Think about the last time you did something that you found it was difficult. Can you remember the expression you had on your face?
Most people will press their lips together (嘴唇紧闭) when they are doing something difficult. This is a sign of doing difficult things. Now, we find that it can also say more than that. A recent study shows that the human expression of facing difficulties is our way of asking others for help.
Scientists gave children and chimpanzees (黑猩猩) an impossible puzzle (难题) to work out. When the children couldn’t work out the puzzle, their faces showed a frustrated expression. However, the chimpanzees did not have such an expression.
Humans and chimpanzees have many facial expressions that share the same meaning. A human smile is the same as a chimpanzee showing its teeth in happiness.
According to Dr. Albert, a well-known professor of psychology, only 7% of human communication happens through words and 55% of communication among humans is through body language.
With this in mind, next time when you see a person with a frustrated expression, listen to your heart and stop to give him or her a hand.

A. opened widely B. pressed together C. moving quietly D. shaking terribly

A. 沮丧的 B. 开心的 C. 无聊的 D. 饥饿的
26. What can we learn from this passage?
A. Only chimpanzees took part in the scientists’ study.
B. Humans and chimpanzees have the same way of showing sadness.
C. The frustrated expression on humans’ faces is also a way of asking for help.
D. There is 7% of human communication taking place through body language.

There is a traditional toy called taiping nijiaojiao. It is a clay toy and also a whistle in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province. It has a history of more than 1,000 years.
Taiping nijiaojiao is made of the mud from the local mountain. It takes more than ten steps to make this clay toy, and the key step is to knead it with your hands. You can knead the clay toy into anything, like animals and plants. The blowhole is the most difficult part to make, because the sound of the whistle depends on the size of the blowhole. While coloring, you can use traditional cultural elements that carry good meanings.
It’s hard to make taiping nijiaojiao. However, when you finally make it, you will feel good of yourself.
Zhou Baokang, a lover of folk art, learned how to make the clay toy from local artists about 20 years ago. He wants more people to know about it, so he has opened a museum to introduce the clay toy. He teaches kids how to make the clay toy, too.
There are many traditional art forms in China, but some of them have been lost. Luckily, the traditional clay toy taiping nijiaojiao is kept to this day.

【解析】
【导语】本文作者介绍给未来的自己写信的经历,回看旧信对比自身成长与改变。
【1题详解】
句意:我发现它很有趣,所以我给未来的自己写了两封信。
空处修饰名词短语future self,需用形容词性物主代词,应用my。me是宾格代词、mine是名词性物主代词、I是主格代词,均不符合语法规则。
【2题详解】
句意:在信里,我许下了一些愿望和决心。
此处表示“在信的内容里”,应用介词In。To“到”、Out“在……外”、Off“离开”均不符合语境。
【3题详解】
句意:看到过去和现在的不同很有趣。
此处是It was+形容词+to do sth,表示“做某事是……
主语my old days与谓语bring之间是被动关系,且“When I was reading the letter”表明时态是一般过去时,因此空处用一般过去时的被动语态were brought。

根据后半句to anyone who came to visit,是把收藏的漫画拿给访客观看,应选用show,表示展示;expect期待、invite邀请、lead带领,无法搭配物品表达给他人观赏的含义。

24. When someone is doing something hard, his or her lips will be ________.
A. opened widely B. pressed together C. moving quietly D. shaking terribly
25. The underlined word “frustrated” in Paragraph 3 means “________” in Chinese.
A. 沮丧的 B. 开心的 C. 无聊的 D. 饥饿的
【答案】24. B 25. A 26. C
【解析】

【25题详解】

【26题详解】
第二段最后一句“the human expression of facing difficulties is our way of asking others for help.”,沮丧表情是人面对困难时求助的方式,与C选项表述一致;其余选项均与原文信息不符。

While coloring, you can use traditional cultural elements that carry good meanings.
It’s hard to make taiping nijiaojiao. However, when you finally make it, you will feel good of yourself.

Zhang Lin is a student of Grade 8. Earlier this month, Zhang and his classmates stood on the street with a box asking people for donations. Later, they gave the money they got to the poor students in their school.
Chinese students usually raise money to help people in need. Most of the time, they hold a box and ask for donations on the street or in the park. Or they sell things like old books and CDs. Those students have done a great job so far. The money helps the students in poor areas like Yunnan and Gansu with new clothes, pens and pencils.
Teenagers in the US make donations, too. But they raise money in a different way—they raise money by doing something for others. For example, they sell homemade food or play concerts in their neighborhood to raise money.
“Chinese students like to wait for people to donate, or sell things that they buy with their parents’ money,” says Guo Daoshun, an education expert (教育专家). “While US kids get donations and give people something useful in return.”
He says Chinese teenagers should learn to raise money in the US kids’ ways. “In that way, they can show their talents and practice communication. More importantly, they can learn that every coin counts. They have to work hard to get a donation.”
