There is a time in every boy’s life when he wants to go and dig for treasure. And that time came for Tom. So, one hot summer’s day, he went to find Huck...
There were holes in the floor, and through them the boys could see into the rooms downstairs. “No,” Tom whispered. “It’s two men. One is the old Spaniard. He came to live in the village last week. I don’t know the other man. Sh! Let’s listen to them.”
The two men sat down on the floor. The Spaniard had a green hat and long white hair; the other man was small and dark. He took out a bag and began to open it.
“It’s hot here,” the Spaniard said. He took off his green hat and then he took off his long white hair! “Tom!” Huck whispered upstairs. “That’s Injun Joe!”
“We took six hundred and fifty dollars when we robbed that house,” said the second man. He took some money out of the bag. “We can take fifty dollars with us now. What are we going to do with the six hundred?”
“Leave it here,” said Injun Joe. “We can come back and get it next week. Here, give me the bag.” He walked across the room to the fireplace, moved two big stones from the floor, and began to dig with his knife.
Upstairs, the two boys watched excitedly. Treasure! Six hundred dollars of wonderful treasure!
Injun Joe stopped digging. “Hello, what’s this?” he said. “There’s something here. It’s an old box.” The two men got the box out and opened it. “It’s money!” said Injun Joe’s friend.
Injun Joe put his hand into the box. “There are thousands of dollars here!” he said, and the two men looked at the money with happy smiles. “But who—” began Injun Joe’s friend.
“Don’t ask,” Injun Joe said. “It’s our money now.”
“We can’t take it with us today,” said his friend.
“What can we do with it? Put it back under the floor?”
“Yes,” said Injun Joe. (Happy faces upstairs.) “No! (Very unhappy faces upstairs.) Let’s put it under the cross—nobody goes there. We can take it there tonight.”
When night came, the two men carried all the money away. The boys wanted very much to find that “cross”, but they were afraid of Injun Joe.

Have you ever imagined walking into a museum thousands of miles away without leaving your home, and even “touching” the cultural relics inside and learning about the stories behind them? With the development of the metaverse and digital twin technology, this has become a reality.
Digital museums based on metaverse technology break the limitations of time and space of traditional museums. Through 3D scanning and modeling technology, cultural relics are restored 1:1 in the digital world with high precision. Users can wear VR devices to wander in the virtual museum, observe every detail of cultural relics from any angle, and even zoom in to see the subtle textures that are hard to find with the naked eye.
What’s more amazing is the interactive experience. In the digital museum of the Sanxingdui Ruins, visitors can “assemble” the broken bronze masks by themselves and watch the dynamic restoration process of the cultural relics. In the digital Forbidden City, people can walk into the palaces that are not open to the public in reality, and experience the life of ancient court people through immersive scenes.
Behind these amazing experiences is the support of many cutting-edge technologies. 3D modeling technology can capture every detail of cultural relics with an accuracy of 0.1 millimeters. Cloud rendering technology allows users to visit smoothly even with ordinary devices, without downloading huge files. Artificial intelligence can also act as a smart guide, answering various questions about cultural relics in real time according to users’ interests.
Some people worry that digital museums will replace real museums. But in fact, the two are complementary. Digital museums lower the threshold for people to access cultural relics, especially for those who live in remote areas or have difficulty in moving. At the same time, the digital display can arouse people’s interest in cultural relics and encourage them to visit real museums in person.
In the future, with the further integration of culture and technology, digital museums will become a new carrier for the inheritance of traditional culture. They let cultural relics “come alive” in a new way, so that more people can feel the charm of Chinese traditional culture.
33.Why does the writer mention the Sanxingdui and Forbidden City digital museums?
A.To show the rich collections of Chinese museums.
B.To explain how VR devices work in museums.
C.To show the interactive experience of digital museums.
D.To compare the differences between two famous museums.
34.Which technology ensures the high precision of digital cultural relics?
A.3D scanning and modeling technology. B.Cloud rendering technology.
C.Artificial intelligence technology. D.Virtual reality technology.
35.What is the writer’s attitude towards the relationship between digital and real museums?
A.Digital museums will take the place of real ones soon.
B.The two can complement each other and develop together.
C.Real museums will disappear with the development of technology.
D.Digital museums are far less valuable than real museums.
36.What is the main idea of this passage?
A.Metaverse technology helps cultural relics come alive in digital form.
B.Digital museums are more popular than traditional museums now.
C.Chinese cultural relics have a long history and great charm.
D.Cutting-edge technologies are developing rapidly in China.

Can you imagine a paralyzed (瘫痪的) patient controlling a power wheelchair with only his thoughts? And can you imagine him directing a robotic dog to pick up a food delivery? This is not a sci-fi movie scene. It is a huge step forward from Chinese scientists’ recent clinical trials of invasive brain-computer interface (BCI) (侵入式脑机接口).
The patient became paralyzed after a fall in 2022. In June 2025, he got a BCI system. This system was made by the Center for Excellence in Brain Science and Intelligence Technology under the CAS. After a few weeks of training, he could control a computer cursor (光标) and a tablet (手写板) without difficulty.
To help the patient interact (互动) with the world better, the researchers added new technologies. They successfully made the BCI system work not only on a 2-D screen but also in the real 3-D world. For example, the patient could use his thoughts to control a wheelchair and a robotic dog instead of just moving a cursor on a computer screen. This was a new step in getting better. It helped the brain’s orders go from a 2-D screen to real, full-bodied 3-D interaction with the world.
An invasive BCI system has two parts: a front-end sensor and a back-end processor. The front-end sensor is a very thin thread. It is only 1/100 as thick as a human hair. 5 to 8 millimeters of it is put into the brain. The back-end processor is as big as a coin. It is placed in a small hollow on the skull (颅骨). Experts say the front-end sensor is like a network cable, connecting the brain to the outside world to send and receive information. The back-end processor turns the brain’s weak signals into computer instructions. In this way, paralyzed patients can use their thoughts to control external devices and live a better daily life.
Brain-computer interface is China’s completely self-developed technology. It has broken the world record in its field. It shows that China has become more powerful in high technology. We believe China will continue to lead the world in technology development.
37.Why does the writer mention the scene at the beginning of the passage?
A.To show the purpose of BCI. B.To lead into the topic of BCI.
C.To explain the patient’s thoughts. D.To describe a sci-fi movie scene.
38.Which of the following activities is 3-D interaction with the world?
A.Click the icon on the smartphone. B.Type English words on a tablet.
C.Move a cursor on a computer screen. D.Pour water from the cup and drink.
39.What does Paragraph 4 mainly talk about?
A.How the invasive brain-computer interface works.
B.How the invasive brain-computer interface improves.
C.How the invasive brain-computer interface is tested.
D.How the invasive brain-computer interface is created.
40.Which of the following best shows the structure (结构) of the passage? (①=Paragraph1…)
A.B. C. D.

I remember the look on his face because it wasn’t just embarrassment (尴尬). There were a few people 19 behind us. He started 20 and said he’d have to leave the things there and come back later. At that time, a woman behind us in line stepped forward. She said, “It’s okay. I’ll pay for you.” My dad immediately tried to 21 and told her she really didn’t have to do that. She just smiled and said, “It’s not a big deal. You can help someone else another day.”
The conversation took maybe thirty 22 . She paid, wished us a good night, and left before my dad could even really thank her properly. I remember sitting in the car afterward while my dad was 23 for a moment. Finally he broke the silence and said, “Remember that. When you can help someone someday, you do it.”
It’s funny because I don’t remember what we bought that night. But I remember that moment 24 . And every once in a while, when I get the chance to make someone’s day a little 25 , I think about that kind lady that night.

【详解】16.句意:我和爸爸在一个夏夜傍晚去了商店。
根据后文“run in and get a few things”“cashier”“bought”等可知,他们是在“商店”购物。restaurant“餐厅”、school“学校”、hospital“医院”均不符合购物的场景。
17.句意:我记得在他结账时我很疲惫。
父亲在收银台结账,应用checked out,意为“结账离开”。checked in“登记入住”、showed up“出现”、gave up“放弃”均不符合购物结账的语境。

【答案】29.B 30.B 31.A 32.D
【导语】本文是一篇记叙文,节选自《汤姆索亚历险记》,讲述汤姆和哈克发现一个有很多钱的盒子的经历。
【详解】29.根据“We took six hundred and fifty dollars when we robbed that house…What are we going to do with the six hundred?”以及下文“Leave it here…We can come back and get it next week.”可知,这里讨论的是那六百美元怎么处理,所以it指代的是六百美元,即Six hundred dollars。
30.根据“Let’s put it under the cross—nobody goes there. We can take it there tonight.”可知,印第安・乔和他的朋友计划把旧盒子里的钱藏在没人去的十字架下面。
31.根据“There were holes in the floor, and through them the boys could see into the rooms downstairs…It’s two men.”可知,汤姆和哈克先通过地板上的洞发现了两个男人,这是事件d;接着,“The Spaniard had a green hat and long white hair; the other man was small and dark…He took off his green hat and then he took off his long white hair!”表明印第安・乔摘下了绿帽子和假的白色长发,这是事件c;然后,“Injun Joe stopped digging. ‘Hello, what’s this?’ he said. ‘There’s something here. It’s an old box.’ The two men got the box out and opened it. ‘It’s money!’”说明两人发现了装有钱的旧盒子,这是事件a;最后,“Let’s put it under the cross—nobody goes there. We can take it there tonight.”体现两人决定把钱放在十字架下面,这是事件b。所以事件发生的顺序是d-c-a-b。
32.根据“The boys wanted very much to find that ‘cross’, but they were afraid of Injun Joe.”可知,男孩们非常害怕印第安・乔,所以可以推断他们可能最终会放弃跟踪印第安・乔和他的朋友。

A.B. C. D.
