Make sure the studying place is comfortable with enough light. Besides, if you like listening to music while studying, you have to find out what kind of music works best for you. B
There’s a strange expectation at parties: When the music plays, everyone must dance. This unspoken rule often puts me in a difficult situation. For me, dancing in a room full of people feels like wearing shoes that are too tight—uncomfortable, and certainly not me.
What’s worse, every time I say no, my friends just try even harder to get me to dance. They say, “Don’t be shy. It’s fun!” But their friendly efforts miss the mark. It’s not that I’m shy. My idea of a good time is simply a little different. I prefer to talk about books I’ve read or listen to the music and watch people enjoy themselves.
I’ve realized that my discomfort at parties goes beyond not wanting to dance. It speaks to the pressure to act in a certain way. Today’s world often values extroversion (外向) and outward expressions of enjoyment. People who enjoy quieter activities can feel left out, as if our way of having fun isn’t good enough.
As for me, I’ll continue to find my corner at parties. I’ll join conversations I like and respect those who love to dance. Not everyone at a party wants to dance, and that’s perfectly all right. There’s no one-size-fits-all way to have a good time. Through understanding and accepting each other, we can all find our way to be truly social and most importantly, to be true to ourselves.
26. How does the writer feel about dancing at parties?
A. Bored and tired. B. Shy and nervous. C. Excited and relaxed. D. Uncomfortable and unnatural.
27. Why does the writer refuse to dance?
A. He thinks dancing is not fun at all. B. He doesn’t know how to dance well.
C. He prefers quiet ways to enjoy himself. D. He worries about making mistakes in front of others.
28. What does the underlined sentence “But their friendly efforts miss the mark.” mean?
A. They make the writer feel more shy. B. Their words hurt the writer deeply.
C. They forget to ask the writer politely. D. Their efforts don’t work as they expected.
29. What problem do quiet people face nowadays?
A. They can’t find any parties to join.
B. They are not allowed to talk about books at parties.
C. They are often forced to act in an outgoing way at work.
D. They feel left out because of different ways of having fun.
30. What can we learn from the writer’s experience?
A. People can enjoy parties in different proper ways. B. Dancing is necessary to get along well at parties.
C. Outgoing people are more popular in social activities. D. It’s wise to refuse parties if you dislike dancing.
D 27. C 28. D 29. D 30. A
第一段“For me, dancing in a room full of people feels like wearing shoes that are too tight—uncomfortable, and certainly not me.”
第二段“It’s not that I’m shy. My idea of a good time is simply a little different. I prefer to talk about books I’ve read or listen to the music…”
(It’s not that I’m shy. My idea of a good time is simply a little different.)。
第三段“People who enjoy quieter activities can feel left out, as if our way of having fun isn’t good enough.”
最后一段“There’s no one-size-fits-all way to have a good time. Through understanding and accepting each other, we can all find our way to be truly social…”
C
Crabs usually live in lakes and oceans. But now, scientists are raising them on saline-alkali land (盐碱地) in Bayannuur, Inner Mongolia.
Saline-alkali land, known as “cancer of the earth”, is found in places that see little rain. As water evaporates, salts from underground come up and make a white crust (硬层) covering the ground. Over time, the soil hardens, which makes it difficult for plants to get water and air. Rice and beans can lose up to 70 percent of what is grown, according to the Food and Agriculture Organization.
While bad for plants, salts can be good for crabs. Since late March, scientists at a crab farm in Bayannuur have been caring for 3 million baby crabs, making full use of the city’s salty land and the water from the Yellow River that passes by.
To help baby crabs live, scientists have to make sure everything is just right. “Crabs are highly sensitive to changes in water quality, salt levels and temperature,” said scientist Yang Yanping in a talk with the government. With the help of technology, Yang and other scientists have been adding oxygen (氧气) to the water and keeping an eye on the water temperature.
Growing water plants is also important. “They help clean the water, serve as food for crabs and provide hiding places,” Yang told China Daily.
Crabs on the farm will grow faster than usual. The big harvest will come in September, about 20 days earlier than crabs from southern China, expert Gao Huijun told China Daily.
31. What does the underlined word “evaporates” mean?
A. To move down from a higher place. B. To turn water into ice in cold weather.
C. To put water into some kinds of boxes. D. To change water into gas and disappear.
32. What is Paragraph 2 mainly about?
A. Ways to grow plants on saline-alkali land. B. Reasons why saline-alkali land is bad for farming.
C. Crops suitable for saline-alkali land. D. Methods to improve saline-alkali soil.
33. Why do scientists raise crabs on saline-alkali land in Bayannuur?
A. Because the salty land is good for crabs.
B. Because there is no water pollution there.
C. Because the temperature there is always the same.
D. Because there are no natural enemies for crabs there.
34. Which way to protect young crabs is NOT talked about?
A. Adding oxygen to the water. B. Giving them medicine every day.
C. Growing water plants in the water. D. Keeping an eye on the water temperature.
35. What makes local crabs harvested earlier than southern ones?
A. They grow at a faster speed. B. They eat special feed daily.
C. The local climate is much hotter. D. The living environment is cleaner.
31. D 32. B 33. A 34. B 35. A
根据第二段画线词所在句子“As water evaporates, salts from underground come up”及常识可知,水蒸发变成气体消失后,盐分才会留存下来。
根据第三段第一句“While bad for plants, salts can be good for crabs.”
根据第四段提到的adding oxygen(增加氧气,对应A项)和keeping an eye on the water temperature(监控水温,对应D项),以及第五段提到的Growing water plants(种植水生植物,对应C项)可知,文中未提及每天给螃蟹喂药(Giving them medicine every day)。
根据最后一段第一句“Crabs on the farm will grow faster than usual.”
D
April 20 is the United Nations Chinese Language Day. Now, about 210 million people have learned and used Chinese as a foreign language. Students in 90 countries can learn Chinese at school. ____36____ Let’s find out how foreigners learn Chinese.
English has its own tongue twisters (绕口令), for example: “Sally sells seashells by the seashore.” But Chinese takes it a step forward with its use of tones (声调).
English speakers think learning Chinese through the use of pinyin is difficult. That’s because even though the letters in pinyin are the same, different tones can result in different Chinese words, like horse vs mother. ____37____ For example, fourteen is fourteen, forty is forty; fourteen is not forty, forty is not fourteen.
Some foreigners use an App called Hello Chinese to learn Chinese: ____38____ The learners first read them with pinyin and the Chinese characters, and then they’ll read them again with just the characters.
Going out for dinner with their Chinese friends is another good way to learn. ____39____
Do you know? There are over 80,000 characters in dictionaries, but we only use about 3,500 in everyday life.
Some characters have more than one sound. For example, “和” has six sounds.
____40____ The sound “yi” has as many as 103 different characters in the Modern Chinese Dictionary, such as “一”, “亿”, “以” and “已”.
Which Chinese character is used the most? It’s “的”.

C. Reading small stories on it is really helpful.
D. And things get harder when this is used in tongue twisters!

The learners first read them,其中的代词them指代复数名词。

In my opinion, ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Nowadays, AI is becoming more and more important in our daily life. Some people think we should be polite to AI, while others don’t.
In my opinion, we should always be polite to AI. First, AI helps us a lot in our study and daily life, such as answering our questions and helping us finish homework. It is a kind of respect to treat it politely. Second, being polite to AI can help us develop good manners. When we get used to speaking politely to AI, we will be more polite to people around us.
In short, being polite to AI is good for us and we should keep this habit.
Nowadays, AI is becoming more and more important in our daily life. Some people think we should be polite to AI, while others don’t.
In my opinion, we don’t need to be polite to AI. First of all, AI is just a machine, not a real person. It can’t feel happy or sad, so politeness to it is unnecessary. Besides, we use AI to save time and make things easier. Speaking simply and directly to AI can help us get answers faster. There is no point in using polite expressions here.
We just need to use AI properly, and there’s no need to be polite to it.

April 20 is the United Nations Chinese Language Day. Now, about 210 million people have learned and used Chinese as a foreign language. Students in 90 countries can learn Chinese at school. ____36____ Let’s find out how foreigners learn Chinese.

It’s “的”.
A. Many characters sound the same.
B. Is learning Chinese difficult for foreigners?
C. Reading small stories on it is really helpful.
