Like humans, sometimes animals also need to communicate (沟通) with each other. They communicate to tell each other where food is or to show how they feel. In fact, there are many ways for animals to do that.
The first and most usual way is by using the sound. For example, if the monkey sees a snake, it’ll give an alarm (警报) call for all the other monkeys to climb onto the trees. It means they’re in danger. Another example is the dolphin (海豚). Each dolphin has a special whistle (口哨声). This is similar to calling someone by his or her name. Scientists even think dolphins will whistle to talk to each other about a situation or the day’s events.
A second way animals communicate is through body language. For example, a pet dog will keep moving its tail when it is happy or excited. A scared cat will stand with its back high. Bees dance in patterns to tell other bees where and how far food is.
Another kind of animal communication is by touching. For example, giraffes will wrap their necks together if they like each other. Horses touch their noses together as a sign that they are comfortable with another horse. Some monkeys will touch their hands together to say “Hello”.
Next time you may watch carefully how two animals are communicating with each other when you meet them. It must be great fun.
31.The passage mentions some animals EXCEPT ______.
A.snakes B.monkeys C.dolphins D.zebras
32.According to the article, what can we learn?
A.Monkeys will give an alarm call to say “Hello”.

C.Dogs can’t use body language to communicate.
D.Horses will touch their noses if they don’t like each other.
33.How does the writer write this passage?

C.By giving examples. D.By using numbers.

B.how important it is for animals to communicate

D.when animals need to communicate with each other
B)短文还原
Scientists are using satellites to count Antarctic krill (南极磷虾) from space. These tiny creatures are just six centimetres long and look a bit like prawns (明虾), but they are more important. 36
Scientists need to watch and count krill so they can check the health of the places where these animals live. However, in the Southern Ocean, where they live, there are more than 700 trillion adult Antarctic krill. That’s like trying to count all the stars you see at night! 37 Even if we have special cameras and computers to help.
38 They study the colour of sea water from space. The amount of light the ocean absorbs changes depending on how many krill are in it. Dr Cait McCarthy, from the University of Strathclyde, said, “We start with sea water. Then we add a krill and take a measurement of how much light the water takes in. 39 ”
By comparing pictures taken by satellites, scientists will be able to guess how many krill live in different ocean areas. 40 This will also show how they’re spread across different areas and how climate change and fishing affect them.
A.So finding ways to count them all is a super hard task.
B.Then we add another krill and take another measurement.
C.They are food for lots of larger sea animals such as whales.
D.Now, scientists are developing a new method for finding krill.
E.Scientists find that more krill in the water make the ocean look darker.
F.This will give them a better idea of total krill numbers in the Southern Ocean.

The number of the polar bears is becoming smaller and smaller because of the loss of sea ice-polar bears mostly inhabit (居住于) the sea ice, not the land ice.

Dear Henry,
How is everything going? I like wild animals very much. I want to invite you to study my favourite animal with me.
My favourite wild animal is the giant panda. They mainly live in the bamboo forests in Sichuan, China. I like them best because they are not only very cute but also friendly to people. To study them better, we need to take a camera to take photos of them. A notebook is also necessary for us to write down what we see. However, pandas are in danger now. We should take action to protect them. First, we can help build more nature reserves. Second, we shouldn’t buy products made from wild animals.
I will be very happy if you can join me. Looking forward to seeing you soon.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua
