Yino stood on her school stage, wanting to cry. Her class was practising its play, and she had to be a donkey (驴)—not even a whole donkey, just the front half of one. She wore a bag with two silly ears. In the middle of the play, she had to say, “Hee-haw, hee-haw!” very, very loudly.
Yino wanted to be a princess like Betty, who wore a white dress and a golden crown (王冠), or a flower like Maggie, singing, “We smile in the sunshine. We laugh in the rain.” When the practice was over, Mrs. White, the teacher, said, “Well done, everyone! You should tell your family and friends to come tonight.” Hearing that, Yino felt even sadder.
When she got home, she found her grandpa had arrived on his donkey cart (驴车). She loved him so much! Grandpa asked her to get some water for his tired donkey. The donkey had long ears and smelt bad. “Hee-haw!” it said. What an awful sound!
Grandpa saw her frown (皱眉) and said, “Without my donkey, I couldn’t visit you. She is not smelly or silly. She is kind, patient and hard-working.” Yino touched the donkey’s ear and said, “Thank you for bringing Grandpa here.”
At night, the play started. Grandpa sat in the front row. Yino walked on stage with her bag and donkey ears. In her loudest voice, she said, “Hee-haw, hee-haw!” Her grandpa smiled at her. Yino was happy to be a donkey.

With busy lives, it can be hard for you to find time to volunteer. However, volunteering can make a real difference to both others and yourself.

“If you learn math, physics, and chemistry well, you can go anywhere without fear.” This saying became popular in China because of Chen Jingrun (1933-1996), a famous mathematician. This year marks 30 years since he passed away.
Chen’s greatest achievement was working on Goldbach’s conjecture The conjecture says that every even number (偶数) greater than two can be written as the sum (和) of two prime numbers (质数). Although it appeared easy, no one could prove it. However, in 1973, Chen published a paper that nearly proved it. His achievement was the closest that anyone had ever gotten. It shocked the whole math world. A foreign mathematician once wrote to him, “You have moved mountains.”
Chen was not only smart — as his world-shaking achievement clearly shows — but also very hard-working. He worked in a tiny room of only six square meters and used mountains of scratch paper (草纸). One time, he was so lost in thought that he walked into a tree and apologized to it! He once said, “Climbing the heights of science is like climbing Mount Qomolangma. The timid (胆小的) and the lazy can never experience the joy of victory.”
Chen loved his country deeply. In 1979, he visited the United States. Foreign scientists offered him a good job with high pay, but he turned it down. He said, “My country is still poor, so I should go back to serve it.” After returning, he gave all his savings — $7,500 — to the country. He believed that Chinese scientists should fight for the honor of their nation.
Chen Jingrun lived a simple life and spent his whole life doing research to win honor for China. His spirit still encourages many young people today to study science and serve their motherland.
13. How does the writer begin the text?
A. By asking a question. B. By using a saying.
C. By giving an example. D. By showing a reason.
14. What does the underlined word “It” refer to (指代) in Paragraph 2?
A. Chen’s achievement. B. Goldbach’s conjecture.
C. Chen’s ability. D. Chen’s speech.
15. What can we infer (推断) from Chen Jingrun’s words in Paragraph 3?
A. Interest can be the best teacher of science work.
B. Success often comes from hard work and courage.
C. Mountain climbing is as difficult as math problem-solving.
D. Smart people are more likely to experience the joy of victory.
16. What is the purpose of writing the text?
A. To explain Goldbach’s conjecture. B. To introduce a great Chinese scientist.
C. To show China’s math development. D. To encourage teenagers to study math.

Have you ever watched videos made by AI? Some look so real that you can’t tell the difference. This makes people wonder: “Will actors lose their jobs?” Actually, actors are not the only ones who might be influenced. But here’s good news: While AI is changing many jobs, it is also creating new ones.
A new kind of gig work (零工) is spreading around the world. People in India and the Philippines can make money by recording their housework at home. They wear small cameras on their heads and film simple tasks like washing dishes and cooking. This helps train humanoid (类人的) robots to behave like real people. The job pays around $15 per hour.
AI also creates other jobs. For example, AI can draw pictures in seconds, but sometimes there are mistakes in them — a hand may have six fingers. That’s why there is a need for “AI picture fixers”. They use drawing software (软件) to correct these mistakes. Many young people do this job at home and make good money.
On the one hand, AI influences some jobs. Simple, boring and repetitive jobs may no longer exist (存在) in the future. On the other hand, AI also brings new job opportunities for us. However, AI can never fully take the place of humans because we have creativity, feelings and real-world experience. In the future, humans and AI will work together as partners, not enemies.

Money has changed a lot in recent years. It used to be something we could hold in our hands. Now, we mostly see it on mobile phone screens. This change has made life easier and more convenient. ____17____
In the UK, about 60% of young people aged 8 to 17 spend money online every month. Nearly half of them have come across online scams (诈骗), but only 9% have lost money. Many regret what they bought online. Why? Because without real cash, they don’t feel the “pain” of spending. ____18____ That’s why young people need education on these risks.
Are schools teaching students about these risks? A 2025 survey says no. Over half of British students leave school without useful financial (财务的) education. Schools don’t talk much about online scams or spending money on games. ____19____ But that’s when many teens start making important financial decisions.
Young people see the problem. 84% of children in the UK believe that financial education is as important as other school subjects. England plans to teach it in primary schools starting in 2028, but today’s teens can’t wait that long.
____20____ Family talks, short videos, and even online games can teach students how to manage money wisely. Why not start by talking with your classmates now?
A. However, it has also brought new problems.
B. Also, financial education often stops at age 16.
C. It is less convenient for young people to pay in cash.
D. Luckily, financial learning happens outside school too.
E. This easy, cashless way of spending can bring risks to young people.

A“However, it has also brought new problems.”
空格后提到“That’s why young people need education on these risks.”。选项E“This easy, cashless way of spending can bring risks to young people.”
空格后一句说“But that’s when many teens start making important financial decisions.”。 B“Also, financial education often stops at age 16.”
最后一段列举了“Family talks, short videos, and even online games”等多种学习方式,这些都属于校外途径。选项D“Luckily, financial learning happens outside school too.”

根据后文他的想法“It will take too much time... I have to prepare for the coming exams.”
give up“放弃”、put off“推迟”、take over“接管”均与他的状态不符。
根据后文“He wanted to join them, but he was too embarrassed to go down”可知,他既羡慕同学们的快乐,又为自己逃避劳动的行为感到尴尬,shame“羞愧”符合语境。
根据前文“ran back to the classroom”可知,Tiffany是跑着回来的,处于上气不接下气的状态,out of breath意为“上气不接下气”,breath“呼吸”符合语境。
根据后文“The soil was dry and heavy”可知,土壤又干又硬,难以挖掘,hard“坚硬的”符合语境。
根据后文“He looked around at the trees and the smiling faces of his classmates.”
根据后文“that labor did not take away from learning — it added joy to life ”可知,他通过这次经历对劳动的看法发生了转变,realized“意识到”符合语境。
根据前文“it added joy to life”可知,劳动能为生活带来快乐,happiness“快乐”与前文呼应,符合语境。

41. How do people in India and the Philippines make money?
_________________________________________________
42. Why do we need “AI picture fixers”?
_________________________________________________
43. What kinds of jobs may disappear in the future?
_________________________________________________
44. What job do you think cannot be easily replaced by AI? Give your reason(s). Write 30 words or more.
_________________________________________________
By recording their housework at home.
42.
Because sometimes there are mistakes in AI pictures.
43.
Simple, boring and repetitive jobs.
44.
I think teachers cannot be easily replaced by AI. Because education needs creativity and feelings. AI cannot care about students or understand their emotions truly. Humans need human guidance to grow up healthily. So teachers are irreplaceable.

根据文章第3段“AI can draw pictures in seconds, but sometimes there are mistakes in them... That’s why there is a need for ‘AI picture fixers’.人工智能可以在几秒钟内画图,但有时其中会有错误……这就是为什么需要‘AI 绘图修正员’。”可知,我们需要修正员是因为 AI 画的图有时会有错误。故填Because sometimes there are mistakes in AI pictures.
根据文章第4段“Simple, boring and repetitive jobs may no longer exist in the future.简单、无聊和重复的工作可能不再存在。”可知,未来可能消失的工作是简单、无聊和重复的工作。故填Simple, boring and repetitive jobs.
I think teachers cannot be easily replaced by AI.
