultural filter (过滤) means that our individual histories and backgrounds fundamentally shape how we interpret and are affected by the sounds around us. This expanding understanding is now driving a global movement to intentionally design healthier acoustic environments. Urban planners and architects are increasingly using “soundscaping” techniques. This goes beyond simple noise reduction. It involves creating more urban parks with water features whose sound masks traffic noise, implementing designated quiet zones, and using specific building materials to absorb unwanted sound. The goal is not to create absolute silence, but to cultivate a balanced mix of sounds that promotes well-being. By becoming more aware of the sound around us, we can take meaningful steps to create sonic environments that nourish, rather than harm, our quality of life. 12. What is the function of the first paragraph? A. To lead in urban noise pollution. B. To compare natural and urban sounds. C. To explain how human’s hearing works. D. To introduce soundsapes and their effects. 13. What can be learned from Dr. Vance’s explanation? A. Urban noise usually leads to health problems. B. Natural sounds universally produce calming effects. C. The perception of sound is shaped by personal background. D. Sound’s impact is primarily a physiological reaction. 14. What is the goal of the “soundscaping” movement? A. To create perfect silence. B. To remove all man-made sounds. C. To use nature recordings everywhere. D. To create a harmonious sound environment. 15. What is the best title for the text? A. Soundscapes: The Pursuit of Quietness B. Soundscapes: The Problem of Urban Noise C. Soundscapes: Shaping Health and Experience D. My fingers trembled as I held the paintbrush. “Remember, class,” Mrs. Larson’s voice echoed in my mind, “your final project should reflect your personal journey this semester.” I swallowed hard. Three months ago, I wouldn’t have dared to set foot in this room. Art had always been Mia’s territory (领地) — my best friend since third grade who could make magic happen with just a pencil and paper. It all started on that rainy September afternoon in the library when I was drawing on my math notebook. Mia had picked it up before I could stop her. “Amazing, Lily!” she said, her green eyes wide with genuine excitement. “The way you play with negative space (留白) ... you have to join art club!” Now, as I looked at the pile of failed attempts beside me — a sunset that looked like a traffic light. I wondered if I’d made a terrible mistake. The Spring Art Exhibition was just two days away, and my confidence was fading faster than the cheap watercolors on my practice sheets. A soft knock stopped my thoughts. Mia popped her head in. “Still here?” She slid into the seat beside me, eyeing my latest failure. “You’re overthinking it,” she said gently. “Art isn’t about perfection. It’s about...” “Expression, I know,” I finished for her, sighing. But how could I express what I didn’t even understand myself? The bell rang, signaling the end of after-school hours. Mia hesitated at the door. “Just...try painting how you feel, not what you see.”As her footsteps faded down the hallway, I turned back to the blank canvas. For the first time, I noticed how the afternoon sun streaming through the windows made the white surface shine like fresh snow. Taking a deep breath, I reached for the black paint. Paragraph 1: The clock struck midnight as I finally stepped back from the painting stand. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: Two days later, I was surprised to see so many people gathering around my work at the exhibition. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 杭州学军中学海创园学校高一下市统测模拟英语试题卷 总分:150分 时间:120分钟 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分) 听下面5段录音。 1. A. Grateful. B. Fearful. C. Doubtful. D. Pitiful. B 5. D 6. C 7. 从第二段中的“She went on to found the Liz Earle Wellbeing magazine, continues with TV appearances, launched the charity LiveTwice, hosts a weekly podcast, and has written 36 books, including her latest, A Better Second Half, a manifesto(宣言) for midlife women.(她后来创办了《Liz Earle Wellbeing》杂志,继续在电视上露面,创办了慈善机构LiveTwice,主持每周播客,并写了36本书,包括她最新的《更好的下半场》,这是一本面向中年女性的宣言)”可知,厄尔的生活丰富多彩,不满足于平淡生活。 从第八段“Now, Earle is embracing all the good things that age has brought her, recently welcoming her first grandchild into the world, and she says she is looking forward to the next decade.(现在,厄尔正在拥抱年龄带给她的所有美好事物,最近迎来了她的第一个孙子,她说她期待着下一个十年)”以及上一段内容可知,厄尔将变老看作一份礼物,并拥抱变老带来的一切好处,说明她对变老充满感恩之情。故选A项。 C For a long time, psychologists believed in “catharsis theory,” or the idea that it’s better to release negative emotions than hold onto them. D 9. C 10. C 11. 根据第一段“For a long time, psychologists believed in “catharsis theory,” or the idea that it’s better to release negative emotions than hold onto them. (长期以来,心理学家们信奉“宣泄理论”,即认为释放负面情绪比压抑它们更好的观点。)”可知,传统的发泄观点是释放负面情绪是合乎逻辑的。故选D项。 【9题详解】 词句猜测题。根据第三段“The problem is that when you’re furious (愤怒的), it feels better to shout angrily than it does to take some centering deep breaths. (他说,尽管像打沙袋这样的活动实际上并不能减轻愤怒,但“75%的人表示在做了这些活动后感觉更好”。)”可知,研究发现75%的人认为这些活动后会感觉更好,由此可知,研究中发现的“that”指的是发泄愤怒带来的暂时缓解。故选C项。 【10题详解】 推理判断题。根据第五段“When you feel yourself getting stuck in the trap of venting, look for healthier coping strategies. If yoga and meditation aren’t your thing, try a quick shift in perspective. Bushman’s research supports the “fly-on-the-wall” technique, which challenges angry people to imagine themselves as a third party observing the situation that made them angry. (当你感觉自己陷入宣泄的陷阱时,要寻找更健康的应对策略。如果瑜伽和冥想不合你的心意,试试快速转换视角。布什曼的研究支持“墙上苍蝇”技巧,即让愤怒的人想象自己作为第三方观察令他们生气的情境。)”可推断,第五段提到“墙上苍蝇”技巧是为了说明视角的变化。故选C项。 【11题详解】 主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是第一段“But back in 2002, Brad Bushman, a professor of communication at the Ohio State University, published a study that questioned that logic, saying that venting (发泄) “is the worst thing you can do” when you’ re mad and it’s “adding more fuel to the fire.”(但早在2002年,俄亥俄州立大学传播学教授布拉德・布什曼发表了一项研究,对这一逻辑提出了质疑。他指出,生气时发泄“是你能做的最糟糕的事情”,这无异于“火上浇油”。)”可知,文章先指出传统宣泄理论的问题,接着说明发泄愤怒的危害,最后介绍应对技巧,“发泄愤怒的危害及其应对技巧”最能概括全文。故选B项。 D We often think of our environment in terms of what we see, but the sounds that surround us — the soundscape — hold profound power over our emotions and physical health. Soundscapes: The healing Power of Nature 【答案】12. D 13. C 14. D 15. 根据第一段“We often think of our environment in terms of what we see, but the sounds that surround us — the soundscape — hold profound power over our emotions and physical health. This sonic environment includes everything from the calming, rhythmic crash of ocean waves to the chaotic, stressful roar of city traffic and the hum of office electronics. Each of these sonic elements can trigger powerful, immediate biological and emotional responses, influencing our state of mind without our conscious awareness.(我们看待环境时,往往只关注眼前所见,但环绕在身边的各类声音 —— 也就是声景,对我们的情绪与身体健康有着深刻的影响。 这种声音环境包罗万象:既有海浪舒缓规律的拍打声,也有城市车流嘈杂扰人的轰鸣,还有办公室电子设备持续的嗡鸣。 每一种声音元素都能立刻引发强烈的生理与情绪反应,在我们毫无察觉的情况下左右心境。)”可知,第一段旨在引入声景并说明它带来的各类影响。 【13题详解】 推理判断题。根据第三段“As Dr. Eleanor Vance, an acoustic ecologist, explains, the perception of sound is highly subjective.(声学生态学家Eleanor Vance博士解释,人对声音的感知极具主观性。)”以及“This personal and cultural filter (过滤) means that our individual histories and backgrounds fundamentally shape how we interpret and are affected by the sounds around us.(这种个人与文化层面的过滤机制意味着个人经历与背景从根本上决定我们如何理解周遭声音、以及受其影响的方式。)” 根据第五段“The goal is not to create absolute silence, but to cultivate a balanced mix of sounds that promotes well-being.(该举措的目标并非打造绝对寂静,而是营造均衡、能提升幸福感的混合声环境。)” 根据第一段“We often think of our environment in terms of what we see, but the sounds that surround us — the soundscape — hold profound power over our emotions and physical health.(我们常从视觉角度看待环境,但环绕我们的声音——声景,会深刻影响我们的情绪与身体健康。)”以及最后一段“By becoming more aware of the sound around us, we can take meaningful steps to create sonic environments that nourish, rather than harm, our quality of life.(只要我们多留意身边的声响,就能采取切实有效的举措,打造滋养生活品质、而非损害生活质量的声环境。)” Leisure Focus: Scrapbooking The dictionary defines a scrapbook as “an empty book for collecting and preserving photographs, newspaper articles, and other papers.” ____16____ To learn more about it, we talked with Diane Lucas of Scrapsforever.com. Unlike isolated city parks, green corridors serve as ecological “highways” that link different natural habitats. A recent study ____38____ (conduct) by a leading environmental research institute shows that cities with well-designed green corridors have more native species than those cities ____39____. If the corridors are properly maintained, they can effectively reduce the risk of species isolation. Many cities around the world ____40____ (invest) heavily in green corridor construction over the past few decades. For example, Singapore has built over 300 kilometers of green corridors, which connect its famous botanical gardens with suburban forests. These corridors ____41____ (design) to improve people’s quality of life and protect the environment. Additionally, they organize volunteer activities ____43____ (guide) residents to protect the plants and animals in these green spaces. Green corridors make cities ____44____ (livable) by providing fresh air and a peaceful escape from urban chaos. With careful planning, they will become a bridge between humans and nature, _____45_____ (ensure) a healthier future for both. 36. residential 37. where 38. conducted 39. without 40. have invested 41. are designed 42. planners 43. to guide 44. more livable 45. ensuring 【解析】 【导语】这篇文章主要介绍了城市绿色走廊的定义、作用、全球建设情况以及长期维护措施,阐述了绿色走廊在平衡城市发展与生态保护、提升居民生活质量方面的重要意义。 分析句子可知,设空处引导定语从句,先行词是network(网络),在从句中作地点状语(即people can get close to nature easily in the network),因此用关系副词where引导。 时间状语over the past few decades(过去几十年)是现在完成时的标志,主语many cities为复数,所以为have invested的填入。 Embrace AI Wisely, Prioritize Health First ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Embrace AI Wisely, Prioritize Health First Dear fellow students, I’m Li Hua, president of the Student Union. Recently, I have noticed that some students depend too much on AI tools to finish their homework. They copy answers directly without thinking, which makes them lose the ability to study independently. This problem worries me a lot. I believe that AI should be a helper, not a replacement for our own brains. Therefore, I suggest that we use AI only when we truly need help, and we should try to solve problems by ourselves first. What matters most is that we develop real skills, not just get good grades. Let’s use AI wisely and protect our learning ability! 词汇积累 依赖:depend on → rely on 完成:finish → complete 帮助:help → assistance 重要:matter → count 2. I believe that AI should be a helper, not a replacement for our own brains. I believe that AI, which should be a helper, is not a replacement for our own brains. 1】Recently, I have noticed that some students depend too much on AI tools to finish their homework. 2】They copy answers directly without thinking, which makes them lose the ability to study independently. The blank canvas (画布) stared back at me, its whiteness scarier than any exam I’d ever taken. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One Possible Version: Paragraph 1: The clock struck midnight as I finally stepped back from the painting stand. Before me stood a not technically perfect painting, but something far more honest — a cloud of dark blues and grays gradually giving way to warm yellows and oranges. In the center, a small but determined figure emerged, her outline formed by the negative space Mia always praised me for noticing. My hands, now covered with every color on the board, trembled not from nervousness but from the genuine emotion I’d poured onto that canvas. For the first time, I understood what Mrs. Larson meant by “personal journey.” Paragraph 2: Two days later, I was surprised to see so many people gathering around my work at the exhibition. A freshman girl pointed excitedly, “It’s like watching sunrise after a storm!” Mrs. Larson nodded thoughtfully, murmuring something about “authentic emotional expression” to the principal. Then I noticed Mia in the back, wiping her eyes while giving me two thumbs up. At that moment, surrounded by murmurs of appreciation, I realized art wasn’t about being the best — it was about finding the courage to share your unique perspective with the world. And maybe, just maybe, that was a lesson that applied to more than just painting. 出现:emerge/appear/turn up ②.颤抖:tremble/shake ③.说悄悄话:murmur/whisper 情绪类 ①.焦虑: nervousness/anxiety ②.兴奋地:excitedly/zealously/enthusiastically 【点睛】[高分句型1]. For the first time, I understood what Mrs. Larson meant by “personal journey.”(运用了what引导的宾语从句) [高分句型2]. Then I noticed Mia in the back, wiping her eyes while giving me two thumbs up.(运用了现在分词作状语) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
