As technology develops fast, it has changed people’s lives, even in faraway villages. During the summer vacation, college student Wang Lei returned to his hometown in the Taihang Mountains. At the village entrance, he saw some villagers around a smartphone, looking perturbed. He asked and found they couldn’t use basic phone functions: no video calls, no code payments, and no way to learn about the outside world. Wang Lei decided to help.
The next morning, he put a blackboard in the village office and hung a “Free Smartphone Class” notice at the gate. At first, only a few came. Wang Lei taught them slowly: unlocking the screen, sending voice messages, taking photos and checking the weather. For elders with bad memories, he even drew small pictures next to the notes, like a little phone picture for unlocking, so they could understand more easily. When an old grandma finally sent her first voice message to her grandson, she clapped her hands happily. He wrote step-by-step notes and repeated lessons. Soon, more villagers joined, and their confused faces turned into smiles.
Later, Wang Lei noticed villagers’ potatoes and peanuts were hard to sell. He helped them open online shop accounts, took good photos of the products, and wrote about their green planting. Orders poured in. Villagers carried bags of potatoes and peanuts to the village office, chatting and laughing as they packed the goods. A farmer said,” Now our crops can go to cities far away—this was impossible before!” An express truck came to the village for the first time. Villagers thanked Wang Lei warmly. This summer, Wang Lei used technology to connect his hometown to the outside world—proving technology can bring new hope to the villagers.

C. He wrote to his friends to ask them to buy products.
D. He opened online shops and introduced the products.
8. What is most likely to happen to the villagers in the future?
A. The villagers will stop growing potatoes and peanuts.
B. More villagers will use technology to improve life.
C. The villagers will refuse new technology later.

①At the 2026 Spring Festival Gala, a creative singing and dancing show called Ode to the Flower Deities (贺花神) amazed the audience. It was not just a performance; it was a beautiful mix of ancient Chinese culture and technology.
②The show’s idea came from a treasure in the Palace Museum—a white jade pendant (玉佩).Twelve flowers were carved on this pendant, each representing (代表) a month of the lunar year. In Chinese tradition, these flowers are connected to twelve “Flower Gods”, who are often famous historical figures (人物). For example, the poet Tao Yuanming, who loved the chrysanthemum (菊花), became the Flower God for the 9th lunar month. Another poet, Lin Bu, who loved plum blossoms (梅花), was linked to the 1st lunar month. The show brought these ancient characters to life.
③But how did the show create such a magical world on stage? The answer lies in technology. For the first time, the production team used a special AI technology called AIGC (AI-generated content, AI 生成的内容) to create amazing stage effects. This AI could generate lifelike animals, like flying cranes (鹤) and butterflies. It could also change the whole stage environment in an instant (立刻). Imagine a snowy winter scene (场景) turning into a field of spring flowers right before your eyes.
④One of the biggest challenges was mixing the real performers with the AI-generated world so perfectly. The team worked extremely hard. The show was a perfect example of how technology can help tell ancient stories in a new and exciting way, making our traditional culture feel fresh and alive for a new generation.
13. Where did the idea for the show Ode to the Flower Deities come from?
A. A famous poet. B. A white jade pendant.
C. A beautiful flower. D. A Spring Festival story.
14. The underlined word “lifelike” probably means “________”.
A. looking like real life B. being very friendly C. moving very fast D. feeling very soft
15. What could the AIGC technology do on stage according to Paragraph 3?
A. It could sing and dance like people.
B. It could change the stage environment quickly.
C. It could carve flowers on a white jade pendant.
D. It could help poets write new poems.
16. What is the best title for the text?
A. Old stories and new technology B. The history of the Spring Festival Gala
C. How to protect old things in the museum D. A magic show with real flowers

The 2026 World Table Tennis Championships (锦标赛) will be held in London from April 28 to May10. It is a very special event because it marks the 100th anniversary (周年纪念日) of the first World Table Tennis Championships, which also took place in London in 1926. This time, 64 men’s teams and 64 women’s teams from around the world will compete, making it the largest competition in history.
As the defending champion (卫冕冠军), the Chinese team faced great challenges. In the group stage (在小组赛阶段), the men’s team lost to South Korea and Sweden, which made their fans worried. However, they performed much better in the knockout stages (淘汰赛阶段). In the men’s final, the Chinese team beat the Japanese team 3-0, winning its 12th consecutive (连续的) men’s team title. The women’s team also defeated Japan 3-2, securing the seventh straight women’s team title.
Table tennis is our national sport in China. It is not only fun to play but also helps us stay healthy and develop teamwork. The 2026 London Championships show that Chinese table tennis is still strong, and I hope to learn from the players—to work hard and never give up in my studies and life.

Dear Eric,
How is everything going? I’d love to share my experience of school hands-on activities with you.
Last week, I took part in a traditional paper-cutting activity. Our teacher taught us step-by-step instructions patiently. I carefully cut the red paper and finally made an exquisite paper flower. It was truly amusing and time-honored. Through this meaningful activity, I deeply experienced the unique charm of Chinese traditional folk culture and felt a strong sense of achievement when I held my finished work in my hands. I really enjoyed every single minute of it, and this unforgettable craft experience made my weekend warm and perfect. I even stuck my paper-cut flower on my bedroom window.
Looking forward to your reply.
Yours,
Li Hui
