Around the world, more countries are improving their compulsory (义务的) education systems to meet modern needs. Schools in Kyrgyzstan (吉尔吉斯斯坦) are moving from 9 years of compulsory education to 12 years. Students will also have one more hour for subjects like physics and computer science every week. This new model will better prepare students for the job market. Malaysia (马来西亚) made a similar rule. Students now need to finish secondary school, not just primary school as before.
Why is this happening? In fact, compulsory education is important for students as well as society. A 2024 study on the World Bank's website showed that it helps kids from poor families get more education and improves social equity (公平). Also, longer schooling gives students more time to catch up on learning. This way, they can have a better chance of going to university.
However, some people think adding more years isn't enough. For example, Guatemala (危地马拉), a country in Central America, has 16 years of compulsory schooling, but students still score low.
Experts call for other changes. Schools should improve their lessons, especially in fast-changing subjects like science. At the same time, students should have different learning methods that match what they are good at. Therefore, successful education reform needs both longer schooling and smarter teaching methods.
5.How does the writer lead into the topic in Paragraph 1?
A.By expressing opinions. B.By sharing experiences.
C.By providing examples. D.By explaining reasons.
6.Who benefits most from longer schooling?
A.Teachers in big cities. B.Managers in companies.
C.Students good at science. D.Children from poor families.
7.What should schools do with their lessons?
A.Use them for job training. B.Add another physics class.
C.Teach them every weekend. D.Make them better and newer.
8.What can we infer from the text?
A.Students from poor families benefit less from compulsory education.
B.All countries have successfully started 12-year compulsory education.
C.Education reform needs both longer schooling and better teaching methods.
D.Adding more years of compulsory education is the best way to improve education quality.

The dance team members remember the moment when they surprised their kids at the dance show. “We performed at the Brighton Dome which seats 2,000 people, so for our first live dance performance, it was quite something. We took the roof off, ”Jukes said. The noise was crazy and of course, the kids in the audience were blown away. They were shouting, “Hang on a second, that’s your dad. Most people might think our kids would be embarrassed by us but none of them had that feeling. All our families and kids were really supportive and really loved it And it has been considered cool by them to have such a large following on Instagram.” The team has to adapt to its members’ changing bodies as they get older, but that has not stopped them from continuing to dream big, which sets a good example to their kids.

Wu BOT: When Kung Fu Meets Robots
The 2026 CCTV Spring Festival Gala had a hugely popular program called Wu BOT. In the show, humanoid robots perform traditional Chinese kung fu alongside young martial (武术的) artists, making it one of the most talked-about performances of this year’s gala.
The robots are designed and produced by Unitree Technology, a leading Chinese robotics company. These Unitree G1 robots perform difficult movements, including drunken boxing, nunchaku (双节棍) and parkour (跑酷). They cooperate (合作) on stage with students from Tagou Martial Arts School, one of China’s best-known traditional kung fu schools.
