Chinese scientists have developed a robotic antelope (羚羊) to watch over wild Tibetan antelopes-a species listed as “near endangered”. The robot, has successfully joined real antelope groups in nature.
For many years, Tibetan antelopes were in serious danger. They were hunted for their soft fur, which is used to make expensive shawls (披肩). As a result, their population dropped greatly from one million to 65, 000 in the 1990s. Thanks to strong protection effort, the number is now rising again.
However, it is still difficult for scientists to study them closely. The antelopes live in the Hoh Xil National Nature Reserve (保护区), which is over 4,600 meters above sea level with cold and little oxygen. Also, the antelopes are very sensitive-they run away from humans 500—800 meters away. Traditional tools like telescopes cannot get close enough, and drones often scare the animals. So the robotic antelope was invented to solve these problems.
Not long ago, the robot was recently tested near Zonag Lake where female antelopes go every summer to give birth. Unlike human scientists carrying cameras, the robotic antelope had a small hidden camera under its eyes. It looks just like a real antelope, sharing the same fur colour and body shape, so it doesn’t scare the animals. At first, the real antelopes seemed curious about the newcomer. But soon, it was accepted into the group to walk with the real antelopes and recorded videos.
The robot uses artificial intelligence (AI), which allows it to “learn” as it moves. During the test, it successfully travelled 2 kilometers across challenging ground, like slopes (斜坡) and muddy wetlands, collecting valuable videos and data.
Scientists believe this robotics technology can provide important information to support the protection of Tibetan antelopes, especially during birth and migration seasons, with very little human interference (干扰).
1.What was the population of Tibetan antelopes in the 1990s?
A.1,000,000. B.65,000. C.4,600. D.500—800.
2.The word “sensitive” in Paragraph 3 probably means ________.
A.casy to be scared or affected B.very friendly to humans
C.difficult to see at night D.slow in moving.
3.Why didn’t the robotic antelope scare real antelopes?
A.Because it moves very quickly. B.Because it works only at night.
C.Because it makes friendly sounds. D.Because it looks like a real antelope.
4.What is the main idea of the text?
A.It explains why Tibetan antelopes were in danger.
B.It discusses the importance of protecting Tibetan wild antelopes.
C.It reports how scientists use a robotic antelope to protect wild antelopes.
D.It compares the differences between real antelopes and robotic antelope.

Finding a snail? Catching it? Easy—they hardly move!
To tell the truth, I wasn’t raised to be a fan of snails. Having a grandmother as a gardener, my brother and I were taught from a young age that if we see a snail on a plant, we should pick it off. But as I’ve grown older, my view on snails has changed. They bring me a different kind of happiness.
The first time I saw snails as more than just pests was in my garden. A small snail, carrying a hard round shell on its back, moved slowly toward a half-open flower bud and explored it. After a while, the bud bloomed. Watching the snail carefully touching the flower with its tentacles (触角) reminded me of the lyrics “Snails see the beauty in every inch.” At that moment, I realized it takes life slowly but seriously.
Another time, I noticed a little snail moving by. I quickly picked up the snail and placed it in my hand. Accidentally, a few drops of water dripped onto the snail. It was scared by the sudden wetness and quickly retreated into its shell. I thought it would hide inside for at least a couple of minutes, but shortly after that, the snail poked its head out again. It was not just hiding but adjusting.
It’s not just the snail’s movements that make it a symbol of peace, but also its sense of knowing when to re-enter the exciting life. Once, having difficulty with my career, I was walking outside the office on a hot summer day. On my way back, it started to rain. When the raindrops wet the soil, some little friends appeared everywhere. After waiting patiently for the rain, they energetically get going and go. It was also the right moment for me to start over.
So, what is the secret to living like snails? It’s not about being sluggish. It’s about being snailish.
1.What did the writer think of snails when she was young?
A.They were interesting treasures in the garden.
B.They were harmful to plants and should be killed.
C.They were symbols of peace and calm.
D.They were too slow to be noticed.
2.What does the underlined sentence in Paragraph 3 mean?
A.Snails move slowly and like beautiful things.
B.Snails can see small things clearly.
C.Snails take their time to discover beauty around them.
D.Snails spend all their time looking for beauty.
3.Which is true about snails?
A.Snails prefer hot summer days. B.Snails are afraid of water and will hide for a long time.
C.Snails live a slow and boring life every day. D.Snails are able to get used to new situations.
4.How can we live a “snailish” life?
A.We must stay away from danger in our life.
B.We can do almost everything as slowly as snails do.
C.We should stay calm and know when to move forward.
D.We had better wait for others' help when in trouble.

一、单项选择
1.—I hope I won’t forget my promise to come to your party next Friday.
—Don’t worry. You will ________ the time one day earlier.
A.remind B.be reminded C.remind of D.be reminded of
【答案】D
【详解】句意:——我希望我不会忘记下周五来参加你派对的承诺。——别担心。你会在一天前被提醒这个时间。
考查被动语态和固定短语。句中主语“You”是“remind”这个动作的承受者,需用被动语态“be+过去分词”;“提醒某人某事”的固定搭配是“remind sb. of sth.”,被动形式为“sb. be reminded of sth.”。故选D。
2.(25-26八年级下·甘肃天水·期中)—Let’s turn off the lights to save energy.
—________. Let’ do our part!
A.That depends. B.That makes sense. C.Good luck! D.No way.
【答案】B
【详解】句意:——让我们关灯节约能源吧。——有道理。尽我们的一份力!
That depends.视情况而定。That makes sense.有道理,说得通。Good luck.祝你好运。No way.没门。对方提出关灯节能的合理建议,后文表示要尽一份力,说明是赞同的态度,因此“有道理,说得通”最符合语境。
3.The government has provided houses ________ people in poor areas ________.
A.to; to live B.for; living in C.with; to live in D.for; to live in
【答案】D
【详解】句意:政府已经为贫困地区的人民提供了居住的房子。
to到;for为了;with和;live居住;live in居住在(某地)。“provide sth. for sb.”意为“为某人提供某物”,第一个空填for;第二空处动词不定式作后置定语修饰houses,live是不及物动词,与houses构成逻辑上的动宾关系需加介词in,即live in the houses,故第二空填to live in。
4.He can’t fall ________ but his wife is so ________ that she is fast asleep.
A.sleep ,asleep B.sleepy, asleep C.asleep, sleepy D.sleeping, sleepy

A
Chinese scientists have developed a robotic antelope (羚羊) to watch over wild Tibetan antelopes-a species listed as “near endangered”.

【答案】1.B 2.C 3.D 4.C
