根据前文“stop people aged 16 and under”(禁止 16 岁及以下人群)可知,这是限制措施,应用limiting“限制”。 Our lives are a story that goes on forever. It helps us understand life ____48____ (good) and appreciate every moment. We shouldn’t be afraid to share our feelings or ask questions. After all, death is a part of life, and understanding it can help us live ____49____ (wise). What about you? How ____50____ your culture view death? What do you believe? I encourage you to talk with your family or friends about it. You might be ____51____ (surprise) by what you learn. This tax was first introduced in April 2018 to get drink makers to use less sugar and to help consumers choose healthier products. Right now, it applies to drinks with 5 grams or more of sugar per 100 milliliters. But starting on Jan 1, 2028, the sugar limit will be reduced to 4.5 grams per 100 milliliters. Also, milk-based drinks will be included for the first time. Before, these drinks were free from tax if they had a lot of calcium. The move is part of the UK’s plan to fight obesity. According to World Atlas, the country is the seventh-biggest sugar consumer in the world. And more than 20 percent of 6th graders were obese in the 2023 — 2024 school year. The tax cut sugar in drinks by almost half from 2015 to 2024, so the UK government is hopeful about the new plan. They said that it would help prevent tooth decay, cancer and more. However, some questioned why the tax does not apply to other foods, such as candies. Many drink makers are upset that they will have to spend money in changing recipes and labels. 62. Why did the UK introduce the sugar tax? A. To increase the price of drinks. B. To reduce sugar in drinks and fight obesity. C. To encourage people to drink more milk. D. To support local drink makers. 63. What will change in 2028 according to the new plan? A. The tax will be removed. B. Milk drinks will be taxed for the first time. C. All foods will be included in the tax. D. The sugar limit will be raised to 5.5g/100ml. 64. What was one result of the sugar tax since 2015? A. Drink sales had dropped. B. Sugar in drinks had been cut by almost half. C. Obesity rates had increased. D. Milk consumption had risen. 65. What is the main idea of the last paragraph? A. Everyone supports the new tax. B. The tax has no effect on health. C. Some people are not satisfied with the tax. D. Drink makers are happy with the changes. 62. B 63. B 64. B 65. She thinks oysters are really helpful. They are environmental stars. “I knew nothing about oyster gardening when I started in 2022. During the oyster gardening season, Amy and her mom go to the beach. There Amy has nine cages. “Once a week I go out there,” she says. She pulls the cages from the water to check conditions of the oysters. This spring, Amy’s oysters will be big enough to be collected. Amy will go with Liz to pick them up. Oysters that are collected will then be “planted” on the reefs. So far, Amy has raised more than 1,500 oysters. 66. What is Amy’s opinion about oysters? A. They are delicious. B. They are harmful. C. B In Texas, the US, there’s a non-profit group called Girlstart. This holiday season, they’re making science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fun with their yearly DeSTEMber celebration. It’s a month-long event with hands-on activities in STEM for kids, especially girls. “Our mission is to help girls in STEM, and we do this through after-school programs, summer camps and community events,” said Girlstart’s IT specialist Kyla Kalugdan. DeSTEMber offers 31 days of creative STEM activities. Some activities can be done at home with common household items, while others are digital. There’s even a whole week focused on AI. For teachers, it’s a fun way to bring holiday-themed STEM learning into their lesson plans. Learn about AI. C The UK is expanding its sugar tax to include milk drinks and lower sugar limits.
