Positive Attitude: The Secret to a Happy Life
Happiness is something everyone looks for, but not everyone finds easily. What’s the secret to a happy life? Many people believe it’s money, success, or good luck. But in fact, the most important factor is a positive attitude.
A positive attitude means looking on the bright side of life. It means believing that good things will happen even when facing difficulties. For example, if you miss the bus, a positive person might think, “It’s a good chance to walk and exercise.” But a negative person would complain (抱怨), “What bad luck! I’ll be late.”
Studies show that positive people are healthier and happier. They are less likely to feel stressed or sad. Why? Because they focus on solutions instead of problems. When they make a mistake, they learn from it and move on. They also tend to have better relationships, as they are more friendly and optimistic.
How can we develop a positive attitude? First, practice gratitude. Try to find three things you’re thankful for every day, such as a warm meal or a friend’s help. Second, stay away from negative people. Their bad mood can influence you. Third, do something you love. Hobbies like reading, painting, or helping others can bring you joy and a sense of achievement.
Remember, happiness is not about what happens to you. It’s about how you react to it. A positive attitude can turn bad situations into good ones. As Oscar Wilde said, “Keep love in your heart. A life without it is like a sunless garden.” So let’s choose to be positive and find happiness in small things.
41.What is the most important factor for happiness according to the passage?
A.Money. B.Success. C.Good luck. D.A positive attitude.
42.A positive person would ________ when missing the bus.
A.complain about bad luck. B.see it as a chance to exercise.
C.feel stressed and sad. D.blame others for being late.
43.Which of the following is NOT a way to develop a positive attitude?
A.Practicing gratitude. B.Staying with negative people.
C.Doing something you love. D.Focusing on solutions.
44.What can we learn from the passage?
A.Positive people are more likely to be healthy.
B.Happiness depends on what happens to you.
C.Negative people have better relationships.
D.Money is the key to a happy life.
45.What’s the best title for the passage?
A.How to Be Successful. B.The Power of Money.
C.Positive Attitude and Happiness. D.The Secret of Good Luck.

How wonderful it is to wake up on a gentle rainy day in the Jiangnan water town! I really miss the soft rain that falls in my hometown around this time of year. I’m from a small water town in the southern part of Jiangsu Province. We get a lot of fine drizzle (细雨) every spring and early summer.
The rain stays around for weeks sometimes. When it rains quietly at night, the whole town becomes soft and quiet. It’s like the whole world is covered with a thin silk veil (薄纱). There is no loud noise, only the sound of raindrops tapping on the black tiles (瓦片) and the stone bridges. It feels like you’re in a Chinese ink painting.
And in the day, there are many interesting things you can do in the rain. You can walk along the stone roads with an oiled paper umbrella (油纸伞) with your friends. You can sit by the window of an old teahouse with your family, listening to the rain and tasting a cup of local green tea. You can take a boat down the small river, watching the rain make ripples (涟漪) on the water, or you can even sit by the river and draw the beautiful scenery of the water town in the rain.
Of course, there are some downsides of having so much rainy weather. The continuous rain can make the air very humid (潮湿的), making it hard for clothes to dry for days, for example. And there’s also the trouble of having to take an umbrella with you everywhere you go, or you’ll get wet by the sudden drizzle. But I still miss the rainy days in my hometown a lot.
