Developments in technology now tie us closer than ever before. We can call our friends from a thousand kilometers away. We can text. We can talk to each other at the push of a button on WeChat.
There are, of course, advantages to these modern ways of communicating. However, do we ever think about what we are losing? As someone who likes writing and receiving letters, I often feel sad that so few people now give letter writing a fair chance.
While you might call letter writing old-fashioned, I believe we should all write and send letters more often.
To begin with, there is a lot of love in a handwritten letter. This is why texting or calling doesn’t feel as special as letter writing — it’s more rushed. These days, we focus on getting things done in the quickest way possible. To save time, we often use shorten phrases.
Handwritten letters, however, deliver much more warmth because we take the time. Writing letters allows us to express to someone how much we care about him or her in a detailed way.
So when we receive a letter, we feel we are loved, remembered and missed. In fact, the process of writing a letter can make us feel happy, too. When we sit down and focus on what we are writing, we allow ourselves to take a break from the stress of our lives.
Moreover, while texts come and go, letters can be kept forever. We can always go back and read them again. By keeping a letter, we keep a part of that person and his relationship with us.
Roll up your sleeves and pick your pen! Write to your cousins about your school. Let your friends know how much you miss them. Let’s bring back the art of letter writing!
21.Why does the author think handwritten letters deliver more warmth?
A.Because letters cost more. B.Because letters are often very long.
C.Because few people write letters today. D.Because letter writing takes more time.
22.What does the underlined word “rushed” in paragraph 4 mean?
A.匆忙 B.涌向 C.突袭 D.高峰期
23.According to the author, why does the process of writing letters make us feel happy?
A.Because it makes us feel we are saving an old tradition.
B.Because it makes us feel we are keeping a part of ourselves.
C.Because it makes us feel we are loved, remembered and missed.
D.Because it makes us feel we are away from the stress of our lives.
24.How are handwritten letters different from text messages?
A.Text messages can be kept forever while letters cannot.
B.Text messages are often written in a hurry while letters are not.
C.Text messages are considered old-fashioned while letters are not.
D.Text messages can let our friends know we miss them while letters cannot.
25.Which of the following may be the most suitable title for the passage?
A.Ways of Writing Good Letters. B.Advantages of Modern Communication.
C.The Need for Phone Calls and Text. D.The Importance of Handwritten Letter.

24.B 细节理解题。根据文章四段This is why texting or calling doesn't feel as special as letter-writing—it's more rushed. These days, we focus on getting things done in the quickest way possible.以及第五段Handwritten letters, however, deliver much more warmth because we take the time.可知,短信通常是匆忙写就的,而写信则不是。故选B。

As teenagers today become more connected with social media, they are also becoming addicted(上瘾的). Now an app has made it worse. From funny videos to art to science, the app has it all. Music and joy never stops there.
Some researchers wondered what effects such a fun app might have on teenagers. A research team interviewed 31 teenagers. Nearly all said they had at least one social media account(账号). The study team noted that more than 60% of the teenagers said they used the app very often. “The main reason is that it is really good at showing them videos they are interested in, and they can share and enjoy with their friends,” one researcher said.
At the same time, some teenagers were uncomfortable with the app. “When I use it,” one teenager explained,“I keep watching it for hours at a time without realizing it. I even don’t have time to finish my homework.” In addition, some teenagers said that the app’s videos of many perfect faces and perfect lives could hurt their self-respect. “I see someone’s really nice house, or someone’s really cute dog, or happy family. There are so many things that I can compare. It also makes me a little anxious,” said another teenager.
So how can teenagers avoid those bad influences? They can control this habit by reducing their screen time. Choose a certain time such as weekends as their “social media time”. They can also put their phones down for a few minutes and enjoy the real world, such as taking a walk, meeting some friends and doing some sports.
26.What does the underlined word“it”refer to?
A.The teenagers’ addiction to social media.
B.The social media website.
C.The research team's study.
D.The content on the app.
27.What can we know about the app from the researcher's words?
A.It is easy to use.
B.Teenagers can learn a lot from it.
C.It can guess what teenagers like.
D.Teenagers can make new friends on it.
28.Why do some teenagers feel anxious with the app?
A.Because they can’t help spending too much time on it.
B.Because they don't like the non-stop music on it.
C.Because they often see something bad on it.
D.Because they usually compare themselves with others.
29.Which is NOT mentioned as a way for teenagers to avoid the bad influences?
A.Limiting screen time.
B.Asking parents to keep their phones.
C.Using social media only on weekends.
D.Taking part in real-world activities.
30.What is the text mainly about?
A.When teenagers should use social media.
B.How social media influences teenagers.
C.What teenagers can see on social media.

When I was nine years old, I loved to go fishing with my dad. But the only thing that wasn't very fun about it was that he could catch many fish while I couldn't catch anything. I usually got pretty upset and kept asking him why. He always answered,“Son, If you want to catch a fish, you have to think like a fish” I remember being even more upset then because," I’m not a fish, I didn't know how to think like a fish. Besides, I reasoned, how could what I think influence what a fish does?”
As I got a little older I began to understand what my dad really meant. So, I read some books on fish. And I even joined the local club and started attending the monthly meeting. I learned that fish is a cold-blooded animal and therefore is very sensitive to water temperature. That is why fish prefer shallow water to deep water because the former is warmer. Besides, water is usually warmer in direct sunlight than in the shade. Yet, fish don't have any eyelids and the sun hurts their eyes. The more I understood fish, the more I became effective at finding and catching them.
When I grew up and entered the business world, I remember hearing my first boss say,“We all need to think like sales people.” But it didn't completely make sense. My dad had never said,“If you want to catch a fish you need to think like a fisherman.” What he said was,“You need to think like a fish.” Years later, with great efforts to promote long-term services to people much older and richer than me, I gradually learned what we all need is to think more like customers. It is not an easy job. I will show you how in the following chapters.
31.Why was the author upset in fishing trips when he was nine?
A.He could not catch a fish. B.His father was not patient with him.
C.His father did not teach him fishing. D.He could not influence his father.

A.in deep water on sunny days B.in deep water on cloudy days
C.in shallow water under sunlight D.in shallow water under waterside trees
34.After entering the business world, the author found________.
A.it easy to think like a customer B.his father's fishing advice inspiring
C.his first boss’ sales ideas reasonable D.it difficult to sell services to poor people 35.This passage most likely comes from________.
A.a millionaire’s story B.a popular sales book
C.a novel on childhood D.a book on fishing guide

With the development of modern science and technology, AI has entered our lives, which brings great convenience to us. Our class held a heated discussion about its influences on future life.
40% of the students think AI will bring negative effects. They worry that people will depend too much on AI and gradually lose basic life skills. However, 60% of the students hold a different opinion. They believe AI can lighten our work burden and improve learning efficiency.
As for me, AI is a helpful invention. On one hand, it can offer us useful learning resources anytime. On the other hand, it can help us deal with daily chores. If we use AI in a proper way, it will definitely create a better future for us.
