It is a natural salt lake in the Qaidam Basin. Its clear water, white salt, snow mountains and mirror-like view make it both geologically unique and visually beautiful. Chaka Salt Lake (茶卡盐湖) Chaka Salt Lake (or Caka Salt Lake) is located in Ulan County, Qinghai Province. It is regarded as the eastern gateway to the Qaidam Basin (柴达 木盆地). The lake is oval (椭圆形的) and covers 105 square kilometers, about ten times the area of Hangzhou’s West Lake. It’s very shallow—in some places, it is only ankle-deep—so visitors can walk across it. Culture Understanding Great Barrier Reef (大堡礁) The Great Barrier Reef is the world’s largest coral reef (珊瑚礁) system, with over 2,900 individual reefs and 900 islands. It stretches for over 2,300 kilometers and covers an area of about 348,700 square kilometers. The reef is located in the Coral Sea, off the coast of Queensland, Australia.
