Football, known as soccer in some countries, is widely regarded as the world's most popular sport. Let's explore its amazing journey through time!
Over 3,000 years ago, people in Mesoamerica played a ball game called Tchatali. They used a bouncing ball made of rubber(橡胶)—— no other culture had back then! In China, around 200 BC, a kicking game called cuju became popular. Players used a leather(皮革) ball filled with feathers(羽毛). Aboriginal Australians also had their own ball game,Marn Gook, where they kicked a ball made of leaves or roots to keep it in the air.
Modern football began in England during the 1800s. Early forms were wild—— the whole town played, causing harm and even hurting people! Later, schools like Rugby and Eton created their own rules.Rugby allowed using hands, while Eton used only feet. In 1863, the Football Association (FA) was formed in London. It was decided that carrying the ball with hands wasn't allowed. And the game was divided into two types: association football and rugby.
Football clubs have existed since the 15th century, but were unorganized and without official status. Notts County, formed in 1862, is the oldest professional club. Factories and railways helped teams grow. By 1888, the Football League was established. During the first season, 12 clubs joined the league. The first international match ended in a 0:0 draw, watched by about 4,000 fans!
British workers spread football worldwide. In 1904, FIFA was founded to manage international games. The first World Cup was held inUruguay in 1930. Today, over 200 countries play, and the Women'sWorld Cup began in 1991. Football's biggest event, watched by billions, brings the world together!

It can be relaxing to watch a duck moving smoothly through the water in a pool or lake. In fact, the duck is kicking its legs like crazy under the water to stay afloat(漂浮的). In a way, people can act like this as well. Someone may appear happy and light-hearted, but under the surface, they may be fighting against stress, worry, and perhaps fear, all of which they are trying their best to conceal from the rest of the world. There is a name for this kind of behavior: duck syndrome(综合征).
The term(术语) is believed to have started at Stanford University and is sometimes called Stanford duck syndrome. Although it is not officially accepted as a mental illness, it describes the condition where college students appear calm and relaxed on the outside, but inside, they are having a hard time dealing with the stress of college life. Common symptoms(症状) of duck syndrome might include feelings of being stressed and a sense of losing control of one's life. Moreover, people may find it difficult to relax and experience loneliness, sadness, or worry. In terms of(关于) behavior, signs could include drinking more wine, losing interest in food, or being more likely to put off doing things.
There are several possible causes of duck syndrome. Apart from the pressure of moving from high school to college, comparing oneself with others may also play a part. For example, students often see others'lifestyles on social media, where their friends may show pictures of success, happiness, and achievements. This can lead to self-doubt and the pressure to meet unrealistic expectations.
To reduce the effects of duck syndrome, students are encouraged to practice meditation (冥想) or ask for help from a mental health professional. Simply talking about these pressures with a family member or a trusted friend can also be very helpful.

One possible version:
My English learning journey this term has been a mix of challenges and achievements. I believe my performance can be described as good, with a few areas where I can improve.
I studied English very hard, remembering words and doing exercises every day. Besides, I made it a habit to read English articles. It not only helped build my vocabulary but also improved my reading skills. However, I did poorly in my listening test. I plan to improve my listening skills by listening to more English programs and watching more English movies. Also, I' ll join an English club and practice speaking English every day.
All in all, I have made much progress in English this term and I' ll keep on working hard.
