Why did the author…?
• What happened to…?
• What did the man do?
• Which of the following is TRUE?
What can we infer from the passage?
• How did the writer feel?
• What can we learn about…?
• It can be concluded that…
3. 警惕绝对化词汇:must, never, all, every,含这类词大概率错误。
The underlined word “___” means ______.
• What does the underlined sentence imply?
逻辑线索:用but/however(转折)、and/also(并列)判断词义褒贬。
What is the main idea of the passage?
• What does Paragraph 3 mainly talk about?
• What is the best title for the text?
3. 标题三原则:◦ 覆盖全文主线,不局限于某个细节;
◦ 贴合文章情感与主题;
典型干扰项:• 片面项:只描述故事某一个情节;
(1.5 min)
不逐字翻译,完成三件事:1. 标出核心人物、关键动作、情绪词;
2. 快速梳理故事脉络:起因→经过→结局;
按题型优先级做题:1. 先做细节题:定位原文,快速锁定答案;
2. 再做词义猜测题:结合上下文判断;
1. 推理题:检查是否选了原文原句、是否过度脑补;
2. 细节题:核对主语、时间、地点有无被偷换;
区分易混情绪:upset(失落) / disappointed(失望) / nervous(紧张) / moved(感动) / proud(自豪)。

Passage 1
On a cold winter afternoon, I walked into my high school art room, feeling completely defeated. I had just failed my third painting competition in a row. For months, I had practiced every day, adjusted my skills and studied from professional works, yet none of my efforts paid off. I was convinced that I simply had no talent for painting and decided to give up.
Ms. Chen, my art teacher, noticed my low spirits. Instead of giving me empty encouragement, she asked me gently to take out my latest painting. She stared at it carefully and pointed out several shining details I had never noticed. “Your color matching is delicate, and your lines are steady. You lack not talent, but accumulated experience and patience,” she said softly.
She told me that every excellent painter had gone through countless failures before being recognized. Failure was not proof of inability, but a necessary process of growth. Her words calmed my anxiety and lifted my spirits.
I took her advice and kept practicing. I stopped aiming for quick success and began to focus on improving my basic skills step by step. I recorded my mistakes in a notebook and corrected them repeatedly.
One year later, I finally won the first prize in a city-level painting competition. Standing on the stage, I realized a profound truth: success never comes easily. Passage 2
Last summer vacation, I volunteered at a community library. Before taking the job, I imagined it would be an easy and relaxing experience: simply arranging books and guiding visitors. However, the first day of work completely changed my thought.
The library was far busier than I expected. Parents with kids, elderly readers and student visitors came in endless streams. I was busy sorting out messy books, answering various questions and maintaining order. Within several hours, I felt exhausted and regretted taking the volunteer task.
An elderly regular visitor changed my attitude completely. The grandpa was over seventy and visited the library every afternoon. He noticed I was tired and helpless. During his break, he came to help me tidy up books patiently and told me some simple but useful working skills. He also comforted me that every new job was challenging at first.

Gradually, I became familiar with the work and could handle it smoothly. I even enjoyed communicating with different readers and listening to their small stories.

Passage 3
Growing up, I was always afraid of making mistakes. I tried my best to avoid any possible errors in study and life. I dared not answer questions actively in class, refused to try new things and hesitated to take challenges, simply because I feared being laughed at or failing.
This conservative lifestyle kept me safe but also limited my growth. I never got poor grades, but I also never made big progress. I stayed in my comfort zone and gradually became unconfident and hesitant. My head teacher noticed my problem and had a long talk with me.
She told me that mistakes are unavoidable during growth. Every student, even excellent top students, makes mistakes constantly. Mistakes are not shameful; instead, they are the most direct way to find one’s weaknesses. Avoiding mistakes means avoiding growth. Only by facing errors bravely can we correct shortcomings and improve ourselves.
Her words woke me up completely. I began to change my state. I started raising hands bravely in class, trying new learning methods and accepting possible failures calmly. Whenever I made mistakes, I recorded them carefully, analyzed the reasons and avoided repeating them.
