真题再现
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Emily Sanders, a 25-year-old from Detroit, Michigan, set out on December 23rd with high hopes of reaching Toronto to meet her boyfriend for Christmas. Although she had heard warnings about an approaching snowstorm, she didn't give it much thought. She assumed that much like in Michigan, police would simply detour(使绕道)traffic around any closed sections of the highway. But that didn't happen. As the snow came down more and more heavily, Emily was directed off the highway. She drove on for a while and found herself on an unfamiliar road toward a Canadian town.
The blinding whiteout made driving nearly impossible. At one point, Emily's car got stuck. After a struggle, she managed to free the vehicle and continued inching along the snow-covered road. As night fell, panic set in. While Emily was driving on a narrow stretch of road, her car slid into a ditch(沟).
She tried to call for help but found no signal on her phone. Seeing no hope of immediate rescue, Emily decided to spend the night in her car. She wrapped herself in a blanket, waiting for morning. To stay warm, she ran her engine for a few minutes every now and then. Eventually, she fell asleep.
Emily awoke to a gentle knock on her car window. Standing outside were Daniel and his wife Rachel, who noticed the stranded(被困的)vehicle on their way home and stopped to see if they could help. When Emily rolled down the window, Rachel asked if she was okay and told her it was not safe to stay overnight in the car. With genuine warmth in her voice, Rachel said they could take Emily to a nearby cafe they knew. Grateful and relieved, Emily accepted the offer.
In the cafe, the couple bought Emily a hot chocolate and listened patiently as she explained her desperate situation: she was about a hundred miles from her destination, her car was completely stuck, and her entire holiday plan could be ruined.
注意:
(1)续写词数应为 150 个左右;
(2)请按如下格式在答题纸的相应位置作答。
Paragraph 1: Daniel and Rachel suggested that Emily continue her journey by train.
Paragraph 2: Three days later, Emily returned to get her car.
权威解析
【答案】One possible version:
Daniel and Rachel suggested that Emily continue her journey by train. Realizing the wisdom in their advice, Emily agreed without hesitation. The kind couple immediately drove her to the local station and even helped her purchase a ticket. Wrapped in their thick coats, Emily boarded the train, her heart filled with immense gratitude. Hours later, she finally arrived in Toronto. Walking onto the platform, she was instantly enveloped in her boyfriend’s tight embrace, tears of joy and relief welling up in her eyes as she recounted her perilous adventure and the heartwarming rescue by strangers.
Three days later, Emily returned to get her car. The fierce storm had completely passed, leaving the streets blanketed in sparkling white snow. With the assistance of local police and tow truck drivers, her vehicle was successfully pulled out of the ditch. Holding a small gift box, Emily visited Daniel and Rachel’s home to express her heartfelt thanks. They smiled warmly, insisting that helping others was simply what neighbors do. This unforgettable experience taught Emily a profound lesson: while reckless love can lead to danger, the unexpected kindness of strangers can melt the coldest winter.

身体改善(chest pain faded, heart returned to properage)回应前文警告;心理转变(genuinely enjoyed the mornings)与开篇对深夜的迷恋形成对照;学业进步(grades improved)提供额外收获;结尾以 listen before your body screams点明主题,富有哲理,余韵悠长。

满分范文
范文一
Daniel and Rachel suggested that Emily continue her journey by train. Knowing Emily was anxious to meet her boyfriend, they offered to accompany her to the station first. On the way, they comforted her and shared tips about the trip ahead. After sending Emily onto the train, they bid her farewell warmly and wished her a wonderful Christmas. Sitting on the warm train, Emily felt all her worries fade away. She reached Toronto on time and spent a joyful Christmas with her boyfriend.
Three days later, Emily returned to get her car. Her boyfriend came along with her to help. To their great surprise, a set of snow-clearing tools was placed beside the ditch. It must have been Daniel and Rachel who left them here. With these practical tools, they efficiently cleared the surrounding snow and worked together to pull the car out. Emily was profoundly touched by the couple’s silent and thoughtful kindness. This unexpected warmth turned her terrible snowstorm experience into a precious and unforgettable Christmas memory.
范文二
Daniel and Rachel suggested that Emily continue her journey by train. They also assured her that they would tow her car out of the ditch and have their trusted mechanic thoroughly check it in their garage. Comforted by their profound kindness, Emily agreed with immense gratitude. Later, the warm-hearted couple drove her to the railway station, where Rachel pressed a bag of homemade cookies into her hands for the journey. As the train pulled away from the snowy platform, Emily watched their warm smiles fading into the distance, her anxiety and desperation replaced by a newfound sense of security. Obviously, her holiday plan was saved by the couple!
Three days later, Emily returned to get her car. The weather had cleared, painting a peaceful, bright scene over the once stormy landscape. Arriving at the couple's garage as prearranged, she was met by her previously stranded vehicle, now cleaned and thoroughly checked. A note tucked under the wiper, written in Rachel's graceful hand, simply read: “Safe travels. Merry Christmas.” Overcome with emotion, Emily found Daniel and Rachel inside. They brushed aside her monetary thanks with the same genuine warmth, saying it was their pleasure to help. Indeed, the couple's random act of generosity transformed Emily's moment of crisis into her most enduring memory of the Christmas season.
范文三
Daniel and Rachel suggested that Emily continue her journey by train. “By train?” Her eyes widened in sheer disbelief. Sensing her doubt, the couple broke into a warm, reassuring smile and explained gently, “We mean we’ll take care of your car.” Looking up, Emily met their sincere and comforting eyes, which were like a ray of sunlight piercing through thick dark clouds, wrapping her in unexpected warmth. Taking their advice, she boarded a train and was finally reunited with her boyfriend as she had wished. Later, as she shared the whole story with him, they both agreed to prepare some gifts to repay their kindness.
Three days later Emily returned to get her car. To her absolute amazement, it had not only been pulled free from where it was trapped but also fully repaired. Seeing the fully restored car, she found herself completely lost for words. Clumsily, she handed the pre-prepared gifts to Daniel. Then she stepped toward Rachel and pulled her into a tight embrace. “Thank you so much!” she exclaimed, “You two are truly angels to me!” The couple broke into broad, toothy smiles. “It’s no big deal,” they said lightly. To this day, though the couple’s faces have gradually blurred in her memory, the warmth of their selfless kindness remains deeply engraved in her heart — a lasting reminder to always lend a hand to those in need.
范文四
Daniel and Rachel suggested that Emily continue her journey by train. This unexpected suggestion instantly breathed new life into her desperate situation. The hospitable couple explained that a local railway station was just blocks away, and the trains were still running normally despite the harsh weather. Not only did they drive Emily to the platform, but they also promised to call a local towing service to help move her trapped car. Relieved and deeply moved, Emily boarded the train just in time, watching the snow-covered town fade into the distance with her festive hope restored.
Three days later, Emily returned to get her car. The fierce blizzard had finally given way to brilliant sunshine, bathing the quiet town in warmth. Upon arrival, she was relieved to find her vehicle already safely parked and completely cleared of snow. Having invited Daniel and Richard to that very cafe beforehand, Emily met the couple to express her heartfelt gratitude and presented them with a box of chocolates as a token of appreciation. They smiled warmly and wished her a safe trip home. While driving back along the clear highway, Emily realized that though the storm had disrupted her schedule, the strangers’ unexpected warmth was the most unforgettable Christmas gift.

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
It was a regular Saturday morning, just like any other. I was driving my nine-year-old daughter, Emma, to her weekly swimming lesson. Recently, Emma had started seeing me as a true hero who could solve any problem fairly. “You always know what’s right, Dad,” she would say. We were talking about her class when I noticed a crowd up ahead and had to slow down.
People were gathered on the street, pointing and laughing. In the middle of it all was a large brown and white cow. It looked completely lost and terrified. Some kids were shouting nearby, which seemed to scare the animal even more. A strong feeling of anger rose inside me. These people were treating the poor creature’s fear as entertainment.
“Dad, that cow is scared.” Emma said softly from the back seat. “What would you do?” Her question was serious. She believed I would do the right thing. “Well,” I said, trying to sound confident for her, “I would calm it down and help it find its way home.” I explained that I knew a lot about cows. I spent my childhood on a farm, and now I even worked at a beef processing plant. I was sure my experience would impress Emma. After dropping off a very impressed Emma, I turned my car around. I felt it was my duty to go back and help.
When I returned, the scene was worse. I learned from a shop owner that the cow had been wandering for a while, knocking over a fruit stand and causing quite a bit of trouble. I took a slow, careful step towards the animal, speaking in a gentle voice. However, instead of calming down, the cow lowered its head and let out a threatening sound. It stared directly at me, full of hostility. My confidence faded, replaced by a sudden fear. This wasn’t going to be easy at all.

【答案】
Just as I was about to turn and run, two police officers arrived on the scene. They stepped out of their patrol car calmly, holding a thick rope in hand. I hurried to share my childhood farm experience with them, and we made a quick plan to cooperate. One officer slowly circled the cow to distract it, keeping his movements gentle to avoid scaring it again. I seized the chance to approach from the side, whispering soft words like I used to do to calm the cows on my old farm. Little by little, the cow’s tense body relaxed, its threatening lowing faded, and it even blinked at me gently.
After we managed to secure the cow to a tree, we began to discuss what to do with it. Luckily, a farmer passing by recognized the cow immediately — it was his. He thanked us profusely, explaining that the cow had broken free from the fence early that morning and gone missing. When I picked up Emma after her lesson, I told her every detail of the rescue. Her face lit up with admiration: “Dad, you’re really my hero!” That day, I understood that heroism isn’t about being fearless, but about summoning courage to do what’s right even when scared.

My wife and I wanted to share our new home with family and friends by hosting a small gathering in the early summer. She had prepared lots of snacks, while my job was to have the backyard in order.
There was plenty of space for the kids to run and play. There was just one thing I hadn’t counted on: My brother chose to bring his dog Toby, a 50-pound ball of fire. Though friendly, he could easily knock over my niece’s small boys and my six-month-old granddaughter. So, when my brother showed up, I asked him to watch Toby and keep him outside.
My plan was working out just fine. Toby was using up his energy by running back and forth in the backyard and giving the kids plenty of room. Unexpectedly, after supper, the weather changed. It started to rain and everyone went indoors.
It was an awkward moment. I didn’t want Toby to be running around in the house, and my brother wasn’t happy with driving home with a wet dog. Eventually, my brother decided to leave rather than force the issue.
A few days passed, and I hadn’t heard anything from my brother. I texted him and expressed wishes for him to come out again. His reply came as a surprise — a shock, actually: “Not a chance.” Clearly, he was unhappy over the way we had parted. After all, I had left him little choice. Well, he’ll get over it, I reasoned.
Two months passed. My wife suggested I get in touch with my brother, but I resisted, thinking he should call first. However, my conscience (良心) kept bothering me. I tried to put myself in my brother’s shoes. He was facing health issues and his wife of thirty-five years had passed away a few months earlier. Toby was his constant companion, the one who kept him going.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________【答案】
I realized it was me who was at fault. I had been so focused on keeping the party under control that I failed to consider how important Toby was to my brother during this difficult time. My pride had kept me from reaching out, and now months had passed without a proper conversation. One evening, I picked up the phone and left him a voice message, apologizing for my behavior and asking if we could meet. To my relief, he called back the next day, and we agreed to get together soon.
With the biscuits my wife had made, I arrived at my brother’s door. He opened it with a surprised smile, and for a moment, neither of us spoke. Then we hugged — something we hadn’t done since before his wife passed away. We sat on the porch with Toby resting beside us, and I handed him the box of biscuits. “Thank you,” he said quietly. We talked for hours, laughing, remembering old times, and slowly rebuilding what had been lost. As I watched Toby gently rest his head on my brother’s leg, I knew we were finally on the path to healing.

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
“What is your name? ” is a question most frequently asked when people meet for the first time. But for me, it was the first challenge I encountered as an international student in Ireland.
The pronunciation system of the Chinese language is quite different from that of English. For native speakers of English, some Chinese words are rather difficult to pronounce. My given name Qiuyu (秋雨), for instance, happened to be a great challenge for many of them. Every time I gave a self-introduction, I had to explain how to pronounce my name at least five times, yet they still could not say it the way I did.
Once in a lecture, the professor tried repeating my name after me over and over in front of thirty classmates. I really did not know whether I should continue correcting him or simply drop the matter. I feared that my classmates might grow tired of my efforts or even lose patience with me. After all, I did care about how others would think of me. I realized that if I didn’t stop, the entire lecture would be ruined. “It’s okay, professor,” I shrugged (耸肩). The awkward moment ended with the class erupting into laughter. I forced a smile, unsure how to respond further.
After that incident, I stopped acting as a “Chinese teacher.” Instead of correcting others when they were struggling to pronounce my name, I just smiled and nodded approvingly. This approach spared me the discomfort of having to over-explain. However, I soon found that by doing so, I might be losing something more important: the opportunity to share a small part of my cultural identity.

【答案】One possible version:
In a class discussion, I was invited to explain the meaning of my name. Standing up, I felt a mix of nervousness and excitement. “My name, Qiuyu, combines the characters for autumn and rain in Chinese,” I began, my voice steady. “Autumn represents harvest and maturity, while rain symbolizes nourishment and growth. Together, they embody a time of abundance and renewal.” As I spoke, I noticed the rapt attention of my classmates, their eyes reflecting curiosity and respect. It was a moment of connection, a bridge built between cultures through the simple act of sharing my name.
Many of my classmates got interested and came up to me after class. They surrounded me, their questions pouring out like a stream. “What other names have beautiful meanings in Chinese?” “Can you teach us how to write our names in Chinese characters?” I smiled, feeling a warmth spread through me. I took out a piece of paper and began to sketch out characters, explaining each stroke and its significance. Through this interaction, I realized that by embracing my cultural identity, I was not only preserving my heritage but also enriching the lives of those around me. It was a small yet meaningful step towards fostering cultural understanding and appreciation.

I met Gunter on a cold, wet and unforgettable evening in September. I had planned to fly to Vienna and take a bus to Prague for a conference. Due to a big storm, my flight had been delayed by an hour and a half. I touched down in Vienna just 30 minutes before the departure of the last bus to Prague. The moment I got off the plane, I ran like crazy through the airport building and jumped into the first taxi on the rank without a second thought.
That was when I met Gunter. I told him where I was going, but he said he hadn't heard of the bus station. I thought my pronunciation was the problem, so I explained again more slowly, but he still looked confused. When I was about to give up, Gunter fished out his little phone and rang up a friend. After a heated discussion that lasted for what seemed like a century, Gunter put his phone down and started the car.
Finally, with just two minutes to spare we rolled into the bus station. Thankfully, there was a long queue (队列) still waiting to board the bus. Gunter parked the taxi behind the bus, turned around, and looked at me with a big smile on his face. "We made it," he said.
Just then I realised that I had zero cash in my wallet. I flashed him an apologetic smile as I pulled out my Portuguese bankcard. He tried it several times, but the card machine just did not play along. A feeling of helplessness washed over me as I saw the bus queue thinning out.
At this moment, Gunter pointed towards the waiting hall of the bus station. There, at the entrance, was a cash machine. I jumped out of the car, made a mad run for the machine, and popped my card in, only to read the message: "Out of order. Sorry."

I ran back to Gunter and told him the bad news. He looked at me in disbelief, asking me what to do. Flashing him another apologetic smile, I begged him for a delayed payment. “If I miss this last bus to Prague, I’ll be late for the conference which is so important that I can’t afford to miss it!” I explained. “May I have your phone number? I will call you and return the money I owe you. I promise I will keep my word or you keep my watch!” I added, handing him my watch as well as my business card. Gunter accepted my business card but rejected my watch. He wrote down his phone number and gave it to me. “Just keep your promise, Sir.” A feeling of gratitude washed over me as I heard his words. Giving him a firm handshake, I jumped out of the car, made a mad run for the bus, and jumped onto it just before its departure.
Four days later, when I was back in Vienna, I called Gunter as promised. He picked me up at the bus station where he had dropped me off four days before. Beaming a warm smile at him, I gave him a big hug the moment I saw him. We chatted happily on the way to the airport. I told him that thanks to his generosity and timely help, everything had gone smoothly. When he stopped his taxi outside the airport, I paid him for the “double car ride”, back and forth from the airport to the bus station, together with a generous tip that he turned down. I also gave him an attractive souvenir I had bought at Prague, which he accepted with delight. We became good friends and kept in touch with each other regularly. I felt blessed to have such a warm-hearted friend like Gunter.

阅读下面材料, 根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段, 使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Eva spent the first week of high school trying to keep her head above water. One of the major headaches for her was finding her way in the huge school building. It was a six-story building. On each floor, hallways stretched in four directions, leading to classrooms, laboratories, and teachers’ offices. Somewhere in the building, there was also a library, a cafeteria, and a gym.
Having a poor sense of direction, Eva found it impossible to get around in such a huge building. All the different hallways and rooms were too much to think about, let alone commit to memory. She decided that she would memorize where her classes were and then pretend that the rest of the place didn’t exist.
In her first PE class, Eva was shocked when Coach Pitt announced that everyone had to run one mile around the track outside. She searched the faces of her classmates for signs of panic. There was nothing she feared more than having to run a whole mile. To Eva, “a mile” was used to describe long distances. It was ten miles from her home to her grandfather’s, and that always seemed like a long way, even in a car!
When Coach Pitt blew his whistle (哨子), Eva figured she would be left in the dust. However, while some of her classmates edged ahead, others actually fell behind. ” It’s just the beginning, “she thought.” I’ll come in last for sure. “
Soon Eva began to breathe hard, with her heart pounding and legs shaking. Feeling desperate, Eva started using a mind trick on herself. She stopped thinking about the word” mile. “Instead, she focused on reaching the shadow cast on the track by an oak tree up ahead. Then she concentrated on jogging to the spot where the track curved (拐弯). After that, she tried to see if she could complete her first lap. One lap turned into two, then three, then four.

Eva decided to use the same trick to deal with the school building.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】
When Coach Pitt said “Nice work!” to her at the finish line, Eva was surprised. In the vast expanse of her school, a girl with poor directional skills struggled to navigate and often got lost. One day, during gym class, she observed a unique way to find her way - following the shadows of trees. As the sun cast its rays, the girl noticed how the shadows created patterns on the ground, guiding her path. She took a leap of faith and followed the shadows, surprising herself with each turn and stretch. Her efforts were noticed by the teacher, who praised her innovative thinking.
Eva decided to use the same trick to deal with the school building. She used the shadows to navigate the school hallways, find her classes, and even locate the school's various facilities. This newfound skill not only helped the girl navigate her school but also instilled in her a sense of confidence and adventure. She learned excitedly that with a little creativity and observation, any challenge could be overcome. And with each step she took, she left behind a legacy of inspiration for those who followed in her footsteps, knowing that even without a clear sense of direction, there's always a way to find one's way.

阅读下面材料, 根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段, 使之构成一篇完整的短文。
When I was in middle school, my social studies teacher asked me to enter a writing contest. I said no without thinking. I did not love writing. My family came from Brazil, so English was only my second language. Writing was so difficult and painful for me that my teacher had allowed me to present my paper on the sinking of the Titanic by acting out a play, where I played all the parts. No one laughed harder than he did.
So, why did he suddenly force me to do something at which I was sure to fail? His reply: “Because I love your stories. If you’re willing to apply yourself, I think you have a good shot at this.” Encouraged by his words, I agreed to give it a try.
I chose Paul Revere’s horse as my subject. Paul Revere was a silversmith (银匠) in Boston who rode a horse at night on April 18, 1775 to Lexington to warn people that British soldiers were coming. My story would come straight from the horse’s mouth. Not a brilliant idea, but funny; and unlikely to be anyone else’s choice.
What did the horse think, as he sped through the night? Did he get tired? Have doubts? Did he want to quit? I sympathized immediately. I got tired. I had doubts. I wanted to quit. But, like Revere’s horse, I kept going. I worked hard. I checked my spelling. I asked my older sister to correct my grammar. I checked out a half dozen books on Paul Revere from the library. I even read a few of them.
When I handed in the essay to my teacher, he read it, laughed out loud, and said, “Great. Now, write it again.” I wrote it again, and again and again. When I finally finished it, the thought of winning had given way to the enjoyment of writing. If I didn’t win, I wouldn’t care.

When I was invited to the stage to receive the award, I expressed my thanks to my teacher. I said, “It’s you who make me fall in love with writing, my social studies teacher. Without your recognition and guidance, I couldn’t have written this article. Again thank you very much!”
I went to my teacher’s office after the award presentation. My teacher was waiting for me. Holding my hands, he said “Congratulations! You are a good writer, so keep writing.” “You know I didn’t like writing before, but now I am crazy about it! I will try my best to create good works.” I said seriously. Since then, I have written many good works and now I am a famous writer. I owe my success to my social teacher who is a beacon in my life on the road to writing.

It was a terrifying scene. One sunny afternoon, thick black smoke suddenly began billowing (翻腾) from The Dog Resort, a popular dog daycare center in Seattle, where dog owners leave their pets during work hours. Inside, more than one hundred panicked pups were barking, crying, and running wildly in every direction. The fire had started in the kitchen, and within minutes, the building was filled with choking smoke. The dogs, many of them small and frightened, scratched (挠) at the doors and windows, desperately looking for a way out.
The fire department had been called, but the nearest engine was still minutes away. Every second felt like an hour. That was when the employees and neighboring businesses decided to take action themselves. They could not wait — and they would not stand by.
Workers from Hellbent Brewing Company rushed outside with wire cutters and gloves. Without hesitation, they cut a large hole in the wooden fence separating the two buildings. Then, one by one, they gently pulled the frightened dogs through the opening. Within ten minutes, they had led 35 dogs safely into their bar, where they offered the trembling animals bowls of cool water and gentle pats on the head.
At the same time, a team quickly loaded 27 dogs onto the back of a pickup truck. They covered the truck bed with soft blankets and drove carefully to their repair offices, checking every few seconds to make sure none of the dogs jumped out. Other businesses joined in as well. Strangers became teammates. Everyone worked together without a single word of disagreement.
Astonishingly, when the firefighters finally arrived, all 115 dogs had already been rescued. Not a single one was injured. The firefighters quickly put out the fire. They were amazed at the swift and selfless teamwork.

【答案】
Hours after the fire was put out, the dog owners rushed to the scene. Having witnessed everything at the scene, their eyes widened in disbelief — rows of dogs lay calmly on blankets outside the bar and the repair shop, safe and sound. Then came the reunion. Owners called out names, and dogs barked back, wagging their tails wildly. A young woman knelt down, arms open wide as her little poodle ran straight into her embrace. A tall man laughed, tears streaming down his face, while his golden retriever jumped up to lick his cheek. One after another, dogs and owners found each other in joyful chaos.
When the last dog was back with its owner, the rescuers stepped back and looked at each other. Their faces were tired but carried quiet smiles. No one spoke, yet something passed between them — a shared understanding that needed no words. They had not acted for praise or reward. They had simply seen a need and answered it, without hesitation. As the sounds of happy tears and grateful thanks filled the air around them, one rescuer whispered, “That’s why we did it.” In that small moment, they all knew: heroes are not the ones who wait for applause, but the ones who step forward when others step back.

Mike was an 11 years old boy. He was the only son to his parent. His father worked as a carpenter and his mother was a home maker. Although Mike’s family wasn’t a rich one, they led a happy and fulfilling life.
Mike’s school was located a mile away from his home. Mike’s birthday was coming up in a week. He requested his father to buy him a bicycle, so that he can go to school in cycle. His father also promised him to buy a bicycle so that his son need not walk to school anymore. Hearing this, Mike felt so happy and joyful.
The birthday boy woke up happily with his mother and father wishing him with all smiles on his birthday. Mike was feeling very happy and expects that his father would gift him the bicycle. However, his father gifted him a beautiful parcel which was wrapped nicely and Mike saw a set of books as the birthday gift from his father. Although he was a little unhappy as he did not receive the bicycle, he thanked his father.
Mike’s father was depressed as he did not have enough money to buy a new cycle as his son’s birthday gift. He promised to his son that he would buy him a cycle in the near future.
After a week, when he was walking on his way to his home back from school, he saw a boy riding a cycle. Mike felt that the cycle was too small for the big boy. Suddenly, the boy crashed into a post and fell down in the street. Mike rushed to him and recognized him. He was his school mate, named Sam.
Sam was injured badly and there was no one near to help him except Mike. Mike helped him stand up and provided him water. Since Sam was riding the cycle fast, his left leg and hands were severely injured. He asked him to sit in a corner and took the cycle and rushed to a nearby hospital to get help. An ambulance came and carried Sam to the hospital.

【答案】
An ambulance came and carried Sam to the hospital. Mike stayed until Sam’s parents arrived, his heart still pounding from the incident. Sam and his parents thanked Mike for the timely help, with their voice full of gratitude. Because of this accident, Mike and Sam became close friends. Mike met Sam every day in hospital until he was discharged. Days later, Sam got a new cycle and he came to know that Mike didn’t own a cycle. Therefore, he gave his old cycle to Mike with his parents’ permission.
Mike accepted the gift from Sam. It was the same cycle that Sam had been riding when the accident happened. Although it showed signs of wear, it was still a perfectly good bicycle — and now, it belonged to him. Mike couldn’t stop thanking Sam and his parents for their kindness. When Mike rode the bicycle home, his heart swelled with pride and happiness. His parents were deeply moved by the story and praised Mike for his bravery and compassion. His father placed a warm hand on his shoulder and said, “Sometimes, things we want the most come to us in unexpected ways.”

It was the New Year’s Eve. John was driving to his grandparents’ home in Missouri when the snow started falling, thick and fast. Soon the unexpected snowstorm coated central Missouri in inches of snow. Suddenly his car slid off an icy road and into a ditch (沟渠).
John tried to stay calm, taking deep long breaths. He was safe, unharmed. But his car was another story – it had died. What’s worse, his mobile phone was out of power. He figured it would be dangerous to stay in the car as the snow continued to settle. John glanced around, and found that on the opposite side of the road there was a light up on a hill.
John started up the hill, hoping the light indicated the owner of the home was inside. John got closer and knocked on the door, but no one answered. John turned the door knob. It opened. The door was unlocked. John entered the house, calling out “hello,” only to be greeted with silence. There was clearly no one home.
He realized the roads were unsafe, so he made up his mind: He was going to stay in the farmhouse for the night. He felt slightly guilty about this decision — he was breaking and entering, but he meant no harm. He wrote a note explaining who he was and why he was there, just in case he fell asleep on the sofa before the owners returned. He fished out some cash and placed it next to the note on the kitchen table, as a thank you.
He had just finished writing the note when he heard someone’s voices. Then the door opened, and in came a couple. For a moment, they were all in shock.

【答案】范文:
John gathered up his courage to speak. “I’m John — so sorry for breaking in uninvited!” he stammered, gesturing to the note and cash on the table. “My car slid into the ditch in the snowstorm, phone died, and I had nowhere else to go.” The couple’s shock melted into smiles as they read the note. “Don’t worry about it – you did the right thing to stay safe,” the husband said warmly. John felt relieved and grateful for their kindness. Before long, the couple offered a hearty dinner, insisting John was absolutely welcome to stay overnight.
The next morning, the couple accompanied John to his car. They attached ropes to the car and pulled together. With their joint effort, they slowly pulled the car out of the mud and ice. To John’s relief, the car started successfully after the rescue. John insisted on doubling the cash as a thank-you, but the couple refused and said “Just pass on the kindness someday.” John carried the memory of their generosity with him as he joined his grandparents for New Year lunch, grateful for coming across such understanding people.

The Warmth in the Heavy Snow
Last Saturday, a record-breaking snowstorm swept across New York City without warning. The wind roared like a wounded beast, its icy breath tearing through the streets and shaking every window. Snowflakes poured down from the gray sky, covering the tall buildings and making them hard to see clearly. People could almost see nothing. The city that never sleeps fell into an icy silence — every street, road and rooftop all buried under thick snow, which looked bright in the weak light.
I woke up with an empty stomach, only to find the fridge was completely empty too: no milk for coffee, no bread for toast, not an even single egg left. When I checked the cupboard, there was nothing left inside. I knew I had to go shopping at once, or I’d be stuck without basic supplies for the rest of the storm. But when I tried to open the front door, it wouldn’t move even an inch. Heavy snow had gathered up tightly against the door all night, forming a hard wall that locked me inside. I pushed and pulled many times. My shoulders ached and I was out of breath. But all my efforts were in vain. The snow held firm, blocking me from the outside world.
Staring out of the window helplessly, I watched the snow flying wildly in the terribly cold wind. Travel bans (出行禁令) had shut down almost all traffic across the city, and there was no sign of people on the street. A wave of fear and anxiety swept over me, cold and sharp as the wind outside. My parents were working far away in another state, and the phone lines had gone dead hours ago, so I had no way to reach anyone for help. Just as I sat on the floor hopeless and alone, a weak but clear knock on the door broke the terrible silence.

【答案】范文
“Hello? Is anybody in?” It was Mrs. Wilson, my next-door neighbor. I yelled at the top of my voice to tell her that I was trapped inside. Hearing my cry for help, she comforted me and told me to stay calm. Then she promised to ask more neighbors for help at once. It was only a few minutes, but it felt like centuries. Finally, several kind neighbors rushed over with shovels, brooms and brushes. Despite the biting cold, they worked together to clear the snow beside my door bit by bit.
After twenty minutes of hard work, the door was finally opened. I stepped out with tears of gratitude rolling down my cheeks. Their faces were red with cold, but gentle smiles were on their lips. Mrs. Wilson handed me a cup of steaming tea, warming my hand and heart instantly. Some neighbors also offered to clean my yard and share some food with me. On that freezing snowy day in New York, I truly felt the warmth of the neighborhood. The heavy snow could freeze the whole city, but it could never freeze the kindness between people, reminding me that love and care are always around us.

My three-year-old brother Cody, and I, aged six, were in the back seat when the snowstorm started. Fat clumps (簇) of white, like a million cotton balls, landed on our car and stuck there. Unlike our usual chatty trips, the car was quiet. Cody had a high fever at Grandma’s house that afternoon. Grandma lived in a remote village with no easy medical help, so we had to rush back to the city to see a doctor. In the hour since we’d left Grandma’s house, the weather was worse.
“It’s getting harder to see anything,” Dad whispered to Mom.
Mom nodded, glancing back at Cody worriedly. “The forecast mentioned snow showers, but this looks more serious.”
I pressed my face against the cold window. A car followed us closely behind. On the passenger seat was a medical kit with a faint white cross. Doctors often use such bags for home visits, but I didn’t know the driver was a doctor then.
Suddenly, our car slid to the side. My heart pounded. Dad managed to straighten the wheel and stay on the road. “We need to drive off and wait out this storm. Cody will get worse in this condition. But I can barely see the road, let alone an exit,” Dad said.
“Dad, a sign!” I shouted. High in the sky, the sign of a restaurant blinked (闪烁): EAT HERE.
“Are you sure, Kenny?” Dad asked and slowly pulled over to check.
Then, through the thick snow, I saw the lights of that car coming up behind us. It slowed down and stopped aside ours. Its window rolled down. “Need help?” The driver leaned out and asked.
“Do you know how to get there?” Dad pointed to the sign and said urgently.

“I’m heading there, too. Follow me!” He shouted. The driver drove slowly ahead, flashing his lights to guide us through the thick snow. Thanks to his guidance, we smoothly found the exit and pulled into the restaurant’s parking lot. Upon arriving, Dad immediately carried Cody inside. “Without your help, I can’t imagine what would have happened,” Dad said in a trembling voice. “My younger son is suffering from a high fever.” Hearing this, the driver replied calmly, “Don’t worry. I am a doctor.” Then he went out and returned with his medical kit.
Immediately, the driver opened his medical kit and checked Cody. He took Cody’s temperature, checked his chest and looked at his throat with a flashlight. The whole process witnessed his professional and considerate care for my sick brother. Finally, he gave Cody some medicine and said, “The medicine will work soon. He will be fine.” Hearing what he said, we were greatly relieved and grateful. Despite the cold snow outside, warmth flowed through our hearts. It was that night that I realized kindness can melt even the heaviest snowstorm.

Lincoln’s parents, Elissa and Jamie Hanley, were watching television in their Peterborough, England home one afternoon when a documentary about homelessness came on the air. As the Hanleys watched the program, they noticed their three-year-old son, Lincoln, paying close attention from his seat on the floor.
Though Lincoln was normally full of energy, running around and playing, the documentary seemed to hold his attention. The images of homelessness deeply affected the young boy, and by the time the program ended, Lincoln made it his mission to help those in need. He was particularly moved by a homeless woman and her dog, which led him to ask questions about their situation. Lincoln’s concern for their lack of food and shelter grew stronger as he thought about how they were living. He became focused on the idea of feeding people in need, feeling a strong desire to take action.
Elissa and Jamie were surprised that Lincoln, at such a young age, had understood the significance of the issue and felt driven to act. But they both fully supported their son’s newfound empathy (共情). “It was all Lincoln’s idea,” said Elissa. “We’ve not worked with homeless people before and when he wanted to do it we said ‘go for it’. We wanted to encourage him. He just wanted to feed the people and the dogs.”
Without hesitation, that very day, Lincoln’s parents gave him £20. Jamie, who was equally impressed by his son’s compassion (同情心), took him to the local market to pick up bread, sandwich meat, sweets, and dog food. They selected fresh ingredients (食材), with Lincoln carefully picking out items he thought would help others. Once they returned home, they made sandwiches, heated soup, and packed everything to deliver to the city center the next day.

Lincoln’s journey of giving didn’t end with food sharing; he was already planning ahead.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________【答案】One possible version:
However, a sudden snowstorm swept through their town the next morning. Streets quickly became impassable, and transportation came to a standstill. But Jamie, determined to continue their effort, decided they would walk to the city center, no matter the conditions. Dressed in warm clothes, the family set off on foot, carrying bags of sandwiches and sweets, and hot soup in containers. Along the way, Lincoln eagerly approached people, asking if they wanted any food. His excitement and belief in the power of giving only grew stronger, even as the storm tore through the area.
Lincoln’s journey of giving didn’t end with food sharing; he was already planning ahead. In addition to providing meals to the local homeless, he was planning to give out warm hats, gloves, and scarves for the upcoming winter months. His parents, impressed by his ongoing compassion, are confident that Lincoln will always be the kind of person who seeks ways to help others, no matter where life takes him. This three-year-old serves as a powerful reminder: regardless of age or resources, there’s always something we can do to make a difference. Kindness can come from anyone, even the youngest among us.

Rosa and Eddie Hernandez huddled (挤在一起) close to the TV and listened carefully to the voice of the news announcer.
“The blizzard (暴风雪) is one of the biggest snowstorms in New York City history! Tremendous (巨大的) amounts of snow and terrible weather conditions caused the city’s subway system to shut down yesterday from Wall Street to Spanish Harlem. Parents are even forbidding their children to go outside because it is so dangerous. The weather forecast for today predicts (预测) that the snow will stop. In the meantime, Mayor’s (市长的) message to all New Yorkers is this: Help each other in the face of this disaster.”
“Oh, Mama!” whispered Rosa. “Will Papa ever get home from work?”
Mama gave Rosa a big hug. “He must be stuck at work and unable to get home,” she said. “He is stranded (滞留), but don’t worry. The snow is slowing down now, and I’m sure he will make it home soon.” Mama went into the kitchen to make lunch, but she found they were out of milk and bread. She came out carrying her coat and scarf. She told Rosa and Eddie she had to try to get to Maria’s Market, whose owner, Mrs. Sanchez, was a kind old lady.
Rosa and Eddie jumped up and begged to go with her. Mama had kept them inside for two days because it was snowing too hard to go out. But Mama refused, because it was too cold outside. Rosa and Eddie knew they shouldn’t argue with Mama, but they were tired of being indoors. They begged again and again. Finally Mama agreed to take them, but she asked them to stick together and to stay close to each other.
Mama helped Rosa and Eddie put on their uncomfortable, but warm, wool clothes. When they got outside, they were astonished and amazed to find a wall of snow several feet high! Luckily, their neighbor Mr. Colon arrived with two metal shovels (铲). “Who wants to help dig out?” he asked.

Mama, Rosa, and Eddie took turns shoveling snow. It was hard work, but no one complained. When they were done, they looked across the street. Maria’s Market was still snowed in. Mrs. Sanchez was trying to clear the snow with a small broom. Rosa suggested giving Mrs. Sanchez a hand and she borrowed Mr. Colon’s shovels again. Shoveling the walk in front of the store was easy. It was a piece of cake for Rosa and Eddie.
Mrs. Sanchez was grateful for their help. She gave them milk and bread from her store as thanks. As Rosa and Eddie crossed the snowy street with Mama to go home, they heard a deep, familiar voice, saying “Is that my Rosa and Eddie?” “Papa!” they shouted and ran over to him. Rosa told him breathlessly about how they helped Mr. Colon and Mrs. Sanchez. Papa said it was such a relief and a comfort to finally be home, and he was so proud of them for helping their neighbors.

At 7:30 a. m. on Christmas Eve, Ivy White got a call from an unknown number. “Hi. You don’t know me, but I have your brother.” It was Sha’ Kyra Aughtry, a Buffalo resident who had rescued Ivy’s brother, Joey White, amid the deadly winter storm.
Joey, then 64, was mentally disabled. Before the storm hit the city, Ivy called Joey and instructed him not to leave his group home where he lives. But as Buffalo’s worst blizzard(暴风雪)in almost 50 years struck the city, Joey ventured outside.
It’s unclear what purpose Joey had for leaving home. He braved the snowstorm and walked a considerable distance before finally stopping outside Aughtry’s house, just seven-minute drive from the North Park Theatre, where he had worked as a janitor since 1980. Before the blizzard hit, the theater’s manager had called Joey, telling him not to come to work. However, Joey was used to following a routine, and even during the pandemic when the theater was closed, he had shown up several times.
At around 6:30 a.m., Aughtry noticed a man standing helplessly in front of a snowbank from her balcony. He was crying out in pain. Aughtry went downstairs and tried to communicate with him, but he was too frightened to speak, continuing to shout uncontrollably. Aughtry had no choice but to return home and call her husband. Together, they went into the storm once more. After Aughtry spoke to him gently, assuring him he was safe, Joey’s cries softened, and began to calm down. With steady hands and reassuring words, Aughtry and her husband carefully guided him through the snow, step by step, until they finally brought him into the warmth of their home.
When they got back home, they carefully examined the poor old man’s condition. Having wandered in the storm, he was totally wet and couldn’t help trembling, his clothes frozen hard, his fingers and toes frozen numb without sensation. It was unclear how the man had managed to walk so far in the blizzard, but it was obvious he was terrified. No matter how they tried to ask him questions, he couldn’t utter a single word.

【答案】
“We should warm him up fast,” said Aughtry. She dashed into the bedroom and grabbed several thick blankets. Her husband, meanwhile, rushed to the kitchen to heat up a cup of milk. They gently laid Joey on the couch and covered him snugly with the blankets. Aughtry sat beside him, stroking his hair and speaking softly. As the warmth seeped in, Joey’s shivering lessened bit by bit. Aughtry’s sons peeked around the corner, their eyes filled with concern and curiosity. One of them summoned up the courage to come closer and offer Joey a small, friendly smile.
“It is a phone number that he said,” one of the boys said. Aughtry’s eyes widened in excitement. She quickly grabbed a notepad and a pen from the table. “Say it again, slowly,” she urged Joey. With great effort, Joey repeated the number. Aughtry dialed the number immediately, her hands shaking slightly. After a few rings, Ivy picked up. Aughtry briefly explained the situation. Ivy’s voice trembled with relief and gratitude on the other end of the line. Within minutes, Ivy arrived at Aughtry’s doorstep. She rushed inside, her eyes brimming with tears. Seeing Joey safe and sound, she let out a sob of joy and hugged him tightly, then turned to Aughtry and her family, thanking them over and over again.

The boys were so excited and happy as we shopped all day before our doctor appointment at three that afternoon. My husband Charlie had the job of keeping them busy while I picked out gifts to put under the tree. We had purchased new coats, gloves, and snow boots for both boys and a pram suit for our little daughter. Charlie and I also had new warm winter coats. Our car was piled with gifts and food in the trunk and our old coats were in the back seat with the boys.
My wait was much longer than expected as the doctor had been called to an emergency at the hospital earlier in the day. I came out of the office to face a terrible snowstorm. The conditions were growing worse all the time. My husband was concerned as to our making it back to our country home about seven miles from town. He thought about us staying in a motel for the night and then decided we would try to make it home.
Half way there we found the road was drifted so deep and it drowned our car. Charlie got out and began the long walk to our home. He was going to bring our big truck back and pull the car home with it. There was nothing we could do but wait in the car.
I told stories and we sang nursery rhymes for what seemed like hours. I was getting more worried by the minute but did not want the children to know I was so scared. Finally, my youngest son John who was three climbed over into the front seat beside me and said, “Mommy, my daddy is gonna freeze to death out there. And we will freeze too.” I said. “No John, Daddy will be coming with the truck soon!” But the darkness and blowing snow was covering our car and made it impossible to see anything outside. Then in just a few minutes, I saw a man in a car coming our way.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________【答案】One possible version:
I heard the car stop right beside us. I kicked the frozen car door open to make him hear me as the window couldn’t roll down. Thankfully, he noticed us. After knowing what had happened, he began to help carry the children to the cab of his car. Then he started driving. We met my husband walking toward us about a mile ahead. He said he’d called everyone he knew to help us and they’d told him they would after the storm ended. Besides, our big truck was parked in another town by my brother. Finally, we’re all in the man’s car coming back home.
Along the way, the man told us he had never taken that road to go home before. He said, “When I got to the crossroads back there, I just felt I needed to come that way.” We were all grateful that the kind-hearted man was just in the right place at the right time. Ultimately, he took us to our door safely. We invited him to spend the night at our house, but he just refused and left. Since then, every Christmas we always made it a point to wish the man a Merry Christmas and thank him for his gift of his decision he made—“Where Two Ways Met”.

The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small, uninhabited island, his body battered by the rough waves and his clothes torn to rags. When he regained consciousness, he looked around in despair—endless blue sea surrounded the tiny island, with nothing but dry sand, scattered rocks and a few twisted palm trees in the distance. He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him. Every day at dawn, he would climb to the highest rock on the island, squinting his eyes to scan the distant horizon, hoping to catch a glimpse of a ship or a signal of help. But day after day, the sea remained calm and empty, and no sign of rescue seemed forthcoming, leaving him with only deep loneliness and growing hopelessness.
Exhausted both physically and mentally, he knew he couldn’t give up if he wanted to survive. He dragged his weak body to the shore, where he collected pieces of driftwood that had been washed ashore by the tide. He spent three whole days building a little hut. Inside the hut, he placed his few possessions—a crumpled blanket he had found on the beach, a small metal cup that had floated from the wreck, and a handful of dried fruit he had managed to gather. It was a humble shelter, but it was his only home on the desolate island, a tiny ray of hope in his desperate situation.
But then one day, after spending hours scavenging for food, he arrived home, tired but relieved to have found enough to eat for another day. However, the sight before him made his blood run cold: his little hut was engulfed in flames, the orange fire dancing wildly, and thick black smoke rolling up to the sky, darkening the bright afternoon sun. The heat was so intense that he had to step back, and he could smell the burning wood and the faint scent of his blanket turning to ash.
The worst had happened: everything was lost. His shelter, his few precious belongings—all gone in a matter of minutes. He stood there, stunned with grief and anger, his legs going weak. He fell to his knees, pounding the sand with his fists, and let out a heart-wrenching cry: "God, how could you do this to me! I’ve prayed so hard, I’ve tried so hard to survive—why do you take everything away from me?" His voice echoed across the empty island, but there was no answer, only the crackling of the fire and the sound of the waves crashing against the shore.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】One possible version:
As the fire died down, he sat in the ashes, staring blankly at the charred wood. Just as he was about to sink into complete despair, a faint sound of a ship’s horn drifted from the distance. He jumped up, rubbing his eyes in disbelief, and saw a small rescue ship approaching. The sailors told him they had spotted the thick smoke from the fire and come to check. At that moment, he realized the fire that had destroyed his home was the very signal that saved his life.
Later, back in his hometown, he often told this story. He realized that life’s misfortunes are never just misfortunes—they may be hidden blessings in disguise. Every loss, every setback, carries a silver lining. It is not God who abandons us, but we who fail to see the hope behind despair. True strength lies in not giving up when all seems lost, for the darkest moment is always before the dawn.

注意:
(1)续写词数应为 150 个左右;
(2)请按如下格式在答题纸的相应位置作答。
Paragraph 1: Daniel and Rachel suggested that Emily continue her journey by train.

Sorry."

At 7:30 a. m. on Christmas Eve, Ivy White got a call from an unknown number.
