What do you want to say to your future self?
Liu Yixin Posted 2 hours ago
I want to tell my future self: don’t give up playing the piano! I started when I was seven. Life may get busy, but music makes life rich. I also hope I get into my dream school. But if I don’t, that’s okay too. Happiness and health matter more than anything. Give yourself a big hug!
Li Zhaoyan Posted 1 hour ago
I hope my future self still writes songs. Music helps me feel better when life gets noisy. I don’t want to live a meaningless life. I also hope I am happy. Life may have challenges, but I need to accept who I am and cherish what I have. Remember: no one is perfect!

In May 2026, Elon Musk’s young son carried a special bag during his visit to Beijing, which quickly became a global hit. This popular bag is not just a fashion item, but a shining example of Chinese intangible cultural heritage (ICH) (非遗). The tiger-head bag has deep roots in Chinese folk culture. Its design is mainly inspired by traditional tiger-head bags, such as Qingyang tiger-head bags, an ICH item listed in 2006. For centuries, people in northern China have made tiger-head hats, shoes and bags for children, believing the tiger can drive away evil and bring good luck. The bag also joins Zhuang and Yao embroidery (刺绣) from Guangxi, a local ICH skill. Every stitch (针脚) is sewn by hand by ethnic minority (少数民族) women, and it takes about a week to make one bag.
Chinese handcrafts like this bag carry the wisdom of generations. They use natural materials and traditional skills, showing the beauty of Chinese culture. The tiger-head bag’s popularity brings great benefits. It was sold out soon after becoming a hit, with sales increasing over ten times. More local women can work at home and earn money. Most importantly, it helps spread Chinese ICH worldwide, letting more people know about traditional Chinese handcrafts.
This small tiger-head bag perfectly shows how traditional culture can shine in modern times.
4. What does the design of the tiger-head bag come from?
A. Guangxi Zhuang and Yao embroidery. B. Qingyang tiger-head bags.
C. Chinese traditional hats. D. Folk toys for children.
5. Which of the following is true about the bag?
A. It is made by machine.
B. It takes one day to make a bag.
C. Its skills are part of intangible cultural heritage.
D. It wasn’t popular all over the world.
6. What benefit does the tiger-head bag bring?
A. It makes all Chinese handcrafts popular.
B. It helps local women get jobs at home.
C. It makes traditional skills easier to learn.
D. It helps people know more about fashion.
7. What is the main idea of the passage?
A. The history of Chinese intangible cultural heritage.
B. How to make a traditional tiger-head bag.
C. A popular tiger-head bag and its cultural meaning.
D. The popularity of Chinese handcrafts worldwide.
【答案】4. B 5. C 6. B 7. C

If you walk or ride a bike in eastern Daqing these days, you will easily notice a long, colourful path winding along the Liming River. It runs through green wetlands, connects sparkling lakes, and brings beautiful views to nearby communities. This is the Daqing Waterfront Greenway (滨水绿道), a key public welfare project (惠民工程) that has greatly changed the city’s look and people’s life.
The Waterfront Greenway started in October 2021 and was finished in August 2022. The main path is 16 kilometres long. Together with other connected routes around the lakes, the total length reaches about 35 kilometres. It follows the Liming River and links four major lakes in Daqing: Lande Lake, Binzhou Lake, Liming Lake and Sanyong Lake. In this way, it forms a large ecological (生态的 ) slow-traffic system covering more than 50 residential areas and serving around 600,000 people.
Different from common city parks mainly for sightseeing, the Daqing Waterfront Greenway mixes natural landscapes and local culture perfectly. You can find wetland plants, clear water pools and wild grass along the path, just like a natural forest. At the same time, it has six theme areas, such as “Industrial Memory” and “Sponge City” (海绵城市). There are also special landmarks, including an oil pumping viewing tower, a sculpture (雕塑) of the “first crude oil train”, poetry shelters, children’s playgrounds and sports fields. All these make the greenway both beautiful and useful.
Since it opened, the greenway has become a popular place for local people. “In the past, this area was just old roads and empty lots. Now it’s like a big natural park at my doorstep,” said Aunt Li, a 62-year-old resident living near Liming Lake. “I walk here every morning, my grandson plays in the children’s area, and we often see wild ducks and Australian black swans on the lake. It makes our life much happier.”
Daqing is a well-known oil city, and it is also developing into an ecological and comfortable city. In the future, the city will continue to improve the greenway and connect more green spaces. The goal is to make Daqing a greener and more livable city, where people can enjoy nature and a high-quality life without travelling far.
8. How long did it take to build Daqing Waterfront Greenway?
A. About 8 months. B. About 10 months. C. About 12 months. D. About 16 months.
9. What can we learn from Paragraph 3?
A. The greenway is just like a common city park.
B. The greenway only has natural wetland views.
C. The greenway joins nature and local culture.
D. The greenway is far from living areas.
10. Why does Aunt Li think the greenway makes life happier?
A. The environment is beautiful and convenient for her family.
B. She can work out at the oil pump tower.
C. She can take a train around the lake every day.
D. She can catch wild ducks and black swans easily.
11. Which of the following best shows the theme of the whole passage?
A. A famous lake attracts lots of visitors.
B. Natural lakes are important for every northern city.
C. Building roads makes a city become modern.
D. A city changes from industry to a beautiful livable place.
【答案】8. B 9. C 10. A 11. D

In April 2026, the first live surgery (外科手术) of Beinao-1 was shown to the public, making this new Chinese technology hit headlines around the world.
The main goal of Beinao-1 is to help people with disabilities. Some patients cannot move their arms or legs after accidents or illnesses. With Beinao-1, their thoughts can be turned into orders for machines. A 29-year-old patient, who was paralyzed (瘫痪的) for six years, could stand and walk with helpers after using Beinao-1 for five months.
Beinao-1 is an important innovation that Chinese scientists have made after years of hard work. It is the first brain-computer interface (接口)(BCI) in the world that uses a soft electrode sheet (电极贴片). Unlike old BCI technologies which may hurt the brain, Beinao-1 is safe and comfortable for long-term use. This new tech uses a thin and soft electrode sheet that fits the brain well. When the sheet is put on the brain’s surface, it receives signals and sends them out. There’s also a small wireless device (设备) that can receive and translate the signals for a smart machine. With this “translator”, the machine can understand the thoughts from the brain and act. For example, if a disabled person thinks “I want to drink water”, a robotic arm can pick up a cup, fill it with water, lift it carefully to the person’s mouth, and finally put it back. In this way, Beinao-1 helps disabled people control things by thoughts.
Beinao-1 is a symbol of China’s progress in high technology. It brings new hope to patients and shows China’s powerful tech development.
12. To better support the main idea of Paragraph 2, the writer _________.
A. tells a story B. asks a question C. uses a saying D. gives an example
13. The underlined word “innovation” in the text probably means ___________.
A. invention B. conversation C. description D. decision
14. How does Beinao-1 help a disabled person control a robotic arm?
A. By reading the person’s spoken words.
B. By moving the person’s own arm directly.
C. By using a wireless device held by the person.
D. By translating the person’s thoughts into instructions.
15. Which of the following best describes the value of Beinao-1 according to the passage?
A. It creates a new way to treat common brain diseases.
B. It makes brain operations much simpler and cheaper than before.
C. It improves patients’ lives and promotes China’s scientific development.
D. It will remain the top brain technology in the world forever.

V. Reading Expression (5小题,每小题2分,共 10分)
In recent years, more and more schools in China have held different kinds of “Red Culture” activities. These activities help students learn history, respect heroes and treasure the peaceful life today. “Step into History” is one of the most popular school activities.
Students can choose to watch historical videos, put on small plays or visit veterans (老兵).
Among these choices, students always consider that visiting veterans is the most meaningful way for them to understand real history, because this experience lets them understand real history better. Veteran soldiers are like living history books. Different from the stories in the textbooks, their personal experiences are true, lively and touching. They can tell students many unknown details about the past. They once spent freezing nights on the battlefield, supported their comrades through hard times, and fought bravely to protect our country and people. For students, these real stories make history no longer simple words on paper, but clear and unforgettable memories.
Moreover, talking with veteran soldiers face to face offers students deep emotional education. When students see the old scars (伤疤) on their bodies and listen to their firm and peaceful voices, they can truly realize how difficult it was to win peace. This special experience is much more powerful than watching videos or acting in plays. It teaches teenagers that peace never comes easily.
Such red education also helps students build a strong sense of responsibility. As young new generations, students can feel the spirit of selflessness and courage from these heroes. It encourages them to cherish today’s life, study harder and try their best to serve the country in the future.
In fact, red culture is the treasure of our nation. Visiting veterans offers teenagers a chance to “touch history” in person. It is a simple but powerful way to pass on national spirit from generation to generation.

11. Which of the following best shows the theme of the whole passage?

(I). ____41____ veterans is always ____42____ the most meaningful way for teenagers to understand real history.
(II). ____43____ the stories in the textbooks, veterans’ personal experiences are true, lively and touching, which make history a clear and unforgettable ____44____ for students.
(III). Talking with veterans helps teenagers realize that peace is never ____45____, and it also helps them develop a strong ____46____ of responsibility.
What will you choose to do if you want to learn more historical details?
____________47____________
What efforts should we make to build and keep a peaceful life according to the passage?
